I first watched this 72 hours ago, and already have 134 puffs made in purples, blues and greens... Ooops. Because I didn't have enough half finished quilt projects.
Your quilt and your grandmother's are beautiful! My mom made a puff pillow when she was a teenager so when i saw your Instagram posts I was immediately in love! I hope to make one using the scraps from all the masks I've been making.
Saw you in Misty’s program and loved it. Just found out the we going to be granny’s again to a baby girl (the first girl) and I’m very excited. Will be making one for her (can’t be pink because my daughter doesn’t like the color). Thank you for your tutorial.
Quilting always amazes me. This looks soooo good and I was worried it would be extremely difficult. But you explained it so well, I think this will be my autumn project!
This is so beautiful! I’m sick but if I feel better tomorrow, I’m starting on this! Now just to pick colours. I love the hand quilted element too! And how you honoured your grandma. Thank you for sharing!
This is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I made this out of old shirts I had and stuffed it with old scrap cloth - makes a weighted blanket! Thanks so much for sharing this:)
A full list of materials needed for various quilt sizes is her blog post (linked in the description above). For the Small Throw shown in this video, she estimates 36 ounces of PolyFil. Have fun!
This was such a great tutorial. I consider myself a beginner - but I think I might tackle this on a small scale for a crib size first or a lap blanket for the kids! Such a nice hierloom!
I just finished my first puff quilt. The top was complete before I stuffed the puffs by cutting open the bottom layer, stuffing and using fabric fusion tape and a patch to close them up again. I also used a five inch on a four inch for a loftier puff. It's so warm I have to leave the window open to sleep!
I’m up to sewing the rows together of a 2m by 2m version of this quilt and could never have gotten started without your tutorial. So easy to follow; it’s been an absolute blast so far 😁😁
Wow. I love your puff quilt. It's my favorite color combo as well. My grandma made quilts and my mom makes quilts. They passed their love of crafty and sewing onto me. Isn't it so awesome to carry on that tradition and add your own modern twist. I do the same. One of these days I plan to tackle a quilt like this. I have a bunch of flannels that I think would make a very cozy Puff Quilt.
I’m 🤯! Your quilt is stunning and such a beautiful tribute to your grandmother. My great grandmother made me a quilt that I used until it literally fell apart. I’ve got to make some for my children. Thank you for such an awesome, and thorough tutorial! God Bless and Happy New Year!
I bet this would be even warmer and cozier stuffed with wool fleece 2nd cuts not good for spinning… Though you would have to be very careful about washing it so as to not felt it inside the quilt. If you’re pretty far north and looking for that extra warmth probably best to just buy super wash roving. (meant for spinning sock yarn, it does not felt when washed like normal wool.)
Very clear and concise tutorial! I can't wait to make mine. It's gonna be months because we're building, packing and moving. It was a good time to have my Janome serviced so I wouldn't be distracted from the task at hand otherwise I would have been right in front of my machine! :-)
Very smart the old fashion way of quilting with ties is great if it was good for your grandma it’s great for you. You’ll think of grandma every time you use your quilt.
What a nice puff puffs 🧡🧡 love the fact that it kept it good condition after all those years. And your garanmas lable ✨✨🙏 i wonder what pen is that, i would like to easly tag my crochet blankets.
Wow this is amazing! Just the most beautiful quilt I’ve ever seen- you did a wonderful job on placing the colors to make such a beautiful ombré effect!! Applause! I’ve literally just discovered this puff quilt idea that apparently has been around a long time lol I’ve never seen one before today and out of the ones I saw this is the prettiest one! Thanks for making this video ❤️
Thanks for sharing this idea! I will be scouring a thrift shop for black and white fabrics and make one. Again, this is such an easy pattern with lot of details,I love it♥
I love your fabric choices! That is my biggest problem, I rely on other quilts that I see to make my color choices because I don't feel adequate in choosing my own colors
Like Whitney, I've been saving my scraps from mask making and this is the ideal project to use them up. I read your blog post first then came to watch your video. Thanks for a great tutorial :)
Love this! So beautiful! I snipped a small hole in my backing when trimming the batting. What is the easiest, most effective way to fix this? Thank you!
Quê trabalho maravilhoso!!! Apesar da mão de obra, não vi dificuldades, amei, e a forma de demonstrar foi satisfatória. Pôr quanto poderia vender uma dessas? Obrigado e boa sorte.
What kind of batting would you recommend if I want to use the quilt as a sort of blanket? I have very thick quilt batting but I'm thinking it may be too thick. Thanks for this great tutorial, I'm about half way through my puff quilt!
You've made a beautiful quilt! can we talk about warmth? I presume a poly fill would be warmer than a quilt made traditionally with (cotton) warm and natural batting because poly does not breathe. Would you make a puff quilt for warmth or the cuddly beauty of it?
Hi, love your tutorial!, I was wondering when you link the squares together into a proper row (after having sewn three sides on each individual square) ~4:51~ do you lock the stitch or do you leave it open? I'm making this quilt and I'm kind of a noob.
This is honestly one of the best and clearest quilting tutorials I’ve seen. You made it seem so attainable. Thank you!!
I first watched this 72 hours ago, and already have 134 puffs made in purples, blues and greens... Ooops. Because I didn't have enough half finished quilt projects.
That's amazing! Once you get in the swing of things, it goes by quick!
How many puffs do I need completely?
I appreciate the way you mitered the corner of your quilt, and that you made it the same way as your grandmother made it.
I have been dying to find something to sew and i just found it!!! I am SO excited to start this!!!
Thank you for sharing your process with us! I loved hearing about your grandmother’s quilt 😍😍😍
