My aunt made me an ugly quilt. It has blocks in two color ways and some three-dimensional flowers. When I first got it I thought it was ugly because of the colors she used, just what she had lying around. Now, however, it's a cherished family quilt that is everywhere from outside camping to the basement couch, to up on the bed. I love it! Thanks for showing us how beautiful and ugly quilt can be.
This video was great. I love how you think 'out of the box' like rolling the strips onto spools. I especially like your idea of the using the dowel to hold your strips as you feed them through the machine. You are always such a pleasure to watch and make me feel like I can do each and every project. Keep up the good work and Thanks.
I just finished my bag of 2.5” strips too! 🥳 Fresh start for a new year. I managed to make 5 quilt tops out of them! The rolled up tubes look amazing! ⭐️ And the finished quilts are beautiful! Congratulations on just having one tub - for now! 😂 Deb x 🤗💕
i love love your scrap quilts! I recently made 2 strip quilts with scraps mixing squares and strips and loved the mindless sewing❤ I have lots more strips to sew together for another quilt!😅❤ 17:57
Good ideas re: dividing into color families or themes (like all blues, Christmas, etc.). I have sometimes grouped all the ROY (red, orange, and yellow) and then all the BIV (blue, indigo, violet) and then another group that's neutrals (for me that means blacks, grays and whites, but it depends on the quilter). That gives some color cohesiveness. Love this series, Shelley!
Very encouraging....watch out warning to my three drawers of flannel strips and scraps....I'm coming after you as I see many hours of Christmas films, football games and parades that need mindless sewing!😂
This is always amazing to watch, I started watching with all those tubs and buckets you showed and I was amazed how quickly you seemed to go through those, also what a great idea for the re-purpose of the elastic spool holders. I hope you continue making these strip videos because they are so wonderful!
I love your scrappy quilts! Before I moved I had several trash can bags of scraps! Unfortunately I couldn't bring them with me but I gave them to friends that sew and craft! My mind is blown away with what I çould have made had I seen this video of what you did with your scraps!!!
Enjoying this series so much. Thank you for all the inspiration. I recognise some of those fabarics too. I think I'll always have scrap buckets to use up. Love the math numbers. I can't imagine just throwing away that much usable fabric.😊
your videos are very timely for me...I am going no buy ( or minimal buy, I won't beat myself up! Hey we have a local quilt show and a national quilt show coming early 2025! Surely SOMETHING will follow me home. Just needs a plan and use it up or cut it for the scrap projects going...) in 2025. Scrappy makes my heart happy.... thank you and looking forward to the next one...
Love the first one with the horizontal bands. They give the eye a nice place to rest and the color seems to help pop the colors in the strips. Love these videos. Wish i was closer so I could visit your shop. I'm in Northeast Missouri.
I love these quilts! I love coordinating quilts, these remind me of the ones my grandma used to make with all of her scraps. They were always my favorites. Your videos are amazing! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
My grandmother used to make crazy quilts, and I have to say there is just something about them that is poetic and awesome. I cherish them all and repair them as needed cause they are the most loved in my family. My sons use them and I hope they cherish them forever like I have ❤ great video!
Impressive. Congratulations on getting it down not one bucket. Maybe when you finally empty that last bucket you could have a show and tell (quilt show) of all the quilts you have made from the 2 1/2" strips. 😊😊😊
I enjoyed this video. The information was interesting and the elastic spools used for storage and spool options are useful. I have seen many videos creating usable fabric in large chunks but about half of my scraps are 2.5 inches that are stored in plastic narrow boxes. Time to get working. I like the idea of color coordinated or theme roll of strips. And a solid like sashing section of fabric to rest the eyes. Love all your videos.
My goodness you are getting organized. I have a lot of 2.5 inch strips. Many lengths. I have made a couple jelly roll tops. After a strip, i inserted a small focus piece. My focus pieces were cut 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 inches in lengths. Top turned out cute. They were donated to charities.
Wonderful job - you should be very proud of yourself. This is a great design that could really be used with any size strip. Another thing you could do is keep your strip box next to your machine on a small table and use sewing the 2.5" strips together as Leader/Enders.
Another fantastic quilt, coming out of your scrap buckets. I have so much enjoyed your journey through all your scraps. My goal for next year, is to follow your example and tackle all those scraps that I have. I’m sure I will be referring to quite a few of your tutorials for help to get through it all. Thank you thank you.
Love these ideas for scraps...I already have some spools of strips waiting for me. They now have a designated project for the new year. Love your videos; I am looking forward to more!
I am soooo impressed! What a project. This is the kind of quilt that should be well loved and well used! I can't wait for more videos! Happy Holidays to everyone!
Thank you for the continued inspiration for scrap management. And giving clear examples of preparing for using scraps partial sewn in future project. I enjoy your content, unboxing videos, and UFO finishes each month. Bless you this holiday. I look forward to future videos.
This is so fun! I actually sew 1 1/2" pieces together and roll them up like you did on your spools. I use them as sashing around small panels (like kids' soft book panel pages). The mindless sewing is just a great time! Thanks for all your ideas! I really loved seeing the quilt with the purple - a new twist!
I really love this series of videos using scraps. Im beginning to wish I had my scrap tub back again. I donated about two-thirds of my stash and all my scraps to the local quilt guild for charity quilts. Not to worry, though, I still have nine tall IKEA bookcases stacked with fabrics. I’ve been whittling away at them thanks to your inspired videos.
Love the way you used up your 2 1/2 strips. Going to start one in the new year. Might take a while to finish but I could use this project as mindless sewing
This is so nice. I wish I had that much fabric left over to make a project like this. That seems like a lot of fun to me 😊 Icoon voor Geverifieerd door de community
Another amazing project! Your creativity is incredible! I just appreciate your channel so much! I am so glad you said that even though your buckets are emptying, there are more videos to come!

shame you cant put a picture of it on here
Is anyone else going to be sad when that last tub is empty? This is a great series, and I've learned so much.
@@janetwise3248 we should all mail 2 1/2 in strips to the store
Yes will be sad to see series end!!
I agree!
Agree!
Scraps grow! Mine never go down
These look like great utility quilts---in the car for long waits, spontaneous picnics, field games, or firepits. Love them!
I call those Adventure Quilts! So much fun to see them used!

Wow, Shelley, this is an ASTONISHING accomplishment!!! Thinking back when there were seven or eight boxes stacked up-just WOW!!! I’m so impressed! 😍😍😍
I just finished my bag of 2.5” strips too! 🥳 Fresh start for a new year. I managed to make 5 quilt tops out of them!
The rolled up tubes look amazing! ⭐️ And the finished quilts are beautiful!

I think utilitarian quilts are the best! That’s what I grew up with to keep warm.
I am enjoying this series so much. I love using scraps!
It is always a joy to see what you create with fabric ‘leftovers’.
Yea!
i love love your scrap quilts! I recently made 2 strip quilts with scraps mixing squares and strips and loved the mindless sewing❤ I have lots more strips to sew together for another quilt!😅❤ 17:57

I love your MacGyvering the spools and dowel to get those strips to stay tidy and organized! 😮
Very encouraging....watch out warning to my three drawers of flannel strips and scraps....I'm coming after you as I see many hours of Christmas films, football games and parades that need mindless sewing!😂
I love this series. It makes me happy whenever I see a new one!
No waste, no sadness! Know scraps, know happiness!!!!
Thank you for your scrappy quilts. I love the freedom of using up what I have in the way of scrappy fabrics. Your creativity is incredible!
This is always amazing to watch, I started watching with all those tubs and

I don’t quilt but I’m finding this series addictive. I like seeing all the fabric patterns and what you’re doing with your scrap fabrics. 😄
Love the quilt math. Impressive! It's fun to make it relatable.
I love scrappy quilts….now I want to make one!
Enjoying this series so much. Thank you for all the inspiration. I recognise some of those fabarics too. I think I'll always have scrap buckets to use up. Love the math numbers. I can't imagine just throwing away that much usable fabric.😊
OMG down to one box ! You’re very inspiring
Great use of scraps and a nice stash of scrappy binding all ready to go!
I would call these Quilts to be Treasured. So many memories of those you made quilts for and the joy of giving them.
How great to see fabric from previous projects. Love your use of spools and dowel rod.
your videos are very timely for me...I am going no buy ( or minimal buy, I won't beat myself up! Hey we have a local quilt show and a national quilt show coming early 2025! Scrappy makes my heart happy.... thank you and looking forward to the next one...
I love both quilts. Thank you for sharing! Congratulations on getting down to one bucket!!
I love your 2-1/2 inch series and charm square series!
Great tutorial. I’ve been using a piece of a pool noodle to wrap my fabric scraps around
I made an ugly quilt once. It turned out I fell on love with its beauty.
Woohoo! Thank you for sharing all your ideas of what to do with our scraps.
I don't think those quilts are ugly at all! They look pixilated and beautiful! Enjoy your lovely quilts.
It's such a pleasant surprise to find a new strip video. This one is as exciting as all the rest.
Love the first one with the horizontal bands. They give the eye a nice place to rest and the color seems to help pop the colors in the strips. Love these videos. Wish i was closer so I could visit your shop. I'm in Northeast Missouri.
Beautiful and in no way ugly. Love it
That came out beautiful
Those are the prettiest scrappy quilts I have seen. Thank you, Shelly; what an accomplishment!
Crazy quilts are my favorite also because of the beautiful embroidery most of them contain!!
No quilt is ugly, if it keeps you warm. ❤
I love listening to podcasts and audiobooks when sewing!!
Wonderful! I’m going to make this my “January” project! Congrats on getting down to one bucket!
Impressive. Congratulations on getting it down not one bucket. Maybe when you finally empty that last bucket you could have a show and tell (quilt show) of all the quilts you have made from the 2 1/2" strips. 😊😊😊
I would like to see that too!

I love the first quilt best! The dark green makes the other fabrics shine! Great idea for using up what adds up to a lot of fabric.
I have really enjoyed this series! Thanks for all the ideas and encouragement.

These are great quilts for those tail ends of fabrics and I can definitely see tightening the color pallet to change up the look. Thanks, Shelley.

These series to use your scraps are amazing to watch! I have a strip project I started in 2023 and will be doing for your project challenge in 2025.
I just think it’s wonderful how you manage all these extra quilts as well as the ongoing monthly challenge. Just 🤩
I love sewing by hand i would not call it ugly it's lovely we are very blessed to make such lovely quilts
Bravo. Tour de force!
Love the quilt math! Great work!
My favorite is the first quilt; I like that it has the solid fabric to make some separation in the quilt. Thanks for sharing………………
WOW! Over a football field worth of 2 1/2" scraps?!
Bravo!👍💪🤩😃
I love a mindless sewing project!
Beautiful 🥀♥️🇧🇷 Brazil, Belo Horizonte

Another amazing project! Your creativity is incredible! I just appreciate your channel so much! I am so glad you said that even though your buckets are emptying, there are more videos to come!
I Love it! And, the low volume scraps (the light fabrics) really make the quilt sing. Great job! ❤
