That’s exactly why I like the 502. I remap the sniper button for use with other short cuts. Also remap the dpi buttons when I launch games so I can use it for stuff like pinging. It’s just an all around great mouse. I’m happy and welcome the changes. I’m glad they didn’t make it a completely new mouse and upgraded some stuff like the switches and gave it a little extra customization.
Yep, since I get my G502, I get why many people like this (or liked it until the lightweight gaming mice trend emerged). The problem I have with light weight mice, its just all about lightness anymore but they are basically just a normal mice. For most I guess that's fine, but I felt like I need a mice that allows me to actually do more since I don't use my PC only for gaming, I even do it for productivity and since pandemic, use for WFH use as well. G502 despite marketed as a gaming mice, is actually for me one of the best productivity mice out there, better than to even likes of well-regarded MX Master Mouse from the same company. The extra buttons are great for quick macro/shortcut functionality for different apps I used and for gaming as well, not needing to reach that certain function on the keyboard that is too far to reach with the fingers. I don't want to develop RSI in the long term, the buttons actually benefits ergonomics for me and makes me feel more efficient. I'm kinda disappointed that most mice and keyboards are indeed moved away from extra macro and dedicated keys for years. Felt like I'm paying more for less and very few options that offer one that now they became expensive because they became more niche.
It's still not enough buttons for me, as an avid MMO player I need all the buttons I can get to assign macros and hotkeys to. Which is why I stuck to Razer's Naga Pro and its swappable sides, if I'm not playing an MMO, I can just use the 2- or 6-button layout.
@@Aturixios Yeah for MMOs, those mice like Naga or even Logitech own G604 are better suited. I actually want to get those since those extra buttons would be sweet for productivity, but I'll wait for update of G604 assuming Logitech hasn't forgotten about it due to light mice trend we have these days. I want to have G604 but some RGB so I can assign it as profile indicator, and maybe same feel with G502. Idk how G604 feels though.
G502 is hands down the best mouse of all time. There's a reason why it's been the top seller for so long. Perfect weight distribution for stability and precision. Fits so ergonomically and works well for any use case including professional creative work as well as gaming. Having 3 customizable buttons just around the thumb is a god saver. Been using it since it was first released and can't wait to get my hands on my new G502 X Plus. Wish they'd shave off $50 or so from the price but I guess can live with that GOAT premium. Take my money Logitech!
im having so many connectivity issues like it starts "Skipping" like moving left to right can get delayed. I am going to reach out to logitech but we shall see
It is the only mouse I will ever own, I’ve had 2 502 heros and just uprgraded to the white x. The lighter weight is nice and all but I do kinda miss the rgb. I will say though my palms do get a little sweaty on the shell material after a few hours
For me it's been the most durable, reliable mouse I've ever owned. I've had mine for 7 1/2 years now and even through very, VERRRYYY heavy usage it is still going supremely strong. Not once has the infamous "double click" issue ever reared its ugly head. Not once have I ever had tracking issues with it. Not once has its mouse wheel ever given me any issues. Really the only problem I've had is that over time, the rubber grip along the side has worn down significantly. Beyond that it still functions like a champ, which is incredible considering just how long I've had it and how much abuse it's taken.
I got this exact mouse and I agree that its very good. only thng I would change is to remove the thumb guard at the bottom (I play a lot fo fps games and i like to use my thumb agaisnt the mouse pad to stop my mouse)
The marketing is mixed but the technical spec section of the wired G502 X says it has RGB and some promotional videos and material have it lit up while some don’t. It is confusing of that is true or not
I personally don't like lighter mice, so I'm glad they continue to make mice like these. I had the G502 Hero a couple years back and I loved it. I've since then switched to a Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE because I like the flanges in both sides, but seeing they updated it I'm considering giving the 502 another go.
Yea true , the click sounds quiet bad imo, and the redesigns take away what i love about the lightspeed that is the sharp curves , though the click is prone to double click but as someone who have been using the viper with the original optical switches for the past 2-3 years , im very confident to say that mechanical switches feels and sounds better than optical
@@Bruh-cj8pt The clicks sound like every other mechanical mouse switch out there. This is a hybrid mechanical optical switch and probably feels exactly like a mechanical one since it uses the same click mechanism a mechanical switch does.
I agree. I don’t know what I was expecting but this feels like they just added new switches and changes up the bodywork to call it a day. Also, I prefer the look and feel of the old scroll wheel and I prefer the slightly heavier feel and the appearance of the old light speed
As a G502 user for 5 years now here are some of my opinions about this new upgrade: 1. USB C was long due 2. The new rubberized finger rest was really necessary because cleaning on the old one was terrbie. 3. I like that the mouse is not that glossy anymore, it will look even better! 4. Love the PTFE gliders 5. Apparently, the "PLUS" version only gives you RGB, which means at least for me that I will buy the non plus version. 6. The new switches are HYPING me up! 7. I kind of miss Bluetooth on Logitech G mice. I will still buy the mouse, but having Bluetooth would have been really nice. Had to buy a G603 for travelsals instead ):
I've owned every single iteration of the G502. It is the absolute perfect mouse for me. My current Lightspeed version with the charging pad is so damn good. It just needed to get a lighter version. It's a slight improvement, but not the drastic reduction I and everyone else was hoping. This new version will still be purchased by me very soon. I'm also old so IDGAF about RGB, so it'll just be the X version for me that doesn't have it.
@@cwbgaming8913 So what you are saying is that I should buy an objectively worse mouse with a shittier sensor and bad switches for more than a g502. Thanks for the input but unlike you, I won't choose my mouse based on how much RGB garbage they can put in it.
@@cwbgaming8913 lol. No sniper button. This mouse is simply a piece of plastic for those who use their thumb to aim instead of right button. There are almost no alternative to the G402/g502 if you want an efficient and ergonomic mouse for shooter. Can believe that in 2022 people use long press major finger on right button for aiming. As inefficient and dumb as non split keyboards
Despite daily-driving the G Pro X, the G502 is still the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. It's nice to see that they haven't abandoned a classic model.
Been using the GPX Superlight for over a year now too, and I love how lightweight it is, but I’m gonna try this mouse out and maybe just hold onto both
I agree with this, for a long time usage I think G502 is better (probably because it's ergonomic), but from personal experience it's just meh for playing FPS (other games are fine)
The g pro x is a great fps mouse but im always switching games from fps to mmo to moba sometimes; thats why i think the g502x plus is my go-to-mouse its just does everything well.
@@gausly I hate being a lightweight snob but honestly after going to the heavier G502 X, I much prefer the Superlight, or in my case I switched to the Razer Deathadder V3 Pro. I like its switches more and the ergo feel is perfect. I would say my only complaint is lack of dedicated on/off slider switch for the mouse lmao, where the DPI button is also the power button (very minor gripe). Until Logi makes a SL with optical switches I’m sticking with this
As much as I like lighter mice, I do a lot more than just gaming on my PC. G502 has always had the best balance imo between a productive mouse and a gaming mouse. The extra buttons, especially the 2 by the left click, plus the ability to scroll sideways, are super useful for things like photo editing. Light mice are amazing, but G502 will always be king for me.
If the review itself wasn't enough, the fact that at 4:45 you warn of audio levels returning high again it's a beautiful touch, letting the viewer adjust the audio again to not blow their ears. Man, I just subbed for that. What a great quality content. Keep it up, man! ✨
I've owned almost every iteration of the G502, when the lightspeed came out I was ecstatic. Still using the lightspeed now and love the weight. Not really into the super light mice, lightspeed with max weights is the way to go :). As for purchasing this new iteration of the mouse, I'm tempted but it does seem quite expensive (i waited till the lightspeed was on sale before i purchased it). And there is nothing currently wrong with my current g502 so I'm probably not going to buy it unless this mouse breaks down. I'd probably go for the non RGB version simply because its cheaper.
I've had the G502, and now have the G502 Hero. Both have been excellent mice and this line of mouse will always be my main mouse. Good to see they are upgrading the mouse still today. I know exactly which mouse im getting when its time.
The original G502 was my first "proper" mouse meaning something that wasn't a cheap $20 keyboard+mouse combo. Absolutely loved it until I started getting more into games where the GPW was just objectively better fit for me. I still miss all the buttons and that awesome beefy scrollwheel but can't say I would ever go back.
I think the fact that we have a choice is very nice. For example if you don’t want a flashy black RGB mouse because you use it at work etc, you can get a clean looking white mouse that fits in.
There's just so many good competitors that are the same shape that it's hard to justify it's price , Razer Rocat and Logitech themselves have that exact shape and the new one just doesn't have enough bells and whistles that would justify getting it instead of one of those mice especially at 160. RGB is nice for pictures but I won't see it when my palm is over the mouse anyway.
@@fillezzo It really depends. I don't feel like it's bad for a mouse to be in that price range especially when the mouse has a good sensor, really good build quality and other stuff like extra buttons and stuff like that. Right now I use the G Pro superlight for my setup and before that, I used the g502 lightspeed and the non-lightspeed variant before that and they are all solid mice. I think the pricepoint is justified by what you get and i would happily buy this mouse if I still preferred the g502 ergonomics over my G Pro superlight.
Really excited for the new switches. The only issues I’ve had with my G502s are switch failures. Double-clicking and ghost clicks are unfortunately very common after six months/year, and the culprit is the cheap switches. Hopefully this new model improves durability.
These double click issue is a bit annoying. I mean, my second lightspeed doesn't have these problems (my first had Sensor and switch problems that randomly dissolved) I will wait several months that i can be shure that there are no problems with this mouse.
I have the logitech g604 mouse which I'm pretty sure has the same switches as yours. It obviously sounds ridiculous, but try taking a deep breath and exhaling as hard as you can into the mouse underneath the primary and secondary buttons (left click and right click). Totally fixed my double clicking issues I'd been having for at least 6 months prior. Can't promise it'll work for you as well, but it's a fix that costs nothing and might potentially save you having to get a new mouse!
I had no idea people memed on the G502. I absolutely love mine (I have one of the old wired versions). I don’t like when mice are super light, they just feel cheap to me. The shape always felt perfect for my hand and I also always loved the lighter click on all of the auxiliary buttons on it. Every other mouse that has extra buttons uses switches that require a good amount more force and always seem to have a thicker thunky feel that I don’t like. The ones on the G502 seem to be the same or similar to the regular right and left click.
Honestly, I wish I knew about this mouse back when I had purchased my first gaming mouse. It seems like I'd be treated better by the sheer quality that Logitech offers for such a cheap mouse, compared to other cheapo mice brands.
People don't understand that a light mouse isn't the best for everyone. You also need to be able to handle it. The priority should be on what shape and weight works best for you. In randomfrankp's video on why he went back to the G502, he mentions how he was accused of hacking because he was doing that well.
@@Root174 exactly. My friend loves the old Razer Lancehead TE for its silver look and shape and I pushed him a bit since he plays insanely low sensitivity to which he did try a v2 deathadder he had and went straight back. Personal preference people lol
It was memed because mice elitists think that all gamers should be competitive fps pro wannabes, they forget that casual/single player/PvE gamers are the majority
Honestly if you aren’t playing at the top level, finding the correct shape, good sensor, durable and with enough buttons for your need is way better than weight. 80g with a good shape vs 60g with a less fitting weight for me just isnt comparable.
I think the key here is the battery perfomance, Logitech page says "about 120 hours with RGB turned off" and "37 hours with RGB turned on" for the plus model and I think that's a massive difference, I'd be nice if you can test that battery time RGB vs no RGB, if the gap is that big then I don't think buying the RGB version is worth at all, but if the difference in lasting time is small, like 100 hours no RGB vs 80 hours RGB (to say something) then I think the plus version would the nice one to buy.
One of the big reasons I've always loved the g502 is the number of individual buttons. Since I came from console, I was very used to doing a lot with a few fingers, and the g502 allowed me to still do that. That being said, I am disappointed in how little they did to the mouse this time around, though I'm happy they finally gave it USB-C
same, it's one of the only mouses with my preferred button layout along with the rival 500 (RIP), corsair nightsword, and asus spatha. however my personal gripe is still the scroll wheel. i hoped they would do one with the mechanism swapped out for another ordinary switch.
This will 100% be my next mouse along with hopefully a powerplay mat. Probably gonna go for the 502 X Plus for the RGB to get extra FPS. I loved the wireless with no charging with the Hyperflux Mamba, but didn't love the shape, and I'm getting tired of Razer's software on my Basilisk.
I've owned every iteration of the G502. It is my favorite mouse by far and I am very glad to see them refreshing it, the king has returned. The amount of crap this mouse gets is ridiculous, I've recommended this to so many people, people that bought it and now love it. For each of them I am open to other peoples thoughts so I did say "a lot of people say it's on the heavier side just so you know" and they all said that's ridiculous, it's not heavy at all it's perfectly fine. I agree completely, this mouse gets meme'd for no reason, it's not a part of the "superlight" train but it's not by definition "heavy". It's just heavier than the ridiculous
I'm glad to hear they've gone with new switches in the mouse buttons, I've been using the G502 ever since I can remember and I've gone through a few due to the switches in the right mouse button constantly failing after about 6-10 months of use (I treat my hardware like it's my most treasured item, not rough with it) so gaming with it has been a battle when it decides to kark out and un-ads my weapon or go all jittery with it when I try to scope in. This sounds like it'll be the perfect upgrade to look forward to so I can't wait ! So glad they didn't change the ergonomics of it too much because it is literally the perfect fit for my hands.
sucks you got that unlucky, ive had my same first gen wired g502 for multiple years now with hours of use daily and none of the switches have failed :I
The 502 has always been my favorite productivity mouse. My only issues with it were the crappy double click prone switches and the really cheap feeling plastic and rubber that you could feel disintegrate beneath your fingers within a couple of months. At least they seem to have finally switched to optical switches, guess now I just gotta wait and see how well the materials hold up and we might have a winner.
Exactly. The cheap black rubber literally melts after a few months of use. If they change the materical and solve double-clicking issues I will buy it even if it costs over 200.
@@theblackbro69 the rubber still wears out fairly quickly, but so far it hasn't become oily and gross like it tended to do on the older 502 models. Then again the older models were also not too bad for me until after the 1 year mark or so, but so far I'd say it's an improvement.
I remember hearing about this mouse in January I think it was? I was really excited for it, it's definitely not a disappointment and I'll probably still be picking one up but I do wish there was more to it especially after waiting this long for what seems like no reason. Also wish the "G" was still RGB on the mouse.
After having the same mouse for 5 or so years, mines finaly on the way out, so I bought another one for 30 dollars, I got the regular gloss black one tho, the scroll wheel tilt controls never worked on my SE edition
@@dreadfulbeef7653 I just bought the g502x plus in white for $70 brand new in box it's awesome but the lightness is gonna take some getting used to also ghub is confusing af to use smh
@@edwardwongliupepelutivrusk1262 i got my nephew one for 36 bucks before christmas as his first gaming mouse. he thought i was a god, lol. i love mine and just picked up the lightspeed plus and i hope its as good.
The white ones look so clean! I’m glad that Logitech is back on the top with their new switches and the still good old reliable HERO sensor. I was getting kinda worried about Logitech falling behind other companies. All they need to make is a new G Pro with these switches, USB-C and a new Opto mechanical low profile keyboard like Razer did and I’m sold.
I hate this new limpdick era of mice, trying to be as light as possible, I like the tanky/hefty feel of my G502, Ive been looking for getting this but it has no addable weights or anything to offset the weight reduction.
If they ever manage to make a g502 that's closer to 70-80g, I'll be ditching my 58g mouse in a heartbeat. Idc about the weight as much, I just want a lighter version of the g502 like shape.
The G502 was the dream mouse for me. Literally talked about it for years before my girlfriend got tired and gifted me one. So hate on it goes straight over my head. Definitely love that they've updated it and not just a facelift either. I do agree, the central plastic shroud takes away from its iconic design. Now would I spend the extra $20 on RGB, my heart wants to say yes, but the real answer is no. Would definitely choose the X (in black though). To answer an unasked question, would I upgrade from my existing 502 to the new one, hell no, not unless I run into real issues.
Having had all the 502s since the start and currently running a 502 lightspeed with an lmb that's kinda spotty rn the new X version isn't the upgrade I was hoping for. If it was the same price as the 2019 lightspeed I'd go for it but at 160 with a slightly less heavy body and RGB with more dust catching grooves I'll be waiting till this one goes on quite significant sale before I consider buying it despite still loving the ergonomics and button layout of the 502
After having my G903 for over five yrs. it's finally starting to consistently double-click on me. I use the infinity scroll 90% of the time in my games and daily browsing so I can't part with it. I'll do with the extra weight, it really doesn't bother me. So this may be a worthy upgrade.
Seriously. I’m never buying another mouse without the infinite scroll, I’ve been using the G502 and variants of it for 6 years and I’m only just now “upgrading” (we’ll see) to a G604, obviously still going to keep the 502 around as a backup.
I would take the no rgb model. Not necessarily because of the weight or the price. But for the battery life. I would put those 20 bucks towards their power play mat so i can have wireless charging :D. Love the content! Keep it up!
@chink exterminator Some really prefer the G502 over other mice, even with the added price of the Powerplay mat. For me it's the shape, the button placement, the infinite scroll wheel when I need it. You can also wait for the price of the G502 X Lightspeed or Plus to drop if you're not in a hurry. Though personally, I might not get Powerplay considering the 140 hour battery life.
Teflon is a brand name of PTFE. They are the same polymer. The differences come down to other aspects than the feet being a different material entirely.
I have a wired G502 and I really like it. Granted, it's also the only good gaming mouse that I've ever owned. My only complaint is that it's a little larger than I would like.
I think it's pretty clear why there are 3 versions and you explained it - Wired, Wireless and NO-RGB/RGB versions. There are people who will pay for RGB because they'd rather look at their computer than use it and then use their phone to "flex" in reddit setup threads. Logitech knows this and has capitalized on the financial opportunity.
I love the G502. I am in the same boat as you where I have been using it since it came out. There's no way I am paying $160 for an updated version of it. I'll happily pay half that for a wired version, but its a hard no from me for $160.
[11:26] Hey everyone! Thanks for the detailed review, Random Frank P! It's always great to hear your thoughts on new gaming gear. I've been a fan of the G502 for a while now, and I'm excited to see Logitech continuing to refine and update this classic mouse. The new hybrid optical switches sound intriguing, and I'm definitely looking forward to trying them out for that unique tactile feel. Regarding the different versions, I'm a bit puzzled too. I appreciate having options, but the price and feature differences between the X and X Plus are somewhat perplexing. Personally, I lean towards performance and functionality, so I might opt for the lighter and cheaper version without RGB, but I'd love to hear what others think about this pricing strategy. Looking forward to your in-depth review and more gameplay experiences with the G502 Lightspeed! Keep up the great work, and as always, I'll be following your updates on Twitter. Cheers! 🎮🐭
Considering that you can get a G502 Lightspeed for a pretty good price a lot of the times nowadays, I can't really justify these. Thanks for the review! As always!
Ordered the black non-rgb version, rgb on mice is arbitrary, not needed, everything else about the mouse is what I truly care about and this mouse might be my new main over GPX super light, can’t wait
The most important change were the switches. Every other change is minor compared to that change. No longer having to deal with accidental double clicking in a $100+ mouse was a much needed change.
G502 was my first good gaming mouse and It's still to this day my favorite, but I wouldn't use it anymore because of it's weight.. if they could have cut it down to 60-70g I would buy one in a heart beat.. but looks like I'll be holding out hope for the Glorious Model I wireless whenever that comes out.
@@wiitx26 it's not a g502 without the hyperscroll and the two button beside LMB. I don't think Logitech would use a honeycomb shell. Heck they managed to make the g pro x sl without resorting to honeycombing.I don't understand the obsession with lightweight mouse lol.
@@7tqpbnvh7tqpbnvh77 You would have to use a lightweight mouse to understand. I just convinced my friend to convert from heavy g502 to a light mouse and he already can't go back after a day or 2.
Holy shit - a clear, concise, to the point, aware of personal preferences, and informative review for mice? Fantastic!! I have the G502 Proteus Spectrum (pretty dang old now) and looking to move that mouse to the office and get a wireless mouse for home. The 502 X looks perfect. The 502 fits my hand perfectly, and I never move my hand very much so the weight makes me feel more in control of the movement.
I use a g903 daily and I can safely say its the best mouse I've ever used. The length and weight are perfect for me. I know they are different, ut I'm really excited to get the g502 x
While everyone is chasing for the lightest mouse in the market, I'm struggling to find heavier mouse. Loving my G604, and I hope Logitech won't abandon the heavy mouse market like other companies do😢
Sadly, it is a current trend now, so the heavier gaming mice will be a niche and expensive thing to have these days. Normal productivity mice are not suited for gaming due to Bluetooth latency and other connectivity issues. There might be still heavier ones, but from lesser known brands that the quality may be hit and miss, and software might be bad.
as a 502 lightspeed user as soon as I can justify the upgrade I'm going for it they actually solved one of my biggest issues with the mouse so when I first saw the differences I was like no brainer non rgb model is the way to go but after seeing it in a couple reviews now that rgb looks really nice and I think I'm gonna shell out the extra 20 for it
So coming from the pro x superlight, I thought I already had the best mouse possible. Wireless, 62g, yk the drill. Before the super light, I had the wired model O-. So i've been a lightweight mouse guy for sometime, switching to a heavier mouse felt different at first and im still getting used to. But this mouse is amazing. I switched mainly because I wanted to try and ergo build and I love it. Everything from the build quality, to the overall look of the mouse. AND IT'S USB-C! About time logitech g starts to get with the program.
Used every model of the G500 for years and then every model of the 502 for years after that. Last year I decided to give the ultralight thing a try and I did notice a reasonable improvement in my movement and aim (playing mostly Quake and Diabotical) but missed the thumb button and thumb rest of the 502. Recently bought the Model I, been liking it a lot actually, but this is really making me want to switch back to the true king. I could always dremel out the shell to shave weight if I really wanted anyways...
Call me old school but I just dont understand how they just did away with the weights. 100grams so light. Or how about a version which supports weights. Honestly considering just another g502. Any thoughts?
Your mention of the DeathAdder reminded me of my transition from the OG model to the chroma V2. The shape changed so much that I straight-up hated it. I keep it shelved as an emergency mouse to this day. For mice, shape really is everything. These days I just love the thumb rest the 502-like models have.
I love my wired g502, and it fits perfectly. I wouldn't buy the og lightspeed because it's not type C, but now I want to upgrade. The rgb will look good with my setup, and I spend way more time working than gaming anyways, so a few grams don't scare me.
Frank! Hope you see this comment as it's a response to your question at the end. This video is the first I've heard of this mouse, and it actually caused me to look up some other reviews for the mouse. I've been using a Logitech G900 for 3-4+ years now, which replaced my G502 Proteus Core. When the G502 Lightspeed came out, I went to Best Buy and bought one. I love the shape of the G502, did not like the Logitech G Hub software, and the increased weight over the G900, so I returned it, not to mention the $149.99 price. I was able to get my G900 for practically free, so despite my preference for the shape, I could not pay that much for a mouse. The 502 X Plus is incredibly attractive to me, with a lighter body than my G900 (106g vs 107g, plus PTFE feet) but with heavier, tighter right and left click switches, as well as tightened up scroll wheel. There has always been tons of side to side slop in my scroll wheel, both on my G502 and my G900, so this is a very welcome change to me. Not sure how I feel about the new sniper button with the flap. However, due the price difference between the X Plus and X Lightspeed, I will not be buying the X Plus for months into its lifecycle, or until I see a sale price below $120, especially when the original G502 Proteus Core I fell in love with launched at a far more reasonable $50. I find this artificial price segmenting incredibly distasteful, and affront to the most loyal consumers of the brand, who will be buying their products directly at launch. I have a Logitech G810 keyboard, and if it were ever to become irreparable, it's doubtful my new keyboard would be a Logitech one.
The wired G502 Hero is only $40 now. Kinda feels like a ripoff even at $80 for the wired G502 X. I'd have been much more receptive to the price if they had reduced the weight more than they did.
One of the best ever made, for me at least. I tried 3 other brands over the last few weeks and returned to the G502, 4-5 years old wired and worn, still beats them all.(If it ain't broke, don't fix it!) Now if they remade the G700 (a little smaller) I would pay premium for that! I still have one and it's worn out to a fair degree, but that one rocks! Logitech hear me! The G700 that can run on Windows 10-11 will be awesome! For now I will keep my 502 and be happy!
I use the G502 Lightspeed mouse and I love it, when paired with the wireless charge mouse pad it's the best I've found, the weight of it doesn't bother me at all, in fact I like the weight of it over other mouse's that are lighter. Seriously thinking about upgrading to this new one
I would say that the g502 has always been that mouse that tries to pack as much as possible, So I would go for the g502 x plus but... The g502 x wired only weights 89g which may be heavy to others but for a person who has used every single g502 (Except for these ones), is bloody light! I do hope to see a wired rgb one only weighing around 93g. I would love to see that!
i know im the same i love my heavy fully weighted g502 se bt these new mice looks so good i picked up the wired black version and a white plus version and was very shocked just how light they are, cant wait to see the difference from going from one extreme to the other.
Just got my First G502 Hero after having an deathadder V2 for the last 4 Years. Never going back. Infinity Scroll is awesome and the weight feels great.
The g502 will always be useful for me because the extra buttons on the mouse and infinite scroll are really useful features to have for someone who uses their setup for both gaming and productivity.
I own many variant of the G502 mouse, but I am finally happy they address the sniper button as it is a struggle for me to use and thus I never use it. My favourite reason why I like the mouse is the fact that I can tilt the wheel as I use that for my Push-to-Talk key as it's very comfortable for me to use. The only complaint for me is the fact that the mouse scroll up/down can't be remap to a keystroke.
My biggest concern is if it starts double clicking. EVERY G502 mouse I've owned has eventually start double clicking. Sometimes its within 3 months and others 6-9 months but it ALWAYS happens. I've had to Warranty a couple of times and I don't really play any FPS games or any type of game that you would consider to be "heavy use" on the mouse.
OMGG!! im so happy to see logitech using optical switches now, hope they implement it in all the new mices, i got 3 times the g502 just because i get double clicking issues, love the non plus, there is no much point of spending much more for rgb and less battery life because of the lights
A couple days ago I pre-ordered the wired version of this mouse because it's only $79. I've had a total of five g502 mice between me and my son and every single one of them suffered the left Mouse button click issue where it wouldn't hold the click. But I still kept getting the mouse knowing that was an issue just because it felt so darn good in my hand and now I'm super excited for this because I feel like that Mouse click issue is going to be a thing of the past with the new switches they have
I love my 502. I'm a mechanic, I also do body work and various odds and ends. I'm used to handling tools and a light mouse feels overreactive to me. I have all the weights in my 502 and couldn't be happier.
Coming from the g604, the g502 feels overall better and the similar shape really helped me transition. Hands down the best mouse out there for my needs.
I've had my G502 lightspeed for 3 years now. I have had to swap the switches out 3 different times to keep from double clicking. The original switches that came with the G502 started double clicking 5 months after purchasing and then the left click wouldn't have any tension so the plastic button would hold the switch down. Replaced the cheap chinese omrons that Logitech uses with Japanenese Omrons. Heavier click and better feel. Those Omrons lasted at least a year and some change before giving up the ghost to double clicking. Swapped those out for Kailh switches and so far, so good. All that being said, I'm so fucking happy they changed from the shitty Omron switches. Omron used to be a good company with quality switches like on my OG G502.
I’ve had ohhh 4 G502 mice. It was my first gaming mouse when the “Proteus Core” was what it was called. That was essentially before it got extremely popular because it was overpriced. I love a heavy mouse and will stay with my wired 502.
Looks like it's mostly an incremental upgrade from the 502 Lightspeed. I'd upgrade mainly for the looks, in which case it doesn't make sense to not get RGB. Even if I didn't already have my G502, the extra $20 for RGB is worth it to me.
The G502 with the light-speed chip is the BMW M5 of mouses. It’s got the (big engine) fast sensor, and low latency Bluetooth chip (dual clutch automatic). But at the end of the day it’s still weighing over a double most light weight gaming mouses (M5 weight 1930kg, MX5 weight 961kg). The G502 is a productivity mouse (luxury car) dressed up to be a gaming mouse (sports car). It’s got the comfortable palm grip (comfortable soft seats), 9 programmable buttons (storage space & back seats), the infinite scroll wheel (cruise control). The G502 is the mouse you get when you want the functionality of the MX Master ( Mercedes S-class) but the response of a gaming mouse (sports car).
The old G502's were often on sale. Logitech already has a 20% holiday sale going.. I doubt many will be paying launch MSRP for these. That being said I'd definitely be more likely to go non-RGB.
I like the review, I cranked my headset to hear the mouse clicks. 8:44 It's heavy but it has things that I like; the free-spinning scroll wheel, G7 and G8 buttons beside the left mouse button, left-right scroll wheel buttons, extra sniping button for macros, plus it keeps my thumb from rubbing on my mat. I do have big hands and the shape of the G502 lets me hold it more firmly than other mice I've had (I felt like my Razer Naga Hex v.2 was falling out of my hand).
When people say the G502 is too heavy, I always respond with "get stronger"

A point worth mentioning, the wired version is 89 grams for $79. So if you don’t mind the wire, the weight and price comes down even more.
It’s the only mouse I’ll use. The button arrangement is perfect and no others do it quite like it. I used every button.
Same. Mapped everything on it in Doom Eternal.
Good for anything non competitive
I’m an RGB lover but won’t spend more just for RGB itself. I love how the white looks with the lightspeed and would fit in my setup perfectly.
The marketing is mixed but the technical spec section of the wired G502 X says it has RGB and some promotional videos and material have it lit up while some don’t. It is confusing of that is true or not
@@A_Shihtzu can turn on and off obviously
Agreed my man
Another white mouse to buy, like Rival 5 Destiny, Logitech s502 KDA. I have Corsair m65, Roccat Kova aimo, Kone aimo, Razer lancehead.
@SawL EatR nope, I play pc in the dark. Mouse rgb helps me see where it is.

Looks like I’ll just be sticking with my original 502 light speed. This was pretty underwhelming. Thanks for the review.
Same. And that plastic wheel looks scuffed.
@@Bruh-cj8pt The clicks sound like every other mechanical mouse switch out there. This is a hybrid mechanical optical switch and probably feels exactly like a mechanical one since it uses the same click mechanism a mechanical switch does.
@@Bruh-cj8pt are those gen1? I think gen3 opticals do feel much better than the earlier iterations. Should feel close to Razer's mechanical offerings.
I agree. I don’t know what I was expecting but this feels like they just added new switches and changes up the bodywork to call it a day. Also, I prefer the look and feel of the old scroll wheel and I prefer the slightly heavier feel and the appearance of the old light speed
As a G502 user for 5 years now here are some of my opinions about this new upgrade:
1. USB C was long due
2. The new rubberized finger rest was really necessary because cleaning on the old one was terrbie.
3. I like that the mouse is not that glossy anymore, it will look even better!
4. Love the PTFE gliders
It lost rgb logo, also it lost the 3 leds that show you what mouse profile you're using. It lost the customizable extra weight.

@chink exterminator While the G Pro is a good simple light mouse, you can’t map as many actions because of the lack of buttons
I’ve moved on to the super light, but man there are a lot of things I miss about this mouse! All the extra buttons were so convenient.
@@ffac789 which one do you like more? im torn only between trhe gpx superlight and g502 x plus.
"I'll clap your cheeks either way". LMAO great video frank! Not the biggest g502 fan but interested in trying these for sure.
If the review itself wasn't enough, the fact that at 4:45 you warn of audio levels returning high again it's a beautiful touch, letting the viewer adjust the audio again to not blow their ears. Man, I just subbed for that. What a great quality content. Keep it up, man! ✨
I was thinking the same exact thing!
Put off buying a new mouse for so long, saying the same thing about my OG g502. Sucker still refuses to give up the ghost, 9 years later. Oh well
I've had the G502, and now have the G502 Hero.
Then buy the non RGB one. It's 20 bucks cheaper
@@nikod615 160 is still way to much for a mouse.
give it a bit and it will go on sale. G502 Lightspeed retails for $200 CAD and goes on sale for $120 often
I mean, my second lightspeed doesn't have these problems (my first had Sensor and switch problems that randomly dissolved)
I will wait several months that i can be shure that there are no problems with this mouse.
i own mine since 2018 and had no issues since. Its the wired one though.
Glad they swapped the switches... Ive had 2 g502 lightspeed, 1 g604 break within 2years........
I had two mouses from Logitech that had double-clicking issues, that's why I changed to viper last week, rip timing.
That being said, I am disappointed in how little they did to the mouse this time around, though I'm happy they finally gave it USB-C
same, it's one of the only mouses with my preferred button layout along with the rival 500 (RIP), corsair nightsword, and asus spatha. however my personal gripe is still the scroll wheel. i hoped they would do one with the mechanism swapped out for another ordinary switch.
well for me, who has the powerplay mat, the imput change wont effect me
More durable click button is great. 502 is having a durability problem
So glad they didn't change the ergonomics of it too much because it is literally the perfect fit for my hands.
sucks you got that unlucky, ive had my same first gen wired g502 for multiple years now with hours of use daily and none of the switches have failed :I
I honestly don't know how many I think will sell - I'm still cool with my $40 wired G502 and I feel like a lot of other people will agree.
I keep buying a new G502 every 2-3 years because the rubber just disintegrates and becomes gross. But this is the best mouse for me.
@Antares 8001 is it still holding up good?
@@theblackbro69 the rubber still wears out fairly quickly, but so far it hasn't become oily and gross like it tended to do on the older 502 models. Then again the older models were also not too bad for me until after the 1 year mark or so, but so far I'd say it's an improvement.

Keep it up!
Same, I have the wired G502 Hero mouse and plan on getting the G502 X model for no RGB since I don't use it.

I have a wired G502 and I really like it. Granted, it's also the only good gaming mouse that I've ever owned. My only complaint is that it's a little larger than I would like.
Save for the g pro
I think it's pretty clear why there are 3 versions and you explained it - Wired, Wireless and NO-RGB/RGB versions. There are people who will pay for RGB because they'd rather look at their computer than use it and then use their phone to "flex" in reddit setup threads. Logitech knows this and has capitalized on the financial opportunity.
I love the G502. I am in the same boat as you where I have been using it since it came out. There's no way I am paying $160 for an updated version of it. I'll happily pay half that for a wired version, but its a hard no from me for $160.

Rgb on anything is not needed
the X plus is literally an additional improvement form the previous. think id be getting one if ever my G502 wear off
The most important change were the switches. Every other change is minor compared to that change. No longer having to deal with accidental double clicking in a $100+ mouse was a much needed change.
G502 was my first good gaming mouse and It's still to this day my favorite, but I wouldn't use it anymore because of it's weight.. if they could have cut it down to 60-70g I would buy one in a heart beat.. but looks like I'll be holding out hope for the Glorious Model I wireless whenever that comes out.
its already out for quite some time (glorious model i)
@@wiitx26 I know the model I is out but I am waiting for the wireless version.
Model I is out for a while, its shit though
Hopefully this means they'll bring optical switches to the g Pro to finally sort the double clicking issue
Seriously ha. I'm waiting for optical switches too!
go with the razer basilisk 3, it is basically a much better G502
@@perceptivity_ Worse switches, less side buttons, and it's heavier. How is it better?
The way that spin ended in perfect position @ 2:02 was really satisfying.
agreed
I use a g903 daily and I can safely say its the best mouse I've ever used. The length and weight are perfect for me. I know they are different, ut I'm really excited to get the g502 x
I have also a g903, did you finally switch the g502x for the g903??
@@Villanes I never got to. I will try to get one for christams though!
I use every button in every game. More stuff bibded on my mouse than keyboard at this point. This mouse is insane. Switched from the hero to x plus
There might be still heavier ones, but from lesser known brands that the quality may be hit and miss, and software might be bad.
as a 502 lightspeed user as soon as I can justify the upgrade I'm going for it they actually solved one of my biggest issues with the mouse
so when I first saw the differences I was like no brainer non rgb model is the way to go
but after seeing it in a couple reviews now that rgb looks really nice and I think I'm gonna shell out the extra 20 for it
So coming from the pro x superlight, I thought I already had the best mouse possible.
I like heavier mice too, I'm just used to it and it feels more comfortable to me. Wish it supported weights
The price is insane, when the old G502 Lightspeed went on sale for less than £60 at times.
The wired G502 Hero is only $40 now. Kinda feels like a ripoff even at $80 for the wired G502 X. I'd have been much more receptive to the price if they had reduced the weight more than they did.
@@nataku411 the g502 had an MSRP of 130€ in my country. They weren't that cheap either. This new iteration will fall in price too with time
One of the best ever made, for me at least.
I like my g502 with full weights.
Infinity Scroll is awesome and the weight feels great.
it might not be the best mouse i have used, but it still has great customization options
make g502 series great again!
Again..? It always has been.
Does this mouse also wobble and rattle when shaken/moved quickly side to side ?
The g502 will always be useful for me because the extra buttons on the mouse and infinite scroll are really useful features to have for someone who uses their setup for both gaming and productivity.
comparing the logitech 903 vs the rgb g502 x plus which one do you think is better???
I own many variant of the G502 mouse, but I am finally happy they address the sniper button as it is a struggle for me to use and thus I never use it. My favourite reason why I like the mouse is the fact that I can tilt the wheel as I use that for my Push-to-Talk key as it's very comfortable for me to use. The only complaint for me is the fact that the mouse scroll up/down can't be remap to a keystroke.
0:25 i totally did not think the mice were actually part of the box
ngl that flip at 2:02 was so clean the way it just ended up straight
My biggest concern is if it starts double clicking. EVERY G502 mouse I've owned has eventually start double clicking. Sometimes its within 3 months and others 6-9 months but it ALWAYS happens. I've had to Warranty a couple of times and I don't really play any FPS games or any type of game that you would consider to be "heavy use" on the mouse.
OMGG!! im so happy to see logitech using optical switches now, hope they implement it in all the new mices, i got 3 times the g502 just because i get double clicking issues, love the non plus, there is no much point of spending much more for rgb and less battery life because of the lights
the mouse is phenomenal, I love the shape and extra buttons are a huge help for users like myself that struggle to reach keys that are further
Brings back memories , G502 was my first PC gaming mouse ever
A couple days ago I pre-ordered the wired version of this mouse because it's only $79.
I've had a total of five g502 mice between me and my son and every single one of them suffered the left Mouse button click issue where it wouldn't hold the click.
But I still kept getting the mouse knowing that was an issue just because it felt so darn good in my hand and now I'm super excited for this because I feel like that Mouse click issue is going to be a thing of the past with the new switches they have
The fact that he’s rocking a Menzingers shirt… I knew I liked you Frank… but damn now I love you 🤘🏻
I love my 502. I'm a mechanic, I also do body work and various odds and ends. I'm used to handling tools and a light mouse feels overreactive to me. I have all the weights in my 502 and couldn't be happier.
Can't wait to see Bearded Bob get his clippers out & customize the new version!
Just got the G502 X Plus , very happy with it. Very responsive. Fits my hand perfectly.
I love your menzingers shirt! Such a good band
hey frank, love your reviews, can you make a playlist of JUST your gaming mice reviews? would love to just binge watch those :)
yo no way. havent seen ur channel in years... i watched u years ago when I was building my PC. lovee your content glad i found it again :D
i cant believe it. they finally made a white g 502 that wasnt part of some collab. im sold
I am shaving everything and going with the OG g502 hero , yes with the wire ... For the premium price of lightspeed honestly wire is not an big issue
Great, wait till it’s on sale I’ll get it cheap af when I need it
I used every generation of the g502, and cant see myself using a different shape mouse ever again. Loved it since they launched the wired version
Coming from the g604, the g502 feels overall better and the similar shape really helped me transition. Hands down the best mouse out there for my needs.
I appreciate the "Audio levels returning to normal" prompt. My ears thank you :P
One thing that is premium is the editing and presentation.
Well done!
I'm a G502 lover. I'm using the Lightspeed version right now. I still will probably get this one at some point when it goes on sale.
I’ve had ohhh 4 G502 mice. It was my first gaming mouse when the “Proteus Core” was what it was called. That was essentially before it got extremely popular because it was overpriced. I love a heavy mouse and will stay with my wired 502.
Does this mouse also wobble and rattle when shaken/moved quickly side to side ?
That being said I'd definitely be more likely to go non-RGB.
but i personally think that the 502 hero design is sick and prettier comparing to the latest model :(
I like the review, I cranked my headset to hear the mouse clicks.
