Yessir. That's a real ass seafood gumbo. I've always deslimed my okra by sort of smothering it. I never thought to try boiling like that, definitely going to give that a go next time. I've also never seen scallops in it, but I like the idea. I do normally put some chunk salmon meat. It breaks apart and just becomes seafood thickness. For people who haven't had a seafood gumbo like this.. it's a different experience than a standard chicken and sausage gumbo. The chicken gumbo will be a juice with pieces of chicken and sausage in it. For the seafood gumbo... All that okra breaks down. That lumo crab breaks down. Smaller crawfish and oyster pieces break down. Rather than a juice with stuff floating, it's a very thick slop (for lack of a better word) of seafood goodness. Every bite is just super thick and hearty.

Not saying it wouldn't be delicious.. i love gumbo and i love salmon but i grew up in LA and had never seen that recipe, maybe because salmon isn't caught locally in LA, but it sounds good sure yes. all seafood is great and gumbo sounds good with any seafood, chicken, andouille, etc
@@bfboobie i also grew up in La. You can use any boneless fish meat, it's just that the taste of the meat won't come through because of all of the other flavor. You could use sacalait or bass, but it's kind of a waste since those are good for frying. Salmon meat is available cheap at walmart. It's probably more that I grew up working in my dad's catering business so when you cook a seafood gumbo for 200+ people, it needs to scale better than whatever fish you have in the freezer

I was on a job in Indiana several years ago. There was a guy on the job, that was staying in the same hotel as me. He was from Louisiana, he made a gumbo one weekend. First time I had ever ate gumbo. It didn't look the best to me, but it was absolutely delicious. I think we ate gumbo most of that week. Can't remember the gentleman's name but I'm pretty sure he was from Kentwood Louisiana.

Got me some Two Step Fire and that stuff is so much better than the other Cajun seasonings at the store. Even Tony's which is saying something because I loved Tony. I put Two Step fire in everything I eat, it is amazing. I even dry brined a stake with it. It was great. I made an Oyster, mushroom, and Shrimp soup the other day with it, and it was amazing.

They is as tastier then your first pice of...well you know dooood, try dem out soak em in milk over knight as cutlets then rince clean n strain em, then beer batter them puppies up doood, then get 2 deep fryin em up until golden brown dooood. And throw some of that good spice you like on em and enjoy!

I'm a plumber working on a 62 story apartment building in Melbourne Australia, we are up to level 55. There's 2 Ally Macs ( external elevators) that take people and materials up and down. Sometimes we can wait for 20 minutes for a lift. I said " Why we wait, we Hydrate" cracked a beer, now I don't have job on that building site . Well worth it though..

I tell ya what. I went through Louisiana a week ago from Georgia to Orange Texas. Wasn't but about 5 miles into Texas and it was chilly. Georgia has had some nice weather but we're about to get a little chilly here in the north GA mountains. Anyway, that gumbo looks like money. Everything in it I love!
My daddy always knew on the first snowfall of the season, momma was making him gumbo like his momma used to make. It was a chicken gumbo. And boy was it good. I sure do miss them both. I got mommas wagonerware big pots and her giant fry pan.
In PA we eat okra fried. So u slice and rinse them. Givem a egg bath and dippem in seasoned flour. Or I might use rolled panko. The secret is right when they come out the shallow fry hittem with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Do it after so the cheese doesn't burn and it gives them some saltyness. Bonappetito

Looks like a seafood boil stew I had in Japan once. If you add enough crab, oyster, and scallops to anything, it'll turn out good.
