I have seen a hundred binding videos and this is hands down the very, very best!! I will never dread binding ever again! Can't thank you enough
I agree, 3 quilts to bind before xmas and the clock is ticking down-I am less anxious now so thank you for that
Wow, thank you! That’s awesome! Thanks for watching 🤗
Irene, you said exactly what I was thinking.
I have come across all these little tips elsewhere before but now you have combined them all into this brilliant tutorial which I can refer to anytime I need a refresher. Many thanks for this.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for leaving such a sweet comment 🤗
I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
I find that the binding is the easiest 😂.
Especially when knowing that's literally the last lap of the quilt making journey!!!.
❤
Awesome! Glad you like it 😊
I find also the binding is relaxing knowing I'm almost done and ready to be washed for bleeding
You instructions SAVED me and my quilts. I am a newbie and every time I would try the "pocket method" - I couldn't stuff it in, it would be a HUGE bulk in my binding - so much so, that i was embarrassed to even GIFT 1 of my quilts - then I saw your video where you CUT the edges with a 45D angle - both pieces - YAY! I finally made the almost perfect quilt with almost perfect binding - and all thanks to YOU.
That’s so awesome! I’m so happy to hear it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
Me too! What a relief to build our confidence. So doable!
I LOVE the Left Compensating Foot! It's a binding game changer!
(Brother and Babylock owners - your foot is called a Left Bi-Level Foot. Sure wish Janome would make a Left Compensating / Bi-Level Foot. You can use their Stitch in the Ditch Foot and shift your needle to the left - and it works pretty well, but not as well as a Left Compensating / Bi-Level Foot.)
Thank you for your tutorial! Very informative!
Awesome - thanks so much! I appreciate you naming the foot for other machines 😊
Also it's great to finally find out what "that" foot in the old collection is for and what it does. What is it called for singer machines?
@KKIcons - I don't know if Singer, Viking of Pfaff makes one. (I work for a local Janome, Elna, Brother, Babylock, Juki, HandiQuilter dealership.)
I have to look at a video every time I finish a quilt project. This one, by far, is the easiest one to do. Thank you for the “plain talk” of walking us through this process! I’m not going back the the other way of measuring the tails and folding using the binding tool. Can’t tell you how many times I have needed to rip it out and start over, lol!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 😊
THIS is how I will bind my quilts from no on! Thank you for detailed descriptions!
Awesome! I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
Excellant option for finishing the joining of the two ends. Thanks much. I make 2 - 4 quilts a month for charity and this will speed things up a tiny bit. It looks nice and neat.
This is the best, most helpful tutorial I’ve seen on binding quilts. I’m getting ready to bind a quilt now and really love that I found this video!
Just catching up on my comments now. Thanks so much for leaving such a sweet comment, I really appreciate it 🤗
Hi there. I'm just a beginner quilter and have been dreading binding my first quilt. But not any more . Your tutorial is wonderful. It's by far the best one I've watched, and I've watched a LOT. So thank you so much. I'm anxious to get started. Thanks again. 😊
Wonderful! Thanks so much for watching!
Fantastic, easy-to-follow video. As a new quilter, the detailed explanation of the steps is very helpful. I would have liked to see the back of the quilt to see how the stitching is supposed to look from that side. I've only ever attached binding by hand, but for the quilt I'm doing now I will try this method. Thank you for sharing.
This is awesome - so much better than what we all used to do! Great tutorial. Clear, concise, and well done photography!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate it 🤗
Thank- you, Thank-you, after years of struggling to put bindings on my quilts, this technique is a game changer. A dream come true. I will never do it any other way going forward. Thank-you again!
That is awesome Anna! Love it! I appreciate you taking the time to come back to my video and let me know how you got on! Please pop by my channel again soon 😊
OMG! This is the *absolute* best tutorial on binding! OMG! 'all the difficulities related to manipulating the corners and the final, 'attaching the ends of the binding together are clarified, streamlined and made EASY!!!!
Why is this the first time I'm seeing this!? Why make something so easy so difficult! Thank you so much! Now, I'll NEVER dread the hump I've always had to get-over to complete a quilt!!!!!

Just getting to my comments now.
Thank you so much for the sweetest comment ever 🥰
appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
Thank you so much for such an amazing way to bind a quilt. The corners always gave me trouble but you showed how to do it in such an easy way. And now, I don’t have to measure and hope for the best when attaching the ends. Now, when I get compliments for my quilts, I won’t have to say to myself, “Don’t look at the corners, don’t look at the corners, don’t look at the corners!”
Love it! I’m glad you found my video helpful! Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
Great video - well done. I do my bindings this way and the only thing I would add is that when sewing the attached binding down from the front, make sure your top thread matches the binding, and the bobbin thread matches the backing fabric because there will be a visible stitch line around your quilt back NEXT to (away from) the binding.
Great point! I am a cheat when it come to thread and almost always use white!
Sorry to irk you 😊
@@dcwatashi Thanks for the feedback. Good luck with working out the best way for you to do your binding 🥰
@@staceyleecreative thank you lol one of these days I will figure it out. I think what will help is if I use my Serger to compress the edges.
@@dcwatashi whenever you do figure it out please post a tutorial so that others with the same issues/frustrations can learn from you 💜 I'm a newbie with so many questions because I find finishing a quilt so intimidating.
Thank you! You demonstrated that so clearly that I was able to see what I have been doing wrong when I have tried to do binding that way. I can't wait to bind now, I have a small stack of projects that have been waiting for me to figure this out. Thank you again.
That's awesome Kay - I love that I helped you figure it out! Thanks so much for watching my video! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, it means a lot to me 😊
I love this method of binding with the ends meeting up. I've done the diagonal join so many times, I'll have to practice this a few times to get it down. Thank you for a great tutorial.
Awesome Priscilla, I am glad you liked this technique! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
"It might be a little bit fiddly, but nowhere near as fiddly as joining it on the diagonal as we used to do!" You said it, Stacy! Love this video! Thank you!
Exactly Barbara! Thanks for watching 🤗
I watched your tutorial and was able to bind my first quilt. It looked very good. Thank you for being such a great instructor!
That's wonderful Darlene - I love that! I really appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment ❤
Excellent tutorial, particularly for how to join the strips to make the binding and for showing a far easier way to deal with joining the beginning to the end.
I am so glad you found it helpful! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment, it means a lot to me. If you wanted to see how the back turned out I have this video: th-cam.com/video/4ge_yBtL_e4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kQumAQNYR0PW3GOs
That looks like it would be sooo much easier for the binding. I always fight with the final joining of the binding and the corners. Thank you soooomuch for the ideas!!!
Awesome Kim! I am glad you found it helpful! 😊
This was an awesome tutorial of the binding MITRE😊 corners!!!
Yay! Thank you Kathryn 🤗 I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
I’m glad found your video! I’ve been trying to do my bindings this way, but they never come out as nice as yours! I was always taught to do bindings on the bias, (they were supposed to be stronger). On much used and washed quilts, the bindings wear out. I’m certainly going to do your way next ! Thanks for this great video!
Thank you so much Stacey! I do hate the binding part but with your tutorial I’m gonna finishing my quilts as a pro 🎉❤💪💕
Hey Tamara! Thanks so much, I am glad you liked it 😊
Oh my goodness, Stacey, I learned so many tips and tricks from you on this video !! My bindings ended up wonky a lot and now I know why and I also know how to fix that. The directions on how to attach the ends of the binding was awesome ! Thank you, thank you, Sweet lady. 🌺
That's awesome Teresa! I am glad you found it helpful! 😊
Yes! How to attach the ends, and cutting the beginning binding piece on the 45⁰ angle is a total game changer!
I love your videos so much! Thank you for explaining everything so well. I definitely feel like I can start quilting by looking at your TH-cam channel. Keep going! You're doing wonderful!
Aww thanks so much for your kind comment Micah! I appreciate you taking the time to write it 🤗
So helpful. Thank you 🙏🏾 ❤

Thanks for the tip about the Robert Kaufman app--didn't realize there was such a thing and now it will save my brain😀
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🤗
you, my dear, are the best! i just used this video to bind my second ever quilt-- watched it through, then again, pausing every step of the way to do exactly what you show. easy peasy, and turns out that when i know what i'm doing, i actually quite enjoy the binding step-- the grand finale! yay for me! 😁
i've been stalled on this one at the squaring up and binding phase for a couple months, have worked up 4 more quilts in various stages, waiting for the stars to align so i was ready to bind #2-- and turns out, you are the star! thanks!
So awesome! Sorry for the late reply. I’m happy you found my video so helpful 🤗
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am currently sitting on the couch with a quilt I finished with your method. I love this method. I was so frustrated with my own ideas that I threw them out of my head and followed your directions without question. My computer was always close. I love the results. You are in my history never to leave. Again, Thank You
You are so welcome Chelsea! Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
Your instructions on binding were wonderful and I followed them to bind a large tshirt quilt that I made for my daughter.Thank you for doing this video!
Wonderful! So glad you found it helpful! ❤️
Stacey thanks for the binding tips! Encouraging as always!❤
Thanks so much Sherry for joining me on the live chat 😊
THANK YOU! This is so much easier!❤
Awesome! I’m glad you liked my video 🤗
I would really like to have seen a close up of your finished seam on the front as well as what it looked like on the back. This is so much faster than hand sewing! Thanks for sharing this.❤
Almost none of these people ever show you the backside or even bother to show you a close-up. I’m trying to find a method where you don’t have that ugly line of stitching on your backside of your quilt.
@@dcwatashi i use the method only stitch with one of my decorative stitches. Or i line the binding up just up to the first stitching line so it does show as much.
@@kathygospodarek8541 I just bought a Juki and I would prefer to use that instead of my singer that has the decorative stitches
One of these days I will find the right mathematical equation similar to using that double folded bias, tape
Sew it on from the front, and then hand stitch it on the back to finish it off!
Great idea Kathy!
Everything is so pretty! My favorite is the gingham checked fabric on the mini pumpkins!
Mine too! Thanks so much for watching my video and leaving a comment 🤗
I used to dread binding before this video, but this so good, the instructions are easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wonderful! I’m glad you liked it ❤️
That was a very good video. I would have liked to have seen where the front stitch ended up sitting on the reverse of it. That seems to be my problem. I can usually see the stitch on the other side and not always in the right spot. Can you show us the back please? TY
Hi Sue, do you follow me on Instagram? I can share a pic there. You could use thread to blend in with the backing to help it not be as noticeable 😊
Sue, I finish all my quilts this way. When you pull that binding over you have a very narrow binding showing on the reverse side as opposed to if you were doing the traditional method of hand stitching. I use invisible thread in my bobbin (I buy them pre-wound because it is hard to wind them without them getting too tight). With this method your top stitch will not fall onto the binding on the back side because it is so narrow. Stacey used a straight stitch on hers which is very nice. I use a decorative stitch on all mine, usually the serpentine (curvy) stitch. I own a 9mm machine and I love the way the curvy stitch looks on my binding. I have been teaching this method for a few years now and am so glad Stacey did a video. I hope many more people choose this method. Some of us are aging and our hands just won’t do the binding any longer or some are limited with time.
Thank you, You’re such a great teacher! 😀💝
Wow this is a game changer for me I hate hand stitching the binding
Using a Creative Grids Clipped Folded Corner Ruler eliminates the need to join binding strips by placing one strip vertically over the other horizontal strip, drawing the diagonal line to stitch on, sewing and cutting a 1/4 inch seam and then cutting off dog ears.
Strips (as many as you want at a time) are placed right side up on top of each other. The folded corner ruler is used to cut the ends of the strips diagonally, eliminating dog ears at the same time.
It is very simple to join strips as the cut edges fit together with the 1/4 inch seam matching perfectly.
Saves so much time and leaves virtually little chance of error. Wouldn’t want to go back to the traditional method.
Hi Jean, I hadn't heard about this ruler, thanks for telling me about it. I will go and check it out now 😊
I use it all the time.
@@staceyleecreative shabby fabrics has the best tutorial on that ruler
Thanks, this is great as I don’t want to buy yet another specialized ruler just for binding. Clear directions using what I already have. Keep up the good work
Great video! Never thought of looking for an app to calculate how much binding, backing etc is needed. Downloaded it now and it will be a great help in future. Up to now have always done the calculations the old fashioned way :-) Going to try this binding method with using my stitch-in-a-ditch foot.
Great video. Looking forward to trying the new way of joining at the beginning and end of the binding. Thank you Stacey Lee
Awesome - thanks so much for watching 🤗
Excellent instructions! I used your directions and made a self binding baby blanket and I am now obsessed.
Great job Jan! Thanks so much for watching my videos ❤️
You're good at giving clear and calm directions. And this quilt is adorable, by the way.
Aww thanks so much Kristina 🤗I really appreciate your kind feedback ❤️
Stacey, if you don't mind my saying so, you have the most elegantly shaped hands that I've seen in many years. Long slim fingers, no big knotty knuckles, no bulging veins, well proportioned, with no bony appearance. Lovely nails. Beautiful, Ma'am. I'm an artist, and I've always noticed things like that.
That’s so sweet of you to say - thanks so much ❤️
Perfect instructions 😊
She does!
Love your videos
OH!! Love how you finished off that binding that is so NOT complicated. Can’t wait to try it thank you so much 😊
