I have been looking at a ton of videos trying to find a more sensible way to make a puff quilt and you nailed it! I made one years ago the piece at a time way, and it was definitely a “labor “ of love. They get so messy and difficult to get decent stitching with the stuffing fighting you the whole time. I am so excited now to try this method! Thanks for sharing.❤
My mother was a quilter at the behest of my gran. She made a puff quilt in the 80's that was beautiful, save the pea green and browns. She made each square individually by hand with gran, then sewed them together with a machine. Hottest quilt I EVER slept under. The quilt fell apart and Is no longer, but what an excellent way to make one! 😮 Brilliant🤍
Oh my goodness!!! THIS is fantastic!! I wasn't convinced at first that it might be easier or quicker, BUT to think of not having to handle each and every square and fill each one, etc, etc, has me convinced. I am going to try this in a small quilt for my old furry baby dog to lay on and then I'll hopefully move on to a big project I have the material for!! Wahoo! Let the fun begin!! Florida!
🤦♀️ how I wish that I had seen this method 3 years ago. I have done several small ones for babies, and it took me FOREVER ... lesson learnt! 😊 Thank you for sharing this. I am 70 years old, and for me 'everyday is a school day' 🧵🪡❤
What an amazing method to this quilt… you have just convinced me to make this quilt! Such a quick and easy way to the traditional labor intensive process.👏
I used this process to make a puff quilt for me college bound daughter last year and it turned out beautifully. Hers was huge though because it was large enough to cover the whole twin sized bed. I also used soft, white cotton fabric for the back because the minky fabric was a fortune even on sale.
I’ve made 4 KING SIZE Puff Quilts, 1 for each of my children when they got married, using the old method. My husband keeps asking when he’ll get his, but between my 14 grands, I didn’t have the time I needed to do it…until now!! Thanks sooooo much! ❤
It’s heavier than a comforter isn’t it? Would you compare it to a lightly weighted blanket? It looks so beautiful too! I’m in love with it!! ✨🕊️💚☘️💚🕊️✨
‼️ GENIUS ‼️ I’ve always wanted to do a puff quilt. This is a game changer! Love your design wall AND your scrap organizer wall. I live in a small house with others. Once my bedroom is repainted, I’m “redecorating” with clear scrap containers similar to yours. I love how they brighten up your wall and are sooooo accessible. I’ve been following you for a while now, and I’m inspired with every video you do. ❤😊
Glad it was helpful Susan!❣️ Having the clear scrap pouches on the wall helps me use them up quick because I am looking at them everyday❣️ Have fun re decorating🤩
That sewing machine is a gorgeous piece of equipment. Puts my Singer to absolute shame! Lol only thing I can say is, it was very inexpensive and does the job, not quite as well but I’m a VERY old seamstress and can handle a cheap machine. Lol But oh my do I ever dream about yours! Peace and Blessings ✨🕊️💚☘️💚🕊️✨
I almost didn’t even watch this one because I thought there was NO WAY in the world I was ever going to make one…but you may have convinced me with this technique 😅
My cousin's baby shower is today and a week ago I decided I wanted to make a baby quilt to gift her. I was going for simple but then I stumbled across puff quilts and was convinced that's what I wanted to do. I found this video and decided to go for it. Well, I did it! I finished the puff quilt last night. I did 6.5 inch blocks like you did. I did 8 by 10 and it turned out to be the perfect size. Thanks for this tutorial!
Love this quilt! I got a pattern to do this from Sandrea Quilting in 2007. Her pattern called for pinching as you sewed the squares together. It was so easy! Her pattern called for regular batting and backing. I modified by using lots of super fluffy batting. So much easier than making the channels and tucking the polly in.
I don't know why this was recommended to me by TH-cam, but you do beautiful work and now I know how to make a quilt, which I probably will never do. =)
I'm so old school, I just LOVE the way you are teaching EVERYONE on Your channel this is FABULOUS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME A LOT EASY WAY. ❤❤ KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOU ARE DOING
❤ I believe I can do this!!! My daughter wants a puff quilt, which I really want to make for her. I didn’t have much confidence until I came across your video. Yours is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing these instructions.
My grandma(s) called em Biscuit Quilts too. I think that must be a Southern thing! The ladies down here Sure make some Pretty Quilts!! (And don’t waste Anything)!!✌️
@@TheSewingChannel I just wanted to show my appreciation. I’m excited to craft this Christmas and probably so much more! Inspired by you, your wall and the way you share!!! I’m just starting out. I’ll tag you in my video (whenever that will be🤣) of the project I’m currently working on that you made 1000% easier! 😆👏🏽🫶🏽
Yes very warm and cozy...has a bit of weight to it....I think it's more like a "comforter" for a bed...pretty to look at...But it can be snuggled with due to the soft minky....that is why I like it for the back instead of stiff cotton. My Josie loves to lay on puff quilts and nap😍
Omg! What an improvement over the one I started in 1963. Pure genius. Going to make one of these for soon-to-be-born great-grandson. Perfect playtime floor quilt! Hope to make it an I Spy. Thanks for great technique! ❤
So awesome! I've been wanting to make a puff quilt for 40 years! I never have because sewing all those squares for a king size bed seemed so dauning. But now....I can absolutely do it! Thank you for sharing! You're brilliant!!!
Im a hobby quilter from South Africa Ravensmead W.Cape area. I just love your easy method of tbe puffy quilt....this will be my next project for 2024 winter season....hopefully its completed by that time.❤
Omg I love you. Lol. Birthing, stitch in the ditch….enough talking already! I’ve been watching your videos about this puff quilt and have never moved forward with it because I’m just a sewing novice. Your newest tutorial has given me courage. Now I have to get a new square for the newer size.
Hi Tracy, AMAZING video! I am a very novice sewer and found your instructions to be incredibly beginner friendly and encouraging, so THANK YOU ❤️ Also wanted to add a quick note for those that are wanting to try this with a fleece front and minky back…I personally was able to follow Tracy’s instructions and completely LEAVE OFF the pleats! I made one fleece tester with pleats and one without, because I found pleating with fleece to be really difficult…the tester pieces came out looking nearly the same for me. The stretch of the fleece was just enough to not need the pleats. I’m so looking forward to cranking these out for Christmas presents this year!
@The Sewing Channel I recently found your channel, and your quilting hacks are genius!!! I switched my foot pedal and was shocked how fantastic it works and not hard to get used to! I also love how positive you are, so thank you for helping out a newby quilter!
I've always shied away from the puff quilts because of the crazy amount of work involved. Thank you SO much for this truly simplified version! Making these for grand kids to have at my very small house for naps and sleepovers :-) I also prefer the large squares. Your tutorials are really good and enjoyable.
Oh, Dear God. I'm crafty and have too many hobbies. I've never quilted. THIS looks SO pretty and soft. The fabrics..... my mind is in overdrive. How am I going to resist this now ❓❓
I never thought of making a puff quilt like this. This is the method I used when making a weighted blanket for a friend's daughter, without the pleats. Thank you for sharing.
Just finished my first puff quilt!!! It feels incredible. So cozy and beautiful. My husband and I both agree that it’s the best thing I’ve ever made. Wow, this tutorial was amazing. Thank you ♥️
Oh my goodness Tracy I love the big puffs. I must admit though the smaller puffs were just the thing when I made a puff quilt top for my daughter's shelf where the cat and sometimes her small dog sit at the window. Now, the big puff for the day bed out on the deck. These animals really live in luxury!!!!

I love your quilt! This technique looks much more doable than others I have watched… thank you for sharing it!
So much easier than the traditional method❣️

I almost didn’t even watch this one because I thought there was NO WAY in the world I was ever going to make one…but you may have convinced me with this technique 😅
Awesome❣️ It will take you a quarter of the time of a traditional Puff quilt to make🤩
All I can say is WOW! This is a great way to make a puff quilt. Thank you. Your instructions are excellent!
Oh man! Now I have another must do project.
LOL🤣
This is what we call and Indian Quilt thats how they do it back home

Brilliant idea 💡 👏 👌 👍
The first time I saw a puff quilt was 1972. My grandmother called it a biscuit quilt.
My grandma(s) called em Biscuit Quilts too. I think that must be a Southern thing! The ladies down here Sure make some Pretty Quilts!! (And don’t waste Anything)!!✌️
Upstate New York. I have never heard it as anything other than 'biscuit' either...... even from my Great Grandmother. Not 'southern', I guess.
MAHALO! So much! 💕 you saved me time trying to figure this out myself!
Wow thank you so much❣️ I really do appreciate your support Patience❤️

Does this make a warm quilt? I like the puff look; but, I want my quilts to be warm. Both of your puff quilts are beautiful.

You are so welcome! You will love how easy it is❣️

This is absolutely amazing. I have only made one puff quilt years ago. Ugh! You have inspired me to try this your way. Thanks 😊
Oh my gosh. I remember this type of quilt years. Making little squares and then stuffing and then sewing all the stuffed squares together
❣️
What a great way.i will try and do a smaller one first. Thank you Tracey 🇦🇺🤗
