Made this recipe for about 20 guests at a party and it was a smash hit! I lived in New Orleans as a child and have 2 homes there, this by far is an amazing true NOLA style home gumbo! Great job bro!
Damn! I follow your recipes and try one once a week on saturdays for my wife. I wanted gumbo this week because of the weather in Maryland right now and I couldn’t find anything about a gumbo from you so I found a recipe online. You made gumbo!! I have to try this. Keep it up bro I love your food!
The whole presentation was real. And that pot being filled with real goodness only makes me want to go get some or make some. I watch you and in two hours I got some. Love how you made that rue.
You my friend are the most human and real cook I’ve watched ever. Your videos are the very essence of preparing food for the Everyman that we all are. Keep it up. You bring joy to the world.

Now that’s what I call “right on time.” MS boy here, but living in WI. Put that in a sealed container and ship up here to WI. Hit the spot with this below zero weather up here.
Started to watch some of your older videos and this is now one of my favorites. You gave good advice on how to cook the gumbo and you also made me crack up. 10/10
Bro me and my sons watching everything you do you’re a great cook and you food is awesome do what you do we appreciate you so much god’s blessings to you and your family
Boyyyyy. Nothing better than this. I like ur way. I do mine a little different. I don’t usually add sausage to my seafood gumbo. I usually add oysters too. I am lazy. So I usually do everything in one pot. Less to wash. I do add okra to mine. I usually have some on freezer bags that I roast. No slim. Just a little to that big pot. I had to chuckle cx my pots look just like this, to the tippy top. Some good stuff right there. Thank u for the tips. My favorite is how ur house smells when cooking this. Really I love the smell when cooking a roux. Reminds me so much of my grandmommas house. Miss her ev day. Had her for 9 short years. I 64 now. Still think of her ev day. She has been gone 55 yrs.
Man thank you for making these videos. They help so many of us to make authentic Cajun recipes. Don't worry about your raggedy pot, we all know that a raggedy pot is a blessed pot cause it's been used so many times to make food with love for people. If you didn't have at least one raggedy pot, then I would worry. 👍
Your videos are ALWAYS GREAT FOOD, GREAT HOSPITALITY, GREAT TEACHING AND THE BEST OF ALL, THE BEST HEART, thank you sir for sharing all you do, we really enjoy ALL YOUR VIDEOS
On the West Coast, this is the gumbo I always hope I'm going to get when I order or make it, but it never turns out as good. This looks absolutely killer.
you should never eat gumbo on the west coast most people from louisiana dont even eat gumbo in restaurants if its not from your mom or grandmom i wouldnt trust it
I’m trying half the recipe. Just the two adults and two little kids. I have it on the stove right now for the 45 minute cook down. I made it a bunch of times with my dad’s recipe but he put tomatoes in his. It was very good but I don’t like tomato in mine. Thanks brother. Been watching all you videos. I have a flat top grill now so your recipes will come in handy.
That’s more than 4 ingredients. Hmmm let see if a comment comes back on here. That ain’t no crock pot either that’s a magnalite! Only real cooks know what to do with that! Looking good ralph. I’m thinking I’m a make one tomorrow 🙌🏻
Definitely representing us down here in New Orleans!!! I’m a westbank food fanatic and these videos are a true representation of what we do in Nola!!! You can tell my man makes a lot of roux from the look of that wooden spoon. Keep up the vids!! Much love Brotha!!!
Oh My Amazing !!! I always made a Roux w butter/margarine. Going to try your Roux That pan is seasoned, best to cook with ! Ty so Much Ralph. A Very Happy Valentine's Day to such a great couple ♥️ 💘
When I was younger I would think of visiting Louisiana, not to do the tourist thing, but to connect with the natives and appreciate the culture, food, music and off beaten path, taking in nature. I learned to play the harmonica, know how to cook and figured I'd fit right in, loving people of all color, race and ethnicity. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it, but I appreciate you sharing your recipes. As far as the food, the only thing missing is the smell and tastes. Thank you, brother, and God bless you and yours.
It looks so good and I know that it is delicious. I am going to make me a pot of seafood gumbo.keep up the good cooking and all of your good recipes.you have a blessed day.god bless you and your family.happy new year.
Greetings from New Zealand 👋🏼 Thank you for sharing. I've never tried authentic gumbo or southern food, it all looks so delicious, every recipe I've seen 🌟👌🏽 Gumbo, po boys, jambalaya, catfish & alligator is definitely on my bucketlist to try.
What’s great about this process/recipe is that all the steps are exactly the same up till he puts the seafood. Other southern gumbos are exactly the same .. just substitute the seafood for chicken and andouille sausage which is another famous New Orleans dish. Great episode! Following from Westbank Algiers.
Dude I just found you and have already tried some of your recipes on the flat top which I just got as well. I’m def gonna try this and the deep fried soft shell blue crabs. You da man!
I always stopped short of making a decent roux because I thought it was burning. Thanks for the clarification! Can’t wait to make a pot this afternoon!
I love how the pot is filled to the brim everytime! Shows you’ve done these recipes hundreds of times before!!

The roux is the hardest part...in culinary class some people had trouble staying there that long stirring.
Out of everybody online I’ve seen , TikTok, TH-cam, this gentleman to me , makes the most appetizing food.

Sarah order that for me off of Amazon.
If your looking for this type of pot you should look at the magnalite roaster pot, many of us down here in Louisiana use them for our cajun cooking.
@@Bret02 Thank you
@@Sweetie_744 your very welcome! Magnalite make lots of different cookware that will last you years. My grandma passed it to my mom and then to me!
Any plans on making a Redfish couvillion? I haven't had that in years..
RTB, this dish alone has me crab-walking to the post office checking for that Cajun cookbook. Man alive!
Bravo! Another seafood gumbo without chicken. I like the addition of the lump crab meat ..
