Feeling kind'a sorry for Logi as I do appreciate them for some of their product offerings, but after watching this video and not being able to come up in my head with one single argument to contest any of the reasoning being exposed here, it is even more painful. You're undoubtedly right in sharing your frustration and disappointment, especially after having spent $180 US plus tax for this. And then the claims; and then the press release; and then the PRO part; and then the inability to mod it; and then... oh boy. Please tell me you did not pay for this out of your own pocket. Informative video and entertaining as always. Luv 🥰

So the really cool thing about Logitech software, is that the new control panel doesn't support older devices, which means you need to have the old Logitech control panel installed for those devices.
    Sounds like a minor inconvenience?
Well, you can't have both installed at the same time. You get to choose either the newer devices, *or* the old ones. So if you have an old racing wheel and a new mouse, you're SOL.

Honestly they have no competition when it comes to mice. Some other company might be able to make better mice but none seem interested in trying. You have Logitech, the default mice that come with their respective brands and tons of nameless Chinese products. That's it

    • @panvlk
      @panvlk 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@strayiggytv Tbh the "nameless chinese products" pretty much caught up with the big boys now when it comes to the mice. And they evolve much much faster than the dinosaurs like Logitech and Razer. Logitech released GPX2 with a big fanfare recently, and it's basically just a GPX1 copy with USB-C and 2000MHz polling rate. And they spent years making it. Brands like Lamzu, Pulsar, Vaxee and others are releasing tons of great mice frequently, around half the price, full of latest tech, 8000MHz sensors, optical switches and encoders, super light weight, hot swappable switches etc. Logitech is living off their past fame, but they aren't the inovators in the mouse market anymore either.

The whole op is less than 5 minutes per case and can be done with stuff you have at home you so desire.

Try the Razer Basilisk V3. It has an infinite scroll wheel, but you can click a button just below it to switch to clicky scrolling. I know some Logitech have that too, but I use middle click all the time, so I can't stand the type that switches scroll modes with middle click. My favorite part though is that it has a smart mode where the scroll wheel is clicky until you try to scroll extra fast and then it automatically switches to infinite scroll until you stop it or it loses momentum, then it goes back to clicky. So nice, especially for like video editing and scrolling through long pages.

"Why do they call this thing... pro?" - That's easy. Because Logitech, like Apple, has a bunch of fanbois who will buy anything they make, so they jacked up the price on a $30 keyboard and named it "PROFIT", imagining all of the money that would be rolling in. However, someone thought that was a little TOO on the nose, so they shortened it to just "PRO".

The issue with a big company doing mechanical keyboards that are good enough for enthusiast is repair/replacement costs.
The “standard” hot swap system is great, but it is something that is hard to “automate” to mass produce and they are prone to ma factoring errors where the socket is not 100% aligned and so they pop off when the user installs a switch….meaning they face a choice to either have a generous refund policy or to have angry customers. It just makes sense to try to come up with a “new and innovative” switch system.
What I’m getting at…they just won’t be able to make something that is cheap enough to hit the “mass market” represented by people who want a good keyboard for gaming but has the quality expected by a keyboard enthusiast.

The problem with big companies like Logitech is that the team working behind these products has a limited budget, have to meet tight deadlines and most importantly, have to make a product that will make more profit than the last quarter. How do they keep doing that? By scamming everyone.
Smaller companies have more freedom, with fund raising you could have a really good budget to work with, provided you are giving people what they want, and the teams behind smaller companies don't have their hands tied.
That said, I'm not defending Logitech or any big companies, they are a disgrace, despite having some great products like you said, for me it's the superlight 2, very good build quality and performance for its weight. It's 2024 and big companies using their brand/past reputation to scam consumers is nothing new, people just need to be smart about buying something to avoid the scams, and honest reviewers are a blessing to everyone.

My dad had myme pick something for black friday last year for my birthday, and although I pucked the razer huntsman optical instead of analog, it's still very great* (besides the software on my 12 year old pc), the design was subtle with the name across the bottom, freely changeable lighting, binding and performance despite the awkward price, and the addition of swapping switches if I really wished. Logitech's board feels like a direct copy of analog board, but being nearly worse then one even I own. I think the main benefit of this would be how compact it is with the side wheels in addition to good lighting and maybe ok response times (though wired) or click feel, but still it feels like a dated keyboard releasing in the current era. My assumption is that they had ideas of releasing and 60% but forgot years ago and are just trying to compete with the better more sophisticated brands. I'm still convinced that they only knew what they were doing years ago when making stuff like the g502 and other peripherals back then. In fact their bigger older boards are prob cheaper and give better performance for the price.

to some extent, i don't think a keyboard, even if designed to be customizable, needs to come with pullers. why? cuz those are super cheap things that you can get elsewhere and don't need to hoard or have filling landfills with every new keyboard you get.
but some caveats i suppose, if you're buying from a company where their entire point of existence is to provide fully customizable/build your own keyboards, then it kinda makes sense.
or, you know, maybe have an option when buying online to have the pullers included, this way if you need/want you can, but if not, it's not wasteful.

thats kinda becoming a theme in the major brand spaces. corsair products are outdone by price and not having an awful software attached to it (psus aside but theyre slowly losing ground there too) while logitech, razer, hyperx, and steelseries are still making keyboards and mice like its 2017 (with little exception) gaming headsets were never good. the best stuff seems to be coming from brands dedicated to that one peripheral and its not even more expensive than the big brands most of the time, in fact its usually cheaper

Logitech took a huge L on this. Can literally get a Royal Kludge aluminum frame keyboard for a lot cheaper, still keeps Bluetooth, and ACTUAL hotswapable switches. (not to mention you get a keycap puller).

That thing is basically a chinese $18 mech from 2016. Like the Tomoko I-500, which sold at one point for $8 free shipping on amazon.
