How to get through their conveyor belt of misleading follow up "warranty" service appointments designed to spend no resources on fixing the problem and make you leave.

@@chickentoes3635 hi, thanks for messaging me, my understanding is the way they install the rain sensor on the windshield has to do with how it performs and whether it gets an erratic pattern! Also, after they authorized windshield replacement all of the issues disappeared so I assume Safelite has a big contract with Fuyao which produces variable quality glass depending on a car.

So: 1) your rain sensor was moving faster when rain started to hit faster (because you were moving)
    2) dealer uses Safelite or other glass companies to install the glass
    3) Safelite will buy glass from the same place the auto manufacturer does usually. It doesn’t have the logo of the manufacturer is the difference. In fact sometimes you can see where the glass maker grinded out the “Volvo” or car logo because they stamped to many as OEM.
    4) we don’t have any wax that we put on. We may clean it as most. If they did put anything on it it was buffing compound, to try to make the wipers work smoothly.
    5) what do you mean the wipers shouldn’t drag the water??? 😂😂😂😂 that’s how wipers work. It moves the water.
    6) you’re also supposed to change your wipers every 6 months to a year, so you could have needed to change them. Glass doesnt squeak, whatever is rubbing on it does.
    7) Fuyao and Pilkington are both OEM quality glass. Fuyao currently has the OEM contract for the Silverado. Pilkington has OEM contracts for other vehicles. There are significantly different prices between OEM and “aftermarket” glass, where the only difference is the stamped logo.
    8) you’re absolutely ridiculous 😂

I'm thinking the squeak is mechanical and he bent something removing the old wiper before he broke the windshield.
With the rain sensor, it's my bet that he never really paid attention to how it functioned until after his windshield was changed and then he obsessed on it.
Safelite has a lot of great technicians and thank God they stopped manufacturing the crappy windshields they use to make, lol.
The main issue with Safelite is their unfair market practices from being in bed with insurance companies. This unfair market practice of steering customers to Safelite desperately needs to be regulated by government.
The other issue with Safelite is that they are owned by Belron Industries out of South Africa so if you are in the US, you are sending money out of the country by doing business with Safelite. It is better to support small local glass shops and keep American dollars in America.

Fuyao is actually rated among the best replacement glass options by the manufacturers themselves and the everything safelite did is textbook by the manufacturers for diagnostics, pilkington is just another glass supplier and maker who also makes what is considered OEE glass, not aftermarket not OEM. The film safelite applied is made by pilkington and other glass supply companies and is designed for use on the glass, what you were told by the dealership is not necessarily the case, the mechanic at the dealership might be trained in that particular make of vehicle but is not an expert in auto glass. If the dealer had simply hooked up the cars on board dish system they could have just recalibrated the rain sensor so it would work appropriately with the Fuyao piece of glass. As for the squeaking it sounded the same on both windows, but try a new pair of wipers the old ones mold to the shape of the old glass so changing them is just like a new pair of shoes, but nice they break in they are fittted to that piece

They asked me to sign a release acknowledging they could crack the windshield completely when trying to repair....and that is exactly what happened. The clerk said "oh, you now need a new windshield which will run you about $700. Do you want to submit to your insurance"? I left and went to Delaware Auto Glass. New windshield $300.00. I work for a Safelite shop and I hate this company, looking for a new job ASAP. Pretty much everything you say about them being scam artists is true, and they love to overwork and underpay their employees, as well as intentionally disorient and confuse new customers so that they just pay us and move on. NEVER put your credit card on file for the job unless it’s completed and satisfactory. 15% of the time the chip will crack out during repair, and Safelite executives are so pushy about invoicing, you’ll likely get charged by accident, with 30 days to refund you. It’s awful.
But also from a customer service stand point, you are the worst kind of customer we get. Fortunately our management hates working with people like you so much, they’ll do a warranty for OEM right away. I really should've called OSHA on their asses over that. Fuck Alex Abrejo (the 'manager' in the ABQ market). Dude is a straight psychopath and gives zero fucks. I watched so many people get injured there over the unrealistic expectations. Myrna (HR) was also a POS who acted like she cared but would throw you under the bus to your managers. Not to mention the company was scamming insurance companies with the whole ADAS shit. Which they found out about. Most people would take a picture in front of the stand and not do the calibration. Even after they 'resolved' that they still sent me out to the airport rental agency to do the 'calibration' on ground which was unlevel.

Lmao... let me give you my background I am a diesel mechanic and previous dealership auto tech. I assume you think the dealership part was better... lmao. The department of transportation regulates how windshields be manufactured in the United States in order for them to be street legal. That includes manufacturing process, materials used, specifications and testing process. The reason they install aftermarket parts is because that's all insurance companies will cover(OEM parts DO COST WAY MORE!) and the only difference in the two parts is copywritten logos. There is no one at a dealership that is glass certified when a dealership "installs" a windshield they call a glass shop(usually safelite) to perform the installation. Safelite is not a franchise they are a chain hence "national" warranty. The reason why the dealership will say the windshield is "bad" is because newsflash THEY ARE SALES PEOPLE THEY WILL SAY ANYTHING TO SELL YOU THEIR PRODUCT!!! Dealership sales people's are the lowest of the low they have no soul. The reason why you hear a difference in the sound of the windshield vs the door glass is because the windshield is a laminated glass and the door glass is a tempered glass(break it and see the difference I dare you). And the reason why your wiper and rain sensor never functioned properly IS BECAUSE YOU DAMAGED THE WIPER ARM WHEN YOU DROPPED IT ON YOUR WINDSHIELD LIKE A WEAK GIRLY MAN AND THE DAMN THING WASNT HOLDING THE BLADES ON THE WINDSHIELD AT THE RIGHT ANGLE AFTERWARDS!!! You know what else might have fixed the problem? Buying premium wiper blades that don't squeak... you sound like a huge entitled whiny Karen... I would tell you where the bolts are to make adjustments on your wiper arms but seeing as how you can't even install a windshield wiper blade properly I doubt you can do that without breaking something... if you ever get a flat tire and AAA isn't available I imagine you would just sit on the side of the road until you die of exposure... you sir fail at life and manhood.

I just started working at a satellite. From what I have seen satellite has it's a procedure for installing glass. It should be strictly followed because it is has been developed from many tests and studies and follows the manufacturers of glass, products, and equipment instructions on regulations and safety standards. But sadly many techs do not follow these rules to speed up the process. There should be more accountability within the company for sure.
I am being trained for 8 weeks in a shop with a master tech that follows the rules. And have to read through a whole manual and go through many other training programs. Then have to pass multiple tests, and you have to re-test every few years. And once I am trained will go off on my own only doing a couple of jobs a day. Encouraged to take it slow and do it right (new techs are given more time to complete each job.) And I will only be doing jobs my trainer(s) believes I am capable of completing. The company has good standards and procedures. But people sadly will always choose to act against rules and risk doing a bad job and in this industry possibly someone's life.
I would say all in all Safelite is a good company and I am happy to be working for them and will personally always do the best job I can to ensure a proper and safe install. And if I make a mistake I will fess up and fix it and or make sure it gets taken care of by the proper person depending on what it is.

They claim it must be my sunroof (which they claimed before), though 3 separate collision and mechanic shops have inspected the sunroof and say it must have been the windshield (which we already knew). How do I proceed? This repair will cost me around $8000, but I will not pay it because it is their fault. I would love your opinion James and Kirill. I am at my breaking point and know I must talk to my attorney if safelite doesn't act quick. I gotta watch this one every once I a while when it pops up. Just to remind myself that I am crazy. Not this crazy though haha. Ya Fuyao should call a competitor company Pilkington and ask for tips on how to make better products. Good thinking. Aftermarket glass manufactures could not build windshields to OEM spec if they wanted to. Read this statement.
So, unlike OEM auto glass, aftermarket varieties are products of reverse-engineering - the manufacturers must do some research before coming up with the right measurements for the glass to fit the car. They are not able to consult with the manufacturers of the original windshield.
Remember that aftermarket auto glass is not and can never be 100% similar to OEM or original windshields. This is primarily the result of copyright laws, which do not allow aftermarket manufacturers to copy the design (and specifications) of the Original Equipment Manufacturer windshields.
Do your research before you buy a product. Or go with the more expensive OEM option if that suites your needs. Don't whine about it.

If you go to the dealer to get glass installed they call a glass company to install it. Not saying aftermarket glass isnt sub standard to OEM but once you start driving the rain is hitting the glass faster. The wipers will then move faster. I dont believe Safelite is a franchise either. Rain sensors dont stop right away. From what i see it looks to be working properly. If your getting irratic wiper behavior thats a different story though. I install glass, but not for Safelite. A huge percentage of Safelite employees are inexperienced and young and they have a high turnover rate. But some of them are good technicians. Issues like the one's you're experiencing are not indicative of poor workmanship and you seem to have gotten lucky with the workmanship from Safelite. The reason you're getting backlash in the comments is you paid bottom dollar prices expecting top tier work and did nominal, extremely surface level research into an industry and only accepted leads that supported a confirmation bias. Fuyao is THE aftermarket glass used in the industry. Pilkington is good but sometimes has availability issues. There's far worse parts like XYG, custom glass solutions or saiscam that get used all the time. This whole video reeks of an under informed man with entitlement issues complaining that the cheapest install wasn't 1000 percent to his standards and is going to make everyone's life miserable because of this.
For everyone who disagrees with my appraisal of this situation, know that rain sensors are stupid and rarely perform as advertised even on new vehicles. Turn them off and manually turn on your wipers like a responsible adult. And also sometimes wet glass and rubber squeak when rubbed against each other, get over it. Next time pay for the best parts to be used and let the company know you're very particular about your car.
I hate that I agree with Safelite in this instance, because they have so much to actually criticize.

They also scam insurance companies BIG TIME. Some vehicles have a camera in the window known as a forward collision camera or lane departure warning system. Some of these cameras need to be recalibrated after the install of the new window. Some however do not need to be recalibrated as they recalibrate themselves. Safelite claims that ALL vehicles equipped with a camera needs to be recalibrated regardless of wether they do it themselves or not and safelite would take that stance seeing as how they charge 300$ per recalibration they do not care about anything but $ believe me I would know having worked there for 4 years it’s a shithole company

And it's not just Safelite any reputable glass company should and does recalibrate the safety systems on every replacement

Like I said either you don’t do it for a living or you’re one of the managers or higher ups that propagates this bullshit. Once you plug the encore machine in and initiate the recal THAT is what causes the vehicle to need a recalibration not the removal of the window. Besides I’ve spoken with individuals that own their own auto glass shop and even they have confirmed to me that recals are not required unless you unplug the camera. I’ve been doing these recals for about 4 years and believe me it’s a money making scam I’ve done literally almost 2000 recals. They told me, "Nothing we can do, the sale has already gone through." This is 24 hours after purchase. I don't usually enter promo codes because I assume they are all scams and don't want to be accused of trying to cheat anyone, but realized a bit too late that this one was legit. However, they simply refused to credit me with a measly $80. Before this, I was about to recommend Safelite to anyone. Now, never. Will never go back. Lots of merchants would have understood my issue and lots of stores would have honored the discount because I just bought the windshield YESTERDAY. Hope Depot, whole list of merchants even honor competitor coupons (price-match) 30 days after the sale! However, I was told "Nothing we can do" and the manager was rude. He also knew I was an AAA member, but never applied my discount. Very disappointed with Safelites' business practices. Seems like they hope you don't notice the promo code or remind them you're AAA, and get as much money as they can before you do. Then if you ask them about it next day, "Opps, too late." That's not professional. I'm contacting Safelite head office.
