Hi Linus and team. Great video. However, be careful about showing Amazon pages (especially reviews) on-screen. I was almost banned by the Amazon affiliate program for using exactly those things in videos on my channel. It apparently breaches their terms of service. Wouldn't want you guys to get chucked out. Cheers for the content, Ben.
I used this mouse for a while until I unfortunately experienced those mentioned switch problems, however I can vouch for Logitech's customer support as they sent me a free replacement in no time!
I've used 3 in the past decade. Used the first 2 for 3-4 years each until the double click popped up. But considering the amount of use each went through I was very satisfied and decided to get another
I own a G502, and I like how easy it is to scroll on "free scroll" mode. The only problem I have with it is lately it tends to "double-scroll" until I cycle the DPI back to what I have it on somewhat often, and there's no driver updates, so it's not that.
some here with the double scroll from time to time... But i really hate that mouse for the simple fact that i wanted the none rgb one, and 2 day before i had the money to buy it they discontinued it, and forced a 30$ price for a rgb led ... was so mad
I have two of G502, and both serve well. The first one with wire that I bought in 2015, and the second one w/o wire bought in 2019. I LOVE the free-spinning mechanism which help A LOT, either in reading PDF or codes.
That's ironic because I literally did the same thing lol. I loved the wired so I bought the wireless. I just upgraded my keyboard too, from the Logitech G Pro to the Logitech G915 but I'm still not sure how I feel about the low-profile keys at this point. I really loved the Pro keyboard but having wires is just too messy for me since I'm working with a laptop on a lap desk on my bed (no room for a desk). I just watched a video Linus did on the keyboard but he seemed to like the keys like that so maybe it's just me. It just feels a lot like laptop chicklets compared to regular mechanical keyboards
@@BooglePoots i have a g815 (wired version of the g915) and i love it. I did however come from using laptops for 5 odd years so i was used to the small key travel but i prefer it. I hope the 915 treats you well
@@BooglePoots I have the wired 502 & G910,LOVE them BOTH !! Really when it's Dark too ! DAM I LUV that RGB ! But that's the Gravy, they just work great, and that's what counts. I have in-between medium & Large hands,so big mice are TOO much reach for me. Even though this mouse has long Key travels,it still works in both grip modes for me. But i don't claw it much. I tried ALL the Mice i could get my Hands on in Best Buy! YES,ALL ! There were only 2 mice that i felt comfortable in my hand with, the G502 & the Basilisk V2 . They were both on sale,I bought them BOTH ! I used them both, and i did like the V2 also. I use the G502 for now & set the V2 beside it. And yes,Windows will use 2 mice, but you can't do them at the same time. But since several Win updates it just didn't see the 2nd,so i just let it sleep. Probably have to reset the USB,just lazy. I also have the G933 Headphones,i love them too !!😎
Love my original. Gone through several sets of skids. Only problem with mine is the finger pads are dissolving - Kind of vouches for its reliability though as functionally it is still perfect.
The G604's buttons are much better placed for productivity, and I'd say even gaming. That one really doesn't get any attention, it's the only mouse I ever want.
Same. I've had mine for 6(?) years now and have zero desire to change to anything different. I have mine set up to go edge-to-edge on my 32" 1440p monitor in 3" of lateral movement and it is absolutely perfect for both my gaming and business use.
My proteus core still going strong since the day i bought it from EB Games.(its the model with the good switches) It works beautifully with Linux (Piper for DPI/RGB and its compatible with OpenRGB) and I'm gonna run it till it dies... then maybe fix it and keep running it.
Honestly, I think people underestimate how impactful the free-spinning (or Hyper-scrolling) mouse wheel is for experience as you are scrolling through spreadsheets, code, or documents. You can scroll slowly like a touch pad and then go fast as heck and then slow back down with minute control. Sure you could probably use the scroll bar or keyboard shortcuts, but it's right there in your hand. Cannot go back to another mouse without it. Bought my G502 from Best Buy and I will use it until it dies and probably buy another one.
Same, I use the free-scroll feature of my G903 so much its frustrating to use any other mouse at this point, makes quickly flicking through documents and spreasheets so much easier.
True. I have a G305 myself and I love it to bits, but the free spinning scroll wheel still makes me a little jealous of my friends who got G502s. The mouse itself would be a bit much for me but I still think about it any time I try to scroll through a document, spreadsheet, web page, code, and anything else similar haha
This mouse is the definition of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" 🤷♂️ it feels great in the hand and it isn't that heavy as some people like to complain about it
well it certainly needs some fixing. The skates/feet are really substandart at that price range and you get far better feel from aftermarket ones, even cheap ones. Grinding away the checkered designe along one edge also improves the glide, as the design is at the same hight as the feet and gets stuck on your mousepad.
I looked through hundreds of listings before buying this one and after a couple years with it, I find it obvious why that model got so popular, even with competition on the specs. When you looked at most models you immediately started to find crazy patterns. The ones that are solely focused on flashiness and lights but fails easily or has poor sensor registering, the ones skimped on quality for the sake of specs on paper, but you regret it the moment you unpack and connect it, the minimalistic ones to the point you really wouldn't call it gaming mouse any more, and the miniatures designed for hobbit hands or people that move the mouse entirely with their fingertips without palm contact.
I use it in music production. There's so many Ctrl-click/Alt-click/Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Windows-click shortcuts in Pro Tools, having the modifier keys mapped to the thumb buttons is such a workflow boost. I also like the weights, not because it's heavier though, but because placing weights in the front shifts the center of gravity to actually make it feel lighter, at least for my grip. On top of that, I've had it for nearly 5 years now and I can't tell a difference from when it was new. Those factors, plus the ergonomic layout, has me a very happy customer. When/if this wears out, I'm getting another one.
My only complaint is the overall durability of it. I've had 3 since 2019, all due to the Mouse 2 switch dying on me. Regardless, I still don't think I'll ever have another mouse. My hand size is perfect for it, I actually love the heavier weight, and the DPI switch being right next to Mouse 1 is extremely convenient for me. Since I game at a low sens, but work and browse at a higher sens, switching between them is just super fast and fluid. I actually just moved onto the G502 Lightspeed and I don't think I will ever get another mouse again.
@@lobsangwhite How is the wireless version? Is there any slight difference or improvements other than being wireless? I also suffered from this super sensitive tilt wheel in G502 Hero wired, I wonder if they fixed that on wireless version.
@@kornkernel2232 well, I jump from proteus to wireless so to me it was a big difference, but the last 502 wired and the wireless one seems to be the same mouse tbh. EDIT: Battery and portability is a huge advantage, I can go anywhere with my mouse and keep my shortcuts with me (only one profile on memory) and battery life is about 70H even when I akeep my RGB on all the time (only logo)
I know most mice with a generous amount of macro buttons are usually labeled “MMO” or “gaming” but I can’t tell you how awesome those things are from a professional productivity standpoint. I spend a lot of time in Outlook at work and have multiple quick actions programmed to the macro g-keys on my G604. At home, they’re great for quickly swapping between tools in Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.
100 agreed. I used to use Excel a lot for a job I had for a large tech company. Using all of those buttons for various macros and functions and having multiple profiles to use within various different spreadsheets blew my productivity through the roof when I was using a Corsair Scimitar Pro.
I do think gaming mice are just better for any productivity and graphics relayed work, even without extra buttons, though those help as well. You can feel the faster response and less angle snapping, better hand eye coordination. Though you don't care that much about maximum tracking speed which is another feature. Also my left hand has a few damaged fingers so having extra buttons on my right hand helps taking the load off it. But I do wish they made much, much smaller variants, they're kind of gargantuan for me.
I use my old G502 with a loose scroll wheel at work. Its perfect since I get a much bigger mouse than what they provide me and I got copy/paste, enter and deletes keys bound on it.
I have been using G502 Proteus Core since late 2014. Everyday I wait for it to show any faults so that I can finally replace it, but this thing is so well made that even in 2022 my G502 is still going strong. Looks like the Logitech reliability is helping me save money since my older mouse was a Razer Mamba 2012 which started showing severe tracking and clicking issues within the first year and just died in the following months.
With me it’s the same I had the mamba tournament edition but after a sensor error I send it back and got me the g502. Since I have it all my friends Switches there mouses for a few times (spending lots of money) and ending up with the g502 ever since after they tried my mouse On a lan.
I (ab)used my G502 for about 6 Years now. A year ago i bought the 502 SE as a replacement just in case anything starts failing on my current one. The only thing failing by now is the rubber coating and the led starts to dim a bit, but on the functional side everything is fine. (The mouse is in heavy use btw. atleast 8 hours for work, and another 2-3 hours for gaming daily) Maybe it is the best selling mouse because it's reliable, feature-rich and priced reasonably. And yeah, im also one of the guys that absolutely love the weight of the mouse (fully packed with all the weights), for me it feels like i can move the mouse more precisely.
Same 2014 G502 Proteus Core here. I haven't bought a mouse in the last 8 years.... Yes... I have not paid any money to Logitech, since 2014(for a mouse at least). But I can recommend them. And WHEN I buy a new mouse, it'll be a Logitech. No question about that.
For anyone that thinks the 502 has just too much for you... try the 402. I still think its a great mouse with not so much of all the bells and whistles but still enough features to make it a great gaming mouse.
currently use 402.. going to buy 502 hero in case my 7 years old 402 died, i love this mouse, use this for work and my hand never get hurt even though i use it all day long.
@unholydonuts I'm just about to upgrade my 7 years old 402 for a 502, because the middle mouse button being nearly dead. It went through a lot, legendary mouse, I would buy another one if the 502 wasn't just 5 bucks more expensive currently
I loved my G502SE. I bought it because it has a good amount of thumb buttons and the adjustable weights are great. The two-mode scroll wheel is really convenient and the on-the-fly adjustable DPI can come in handy. It really has just about every feature you can find in a gaming mouse.
I had a choice between a Logitech g500 series mouse or a death adder from razor and I regrettably chose the death adder now even with a firmware update it causes my computer to have a USB issue on boot causing my computer not to start so I have to leave it unplugged when starting my computer
it doesn't have LoD distance setting because of Hero sensor it uses + it's low LoD out of factory so it have trouble tracking on some mousepads, Logitech made it like that on purpose so they would sell more mousepads, just a shitty move from logitech, other than that everything else is good enough, when clicks fail you can just get someone to fix it for you for $10 and ifyou put better switches it won't happen again, so it's a 1 time fix
Logitech has the best customer support I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They send out replacements with expedited shipping. It's so refreshing in a world where companies with shockingly terrible customer support like Razer exists.
They've replaced several trackballs and slip mats off the bottom of them for me over the years. Unparalleled customer support from them. I just wish they'd give us 'exotic' input device users a bit more love.
Logitech is my favorite company by far, only had great experiences and their prices are fair. Razer, on the other hand... overpriced garbage that always breaks down fast right agter the warranty died. Tailor made to fail and terrible support, never again.
Logitech, Corsair, and EVGA have always had INCREDIBLE customer support for me. I had a Logitech KB that was having an issue with double presses, and they said it had recently been discontinued, so they told me to pick a replacement from their store that was a similar price. Wound up giving me a new keyboard that was more expensive, and told me to just keep the old one. With Corsair and EVGA, I once had to RMA some ram and a gpu, respectively. Both of them sent me replacements with a pre-paid label to send my old stuff back. I buy those brands as much as possible for that reason. Even if it costs more sometimes.
I've had a g502 for at least 5 years, probably longer. It's been great, it's taken many a fall off my keyboard tray and never missed a beat. Definitely wasn't $50 back then though.
Bought the G502 Proteus Spectrum in 2016. Still going strong--good stuff. The scroll wheel is not as stiff as it was (not that I care much one way or the other) and I love the free-spin feature plus the extra buttons for gaming (knife, grenades, and such)
I bought this mouse mainly because of the scroll wheel. Honestly, why is this not a thing at other brands? For programming or Excel work this scroll wheel is absolutely king.
I’ve had the mouse for around 4 or 3 years, and have literally had zero issues so far, and I use it almost every day now. I’ve heard of all those issues yet never experienced so I guess I just got lucky.
I just started having some issues, but a cleaning really helped. Didn't need to use any chemicals, just a fresh tooth brush. Bought mine in 2016ish, same times as my girlfriend who plays just as often without issues
@@rafaelmarcello2750 definitely worth it, if you like the shape and heavy mice than it’s good for you, I really like it for the shape and weight customisation. I’ve had zero issues so far 🤷♂️
I've had mine for years, and its still going strong. Literally thousands of hours of gaming on it. I love how it feels in my hand, the scroll wheel, the programmable dpi and buttons, the weight. It just does it for me 100%.
I had the wired one, it broke (I probably broke it tbh) so I bought the wirless one. I don't use half the features but wouldn't change it for the world. Top ergonomics and the extra weights are awesome.
For me I fell in love with the button layout and the amount. It was the first mouse where I could program all the numbers on it for toolbelts in games, which allowed me to select quickly even in shooter games while on the move. The double clicking issue early on took a while to happen, I think the shortest time for me was 6 months, but I was gaming 8-12 hours a day. I remember I tried to give an off brand who's design was similar a chance and something else failed on that one I don't remember so I went back to the G502. The only major complaint I have ever had is I have pretty good sized hands and gaming with this thing for 8 hours makes my hand feel cramped. Its very narrow.
Gaming with almost anything for 8 hours will cramp up your hands. You're not built to do that ;p Little talked about issue, but many, many pros struggle with carpal tunnel, inflammation or cartilege issues due to too little variation in their movements.
@@KindOldRaven Yes I'm sure it would but my complaint has nothing to do with that. I noticed the difference right off the bat when using this mouse. I got my first G502 during Black Ops II gaming, playing with zombies. The mouse puts my ring finger and thumb too close together and forces my hand to cup. Something in that position was doing it.
The previous iteration of the app that I used with my Proteus was perfect, then they sacrificed user friendly functionality for "looks" in the new G-Hub app (I use with my Lightspeed) and it's a HUGE pain in the butt. It doesn't switch profiles when it should, so I have to set it to "persistent" before starting a game, I have to go into settings with a bunch of relegated settings like the red-headed stepchildren kept out of sight, but anything else you can lock for inside the operation menu with the rest of the settings as there's a 🔒 icon in those menus you can click (when "persistent" is off) but there's a 🔒 icon on the window that has the app profile (in the SAME page) but you CAN'T click it. The app was SUPER easy to read and understand in the old app as on startup everything was basically on the front page. Everything was, and it was easy to understand and operate. The G-Hub app you have to change menus/windows constantly when setting up new profiles. The mouse image (to see the key binds) you have to switch between side and top when the previous app had the image at an angle so you could easily see all key binds. Functions that did NOT need to be implemented, but they wanted it to look "bare and clean".😒 The previous app was easy to understand, easy to use, wasn't complicated, and it was neat and clean (as in not cluttered with options and overwhelming with functions). But it seems they wanted the new G-Hub to "look great" first and everything else is second. Now you have a useless "front page" of sorts that serves no purpose other than to have a cover letter presentation. Literally the few bits of information on the "front page" is literally presented to you on 2 or 3 other pages. Functions that you'd think would be grouped together but are separated by exiting entire windows/menus, just to have to go back to a setting the menu/window before to adjust when setting up a profile for the first time for the app/game. It's like they kept information presented at an absolute minimum, even presenting a couple of them in OTHER menus/windows, just to present the multiple menus/windows as minimalistic as possible as a "clean looking app" when all they've done is make it an app you have to switch back and forth and then find out sometimes it's just SHOWING you the info but you can't actually change that setting unless you go to another menu/window. Whatever. I HATE G-Hub with a raging hellfire passion only the heat from the center of a white dwarf can compare. So yeah.
i bought 502 as upgrade from 402, and the layout is far nicer than 402. the G7 and G9 buttons are comfortable to hold for long as part of "repeat click" macro (so you don't wear mouse 1 faster) and the free scrolling button really helps when the game contains long ass inventory or menu.
Had my G502 since 2015, has survived over 1000 hours of overwatch, over 700 of CS GO and hundreds in other games. I love the shape, love the feel and it still works just as well as it did when I bought it 7 years ago. I have owned 3 razer mice since in an attempt to upgrade from the G502 and all failed within 6 months. I always go back to the old G502.
Haha I have mine since 2015 too, and playing a looot of ow and some mmo. Still works like a charm! When it dies I will buy another g502. Easy as that. Probably the k/da version
I replace my G502 from 2015 with Razer Basilisk. The shape and weight is good enough for replacement for me, but I really miss the scroll feature in G502.
I still use my 2015 proteus core. Still works like new, it just needs a new external shell because it's worn, and the rubber around the thumb area is all cracked, but i'll give it a new aftermarket replacement and i hope it will hold out for a while.
I'm on my third version of G502 (had a Proteus Core for a couple of years, then got a Proteus Spectrum, now sitting on Hero). It just ticks all my boxes for a mouse. I've got a perfect grip, with all the weights inside it's a perfect weight for me, the design, everything. Never have I encountered a piece of tech that I kept re-buying so to speak.
Logitech G502 Hero is simply the best mouse I've ever laid my hands on. Using it feels like it was custom made just for me. I was playing around with the weight amount/distribution to find the perfect center of mass and it's so good I don't think I'll buy any other mouse ever.
Started with the hero a few years ago, and moved to the light speed wireless 502 about a year ago. Thinking of buying another on sale just to have for when mine eventually needs replaced.
I'm still on my first proteus core. During 2016-2020 I was a rager and tried to kill this mouse. It's more durable than a friggin volvo. Refuses to die.
This video is great timing to share my experience, this literally happened last week: I have the G502 Lightspeed (Wireless version of the G502 HERO). After two years of heavy use, I started to experience problems with the right-click not staying clicked. (Very frustrating when playing FPS games) . After an hour of chat support and 2 days of waiting for approbation. I got a replacement free of charge in under a week. For sure I can say that the support is great and the warranty is awesome. Yes, maybe the mouse is a bit pricey (I'm from Mexico) but it's totally worth it.
Yup, had a G930 headset for a long time and Logitech replaced it _twice_ for free. First time was a known failure on some early units, second time was due to the charging port breaking from use. I don't care if the product only lasts two years when the customer service is that good. My third set has been going strong for like 6 years, gave it to my sister when I got my M1000X-M3.
Utech MMO mouse for just over thirty bucks. Quick StarCraft control groups now, lol. & The RGB is a nice plus, especially to see all the buttons in the dark.
@@aaronfuentes5919 haha i got one of those Utech Smart Venus mice about 6-7 years ago and its still my mouse of choice for RPG games and is still going strong
As a non-gamer I don’t care much about the performance. I just love the design and feel with all the weights in it. I own 3 (2 wired & 1 wireless). Also love the feeling and function of the scroll wheel. I dry bushed the edges of the panels with silver paint and it looks like its made of metal. I think visually the design is perfect & looks badass on my desk.
I've had my g502 for about 5 years now and only recently have the switches begun to fail. It's been super reliable and definitely worth the money spent. I can easily justify buying replacements based of of my particular longevity with the mouse.
I'm not sure what happened to my first one that I had about 4 or 5 years, just stopped working but I liked it enough to just replace it rather than try something else.
@@kody7041 The g502 dropped in quality when they released the g502 *hero.* The mice you guys are talking about are the proteus spectrum and the proteus core. The G502 *hero* however gets double clicking issues almost instantly because of a bug. A firmware update can fix it but it doesn't fix the drag-stop bug which gets incredibly annoying if you play FPS and RTS games.
As an owner of 5 g502 mice from proteus core through the lightspeed, I've always loved the mouse for its shape, the weighted free spin wheel with tilt for horizontal scroll, and being fully programmable(including macros) with on-board profiles(except for macros😕). No other mouse has checked all the boxes for me. And now it's low latency wireless with the chip from the g903!
Unfortunately I haven't found the side-scrolling yseful. It's just too slow. I think I would have preferred something like tilt + scroll at the same time to side scroll.
The trouble with going with other brands is the lack of hyperscroll. When you work with long documents or code, or even webpages, suddenly switching back to a non-hyperscroll mouse wheel feels like going down a road covered in speed bumps to get to the right place. Hyperscroll is so effortless and precise at getting you vertically right where you need to be that it's a non-negotiable feature once you start using it. Not sure if Logitech patented it or something, but it's what's kept me from buying any other brand for over half a decade.
@@hypurrfpv9483 Sure it is smooth scroll can be heavily modified in many ways. Who hasn't used hyperscroll is the real question. Between ctrl+f and smooth scroll I'll beat you to any word on any page every time vs hyperscroll lol
Proud G502 Hero owner here! Nobody talking about the side-clickable scroll, a feature i love since my G500 mouse. I had to change it (the G500) after 12 years of service due to double-clicking problem, but now i'm planning to fix it and get it back on the road too!
Still have my G502 to from 2014. Still works perfectly. Never used the Hero, but I do use the Lightspeed now. Tried other mice only to find they were really uncomfortable or slipped out of my hand. Never understood the weight argument. Have yet to find someone that uses a lightweight mouse that made them better at a game. As for the switch problem, only experienced it on my first Lightspeed. You can fix it by being the spring in the switch. So far the second one I've bought has held up quite well.
low weight is really important if you play shooters with low sensitivity - the lower the weight, the faster you can flickshot for other types of games it doesn't really matter
As an owner of a g502 myself I feel that the contributing factors to this is how comfortable it fits in the hand, and the extra bottoms are really comfortably placed giving me easy access to extra keys for gaming or shortcuts when doing work and the fact that they give you weights to allow you to customise how the mouse feels
@@mega_1st You can change the centre of mass, as well as overall weight. Which, depending on how you are holding the mouse, can make a difference to comfort.
bought this mouse back in 2019. Still using the same model to this day with heavy use. Haven't had any issues with it other than maybe the rubber getting worn down and the scroll wheel and buttons getting a little dirty from time to time. Absolutely love this mouse.
It's ridiculous that they don't add an anti-doubleclick option in the software. Just have a benchmark for how fast you can click. If significantly faster clicks come in, discard and assume bug click. This exists as a separate piece of software you can apply system wide (windows only, "clickfix". It's just autohotkey!), but there's no practical reason they can't do it on the mouse itself. It's not like debouncing isn't already a thing! They just need to stretch its limits!
I love my G502 and even paid the stupid price at the time to get the wireless G502 Lightspeed a couple years ago and have no regrets. Tried other mice but the shape and the weight of the G502 without the weights just feel perfect for me. Also that scroll wheel is perfect for me when programming.
The G502 is literally one of only a few mice that I've tried that is actually comfortable for my massive hands. The fact that my current G502 is getting on for 3+ years old (only replaced my original G502 because the buttons aged which I bought in 2015). If it ain't broke, don't fix it is for me. I have tried other mice that both my dad and brother have recommended, yet none have been more comfy for extended use nor lasted as long as the my G502s. I even just have a spare G502 spectrum sat in a closet for whenever my current one decides to die.
I have an optical 2 button I bought in 2005. It has never broke, I never had problems with it. It is rubber coated. Most of the rubber has dried, cracked, and chipped off. Mouse is still going strong though.
Bought one of marketplace 3 years ago and haven't had a single issue. It's by far my favorite mouse especially considering the price. Love all the buttons and the feel in the hand in fantastic. Long live the G502
Daily driving my G502 for almost 7 years (since mid 2015). After such a long time of use and some abuse, the rubber pad under the thumb rest is basically worn down to the inner shell. Some points of the braided cable bent up and lost its normal shape since it was two years old (this might be considered an issue for this year model). The scroll wheel is also oxidized a bit from my finger sweat. I accidentally dropped it from the table quite sometimes. The mouse still works really well.
I remember the first mouse I bought was a G502. Here I am, 7 years later, still using Logitech because of the good experience with it I had. Now I use a G903
I've done exactly the same transition from G502 to G903. Only because I want to use Logitech Gaming Software instead of GHub. G903's older version is one of the only wireless mice that supports Logitech Gaming Software and is compatible with Logitech Powerplay at the same time.
have you ever had double clicking issues with the g502 or the g903? I've had to change out 3 G502s in the last year because of double clicking, the switches they use are so poor.
I've always liked the feel. Had the g500 before and it served for many years. Seemed like a no brainer to go with the g502. I've been really happy with it and used it for a long while now.
I was a die-hard G502 user since 2014 for a LONG time. We own like 4. I've personally switched to the Glorious Model O/Wireless. The G502 is great, but I've found while I preferred heavy weight before, lightweight is nicer for me. While it seems like "higher quality" materials up front, the plastic shines like crazy over time and the rubber on the thumb side just outright... melts under daily use. I run into similar issues with the MX Master line, but on a far lower level. G502 is a great mouse, but I don't really recommend it anymore.
Recently switch over to Glorious's keyboard and I'm still shocked at just how good they are for the criminally low price. The Model 0/Wireless mouse looks phenomenal, does it have the same sort of declicked scroll wheel as the Logictech?
That's why I bought the G402 for work; the thumb area still has a rubbery feel to it, but is WAY different. I'd love a G502 with NO rubber, as the textured rubber just "melts & gets grimy"
I used to use the 502 for the longest time, then the wireless version, however they both developed the double click issue and I switched to a razer wirless mouse. I still prefer the shape of the 502 though.
Well what would you recommend then. I've only had this mouse for about a year, but it's by far the nicest one I've ever used. For me it works amazingly, but I can't attest to how the materials hold up over time. I have the wireless one and I absolutely love it. The 100$ price was imo totally worth it.
@@stryker0ae use it until it breaks, it may not die, it may get the double click like mine did after a year and a half. My first one lasted a good 4 years without problem and I only changed because I wanted wireless. When yours breaks, start looking around and see what is good at that time. no point in not using it if you already have it.
@@MiGujack3 I had one of those a few years ago. It was nice until the receiver burned out, three separate times. Then I gave up and bought the g603. Way nicer
I've actually gone through 3 G502's. All of them ended with the double click failure. On my last G502, I did contemplate doing the switch replacement, but I don't have the hardware to do so. All that being said, I loved using the G502. It always felt comfortable, and I personally just love the free scrolling wheel. I've since switched to a Razer Basalisk, and that's basically a razer G502.
@@tridinh1011 The G502 *hero* starts having double-clicking issues almost immediately and gradually gets worse unless you update your firmware. But the firmware update doesn't fix the drag-stop bug which sometimes stops your sprays mid spray in games like CSGO and Valorant. So the mouse isn't recommended for FPS gamers. It has bugs. EDIT: I went through 3 of them in 6 months. Kept returning it to the store and getting a new one thinking they were faulty but in fact it was a common bug in the G502 *HERO* linup. If you can find the g502 proteus core then get that one. The proteus core is far more durable than the shitty hero.
I've had my G502 for over 6 darn years, and it still works flawlessly. I`ve almost worn through the cable and buttons, but the mouse itself still works pretty much perfectly
I absolutely love the programable buttons and their placement. I haven’t found anything else that’s both decent with the index buttons AND thumb buttons. So much so that after three years of good use with my 502 hero I upgraded to a 502 light speed.
I have an older version of G502 and it's the best mouse I've ever had. The feel, the accuracy, material, not a cheap plastic wheel and just everything.... I've had the mouse 3 years now and I would recommend it 10/10 !! It's just this good..
i still use logitech g500 mouse. not even sure how old this mouse is! its still doing great though and feels as new!! but the right click is starting to have some issues so im beginning to think that its time for an upgrade and the g502 just makes sense at this point..!! ^^
Best Mouse of all time. I got 5 of them. 3 x wired and 2 x wireless. Nothing can compete. Already tried all razer garbage copy's. Nothing is like the g502
I had a 502 Proteus Core a pretty while ago. The most remarkable thing to me compared to my currect 502 (The scrolling wheel died after 5 Years) is how incredibly much worse the switches on the mouse buttons have gotten. Even apart from the current reliability issues, my older 502 still feels miles, and i cannot stretch this enough, miles better than the curent one. I love everything else thats new on this mouse but if i could still use my old one, i would, for the buttons alone.
Used the G502 Proteus core for 5 years. And I'm a heavy ass user. It's the most durable mouse I've ever owned. But the g502 hero was a huge disappointment. Went through 3 of them in 6 months. It has a -bug- feature that stops your sprays mid spray in FPS games. To me the Hero linup dropped in quality.
@@NyangisKhan i had a proteus core right when they dropped and used it forever. the only reason i got a se hero core was for the rgb. but the proteus never had problems, and the hero one i got would, on occasion, un-ads when i play cod. idk why.
Had a 502. Everything is perfect about that mouse! What I love most about it is the adjustable weight. I love the balance of actually feeling the weight of a mouse (it give me more accuracy, develops muscle memory as well)
I love my G502, I even bought two spares to just have them around. I tried a few other mice like the Nightsword but honestly I don't think I can go without the 502's scroll wheel, it is so nice to have a durable wheel that can toggle. I've also never experienced the switch issues so I guess that's something to keep in mind.
Same here, the first nice mouse I had was a Logitech Marathon mouse, and since then I have never wanted to give up hyperscrolling, it's just too nice of a feature.
I have a g502 wireless and really like the look and feel of it. I only buy wireless mice now because not having a cable is so much nicer and worth the extra money to me. The people that say wireless mice have perceptible lag don’t know what they’re talking about. A low end Bluetooth mouse might have a tiny lag but a high end Logitech one, no way, not even with a 360hz screen.
@@FreedomForAll2013 It's also impossible to avoid it with a wired connection. The theoretical lower bound on latency is probably better for wired, but in practice it's going to come down to how optimized a particular mouse is and also the degree to which these tiny deltas between tiny latency numbers actually affect gaming performance. Logitech wireless mice have great reputations, and the consensus seems to be that their latency is even lower than a lot of wired mice. AFAIK pros use them in high level play at 240Hz+ with no complaints. If you can show with data that they're inferior to wired mice, that would be one thing, but until then I think you are just being superstitious.
I have a Logitech G305, which also has the HERO sensor while being lighter, cheaper and wireless. I know comfort is subjective, but the G305 is also by far the most comfortable mouse I've ever used as well. It's just excellent.
The G305 also really feels cheaper. Also, I think the ergonomics are just plain bad - a symetrical design just isn't good for a mouse. G603 is the sweet spot for wireless.
@@earl_of_northesk3617 its feels fine, its nice because it just looks like a mouse, no one asks about the spaceship on my desk like my 903. It a proven design
Agreed. I have one as my portable mouse because it's light, relatively inexpensive for its quality, has a dongle holding spot and a long battery life. I even have big hands but don't find it uncomfortable because the shape is relatively simple and not opinionated on how you hold it.
This is the reason why I tell new PC gamers to go to Best Buy and demo the mice and keyboards to find what they like. Because there's no "best" mouse and keyboard setup that works for everybody.
Starting off in SC2 this mouse was suggested to me by someone in casual tournaments. Gotta tell ya, I've got three of them, it's been a life changer... Gota naga, even the expensive RAT series.. I love clocking the mouse click on and off and the dpi buttons...
I bought a G502 recently cause it was on sale on Amazon and it’s been a treat honestly. The scroll wheel having open and incremental options is game-changing for me. I never knew it was so popular!
yeah you right the scroll wheel options are a big feature, I use it for basic work, games, just browsing and its a good quality of life feature. the groove and lip is also my favorite part that helps amazing for grip, great for tactical shooters I have found personally. Also the look of the mouse for this type of design looked better than any other I could find in its price range when I had bought it.
You never know how important a good scroll wheel is until you've tried one and then go back. I have a G502 at home, but compared to the wheel on the MX Master I have at the office it's honestly a little stoneage 😄 On the Master, the wheel automatically goes from clicky to free spinning if you scroll fast, and returns to clicky when you slow down. Love it, gives me precise scrolling when I need it and fast when I want it. Not sure how good it would be for gaming though. For productivity, it's wonderful.
Had that mouse for a good 3 years. Amazing mouse. Cannot recommend higher. Fantastic feel, great build.. absolutely beautiful. The software was easy to use, and darn do I miss it.
I bought a g502 hero because so far in my experience, Logitech always have a solid record when it comes down to reliability. I still have a 6 years old desktop mouse from Logitech I used to do gaming with and despite not being a gaming mouse, it could endure the punishments I put it through. So far, that mouse is still gaming hard with no signs of weakening anytime soon, maybe I got lucky with Logitech so far but I think It's just that overall they make solid quality products.
i still have the original 2014 g502, but last year started to do the double click, but tbh lasted 7 years before doing that, i can fix it but i already got a g603, it is a little smaller but i feel it the same as the g502 and is wireless, my wife has a g502 hero she got like 3 years ago and working perfectly, still planning on fixing the clicking on the old g502 because tbh is one of the best mouse i had, i tried the g pro but it was too lightly for me.
I've got a 502 and I also got a g930 wireless headset which still runs 11 years later after repairs. I've had other Logitech gear more recently because if loved both of those so much....and.... Their quality had dropped off a cliff. It's so sad to see. My g935 died after 18 months. My friends did too. My keyboard was crap. And I went to Corsair once Id had enough because the problems people are having with cheap key caps on their premium lines. It's so sad to see....
@@joohyunpark7054 yeah the g903 for example has shitty chinese switches and not japanese omron switches. Loads of people have the double click problem.
Same i treat my mouse like ass. I have been carrying it around for 4 years(not hero but og) never had a problem recently mousewheel click got extremely sensitive. But i have dropped it a bunch. Logitech is never the best of the best but just something you can get and trust it wont break within a few months
This was my first “premium” mouse back in 2015 and I tried a few other mouses but always came back to the G502 I hope they don’t discontinue it in the near feature
They already started making them lower quality ... I bought one in 2016 and it broke this year ... So I bought an identical one cuz it was so good but this one feels so flimsy with an even thinner wire
I've used the G502 since about 2015 and I am currently on my 2nd one, I will likely buy a 3rd when I wear out this one. This is my favorite mouse over dozens I have used over the past 20+ years
I've owned both the wired 502 (from 2017-ish) and the wireless version (2020). Both work great with only the meshy part of the cable coming apart on the wired one. I was attracted to it for the scroll wheel. I constantly switch between the ratchet and free spin modes, and I cannot imagine going to a mouse without it. I've paired my wireless one with their powerplay mat, and I simply never plug my mouse in to charge. Super convenient.
I'm currently using a 903 and yeah I'm constantly switching between locked and unlocked wheel, its just too quick and convenient to not use, especially when going through long pages, plus the powerplay mat is absolutely fantastic and if you have the money its 100% worth the price.
The G502 Proteus Core was the first mouse I ever bought for my gaming PC and I stubbornly refuse to switch to any other different mouse. I am currently on my 3rd G502 (first 2 broke due to rage) and still live by this mouse. Luckily, I don't think I have ever experienced any of the double clicking problems others talk about.
it was my first mouse too, but being honest, u are missing out a lot if u dont change it to better one. it was good when it released, but there are lots of better options now. If u are casual gamer, it wil be enought, but if u want to improve and be better, logitech g pro x superlight for example are so much better, and it gives you room to improve more
@@joel3187 it fits my hand perfectly and I love love love the DPI shift button, I use it all the time. I’ve laid my hands on other mice but none of them do it for me like the G502. Maybe I’ll get a light speed someday.
@@thatoneguy5903 if youre gonna get a mouse, and dont care about anything about comfort, you should probably not have a g502 proteus. theres a lot of options right now so i dont see a world where that mouse is the most comfortable, regardless of how well it "fits your hand".
I Bought a G502 in 2014 and used it till 2021 when i upgraded to a superlight. The thing is Even then when i upgraded, that same G502 was completely functional, outside of the worn rubber on the sides it had no breaks, no malfunctions, no faulty scrollwheel or sensor issues. I still have it and it still works.
Same. My wire got frayed and died, but it lasted me quite a while. Was a tank, abit on the heavier side, but I had no complaints. Was a great mouse that went through heavy usage. I have superlight now, and it's serving me well.
How do you like your super light compared to the g502? I’m thinking about getting a super light but it’s mostly because I’ve never tried anything like it and it’s gotta be nice at that price right?
@@moustashguy5315 The G502 was absolutely a great mouse, but the superlight is just way better for precise movement so if you want to play something like a competitive fps it's worth it. (i actually initially bought it for osu!)
I knew the mouse from the silhouette in the thumbnail. I got the wireless version, and it is hands down the best mouse I've ever tried. Had the G402 before it and it lasted me 4 years as well. Logitech knows what's up
I've used G502 since 2015. It survived my rage in league, overwatch and many other games. It's a selling point for me. Its robust, heavy so I don't move it too much in fps games. And if i'm playing LoL I can get it much lighter. Yeah I got the double clicking issue eventually after 4 years of gaming and abuse I've put it through. But the mouse is cheap enough that I didn't think twice before going out and buying a new one. In contrast death adders didn't survive more than 6 months under my hand. That's enough for me
Well, you were on the lucky side, mine started doing it after only a few months. Messaged them and they kindly sent a new one, for it to not hold the left click after another 2, 3 months. For me it's 2 too many, I'd rather pay premium for a mouse that lasts at least a year.
I owned a proper 502 Proteus Core. It was the heaviest mouse I could find with a good build quality at that time. The high weight is exactly the reason why I chose this. The extra weight coupled with good sliders on a slick mat allows for more precise small movements. It feels like the micrometric screw of mice. Low drag operations, yet enough mass to not be flailing around.
I use the 502 literally all day in the office, then all night gaming. We're talking constant hard long-holds on switches in 3D Design, lots of movement and lifting. It really is awesome, so light (with weights removed), fits my personal grip well (claw), and has all the buttons well laid out making it very natural to use.
I have almost the exact same use case for my 502 Lightspeed, which is the successor to my 6 yr old 502 Proteus Core. Productivity and editing by day, gaming by night.
I've purchased three of these for work/home/wife and I also recommend it anytime someone asks what mouse to get. It's just great, I tried many different mice over the years and I'm completely content with the performance, price and feature set of this mouse. I guess others are too. A+
I’ve ran many years on my G502. I love the tracking and extra buttons, but absolutely hate the software (so much that all the family in the house is running the older Logitech software because of how many bugs the new software brought forth) and I think the mouse has a little high of an arch, meaning it changes how my hand sits on the mouse. Still totally worth 50$ though.
@@jakobvanklinken They likely didn't spend a large amount of time in the software for the review. Using it the first time around or for a short period you're not as likely to notice any issues (at least in my experience) but once you actually start spending more time in it adding a bunch of macros, messing with profiles, etc, you start noticing those bugs
Yeah, I don't really like Logitech G Hub (or whatever it's called) too. Fortunately, G502 is one of the Logitech's mice that is supported by the older software too (Logitech Gaming Software) which to me feels less bloated. If it's also not your cup of tea, there's an option of saving all the settings to the mouse's onboard memory and completely uninstalling the software. Even RGB patterns are saved there!
My Logitech G502 Proteus Core broke today after over 8 years of daily use of several hours. I think the failing part was the cable. Bought a G502 Hero today and it instantly carried over my profiles from the Proteus Core. It feels great and it just works the way I got used to for almost a decade. It's a proven design that'll hopefully go on to make all of us happy for many, many years.
I've used a version of the G502 for the past several years. Had the wired and now the wireless. I use all of the features, I like the number of programmable buttons. I also have small hands and I have ditched others for being too large friendly in the past.
Love the G502, but sold it for the G502 Lightspeed and also got me the G915 Lightspeed in combination, and it feels so much better to finally game without annoying wires.
G502 Lightspeed is amazing. I'm using it for over a year, after using a wired G502 for many years...I feel no differences regarding the input latency, while the accuracy is superior.
I use the g502 and g915 lightspeeds as well and even though it set me back a fair bit, god damn I have not regretted it. (I also got the g935 headset and g560 speakers... WIRELESS ALL THE WAY!!!!)
@@vanlith520 nice combo. I used to have the G935 and G560 as well last year, but changed to Beyerdynamic MMX 300 2. Gen and a pair of Edifier Studio R1850DB. Miss the Lightsync Features, but had to get something without a Sub. PS: I tested multiple premium Headsets last year, focus was on wireless, tried products up to 350€, but they didn't sound so much different/better/higher-res compared to the G935. Then a good friend who runs a recording studio, and few other businesses in Finland recommended me the MMX 300 2. Gen. It is wired, but i gave it a try. Additionally, i bought a Sound Card/AMP to boost the MMX 300's loudness, because it by default its really damn “quiet”, and my onboard sound chip wasn't the best (before i bought the new Rig last year)... But after setting up the Software/Equalizer, and my first tests, i was blown away by the sound quality and resolution. So precise even on lowest possible volume level, right before the drivers completely turn off/get muted. When listening old tracks feels new/fresh again... i still get goosebumps sometimes xD Excellent in terms to locate enemies in multiplayer(-shooters) too, specially after fine-tuning it. Also fun for games in general. Might be a little too bassy by default, to some people, but that can be changed if desired. The Mic is also really good. Max recommendation, btw. Those Germans (Beyerdynamic) really know what they are doing. EDIT: I can not live without this one wire anymore to be honest xD I just wish wireless sound solutions could sound this good.
I used a G502 Hero for a good couple of years with all of the weights before the scroll wheel stopped registering every scroll wheel click. Until that point it was absolutely fantastic and I'm one of those people who loves a heavier mouse as it felt more precise. I've since replaced it with a Razer Viper 8K and although it didn't feel right at first the lightness of it became a hindrance that made me unsure. After about a month of use I began to use it just as precisely and my wrist for sure doesn't miss the additional weight. Any of you people out there still using heavy mice with a dying heavy mouse DO NOT WORRY about light mice feeling "unnatural" because it will feel right after some time and you won't even realise it once you're accustomed to it. Good luck gamers 😎
Got a G402. Love it. Fits well in larger hands. Lends itself for palm grip and more of a finger grip. Fairly light so easy to move around. Easy to reach DPI buttons. That's really all I need.
I also bought this mouse and when the switches went defective, Logitech shipped a new one over really quickly. It really is the best mouse I've ever used.
@@PMSTTR Same, both of my 903s had failing switches within a year each. Extremely frustrating. I had this mouse before them and it lasted just over a year. I love the features these mice have, but replacing them this often is just too much.
@@An4lAvenger I suggest you to buy better switches and replace the cheapo chinese ones. Would pay 3x the cost of mouses easily to have better switches form the start. Also weird for me at least is that there are so few mouses that have 4 thumb buttons. Helps a lot in web browsing to have separate buttons to go back/forward in history and tabs left/right.
I've used the G502 Hero for a year now. I love how its so comfortable in my large hands for long Rainbow Six: Siege sessions. But the scroll wheel was definitely too stiff when I first started using this mouse. Once its been broken it its definitely a nice all rounder mouse
I have a g502, and honestly I love just the way it feels. Not to mention the extra scroll wheel buttons help so much with any game I play. I remember watching a video where someone had it set to the lean buttons on R6. And ever since then I've been using this mouse.
@CREEZ_sinner I meant the extra buttons when you move the wheel left or right. However I have used the unlocked scroll wheel for a couple things where I'm too lazy to scroll to the bottom. For example, scrolling through the GTA clothes, scrolling to the bottom of Terms and Services, or even the bottom of the page in seconds. Sometimes I like to just flick it and feel it spin.
I own a G502. It's completely worth it just to use the scroll wheel as a built-in fidget spinner. If they added the unlockable scroll wheel to other models, I'm sure they would succeed similar to the G502.
I use the G600 for most things. I was using the USmartTech Venus for awhile. It's actually a good mouse. But I like having the extra buttons. I use them instead of buttons on my keyboard. So, I can basically keep my fingers on WASD and not have to worry about anything else. The side buttons are really easy to learn thanks to the "home row" bumps they have on the 13 and 16.
My wireless steel series mouse recently died and I went back to my G502 Hero that's been chilling for few years, the wire is def bit annoying after using wireless for so long but I was pleasantly surprised how well the mouse works actually, the precision and comfort is amazing, I completely forgot how good it was.
I’ve owned the G502 for 4 years now, got a deal back when it was “new”. Still works perfect for me now. If I need a new mouse and have the budget to do so, I”ll go for the Lightspeed version.
@@erikogren7996 I did too. Bought it based on a rumor that the lightspeed was gonna be discontinued. It's awesome. This video was funny; i've used a bunch of other mice since 2014 and they're all inferior. Why try the rest when you have the best?
I brought a lightspeed but had to send it back not cause the mouse but cause the ghub was the only hud it would run on and its was buggie wouldnt save my macros and that was a big deal for me made it useless to me. Maybe I'm the future they will fix that and I'll give it another try but til then I'd wouldn't recommend it to you if you injoy changing out your macro buttons.
I own multiple 502s and couldn't be happier with how it fits my hand and I love the extra button placement. All buttons are perfectly, and intuitively placed to fit my hand. Software makes macros easy to set up. I find it useful for cad to have some extra buttons to attach commonly used functions to at hand.
I had used this mouse for a few years before switching to the gpx superlight, and i have to say it is a really good mouse for the price. while it is heavy for some people, others prefer the heavier weight because it is steadier for aiming. I'd say a lot of it is down to personal preference
It's just too heavy and big to do any serious gaming with. It's useless for fingertip grippers. The overweight metal mouse wheel is way too wobbly too. I can't take this mouse serious for gaming, it's an obese mouse for palm grippers. If you are a fingertip gripper and want an agile mouse, stay away, get a G203 or something instead, it has a rock stable scroll wheel and is light enough for fingertip grippers to be flicked around.
@@aragen6771 Because that's what people do. Some are fingertip grippers, some claw grippers, some palm grippers. Fingertip gripping is the most efficient for gaming because it's the most agile grip, you move the mouse with your fingers instead of your palm. It allows you to quickly move, flick and lift your mouse, that's why fingertip grippers choose light gaming mice to further exploit that benefit, the lighter the better. That's why you have these hyper light gaming mice with holes in them, they're for fingertip grippers, but are useless for palm grippers. Fingertip gripping is terrible with heavy mouse like the one in the video, since the weight is too much for finger lifts.
@@aragen6771 the increased agility from fingertip grip comes from the fact you can use your fingers to move the mouse. It allows you to flick it around under your hand. Palm grippers hold and enclose the mouse like a tennis ball, they move their wrist and elbow to move a mouse, because they locked down their fingers. Not only does palm gripping with big mice result in RSI in the wrist, since all the strain to move the heavy mouse goes to the wrist, it is much slower to move a mouse. Most pro gamers use fingertip grip with light mice, maybe 10% use palm grip with a heavy mouse.
Been using the same G502 now going on 5 years. Zero problems and always works how I want it to. The original is great and the on board memory function is priceless.
Best Mouse of all time. I got 5 of them. 3 x wired and 2 x wireless. Nothing can compete. Already tried all razer garbage copy's. Nothing is like the g502
PRO TIP: You can use a molding rubber putty like Sugru to build on your mouse and make it more ergonomic for you. I build a whole hand platform on my MX Master so I could use it without having to claw the thing and it really helped out my ever encroaching tendonitis. I put in a little vertical fin between the pinky and ring finger to help grip/movement and it's amazing. Even my wife with hands half my size loves to steal it when I'm not looking. Don't stop at what the manufacturer gives you, don't be afraid to make it YOURS.
The G400 series is good too, i use this one currently (G402) and yes it's good despite his price (65€ when i bough it) and i wanted the 502 too but out of stock so.. After all, it wasn't a bad idea to buy this one, simple, confortable and light.
one of the main reasons i own a g502 hero is cause of the quality, large range of dpi, the fact that you can easily go a decade with a single one if you dont beat it and its one of the heaviest gaming mice ive ever used and i like heavier mice
Unfortunately I have an opposite experience of this mouse. I have only been using it for about 2 years and a few months and the right click has started not clicking or not holding the right click. This is happening more and more often which makes the mouse unusable. I still love the mouse itself but 2 years for a "quality" product from a big renowned brand is unacceptable to me. I had a similar experience with their G910 keyboard. After 1.5 years, started having double typing and non-registering keys. I did not expect this from Logitech.... Very disappointed
Havent been a die-hard g502 user since 2014 like others, I got my first one a year back but instantly fell in love. No issues as of now, buttons are in very comfortable places and as someone with somewhat large hands I can still confortably use either claw grip or just standard. Logitech's g-hub just completely didn't work, but i was able to easily find their older software which works fine for my purposes. no complaints from me!
I've had the Proteus Core for the last 8 years and I only upgraded to the 502 lightspeed because the rubber on the PC is almost gone and the wire is too short for my current setup. Solid mouse, would recommend.
The lightspeed seems to be exactly the same kind of quality as well. It's got great battery life too, in a month of use I've charged it only one time and that was when I opened the box.
As a life long Logitech user & current user of this mouse, I can say that the double clicking/mouse hold click not working properly is very common among Logitech mouse & that’s the key factor that holds back this being the best gaming mouse ever made Either you keep a spare/different backup mouse OR you simply keep on getting replacements over it’s life cycle
Yup. Unfortunately Logitech mouses are currently pretty much defined by their switch issues, as even their high end models use the exact same switches.
I've had my G502 since 2016 and the only issue I've ever had is the mouse wheel switch, and its not really even a problem, it just doesn't spring back up to the original height anymore, so to click the mouse wheel down it doesn't click, but it activates the switch all the same. will be getting a new mouse soon, but mine as it is now is probably 7 years old and only showed any signs of wear within the last year or two.
@@hi-its-matt you got worth your money then i must say cuz at this point i've given to the mentality a mouse wont last more than 12-16 months no matter what the brand
@@hi-its-matt The issue started gaining traction some time in 2018, maybe 17 and is basically caused by Logitech using a switch that isn't within specs of their mouses. There's a VERY detailed video on the subject. th-cam.com/video/v5BhECVlKJA/w-d-xo.html
I had to replace my G305 4 times because of double clicking. Fuck that shit. Wierdly, I switched to a Razer Viper Mini (Razer not having the best rep either) for the optical switches and never had double click issues for years.
I just love that mouse. As a programmer and gamer, with at least 8 to 12 hours a day on the PC for more than 20 years, the G502 Hero is a bliss to me. Sidenote: I always prefered Logitech over Razor mice - they just last longer and feel more well-designed overall. I had the first MX500, MX510, MX1000, Razor Deathadder, Razor Diamondback, Mad Rat 7 and now the 502 Hero for the second time, 2 of my brothers also own one.
Haha and of course, you also mention that YoChic cheap RGB mouse, which I also bought when I was low on money - but seriously, it's crap and I regretted the purchase.
I bought the mouse twice and have been using it for years. I have tried out a ton of gaming mouse but this one is just perfect for me. I would easily buy this over any around 200usd. love the extra bottoms p[placement, love the weight! love the scroll wheel. It is the only computer gadget I would buy over and over again. For all other electronics I am constantly looking and hungry for improvements. It is truly a PERFECT 5/5 Mouse for me!
I also bought two, both being the HERO (some stores here try scamming you into getting one of the non-hero models) - I only bought two cuz the first one had the double click/drag issue and interstingly enough - the first one had a nice braided and thick cable while the other has a thin non-braided one... Anyhow I still love it and agree with the 5/5 :D
I went so far and removed the braiding on half the cable. It started coming lose so I thought why not, better than having it rub everywhere. In the end, it made the cable thinner and less stiff, so a win-win.
I've had a g502 since 2015 and for me it really just came down to the ergonomics. All the other mice I could try at the time just didn't seem to fit. The weight was also a plus for me
Same here, back when there was no $40 option lol. But that $80 i paid back then has definitely been a good investment for how great of a mouse it still is!
I own two G502s. One wired-version and one lightspeed wireless... Sweaty Gaming, Precision Working, Lazy Browsing since i think 5 Years now...and I am super happy with them if they ever break...I'll probably buy the same G502 with lightspeed wireless...over and over
I had a normal Logitech G502 for about 4 years until the mouse wheel wore down to the point of no longer registering me clicking it. So i bought the G502 Hero because i was so satisfied with the G502 and i also didn't want to get a different one which i might not even enjoy using as much as my Logitech. No wonder why this mouse is clearly the king of all PC mice, it is so good that i will happily buy another one if my current one will start to wear down as well.
I have the original G502 still and have had it for 6-7 years and this thing has been through hell with me I have completely worn off the side texture for the thumb but it is still functioning perfect, I honestly cant tell the difference from when it was new. (though im sure the switches are worn out so they're not as "clicky")
I've had the G502 wired for the longest time, only switched to the wireless one because the wired one's scroll wheel got a little corroded for some reason. The G502 + powerplay mousemat is a match made in heaven I tell ya
Same setup. My g502 wired is already 5 yra and still kicking. But bought the wireless when it was released a couple of years ago with the powerplay. Still alive until today.
I used a G302 for a few years, honestly one of the best gaming mice I've ever used, but started having the double-click issue about a year ago...I thought that issue was isolated to g302 only.
I had 3 razer mice before switching to the G502 and everyone of them had double click problems after a year of usage. My G502 holds strong for 5 years now!
I love my G302 so much I replaced all the switches when it started to double click. Haven't had an issue since, still the most comfortable and precise mouse I've ever used.
Dear Linus Tech Tips: I was disabled by a routine surgery and have been out of working in the computer industrry for almost 15 years now. I still love computer gaming and have passed that lover for technology and gaming on to most of my children. (We had 7 kids, lol.) But I digress. I used to purchase antivirus software as a family license so I would know that even if my kids stumbled (or skipped into headfirst, teenagers, lol) troublesome websites the whole house would still be protected from viruses. At one time AVG was my go to but their prices seemed to catch up with McAfee's and that was a deal breaker. Then we switched to AVAST, a startup company that was hungry and was great with big deals on their multi-license copies (small business or family) and they were relatively inexpensive so decent price for multi-device protection for the whole fam. But just last year when we were between homes due to Covid I purchased AVAST and immediately regretted it. I couldn't play a game without getting multiple ads asking me to constantly upgrade to some new version that would make my life better to the point of taking my digital dog for a walk.... and I had purchased the full protection deal at the beginning because I wanted to make sure my kids were protected on their phones, tablets and PC's. Bui it seemed like they merged with Norton Antivirus and started their upselling practices and I was getting more pop-ups from them than I ever did from spyware and adware. I finally ditched them, even before the subscription was over to switch to the less ubiquitous and a whole lot less annoying Windows Defender. Where do I go now for antivirus? Who can I use out there that isn't going to ad-nag me to death for the next year but will provide decent antivirus and adware/malware protection for the whole family? Does that even exist anymore today or am I old and lost in a bygone era?
Hi Linus and team. Great video. However, be careful about showing Amazon pages (especially reviews) on-screen. I was almost banned by the Amazon affiliate program for using exactly those things in videos on my channel. It apparently breaches their terms of service. Wouldn't want you guys to get chucked out. Cheers for the content, Ben.
Cool
Love your videos man specially the casio sapphire which I cant find on sale
@Lukja Ya 8 damn that's crazy bro
speaking of double click :)
@Lukja Ya 8 smooth like butter like a criminal undercover 🗿🗿🗿🗿
I used this mouse for a while until I unfortunately experienced those mentioned switch problems, however I can vouch for Logitech's customer support as they sent me a free replacement in no time!
@Lukja Ya 8 shut up
I am using it right now and I’m yet to experience the issues
Yeah but i had the replacement do the same (g pro). I gave up on logitech tbh :/
I don't have problems with the switches but sometimes the scroll wheel scrolls in between the bumps so I have to scroll up and down a bit to fix it
I've used 3 in the past decade.
But i really hate that mouse for the simple fact that i wanted the none rgb one, and 2 day before i had the money to buy it they discontinued it, and forced a 30$ price for a rgb led ... was so mad
Once you get used to smooth scroll you don't want to go back is my experience.
Damn i owned this mouse in 2016 to 2019 i always hated it
because it requires the mouse to be heavier than usual. But, razer's basilisk lineup also have this feature
Probably dirty.
I have 2 aswell ^^'
I also have the G933 Headphones,i love them too !!😎
Mine is double clicking
Original G502 owner here, I don't want it to ever die. You can even buy after market skids for when they wear out. 👌
I bought new skids for my OG G502, still going strong!
Yeah, I bought it as an Gaming mouse, ended up using it as a productivity mouse, it’s quite good.
I dunno, middle mouse button to scroll works pretty well for this function.
Definitely, thats why I really don't regard Linus' "alternatives" as alternatives. They just aren't. Mouse doesn't have free-spinning wheel? NEXT!
This mouse is the definition of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" 🤷♂️ it feels great in the hand and it isn't that heavy as some people like to complain about it
For me that mouse has been the MS Intellimouse. I'm using the more recent "Pro" revision and it's my favorite simple mouse.
@@Pendarr I recently upgraded from the g502 hero to the corsair scimitar because I play lots of mmo's and it fits my hand a lot better
Heavy is good tho.
well it certainly needs some fixing.
The skates/feet are really substandart at that price range and you get far better feel from aftermarket ones, even cheap ones. Grinding away the checkered designe along one edge also improves the glide, as the design is at the same hight as the feet and gets stuck on your mousepad.
I agree, I think it's less that the 502 is "heavy" and more that other options are extremely light.
I used to use the weights to do the same until I switch to the wireless so the lack of cable change the center of gravity.
@@lobsangwhite How is the wireless version? Is there any slight difference or improvements other than being wireless? I also suffered from this super sensitive tilt wheel in G502 Hero wired, I wonder if they fixed that on wireless version.
Same, Pro Tools is just a pain in the A when it comes to shortcuts
Using all of those buttons for various macros and functions and having multiple profiles to use within various different spreadsheets blew my productivity through the roof when I was using a Corsair Scimitar Pro.
agree.
those buttons are great for shortcut and hotkeys.
I have so many configuration for almost every software that I use.
I use a 602 for the same reasons.
With me it’s the same
I had the mamba tournament edition but after a sensor error I send it back and got me the g502. Since I have it all my friends Switches there mouses for a few times (spending lots of money) and ending up with the g502 ever since after they tried my mouse On a lan.
U have to use the mouse for it to go bad
I (ab)used my G502 for about 6 Years now. A year ago i bought the 502 SE as a replacement just in case anything starts failing on my current one. The only thing failing by now is the rubber coating and the led starts to dim a bit, but on the functional side everything is fine. (The mouse is in heavy use btw. atleast 8 hours for work, and another 2-3 hours for gaming daily) Maybe it is the best selling mouse because it's reliable, feature-rich and priced reasonably. And yeah, im also one of the guys that absolutely love the weight of the mouse (fully packed with all the weights), for me it feels like i can move the mouse more precisely.
yeah man razer n steel series really had a shit qc, they broke like after 1 year. planned obsolesence. i have 402 from 2015 and no problem till now
Same 2014 G502 Proteus Core here.
I still think its a great mouse with not so much of all the bells and whistles but still enough features to make it a great gaming mouse.
the 402 hyperion fury?
used to own it. Its good
currently use 402.. going to buy 502 hero in case my 7 years old 402 died, i love this mouse, use this for work and my hand never get hurt even though i use it all day long.
Can u buy me playstation 6
@@komi1834 low lod is great
Logitech has the best customer support I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
The customer support is excellent. Unfortunately, you're likely going to need it.
@@thetranya3589 Yes, Logitech has had failing microswitches just like *every other mouse brand.*
I've had a g502 for at least 5 years, probably longer. It's been great, it's taken many a fall off my keyboard tray and never missed a beat. Definitely wasn't $50 back then though.
same it replaced a razer mamba and i never looked back.
Had mine for coming up 8 years.
Bought the G502 Proteus Spectrum in 2016.
Still going strong--good stuff.
The scroll wheel is not as stiff as it was (not that I care much one way or the other) and I love the free-spin feature plus the extra buttons for gaming (knife, grenades, and such)
Got mine in november 2017 and it is still holding its own. Great mouse
I bought this mouse mainly because of the scroll wheel. Honestly, why is this not a thing at other brands? For programming or Excel work this scroll wheel is absolutely king.
Because Logitech has a patent on it
@@w0xicKid seriously? or is that just a guess?
The metallic scroll wheel is sweet. Nice to touch something cool to the touch during those sweaty sessions :)

I’ve had mine for 4 years and I have had no issues
I've had mine for years, and its still going strong. Literally thousands of hours of gaming on it. I love how it feels in my hand, the scroll wheel, the programmable dpi and buttons, the weight. It just does it for me 100%.
I had the wired one, it broke (I probably broke it tbh) so I bought the wirless one.
I don't use half the features but wouldn't change it for the world. Top ergonomics and the extra weights are awesome.
Same the G502 proteus spectrum, had it since late 2018 and I’ve done a LOAD of deadly spam clicking and it’s never double clicked by acciadent
I’d recommend buying new hands
Functions that did NOT need to be implemented, but they wanted it to look "bare and clean".😒
The previous app was easy to understand, easy to use, wasn't complicated, and it was neat and clean (as in not cluttered with options and overwhelming with functions).
Still works like new, it just needs a new external shell because it's worn, and the rubber around the thumb area is all cracked, but i'll give it a new aftermarket replacement and i hope it will hold out for a while.
exatly the same here, razer fail constantly, it's pure trash
How would it go being dropped from sofa height to the floor every now and then?
I'm on my third version of G502 (had a Proteus Core for a couple of years, then got a Proteus Spectrum, now sitting on Hero). It just ticks all my boxes for a mouse. I've got a perfect grip, with all the weights inside it's a perfect weight for me, the design, everything. Never have I encountered a piece of tech that I kept re-buying so to speak.
Exactly the same story for me.
I love my hero
This video is great timing to share my experience, this literally happened last week:
I have the G502 Lightspeed (Wireless version of the G502 HERO).
You can also replace the switches with better ones. What I ended up doing.
@@genxgamerdad141 Probably will do that with the defective one.

I agree I own the se and the light speed and love them both.
Unfortunately I haven't found the side-scrolling yseful. It's just too slow. I think I would have preferred something like tilt + scroll at the same time to side scroll.
@@vanjagrigoriev1442 I use the side scroll as extra buttons when playing games.
Clicking scroll wheel in and dragging is far faster and more accurate than a hyperscroll wheel
I agree, it's a great feature.
@@UsaRubber Not in all situations and with this mouse you have a choice. Have you ever actually used hyperscroll?
@@hypurrfpv9483 Sure it is smooth scroll can be heavily modified in many ways. Who hasn't used hyperscroll is the real question. Between ctrl+f and smooth scroll I'll beat you to any word on any page every time vs hyperscroll lol
Fucking love hyperscroll it’s absolutely fantastic
So far the second one I've bought has held up quite well.
low weight is really important if you play shooters with low sensitivity - the lower the weight, the faster you can flickshot
for other types of games it doesn't really matter
you won't need to change g502 sensor to HERO at all, i've tried both, g502 sensor still on top of the league
Gotta love those extra bottoms
why would you ever want to put on more weight, makes no sense
@@mega_1st You can change the centre of mass, as well as overall weight. Which, depending on how you are holding the mouse, can make a difference to comfort.
@@mega_1st Some people really like a heavier mouse. I've been using my g502 with two of the weights since 2016.
Agreed, the shape is everything.
bought this mouse back in 2019.
I've got through three of these mice. I love how heavy it feels with the weights in. I've had all three LMB fail on me after about 8 months.
I like how you used “mice”. Even though it’s not the animal, the plural still goes for the word. 👍

I love heavy mice too, i was thinking of replacing my trackball with this.
I still have the original G502, works like a charm even after 7 years.
I love my G502 and even paid the stupid price at the time to get the wireless G502 Lightspeed a couple years ago and have no regrets. Tried other mice but the shape and the weight of the G502 without the weights just feel perfect for me. Also that scroll wheel is perfect for me when programming.
Same
The G502 is literally one of only a few mice that I've tried that is actually comfortable for my massive hands.
I swear by my G502 hero. The only thing that sucked was the infamous double click issue, which fortunately is pretty easy to fix.
G pro x superlight or any wireless lighter mouse wi be better if you lower your sens and get used to it
I have an optical 2 button I bought in 2005.
Had the same issue as I have had mine since 2014. But you can get a new top shell and even the cable for cheap on aliexpress.

I've done exactly the same transition from G502 to G903. Only because I want to use Logitech Gaming Software instead of GHub. G903's older version is one of the only wireless mice that supports Logitech Gaming Software and is compatible with Logitech Powerplay at the same time.
I'm still using my original G502 that I bought in 2015, I've just brought it to my office and gotten the wireless one for my home rig
i feel old reading that lol. I think my first mouse was some random black ball mouse. i remember when the mx518 came out... that was a difference lol.

have you ever had double clicking issues with the g502 or the g903? I've had to change out 3 G502s in the last year because of double clicking, the switches they use are so poor.
I got this mouse on black Friday 5 years ago and still my favorite of all time. Currently using it and I've experienced no issues
double clicking ?
@@amaramachupa6422 I personnaly experienced it within like 1-1.5month of use. (Tracking would also fail)

I've always liked the feel. Had the g500 before and it served for many years. Seemed like a no brainer to go with the g502. I've been really happy with it and used it for a long while now.
Also using the g500 for 10years but it’s time for a new one now. Not sure if i go for the g502 or the g305..
I've actually gone through 3 G502's. All of them ended with the double click failure. On my last G502, I did contemplate doing the switch replacement, but I don't have the hardware to do so. All that being said, I loved using the G502. It always felt comfortable, and I personally just love the free scrolling wheel. I've since switched to a Razer Basalisk, and that's basically a razer G502.
how long did it take for each of those mouse to double-click? I've been looking for a mouse that lasts for awhile
That's amusing because I sent back a faulty Basilisk and got the G502. Guess I've been lucky regarding the doubleclick thing thankfully.

I had a 502 Proteus Core a pretty while ago. The most remarkable thing to me compared to my currect 502 (The scrolling wheel died after 5 Years) is how incredibly much worse the switches on the mouse buttons have gotten.
Modern mice dont, but for a long time wireless mice were rrash for gaming. They only became passable around 2015ish
Surely its impossible to avoid it all though with a wireless connection
@@ShadowX012 I still wouldn't get one

The G305 also really feels cheaper. Also, I think the ergonomics are just plain bad - a symetrical design just isn't good for a mouse. G603 is the sweet spot for wireless.

I have a G502 at home, but compared to the wheel on the MX Master I have at the office it's honestly a little stoneage 😄
On the Master, the wheel automatically goes from clicky to free spinning if you scroll fast, and returns to clicky when you slow down. Love it, gives me precise scrolling when I need it and fast when I want it.

The thing is Even then when i upgraded, that same G502 was completely functional, outside of the worn rubber on the sides it had no breaks, no malfunctions, no faulty scrollwheel or sensor issues. I still have it and it still works.

And is it an improvement?
Logitech knows what's up
Lol I saw the shadow and also thought, “oh! That looks like my mouse” and welp, so it is
I've used G502 since 2015. That's enough for me
Yeah, there is higher risk of breaking something with that mouse, than breaking the mouse :D :D Know that, been there :D
Well, you were on the lucky side, mine started doing it after only a few months. Messaged them and they kindly sent a new one, for it to not hold the left click after another 2, 3 months.

Omg same but the double click problem goes away after a couple of months xd and man how often did i hit this mouse hahaha

Wow, my deathadder lasted me from 2013-2021
I owned a proper 502 Proteus Core.
This! I was very surprised they were positive about the software lol
@@jakobvanklinken They likely didn't spend a large amount of time in the software for the review.
No issues or bugs here with the logitech g hub, everything fine for the past 7 months.

@@RobBob555 I guess we can't all be as well endowed as Mona Lisa
Love the G502, but sold it for the G502 Lightspeed and also got me the G915 Lightspeed in combination, and it feels so much better to finally game without annoying wires.
G502 Lightspeed is amazing. I'm using it for over a year, after using a wired G502 for many years...I feel no differences regarding the input latency, while the accuracy is superior.
I use the g502 and g915 lightspeeds as well and even though it set me back a fair bit, god damn I have not regretted it.
(I also got the g935 headset and g560 speakers... WIRELESS ALL THE WAY!!!!)
I have a 305, cheap no wires. I prefer when you have the option to run wired or wireless, though.
Same! G502 Lightspeed with G915 TKL. Really enjoying both and don’t see myself changing in the near future!
Got mine a few days ago, I can instantly tell a difference quality wise between other mice ive had in the past. Feels amazing.
Got a G402. Love it. Fits well in larger hands. Lends itself for palm grip and more of a finger grip. Fairly light so easy to move around. Easy to reach DPI buttons. That's really all I need.
Yeah i had 402, loved it but unfortunately its wire broke
I have a G402 as well. Im surprised it wasnt mentioned in the video, since its essentially a G502 with less features, for a lower cost.
@@FlamezGamingandmore you can actually find replacements for them 😄
The g502 is amazing since even though I’m 15, my hands are big as fuck and this thing fits in them well
I also bought this mouse and when the switches went defective, Logitech shipped a new one over really quickly. It really is the best mouse I've ever used.
Haven't had an issue with their mice but my keyboard broke back in the day and can 100% their RMA is probably one of the best.
my switches also went out and I didn't even care to get it replaced because every mouse I get from Logitech the switches or middle mouse button dies.
How long did that take tho? All of my experiences with Logitech mice were awful. They never last for more than a year
@@PMSTTR Same, both of my 903s had failing switches within a year each.
And ever since then I've been using this mouse.
for what is this wheel future even useful lol I really dont get it
@CREEZ_sinner I meant the extra buttons when you move the wheel left or right.
@@retro3909 okey got it, this sounds actually very nice
It's the unlocked scroll wheel.
every time i see this scroll wheel i think of the doom guy flying to the sky.
Hello keyboard man
@@yuribertulucci6354 lmfao
I own a G502. It's completely worth it just to use the scroll wheel as a built-in fidget spinner.
If they added the unlockable scroll wheel to other models, I'm sure they would succeed similar to the G502.
Well there's the G902 as well with a free wheel scroll wheel, and it looks dope tbh
My MX Revolution had it back in 09
Yes, free scroll on more models, please logitech! I will pay big money for a lightweight wired mouse like the g502. Also better feets, teflon etc.
There's another version called the G502 lightspeed but it's 80 ponds on sale and 140 on regular it's a wireless version of the G502 hero
I’ve owned the G502 for 4 years now, got a deal back when it was “new”. Still works perfect for me now. If I need a new mouse and have the budget to do so, I”ll go for the Lightspeed version.
Did that exact change can absolutely reccomend it
ive got a g502 from back before it had the hero sensor, as a user of maximum sensitivity im thinking of simply upgrading to the more modern version.
@@sophieedel6324 why the hell would you usr fingertip grip
@@sophieedel6324 fingertip grip is ass, not much control
What a great video. Intelligent, funny, informative, well paced, clear and you left the sponsorship message for last. I subbed just because of that.
That’s huge customization cuh 🤣🤘🏽
The G400 series is good too, i use this one currently (G402) and yes it's good despite his price (65€ when i bough it) and i wanted the 502 too but out of stock so..
After all, it wasn't a bad idea to buy this one, simple, confortable and light.
one of the main reasons i own a g502 hero is cause of the quality, large range of dpi, the fact that you can easily go a decade with a single one if you dont beat it and its one of the heaviest gaming mice ive ever used and i like heavier mice
I dont get how beating it would effect its lifespan. Its not damaging the mouse in any way. It could even last you the full decade if you beat it.
@@David23666 you don't understand how hitting and beating up a piece of plastic might break it or damage it?
@@The_RussianBias r/woosh I made a beating off joke....
Yea if u add weights without weight it light
I'm still rocking it, it works and looks like the first day, and I freaking love it.
The lightspeed seems to be exactly the same kind of quality as well. It's got great battery life too, in a month of use I've charged it only one time and that was when I opened the box.
As a life long Logitech user & current user of this mouse, I can say that the double clicking/mouse hold click not working properly is very common among Logitech mouse & that’s the key factor that holds back this being the best gaming mouse ever made
Either you keep a spare/different backup mouse OR you simply keep on getting replacements over it’s life cycle
The DIY fixes to the mouse are awesome. Go community!
Paracord it and throw some corepads on it... It's golden I just wish it came in a lighter weight version with similar button layout
Yes
@@SparQz There's vids on people honeycombing them out.
Swapping out the switches on this thing taught me how to solder. It's surprisingly easy and a good beginner project!
@@Tom3kkk Mine has a braided cable lol
I went so far and removed the braiding on half the cable. It started coming lose so I thought why not, better than having it rub everywhere. In the end, it made the cable thinner and less stiff, so a win-win.
I've had a g502 since 2015 and for me it really just came down to the ergonomics. All the other mice I could try at the time just didn't seem to fit. The weight was also a plus for me
Had the same since I used two mx518 for like 7 years. I ended up with a Deathadder for the last 5y. G502 is too heavy for shooters for me.
Same here, back when there was no $40 option lol. But that $80 i paid back then has definitely been a good investment for how great of a mouse it still is!
I own two G502s. One wired-version and one lightspeed wireless...
Sweaty Gaming, Precision Working, Lazy Browsing since i think 5 Years now...and I am super happy with them
if they ever break...I'll probably buy the same G502 with lightspeed wireless...over and over
I had a normal Logitech G502 for about 4 years until the mouse wheel wore down to the point of no longer registering me clicking it. So i bought the G502 Hero because i was so satisfied with the G502 and i also didn't want to get a different one which i might not even enjoy using as much as my Logitech.
No wonder why this mouse is clearly the king of all PC mice, it is so good that i will happily buy another one if my current one will start to wear down as well.
i bought 3 and RMA 6 times
will happily buy again
Still alive until today.
i had the g502 for a while till the wire gave out, got the razer orochi really liking how light it is a AA battery for a month is great too.
@@enqine2321 Haha, the spots of, what seems like, rust give the wheel some extra grip!
I wish it was rust and not just paint flaking off plastic :(
My scroll wheel is all fucked up too. But then again so it every other crevice of the mouse because I use it so much and its so old.
The Hero sensor sucks balls. The G302 isn't comfortable at all, but the sensor is bloody excellent
I had double clicking on my previous G604 too. But that was after few years of heavy use.
