This is genius!!! I tried to make a puff quilt the traditional way, it never got finished. I have always wanted to make a puff quilt, but after trying it, I gave up on the idea of ever making one. Now that I've seen your video, I know I can finally make a puff quilt. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
I have just followed your tutoitail for this puff quilt and made my first puff quilt. The tutorial made it very easy to do. I made mine 10 rows by 12 rows. So I would just Iike to say a huge thank you to you for sharing this fabulous tutorial. Xx❤
Thank you for tutorial, I’m a quilter and have had two daughters request the “puffy” quilt which I did not know how to do. Thank you for east instructions ❤
My granny had one in a purple satin, all the same fabric so Id make one like hers. One of m y few memories from when I was teeny was walking over that amazing landscape, it seemed like a massive. alien planet. When I stood beside the bed it was as tall as I was but somehow I managed to get up there. Wont it be so much easier to make it all one colour! All id need to do is draw a grid instead of cutting and piecing.
You, friend, are a genius. I have been wanting to make a puff quilt for a while now, but the general method looked tedious. I made a baby one in an afternoon using your method. I then went a tad bigger, 13 x 10, and it took less than three days. I am now on a mission, an 18 x 15. Wish me luck and thank you so very much for sharing!
I can't wait to make this for my grandson for Christmas. I'll be adding pellets to the stuffing to make it a weighted puffy blanket with the minky on the back. ❤❤❤
Just rewatched this to refresh my memory banks. Love your method, Tracy. It’s genius! BTW, using 5” charm squares at 3 x 4, fits purrfectly in a standard Kitty Carrier. Now using 6” squares (at 8x8 - playpen size) for an I Spy Puffy Quilt for great-grand son! Thanks again for sharing your brilliant technique. ❤
I made two mini puffy quilts following your excellent tips. My kitty loves them. I washed them, dried them with dryer balls, and they came out great. I’ve watched many puffy quilt tutorials. Yours is the best. Thank you so much.
@@minaamin5970 I washed it with my regular laundry. I didn’t do anything special except using the dryer balls. So far both my kitty blankets have been washed numerous times. They are holding up great.
I made one 50 years ago! At that time panty hose were used, it was so heavy it wasn’t used. Very hard to sew as it grew. With this new way, I may try one again😘
Finished a little trial Puff Quilt. It fits our kitty’s carrier. Thanks for a fun n quick technique. I shared this with my two sewing groups. Now they’re making Puffies too! Thanks, Tracy
I've never made a quilt before, but I've been wanting to make a puff quilt for a while and this definitely looks like a method ill be able to use as a novice seamstress!
OMG! After several others vid's & groaning to myself...I come across yours...THANK YOU.. THANK YOU for thinking outside the box! I'll be starting my pouf quilt very soon, without the moan & groan.
Wow, what a miracle!!! I just started a bubblequilt to make a cover for a pillow for my grandson's birthday. And I was not very pleased, because I have to make 81 bubbles! I finished 2 x 9 in rows together - to see what it looks like. 😊😉 I was thinking about getting it done easierly and quicker, as I have to make 3 pillows for my 3 grandsons - they all will have birthday in 1 month!!! So when I looked in the internet I found your video!!! Thank's for sharing it!!! It will take me less time this way than the other way!!! I'm thrilled!!! Many, many thank's!!! Ela from Moers, Germany 🤗💛
@@TheSewingChannel Now I found a way to be very quick with thw second cover: I bought covers for pillows. So I have a base to put the patch on it. The only difference is that I now make one seam down every row - otherwize I couldn't sew the long seam to close the rows after filling one row of bubbles. When it's finished, the cover will be able to be washed without the pillow. 😀 I nearly finished the second bubble-cover yesterday! My friend saw the bubble, pillows ,esterday and said, she would love to have one of those!!! 😆 Have a peaceful sunday, Ela 🤗🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I like the fact that you didn't use a backing on the square and then put another backing with a quilting back. it's all really just 2 fabrics, the front and the back and no quilting really. I love watching and learning. Now I'm going to tackle my creation. Wish me luck.

Wow! I wish you had done this last week. I am half way finished with my grandson's puff quilt. At least I know how to make them easier when his brothers start asking for one. Thanks Linda!
Hi Tracey, I'm going to try your method. I've made a couple puff quilts, 4 probably. I just wanted to mention, I also did a test first. But I made it into a pillow for my grandson. So being his Mom mom I made about 5 of them😊 just thought I'd mention in case any of your little people would enjoy. I themed it to Mickey and other interests. Have a Great day

Glad I saw this. I had been contemplating how to do a puffy quilt. Mine involved a similar front to yours but stuffing from the back then sewing up the holes. Glad I didn't get around to making it. Will be making it your way. Genius

It’s kind of similar to how my grandmother explained her mom and grandmother made quilts in Newfoundland in the early 1900s. They did rows instead of squares and filled them with roving wool instead of poly fill but I imagine it was pretty much like this 😊 very cool!
I have a suggestion if you want to use a stretchy minky. Iron on a light weight fabric stabilizer like Pelion sf 101. Be sure not to use a very hot iron because the minky may melt. I have some really cute minky in my stash so I will use this method. Thanks for reinventing the bubble quilt!
Very interesting! This will be my first puff quilt and the first thing I noticed when watching videos was that all of the videos showed each puff with two pieces of fabric PLUS an additional backing fabric. Looked hard and wasteful! So I was glad to see this. Would you want to add binding, I wonder?
Thanks for sharing your time and effort! I have been wanting to do this quilt for a long time. My cat, that I had years ago, loved the store bought one I brought home. He love walking on top of it.
You explain every step so clearly. It was really nice to find a tutorial that was enjoyable and easy to understand. I love how smooth your sewing is. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great tutorial
Hi from South Africa 🇿🇦 Tracey, thanks for a wonderful tutorial. I too had the same thought on the other ways to do a puff quilt... way too much work. You're a star for not just coming up with this marvelous way but Also for showing us how to. It looks amazing and much easier. God bless you.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial! Years ago, I made a puffy quilt for my daughter, mixing in fabric from sundresses she and I wore. She adored it, even bringing it with her when she went away to college. Now, it's falling apart and she asked if I could repair it. I cringed, remembering how "brutal" it was to put together the first time. Your method offers a much easier alternative, so now I'm encouraged to get it done. I know she'll be thrilled!

WOW!!! Love the way you made this so easy!! I was so not impressed with the old method.... I have to finally make one!!
What a great method to do it! I have to try it, soon!! Thanks!
I can’t wait to try this. SO much easier this way. Thanks for posting.
Too smart! You amaze me!
*_LOL Paula! You are so kind💛 Thank you for watching🤓_*
wow, really liked this. hope to try to make one soon. thanks for sharing
Wow you could do seat pads the same way for chairs. Thank you for sharing! It’s brilliant 🥰
It’s kind of similar to how my grandmother explained her mom and grandmother made quilts in Newfoundland in the early 1900s. They did rows instead of squares and filled them with roving wool instead of poly fill but I imagine it was pretty much like this 😊 very cool!
Yes that sounds very similar ✅ wool would be way warmer than polyfil😆
Thank you I will!
I started a puff quilt by adding the squares years ago and never finished it. I like your version much better.
I hope it works for you. ✅
I love your method!
*_Great idea Diana...thank you for sharing that tip!! Very helpful!✅_*
Never wanted to try a puff quilt because it looked too cumbersome. Now I think it will actually be fun! Thanks - great video!
*_You're welcome Geralyn💛I hope you try it.....super fun and easy✅_*
Very interesting! This will be my first puff quilt and the first thing I noticed when watching videos was that all of the videos showed each puff with two pieces of fabric PLUS an additional backing fabric. Looked hard and wasteful! So I was glad to see this. Would you want to add binding, I wonder?
Ty, your explanetions are very clear, only for to be sure: each big square has 5" , but what is the mesure of each little square? Ty, for your answer.
Thank you lve made 5 since seeing this and love them
*_oh thank you Marilyn for coming back and letting everyone know that it worked great for you💛_*
ой, такого способа пошива бобонов я ещё не видела, интересно) Я шью каждый блок отдельно. Приятного рукоделия!
*_Это наверняка лучший способ сделать это одеяло !!!! ❤️_*
Thanks for sharing your time and effort! I have been wanting to do this quilt for a long time. My cat, that I had years ago, loved the store bought one I brought home. He love walking on top of it.
Awe....it's an easy make Karen! Have fun with it💛
You explain every step so clearly. It was really nice to find a tutorial that was enjoyable and easy to understand. I love how smooth your sewing is. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great tutorial
Thank you for all of the kind feedback Jan. I appreciate it 💛
Hi from South Africa 🇿🇦 Tracey, thanks for a wonderful tutorial. I too had the same thought on the other ways to do a puff quilt... way too much work. You're a star for not just coming up with this marvelous way but Also for showing us how to. It looks amazing and much easier. God bless you.
Thank you for such kind words Lee...thank you for supporting my channel🌸
I didn't think you could come up with an easy way to make one but you did!! Thanks for sharing!!
*_LOL Linda😂 It took me a few months of thinking and putting the project away......thank you so much for the kind feedback💜_*
Nice! I’m going to try this. Maybe even putting a ruffle around it . I will see how ambitious I feel.
Your technique is ingenious!!!!!!
Thank you Gloria...this is really much easier than the traditional way✅
Thank you for this excellent tutorial!
