Yes it was frozen before we started and it was 1 gallon bag of ocean! We dident put it all in the gumbo but we put most of it! Thanks for watching Combat how did you like the video?
@@captaincobyscajuncooking6144 The video was great Coby! I was one week behind you in Colorado Springs. I went to visit some friends up there. Visited the Firefighters Memorial. Next time I'm in Lafayette, I'll pass by Moss st. and see if you're there and introduce myself. Your seasoning is the very best my friend. I've tried em all too. I chunked the others in the trash (no lie). Keep up the great work buddy!!!
Grandmas Roux 101-mix oil and flour in cast iron skillet, bake @350* stirring every 10 minutes until desired color. That gumbo looks great! Ca C’est Bon!
Hello me Paul from germany and must know some about a gumbo. If I understand correctly you precook the okra to get rid of the slimy. normally it thickens dishes. how do you do it when the gumbo is too thin?? Best regards Paul
Guten Morgen Paul! The okra will still thicken up the gumbo! We normally control the thickness of the gumbo with the roux! More roux the thicker the gumbo! But here In Louisiana some make thin gumbos some make thick! But the taste is the most important! Danke my friend thanks for watching keep cooking and I’ll see you in the kitchen
@@captaincobyscajuncooking6144 Ok and ur videos better as looking tv. Manny greetings to ur super mom. Hello greetings to u. watched a lot of videos this week on how to cook okra without slime. either in the backoven or on the stove. now my question how long did it take to stir in the video where your mother was standing at the pot. Best regards Paul
About an hour! You don’t have to stir as much in the beginning but when it starts breaking down you gonna have to stay on top of it and stir constantly
@@captaincobyscajuncooking6144 Ok i understand. I need a little bit time to understand all videos that i look. I bought yesterday in a second hand shop 2 super pots ,realy like new and topp for cooking.
Bien merci! I hate celery and I love garlic but not with the okra! I feel like it takes from the okra! Just my opinion! Thanks for watching and commenting!! Keep cooking and I’ll see you in the kitchen

Fe`vi is okra. The filet is made from the Sassafras tree leaves. Root beer is made from the Sassafras tree roots. 💗💗
I knew she had that wrong! I told her that too!
It was another great show, enjoyed it.

This is an okra gumbo!!! Great video
Thank you @znarcisse it was awesome too! Thanks for watching! Happy New Year’s
looks great Captain Colby. My grandmas secret add 2-3 caps of vinegar in the okra while smothering it down and it will cut the cook time in half.
Great tip at @ryanrodrigue321 I’ll definitely try that!

how many cups water in the roux you use?
I never really measure @lorenzomorgan4462 I add water let it cook down and add water according to the thickness I want! I hope that helps!
Tonnerre mais ca c’est bon weh!
@tobindinger9115 I agree ..ca c’est bien bon mon aims! Thanks for watching and commenting! Keep cooking and see you in the kitchen!
Oui
Vinegar stops the slime of okra. Two tablespoons of vinegar per gallon of gumbo, or smothered.
I hate vinegar even more than celery! lol but I’ll try it!
What is the difference between too too tick and tick tick? 😁😁😆😆
lol not much!! But too too tick you gotta add some water!! Tick tick is just right!! Lmao
Why I didn’t get a plate coach?
Why I didn’t get a pizza??
Where's the garlic and celery? No offense, just curious. Je t'aime ton video bruh

You both are beautiful.
Thank you @tyrarubin1512 you are beautiful as well even though I never met you or seen you! You have a bra heart ❤️ thanks for watching
Sorry beautiful heart!!
Please use wooded utensils to scrape a cast iron pot. Metal on cast iron takes your seasonings off the pot.
David been scratching that pot for years the seasoning in that pot runs deep!! Lol thanks for watching brother!!
Metal utensils will NOT hurt that pot cuz
