For everyone who has commented on my fingernails, I hear you guys loud and clear lmao and it has been addressed. But anyway, What do you think of these new mice? Will you be picking one of them up?
If it fixes the horrible scroll wheel issues the G502 has then in an instant. Going to a plastic scroll wheel though seems pretty bad, it might fix the moment of inertia problem the G502 has but it also means less inertia for long flicks.
I was genuinely surprised when you said you didn’t have 300 subs. This video is on par with the best tech review channels. I’m glad to see how far you’ve come in a year
Holy shit! Just realised how many subs this channel has. I don't think I've ever seen such decent production quality from a channel with so few subs. Starting out strong.
Omg! You are too kind thank you! Yeah I've been doing content creation for a few years but this channel is finally on the go so Im bringing the eat from the start! haha
You are the only reviewer I've watched on youtube that mentioned about the issue caused by making the center bridge flush. It was an issue I had to adjust for as well. Truely appreciate your review. Thank you.
Thank you! I also agree, it was something I saw no one else mention either. Sometimes no matter how small something might be it's still going to come up for some. I try to take note of every little thing when I review something.
While I respect the G502 for it's legacy as a popular mouse for gaming, you *really* have to want the G502 shape, the extra buttons and/or USB C to buy the X/X Plus. On Amazon, the X Plus without RGB is 140USD, and with RGB it's 155USD. The G Pro Superlight is cheaper at 110USD while being a lighter mouse, and the only thing I don't like as someone who owns a G Pro Superlight is charging over Micro-USB. However, I'd be willing to bet that the existence of the G502 X Plus is the beginning of Logitech moving over to USB C on all their gaming mice.
Yeah USB C is finally in that stage that we are seeing way more adoption for it. And absolutely, you will need to like the shape ofc, G pro superlight and this are completely different shapes, it just depends what you are looking for. Best thing to do though, wait for the powerplay to go on sale and grab that. Then no more needing to charge over micro haha
i love the g502. in my opinion it is by far the best mouse. logitech is going to be stuck making it for a very long time. and in the event they drop production for whatever reason i have many more in boxes as backups lol
yes it is way better this one actually made me a bit sad they destroyed the shape i been using for 20 years now. the first one was mx510 they been using and evolving that shape since then
My double-click issue history: G9, G9x, (then I think it was a G403, but I forget the exact model), then a G502, and finally now another G502 Lightspeed. Why do I keep giving Logi my money?
heavy is terrible. Gave me tennis elbow when i play adc in league of legends. switch to a 60-70gram mouse, it went away. But then i played like 6 hours a day. Heavy is good, for precision, but is kinda bad for long periods of time.
Reminder that gaming mice are based on preference :) If someone wants a heavy mouse, doesnt make it terrible, just terrible for someone who prefers a lighter mouse.
Most people who switch to a sub 60 gram mouse and make even half an hour of effort to get used to it love it and also noticeably improve in mechanical skill.
I love everything about it this mouse since I had the original 502 a long time ago but ever since I moved on to the superlight I can never use a heavier mouse ever again.
My only problem is the RGB turns on when just sitting alone. I would have got the non RGB one but best buy didnt have any and to get one shipped would have taken 3 weeks so RBG it was. lol
A a proud new owner of 2 white wireless ones, I can already confirm it's my favorite mouse I've had. It's replacing my g900 and my finances basilisk. Our only issue is lightning, it'll constantly revert back to whatever the out-of-box light setting is
Nice! Hmm, if you have Ghub it shouldnt be reverting. Are you confusing the mouse using default start up lighting before ghub loads on your computers? There is an inactivity light setting that it goes to when the mouse isnt being used but you can change that.
I like my new G502 X plus, it's super light and charges back up super fast with usb-c. But, after two weeks the rubber thumb rests started to show some wear and tear. It's a good mouse, just for 150+ you'd think it'd last a bit more.
Honestly, I got a g pro x superlight about 5 months ago- and I can't go back to a heavy mouse again. Like I absolutely love it, and feel my accuracy has been much more consistent with the lighter mouse. I have the g502 hero, then I went to the glorious model o wireless, then went to the superlight. I gave my mum the g502 just for a comfortable mouse for browsing the Internet etc, and my god everytime I use it I'm like holy crap this is heavy as hell!
Same, I'm spoiled by the superlight. I would like a mouse with more buttons but now because of the superlight, weight is the biggest determining factor for me
Yeah totally understandable. I feel the difference too when I bring out the super light for any FPS game haha. End of the day it always comes down to preference
I used a G402 way back in the day, then I switched to G603 and while it was good, it never felt right. Now I'm on G502 X Plus and it feels like home. Can't beat that shape and fuckton of buttons.
One thing to keep in mind... at around 40% battery life my scroll wheel became "inactive" to input. I though I broke it or it finally went bad. I ended up charging it to 60% and the scroll wheel went back to normal... Very odd. Either way, I've been using this for a few months. I'd rather get the wireless Shroud 303, but I like the options of buttons so this seems to be the only mouse that fills my current needs. I've got the 305 and the wired 303 and prefer the shape of those for claw grip, but they lack buttons. I like me some buttons.
Buttons just open up a lot of options 100% Shrouds 303 is a great mouse in its own right absolutely. Although the issue with your scroll wheel and battery. sounds really weird. Maybe give ghub a reinstall and if it still persists reach out to support?
One thing you didn’t mention is that the new one comes with a normal mouse cable. Whereas the old g502 came with a braided cable. I think for long term use the old g502 was actually better in this regard. I’d love to see a removable usbc for the wired versions. That way if the cable breaks at least you can replace it. Also all those buttons can be changed to whatever you’d like. It doesn’t have to remain dpi changing.
I know that the buttons can be changed, I do mention it, but the fact remains that, no matter what the button was programmed to, I found myself accidentally hitting it a lot. I too would love to see detachable cables for wired only mouse though as well! Would add a slight premium but would be worth it for sure.
Pretty sure that's the G700s. At least it is for me, even with the older sensor. I updated my switches years ago. Problem is they stopped making it and to buy new is anywhere from $200 to $400. Nice thing is there is a pretty good supply of rebuild parts.
About the weight discussion. I'm probably one of those odd ones out, but I simply can't deal with those "lightweight" mice. It's why I put in all the extra weights into my current G502 and even after very long gaming sessions I am having no issues with my hands, wrists or arms. It also doesn't really feel "heavy" imho and I am far from being a physical fit person. I also always play way better on "heavier" mice. Be it for shooters (more in the past than today as I rarely play them anymore) or other games. It's more about the feel/how comfortable they are for a user than the actual weight imho. Moving "the weight" is also a kind of feedback. It feels sturdier, I am feeling more of the mouse and of my hand. Meanwhile the "lightweight" mice just feel...flimsy. They are just overall way more comfortable to me. One of my favorite mice in the past was the MX1000 which weighs 200 grams IIRC. It's also one reason why I dislike playing with the Nintendo Switch Pro controllers by now. My X-Box and the PS5 controllers just feel way better, partly due to the heavier weight.
Find all the gaps of produced videos out there and garnish more views like this video. Your production quality and delivery is top notch, only to get better and better.
Aw yo! Thank you so so much! That's honestly heckin sweet of ya XD I really try my best to address everything someone would want to know about a piece of tech they potentially might be buying! On top of the countless amount of tech videos I already watch and learn from so cheers for the nice comment!
honestly with 12 buttons it has,I never assigned more than 1 layout for functions,so the button you usually use for switch I would use it for something else
nice, but i feel like the RBG trenches will be collecting alot of icky debris... Weird that you say that 6:30 cus i have the same problem with the previous models xD I keep hitting that darn button by accident!
gpro superlight is my go to for gaming. Can't beat it. For regular use i still use my g604 which in my opinion is better than the g502 for the buttons and it's basically the same ergonomics as the g502
Decent mouse. If you got the cash and are an enthusiast, it works well. Otherwise, lots of mice out there at less than half the cost of this one that perform comparably in the things that matter.
Yep, as I mention in the video theres going to be preference. But if you are someone who liks the size and shape of the 502 and wants a wireless mouse, well your options are either this or the razer Basilisk V3. Theres always choice, theres just always going to be better choices than others.
@@Techtacula the original wireless g502 was the only mouse to ever properly feel comfortable in my hand. if this 502 feels anything like that, ill buy 10 of them.
i got the 502x wired version, the weight savings and cost makes it more than pay for its price, i am used to wired mice and the cable for the 502x is surprisingly light and uses good silicone :D
Just switched to a G502 X Plus after 2 years of using a G Pro X Superlight with several different mouse feet. I love the way it feels in my hand, yes, it's heavy but don't be weak? 😂😂 All jokes aside this thing helps me track better so far in my games, I need to improve my flicking, but my aim is more consistent for sure with this one. I'm using it weird though... Index on G8 (Primary Click - Fire/Attack) Middle on Left Click (Secondary Click - ADS) Ring on Right Click (Left CTRL - Crouch/Change Stance/Slide/Dive) Pink on the right grip Thumb touching all 3 side buttons which are ( `~ - Push to talk for Discord for me, Forward - Lethal Throwables, Backward - Melee Attack or Tactical depends on the game)
Honestly so awesome to hear! And yeah sometimes just having a more comfortable grip can make the difference and everyone has a preference for weight so I'm honestly so glad to hear its working out way better for ya! Top those leader boards ya legend
I like these mouses that have a lower thumb "Sniper" button, I use those thumb buttons heavily. The thumb button is actually the main point that makes me want to buy them, because I bind the thumb button to crouch which is used a lot in shooter games. The thing is, no one else really uses it as much as I do, so the reviews don't mention if there's any troubles with them. I switched from a G402 to a Razer Basilisk V3 and I was happy at first but the thumb button became loose. And with this new G502 having a removable adjustable button thingy, I question the durability of it. But if it ever became cheaper, I'd probably try this at some point. :P
Yeah while many may use it as a dpi shift button, others like yourself will use it for common actions that frees up a key on the keyboard. As fas as duribility goes, all I can say is that the switch feels really solid and the cap is held on with a strong magnet so I dont think you would have any issues long term. It's benen 6 months so far for me and 0 issues.
I disabled the DPI profile switch even on my old G502. I have never found that I need different DPI profiles since you can change sensitivity in game as is, I still found that I could accidently switch profiles and never knowing if I was in the right profile. I also changed the DPI shift button to CTRL making it super easy for crouching in most games and zooming in and out of web pages with 1 hand. All the other buttons I mapped to keys on the keyboard which are easy to keybind in games for more complex moves.
My sniper button is ALWAYS bound to push to talk for Discord. Might not be the best choice as it may affect my aim slightly, but I never seem to notice an issue.
Perfect time for me to upgrade considering my G502 decided it didn't want to click and drag anymore. Those mechanical switches were begging to be made more reliable. Glad to see they are addressing that problem with the new hybrid switches.
So this video popped up on my recommended without even searching previously for mice. I still have the original G502 that you could get for like 20$ before inflation so I thought to myself “why not.”. I really enjoy the g502 mice, even though I still use a controller for gaming, but these mice have always looked and felt great. I got to the end of the video and was about to click off when I heard you mention you wanted to hit 300 subscribers by the end of the year. This statement had me very confused and I was certain I had misheard what you said, so I stopped scrolling and clicked back on the video (mobile) to see if I heard correctly. To my disbelief , you do have less than 500 subs. You delivered some very high quality videos and as a CC myself in that 300-400 subscriber range, I noticed the hard work you’ve put into this video. Let’s get you to 1k subs, starting with this one from me!
Them changing the location of the sensitivity/DPI indicator was what I was worried about. Why on earth would they put it there? Looks like I'll be getting a replacement, not an upgrade to the "X" edition. I've had my original Proteus Core since 2014, and only just a few days ago did the switches finally start to act up/double click.
I still want companies to try to make CM Xornet type of mouse. Short at 10.5 cm, normal wideness at 7.5 cm, the interesting ergonomics that fit the small hand perfectly.
I remember when you were mentioning this video during the Stream Room podcast, at the time my G604 was working great, though now it's having the double click issue. Really glad you mentioned this new G502 has different click switches and won't have the same issue. I'll keep the G502 X Lightspeed Wireless in mind as a possibility for my new mouse. (I overthink and spend so much time researching, not sure if I'll pick this up just yet) Though, I do wonder if they would re-release the older mouse models with the new optical-mechanical switches.
Aw thanks for coming over to check it out Sport! Yeah due to how opti-mechanical switches work, you will only get possible double clicking if A. You are unfortunate enough to get a faulty unit which is uncommon but it happens and you just get a replacement, or B. You've had the mouse for 6/7+ years and the switches are getting close to the end of their rated life haha. As for other older models being refreshed, quite possibly! There are only 2 mice that they would give this treatment for. The G604 and possibly the G903 since that one was a true ambidextrous mouse. Some love for the left handers out there haha.
it still has the double click issues can confirm it trowed the mouse away after few weeks xD and its not uncommen many people still having that issue reddit is full of them xD
Oh for sure. I've never seen or heard anyone have LED issues with their mice, even after years and years of use. Including my own experience. No worries on that front.
Just bought one three days ago, and have had to charge it twice. I started with the powerplay, but it couldn't make headway on charging it, plugged in the cable and let it charge while I slept. unplugged the USB cable and within half an hour it had lost 10%. I think I might need to take it back and swap it out. I am coming from the 502 lightspeed which I have had 2 with the double click issue.
Just got a 502 Hero a few months ago so I won't need to change anytime soon. That being said I am glad they continue to increase the quality and design of the original. I have a question, on the wired version do they still use a braded cable? Or did they switch to a soft plastic? I use my mouse a lot every day and the braded cable is much stronger than those plastic ones.
7:55 that would be even worse, lol. You would always hit it every time you'd want to press the side buttons or even just flicking the mouse with your thumb. Also, I don't hit that button at all when holding or using the mouse. That said, it can be disabled. You don't need to have all the 4 DPI settings either if you only use 1-2, or even one DPI setting. You can delete the other ones and just keep one. I always just put my mice to my preferred DPI setting, if I also use if for desktop apps, then I set a second preferred one.
It's just my experience with the mouse that other people have also echoed in their experience too. But being raised higher than the previous model means more hand shapes & sizes will hit it. The solution isn't "Just disable it" because its a button I want to use that is available to me. I want it to change DPI because the other buttons are used for more frequent hotkeys/macros.
I have the org 502 Lightspeed which tbh doesnt require upgrading but the X Plus looks so gorgeous with the RGB and id never had a white mouse before. The Logitech G series trademark design is so timeless that the various models doesn't look too far from its siblings. But im a true blue sucker for all things Corsair so Logitechs (and Razer) just add to my collection of different mouse and keyboards.
It really is incredibly nice! And honestly thats fair. Everyone has their preferred brand they stick too. But I have no doubt you would love it if you end up getting it!
I saw a bit of an improvement over the lightspeed due to all the modern advancements of this. But then again there are more LED's on the X Plus for RGB, so it all comes down to how you like your lighting.
you call it the DPI Button, I call it Aim Button purely because I rebind right click to it for almost every game because when I first got an actual gaming mouse it was my dad's old Razer Naga and the right click was going out so I rebound it to 1 on the side buttons and now I can't aim any other way, it must be on my thumb same with whatever the crouch key is (varies by game) and whatever the inventory/journal key is plus I found the DPI I like and have gotten good with (1600 due to having a small mouse area which is what I always assumed DPI was actually meant for)
Another thing to note: The grips on the G502 X are far easier to clean, you had to either scrub the G502's grips with a wetwipe for a few minutes to get any grime out, compared to a few clean swipes on the newer model.
Different tier's of mice there. It's going to come down to whether you primarily play FPS or not. Because the Pro X Superlight will be better for that. But if not or you don't play often, and want something that would be a little more comfortable due to being a bit bigger, then the G502 X Lightspeed or X Plus is the way to go. Hope that helps!
After having various Logitech products fail, including 3 G502s which all broke in the exact same way (switch failure). I vowed to never buy another Logitech product again. Seeing those new switches almost swayed me until I remembered I'd have to deal with G-Hub again. I have a Corsair Ironclaw now and I think the bigger size is more comfortable for me, plus it has more programmable buttons. I just wish it had the options for wireless charging like the G502 has.
Logitech absolutely nails convenience factor. (still waiting for wireless charging keyboards though XD) Switch quality has come A LONG way since the days of the first few G502's. I completely understand the hesitency given your experience. Also end of the day, all Peripheral software is never going to be perfect. Idk what everyone else's experience with G hub has been but the way it is rn is the best its been and absolutely better than a lot of others. Plus its not as intrusive either.
@@Techtacula Wireless charging keyboards would be super nice. The last G502 I had where the switches failed was the G502 Lightspeed around 3 years ago so no doubt there's improvements. It's just hard to trust a company again after having so many products fail (I've had a lot of Logitech stuff besides my G502s). All my peripherals are corsair now and while I wouldn't say the iCue software is any better than G-Hub it is nice to just have everything controlled by one app and only have to deal with the issues of one app.
@@burgerbait Absolutely. Can't fault your experiences there with constant faulty products. tbh you sound really unlucky hahahaha. But 100% agree its better and more convenient to have the 1 app for everything and Corsair is great in their own right for peripherals as well.
@@Techtacula Yeah I think bad luck has definitely played a part. I know people that swear by Logitech and have had no issues but at the end of the day I have to go off my own experiences. I'm sure I'll try some Logitech products again in the future.
It's an instantly recognizable logo from a company that has been around for many many years. To the point that even mainstream people who aren't gamers or aren't into tech can recognize that 'G'.
Do u guys recommend the G502 hero wireless? Because as a person who can easily lift smth as light as 110 grams and has hands that are 7 inches big, i see this as a good option but ive never used a gaming mouse before. (I dont like the position of the rgb lights on the G502x plus cuz i think it would be uncomfortable for my palm)
Given those details then yeah I'd say so! Or the G502 Lightspeed instead, if you want to have the wireless functionality which is honestly really nice to have.
been using g502 mice since the proteus core was released, they have great support so while i have owned 3 of them i have only bought 2. an extension on the "sniper" button sounds great, i can't reach it at all so it just doesn't get used. i literally have weights in my mouse from an older mouse (including the weights that came with the mouse) because i like having a heavy mouse. but with the g502 hero maybe i am missing something, but i miss saving profiles onto the mouse. my proteus core and proteus spectrum both saved the profile to the mouse itself, but my g502 hero doesn't seem to.
Nice review. Can you configure the g502 x plus with the app to work in davinci resolve, PhotoShop, etc, and use it with shortcuts just like logi mx 3 does?
From someone who absolutely hates everything RGB and wireless, needless to say I went with the wired non RGB version. Im hoping the new X version wont wear down as easy as the Hero, which wears down over time mostly on the left side where you rest your thumb.
Yeah absolutely fair! Since the video went up, Logi did release a wireless non-RGB version which I think is the best one to go for. But on the wear, it should hopefully hold up a bit better than the previous models.
I've had a 700S for 6 years without issue and its been fantastic. Recently I replaced it with a 604 and was extremely disappointed. The build quality of the newer mouse felt like a cheap toy. It was smaller as well and my hand didn't it properly. I might give this one a shot but right now I'm looking at the Basilisk v3 pro
Ive had G700s for 6+ years aswell! But sadly a few days ago I have noticed that my right click started to "Double click".. Tried looking for another 700s on the market but I cant find any! Super sad. But this one right here looks good ngl :D
You've earned a new sub! All my tech is currently dead or dying so I'm really looking for people who know what they're talking about so that I can remain informed of what's going on in the tech world. That way, once I can afford it, I'll be able to get exactly what I want and need. Since you did a fairly good job convincing me to get this mouse even though I'm not really a serious gamer, I might have made a mistake here but we'll see how this goes, lol. 😅👍
hahaha thanks for the kind words! Yeah I do my best to give everyone all the information they need to be informed on whether something is for them. So defs comment ideas or the types of things you would love to see covered in videos and Ill make sure to try and address them!
Ive read this is also wider but you dont state that, i get cramps from playing with my 502 H, my X should be here on Wednesday! I love the side button, they used to have a slogan, 'Never miss a headshot', i renamed it and use it to this day ''Never miss a screen shot'' lol Oh and btw you dont need to keep the Logitec software open, you can simply save it to onboard and close the APP, it will remember your saved preset.
I've got some digital measuring calipers coming in so that I can accurately comment on stuff like this so ty for pointing it out! Yes with saving it to onboard, its designed to work like that but in actuality, its hit and miss when it wants to work. Just read some of the other comments here to see haha.
I can only compare to what I have available haha and rest assured the G502 lightspeed is the same as the hero but with a better sensor, which I do mention in the video that the lightspeed is your point of comparison.
i use a corsair k95 platinum and a corsair nightsword mouse. I love em both but my 0 key has a bad green led which annoys me and im just overall bored of them. Ive been looking for a replacement to try but if its anything other than high end im gonna feel like its a downgrade. logitech in my mind is low end generic brand that over the years has grown into a pretty dope company. And the g502 x plus looks dope . i may have to give that a try.. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!! What software does logitech use? because if i have to use ANOTHER software im gonna jump off a cliff.. Not wanting to add another rgb software has limited my options a ton. MSI Dragon center - msi meg z390 godlike/ msi gxt 3090ti/ case argb/ case rgb. case fans asus aura - ryujin ii 360/ asus xg438Q corsair Icue - dominator platinum/ k95 plat/ nightsword The next pc i build will be ONLY 100% all from the same company (at least the things with argb/rgb) because it is a nightmare trying to make all these softwares work with each other. always has been.
Man, I absolutely love the detail and breadth of that review for a mouse, it's really, really cool! Subscribed ;-) Also I must say I've been a fan of Logitech's 500-series for a long time (I had two MX500's before getting a G502 in the 2010's), and I've rarely if ever wanted to buy a new one because of new features --- the shape, the general design is just good enough for me. I gamed on MX500's and then on 502's regardless of their version. I owned so many FPS with that mouse, lol. I'm actually happy with my O.G. Proteus G502 right now, for what little gaming I do (and I tend to revert to my office/programmer MX Master in slow games where speed isn't a concern). But I'll definitely buy the X Plus when I replace my 502 : )
yeah I totally feel that. Hence why I used a G502 for so long as well. MX Master 3 is my editing mouse while the 502 handled everything else. I have enter and delete bound to the G7 and G8 buttons and man the amount you can do without moving your hands as much increases so much XD But yeah you will be incredibly happy with the upgrade.
hey there, how does the shape of the MX500 compare to the G502? been thinking about moving to a G502 for ages but used to the G500 shape, which is very similar to the MX500.
I prefer heavier mice so I'll be sticking with my G502 Hero until I can get a ROG Spatha X... as for why I prefer the heavy ones it's cause they stay put better.(I have a heavy palm grip)
Just found this video and I bought a G502 Hero about the same time this video came out and I got an amazing deal!! I found one at my local Wal-Mart here in DFW Texas for only $29.99!
if they could bring this down to less then 80 grams i would get it for full price! with optical switches and schroll wheel too it will last for a lifetime with the build quality it has.
I ordered it I came from an old g503 lightspeed. Went with the g503x plus. I got it today and the difference is amazingly much for me could never really reach the sniper button and I use it a lot I improved my gameplay by tons. I paid 135 this is a lot of money for me in these inflation times but for me it's deff worth it. I suggest everyone wondering if they should upgrade see if they can test it out at an local seller or if you have a 30day return policy as in the Netherlands to try it out. It's amazing and it feels like a big improvement in everyway.
Seems good mouse but I cannot move away from "mmo" mouses however Razer made the removable/changeable side panel which is absolutely perfect for me. using 6 button panel for FPS games and 12 button for MMO games and 3D-modelling etc. Definetly will try logitech mouses again if they ever make something like that and wireless.
Um so given you commented this on a video about gaming mice, I will start by saying that, your phone will not charge on the Logitech Power Play Charging Mouse Pad. It ONLY charges Logitech mice that have the power puck underneath. Regardless of whether your phone has Qi charging or not is irrelevant, the mouse But for regular wireless chargers, the short answer is yes. Qi charging is a standard that can be supported. So for example, if your phone supports Qi charging, then it can take advantage of wireless chargers that support Qi charging too. If its just a basic wireless charger, it will still work ofc, it just wont have the fast charging speed that Qi charging brings.
For everyone who has commented on my fingernails, I hear you guys loud and clear lmao and it has been addressed.
But anyway, What do you think of these new mice? Will you be picking one of them up?
Got one yesterday - a nice mouse overall but the switches have a very pingy sound.
I loved the G9x, the G502 caused my hand
to cramp. No more logitech for me, that shape is way too steep. Viper Ultimate all the way.
I will keep my Corsair Nightsword RGB.
I absolutely love my wired G502. I will buy a G502 X wired if I find a legitimate improvement or if I simply need another mouse.
If it fixes the horrible scroll wheel issues the G502 has then in an instant. Going to a plastic scroll wheel though seems pretty bad, it might fix the moment of inertia problem the G502 has but it also means less inertia for long flicks.
The way you superimposed your hand on the mouse is a genius way to fully see how the mouse fits with your hand. Top production quality!
hahaha thank you!
I was thinking the exact same thing! So smart

Hey mate, a bit late, just bought one and wanted to thank you for the review. i have no doubt this channel will go far in the future!
Aw that is so kind! Thank you! I've got many things cooking for the future :D
The X and X Plus use a brand new optical-mechanical switch so double clicking issues should be a thing of the past!
the older G502 being heavy is actually one of my favorite features tbh
heavy is terrible. Gave me tennis elbow when i play adc in league of legends. switch to a 60-70gram mouse, it went away. But then i played like 6 hours a day. Heavy is good, for precision, but is kinda bad for long periods of time.
Reminder that gaming mice are based on preference :)
If someone wants a heavy mouse, doesnt make it terrible, just terrible for someone who prefers a lighter mouse.
Most people who switch to a sub 60 gram mouse and make even half an hour of effort to get used to it love it and also noticeably improve in mechanical skill.
same here it makes me so mad it did not even come with weights this mouse was to light and the shape was not as good as 502hero
@@Jackthetraveller When I first saw this I went and got 2 extra Heros just so they aren't gone when I need a replacement. Overkill? Who cares :D
Really appreciate the amount of work put into this review. Amazing.
Appreciate that a lot! Was quite proud of this video :D
Got mine when it released and I love it. I use it with the Powerplay pad too.
I love everything about it this mouse since I had the original 502 a long time ago but ever since I moved on to the superlight I can never use a heavier mouse ever again.
I bought the G502 X Plus a couple of months ago. With the LED lights off the battery life is about 2 weeks on a single charge. It's crazy.

There is an inactivity light setting that it goes to when the mouse isnt being used but you can change that.
ghub is buggy, it keeps crashing sometimes for no reason

I like my new G502 X plus, it's super light and charges back up super fast with usb-c. But, after two weeks the rubber thumb rests started to show some wear and tear. It's a good mouse, just for 150+ you'd think it'd last a bit more.
"super light" 😭
@@qkyvanilla its very light for its size, some people prefer the bulkier mouses with more features compared to cheap feeling small lightweight mouse.

I would like a mouse with more buttons but now because of the superlight, weight is the biggest determining factor for me
Same. I can't use anything else for gaming anymore. I use a g604 for regular day to day stuff though for the buttons.
To bad it does not have free scroll wheel g pro :(
The G502 X and X plus do have the free scroll wheel :)
They really did nail it so well didn't they.
Just ordered mine. thanks for the review mate.
No worries! Glad it could help :D
@@Techtacula I get that. It's personal preference. I don't have that issue. But I can see why that would be a turn off.
You know what makes it even better I bought a brand new one for $70 I took the wrapping off myself and yes it was the x plus wireless white version
My dream mouse is the love child between the G502 and the G604 with it's 6 side buttons, but I guess that won't happen any time soon.
Same I would love a mmo mouse but the look and wait of the g502
Pretty sure that's the G700s. At least it is for me, even with the older sensor. I updated my switches years ago. Problem is they stopped making it and to buy new is anywhere from $200 to $400. Nice thing is there is a pretty good supply of rebuild parts.
My dream mouse is anything BUT a g502

What an awesome high quality video. I was so impressed I subscribed

No probs! I try my best to cover every detail so I'm glad it helped!
gpro superlight is my go to for gaming. Can't beat it. For regular use i still use my g604 which in my opinion is better than the g502 for the buttons and it's basically the same ergonomics as the g502
I would LOVE for Logitech to reboot the G604 with the same treatment of the G502 X & X Plus

I know lots of these so called enthusiasts that have really old gear.

Index on G8 (Primary Click - Fire/Attack)
Middle on Left Click (Secondary Click - ADS)
Ring on Right Click (Left CTRL - Crouch/Change Stance/Slide/Dive)
Pink on the right grip
Thumb touching all 3 side buttons which are ( `~ - Push to talk for Discord for me, Forward - Lethal Throwables, Backward - Melee Attack or Tactical depends on the game)
Honestly so awesome to hear! And yeah sometimes just having a more comfortable grip can make the difference and everyone has a preference for weight so I'm honestly so glad to hear its working out way better for ya! Top those leader boards ya legend
The G602 and the G604 are still my favorite mice.
I had the double klick issue, too, on the lightspeed. i soldered in a new switch :D
haha thats one way to fix it!
I just snagged one of these brand new off of FB Marketplace for $40 and am absolutely in love with it. Best mouse ive ever owned by far
Hell yeah! Absolute steal, good stuff!
Amazing Video man good breakdown
Thanks so much!
Alternate between Pro X Superlight and Basilisk v3 Pro, the latter being superior imo to the 502 X series
All the other buttons I mapped to keys on the keyboard which are easy to keybind in games for more complex moves.
wait holy crap sniper button to crouch is genius, im doing that
My sniper button is ALWAYS bound to push to talk for Discord.
Damn thats a long lasting mouse! Good on ya!
I still want companies to try to make CM Xornet type of mouse. Short at 10.5 cm, normal wideness at 7.5 cm, the interesting ergonomics that fit the small hand perfectly.
have they replaced the dome switches on the middle wheel? they were a pain point for me
I remember when you were mentioning this video during the Stream Room podcast, at the time my G604 was working great, though now it's having the double click issue.
Really glad you mentioned this new G502 has different click switches and won't have the same issue.
I'll keep the G502 X Lightspeed Wireless in mind as a possibility for my new mouse. (I overthink and spend so much time researching, not sure if I'll pick this up just yet)
Though, I do wonder if they would re-release the older mouse models with the new optical-mechanical switches.
Can those leds serve for years? Especially in this mouse
Seems like some bad luck. I have the powerplay and I havent needed to charge it at all. And thats with RGB on at full brightness.
It is now plastic not braided unfortunately, it feels cheaper than the 502 hero
@@lesagraham3886 That is sad, Saving a couple cents on the cord. I guess I will find another Hero if mine starts having issues.
Got the 502 x Plus, but the 502 Hero is better ergonomic for my taste.
Soft plastic unfortunately and my cat love that unlile the braided ones... so i have to look for a wireless one now 😢
the 502hero is better in every way i just wish it was wireless like this one. this mouse made me mad to light no weights bad shape
Any difference with battery life compare with G502 Lightspeed mice ?
Absolutely! Given the timeframe of the review, I didn't get to a point of needing to clean the X but since then, 100% agree with this haha
Im considering this or the pro x superlight, thoughts?
(still waiting for wireless charging keyboards though XD)
Switch quality has come A LONG way since the days of the first few G502's.
The g502 x comes wireless also right
No, the G502 X is wired only. The G502 X Lightspeed and X Plus are the wireless versions
3:50 What's so iconic about it? 🤔
It's an instantly recognizable logo from a company that has been around for many many years. To the point that even mainstream people who aren't gamers or aren't into tech can recognize that 'G'.
@@Techtacula As well as e.g. Razer’s snakes logo.
the sharp edges on the original g502 hero were in fact so sharp that I once hit my hand on the button and it sliced me right open.
You need more subs!
Yea, well, the weights are the reason I use the 502. I tend to pick my mouse up and the weights helped me counter that. That's a negative for me.
It does. At least my Hero does keep the saves onto the mouse itself.
You gotta enable on board memory in ghub or logitech gaming software
Nice review. Can you configure the g502 x plus with the app to work in davinci resolve, PhotoShop, etc, and use it with shortcuts just like logi mx 3 does?
Thanks! And yes absolutely. You can map any hot key or macro to any of the buttons
I'll buy it when I either move out or my current G502 Lightspeed breaks
Sounds great!

I love the side button, they used to have a slogan, 'Never miss a headshot', i renamed it and use it to this day ''Never miss a screen shot'' lol
Oh and btw you dont need to keep the Logitec software open, you can simply save it to onboard and close the APP, it will remember your saved preset.
I've got some digital measuring calipers coming in so that I can accurately comment on stuff like this so ty for pointing it out!
Yes with saving it to onboard, its designed to work like that but in actuality, its hit and miss when it wants to work. Just read some of the other comments here to see haha.
Didnt know this exist! Thanks
It would've been nice if you compared the results in Aimlab to a G502 Hero as well.
I can only compare to what I have available haha and rest assured the G502 lightspeed is the same as the hero but with a better sensor, which I do mention in the video that the lightspeed is your point of comparison.
Ik that those leds are really good and can work for years, but are there other kinds of leds in this mouse, I persinally have it.
Only in the back!
For those that got the white plus, have you noticed any yellowing?
i use a corsair k95 platinum and a corsair nightsword mouse.
MSI Dragon center - msi meg z390 godlike/ msi gxt 3090ti/ case argb/ case rgb. case fans
asus aura - ryujin ii 360/ asus xg438Q
corsair Icue - dominator platinum/ k95 plat/ nightsword
The next pc i build will be ONLY 100% all from the same company (at least the things with argb/rgb) because it is a nightmare trying to make all these softwares work with each other. always has been.
Man, I absolutely love the detail and breadth of that review for a mouse, it's really, really cool! Subscribed ;-)
Also I must say I've been a fan of Logitech's 500-series for a long time (I had two MX500's before getting a G502 in the 2010's), and I've rarely if ever wanted to buy a new one because of new features --- the shape, the general design is just good enough for me.
I have enter and delete bound to the G7 and G8 buttons and man the amount you can do without moving your hands as much increases so much XD
But yeah you will be incredibly happy with the upgrade.
hey there, how does the shape of the MX500 compare to the G502? been thinking about moving to a G502 for ages but used to the G500 shape, which is very similar to the MX500.
BEST REVIEW ON THIS MOUSE ON TH-cam! CANT YOU DO THE RAZER BASILISK V3 PRO
Haha thank you! I will absolutely see if I can get my hands on one and do a comparison!
@@Techtacula u welcome brother
I prefer heavier mice so I'll be sticking with my G502 Hero until I can get a ROG Spatha X... as for why I prefer the heavy ones it's cause they stay put better.(I have a heavy palm grip)
Just found this video and I bought a G502 Hero about the same time this video came out and I got an amazing deal!! I found one at my local Wal-Mart here in DFW Texas for only $29.99!
I returned my G502X Plus. The mouse is great except for the scroll wheel/middle click which I use A LOT.
Interesting. Scroll has felt good to me, 0 issues.
if they could bring this down to less then 80 grams i would get it for full price! with optical switches and schroll wheel too it will last for a lifetime with the build quality it has.
I don't think at it's size and shape for that to be possible - so really you just have to look at slightly smaller and different shaped mice haha
I'm about to buy g502x over my g604 with broken switches. Thanks for the insight
Can you make custom profiles for different games / applications?
This helped a lot
I ordered it I came from an old g503 lightspeed. Went with the g503x plus. I got it today and the difference is amazingly much for me could never really reach the sniper button and I use it a lot I improved my gameplay by tons. I paid 135 this is a lot of money for me in these inflation times but for me it's deff worth it. I suggest everyone wondering if they should upgrade see if they can test it out at an local seller or if you have a 30day return policy as in the Netherlands to try it out. It's amazing and it feels like a big improvement in everyway.
I have the G502 X Plus and absolutely love it!
G502 X Lightspeed or Deathadder v3 Pro
Good vid and all but there's a very annoying buzz in the background going on with your microphone
Yeah sorry about that. It was an issue I was unaware of until editing. Been fixed now at least haha. Next video wont have it :)
Hi, does qi charging work with any wireless charging base?
Um so given you commented this on a video about gaming mice, I will start by saying that, your phone will not charge on the Logitech Power Play Charging Mouse Pad. It ONLY charges Logitech mice that have the power puck underneath. Regardless of whether your phone has Qi charging or not is irrelevant, the mouse
But for regular wireless chargers, the short answer is yes. Qi charging is a standard that can be supported. So for example, if your phone supports Qi charging, then it can take advantage of wireless chargers that support Qi charging too. If its just a basic wireless charger, it will still work ofc, it just wont have the fast charging speed that Qi charging brings.
