    Ok, so what nobody here in these comments know is that the price in windshield will change day to day BECAUSE the amount of windshields in stock change whether it’s OEM or OEM equivalent. If they have 5 OEM and 1 OEM equivalent then the OEM equivalent will cost more due to demand and vice versa. This is why the price always changes. You were not scammed you’re just an idiot customer that we have to deal with all the time. Please use your brain.

    I own and operate my own auto glass company. If you want an OEM windshield you will need to specify at the time you schedule the appointment. There is a difference in price. There is no difference in the quality of the windshield. After market windshields need to meet FMVSS . Most insurance companies will pay for the OEM if you request it at the time the claim is filed Although sometimes you will have to pay the difference in price. Insurance companies only pay a certain amount to the glass company

    Geico made an appointment for them to fix my windshield today. They said a Tec would be at my house between 12-5 Pm and as I write this, nobody has showed up after making me leave my car keys in the car all day. They don’t even communicate with you. They simply leave you in limbo wondering what the heck is going on. Act like they’re doing someone a favor yet they’re paying for their services. So disgusting. I called and told them I have to be at work by 6Pm and I’m here still waiting 😡😡😡

    I got two windshields installed by them in the past 3 months. Quality work. But 24 hours realized they had a promotion to save $80, so I went back and asked if I could get that discount. They told me, "Nothing we can do, the sale has already gone through." This is 24 hours after purchase. I don't usually enter promo codes because I assume they are all scams and don't want to be accused of trying to cheat anyone, but realized a bit too late that this one was legit. However, they simply refused to credit me with a measly $80. Before this, I was about to recommend Safelite to anyone. Now, never. Will never go back. Lots of merchants would have understood my issue and lots of stores would have honored the discount because I just bought the windshield YESTERDAY. Hope Depot, whole list of merchants even honor competitor coupons (price-match) 30 days after the sale! However, I was told "Nothing we can do" and the manager was rude. He also knew I was an AAA member, but never applied my discount. Very disappointed with Safelites' business practices. Seems like they hope you don't notice the promo code or remind them you're AAA, and get as much money as they can before you do. Then if you ask them about it next day, "Opps, too late." That's not professional. I'm contacting Safelite head office.

    Issue #1 is China produces cheap crap no matter what factory they are pumping the garbage out. Also because safelite works side by side with insurance companies like Progressive, and they are only going to put in the cheapest allowable product to meet warranty and insurance spec’s.

      Exactly. They hope you don't notice, and if you do right after the purchase, they don't honor it. I went back next day because I could have easily had $80 off, and they said "Sorry, nothing we can do," pretending like issuing a credit for $80 is rocket science. They are a scam.

    I gotta watch this one every once I a while when it pops up. Just to remind myself that I am crazy. Not this crazy though haha. Ya Fuyao should call a competitor company Pilkington and ask for tips on how to make better products. Good thinking. Aftermarket glass manufactures could not build windshields to OEM spec if they wanted to. Read this statement. So, unlike OEM auto glass, aftermarket varieties are products of reverse-engineering - the manufacturers must do some research before coming up with the right measurements for the glass to fit the car. They are not able to consult with the manufacturers of the original windshield. Remember that aftermarket auto glass is not and can never be 100% similar to OEM or original windshields. This is primarily the result of copyright laws, which do not allow aftermarket manufacturers to copy the design (and specifications) of the Original Equipment Manufacturer windshields. Do your research before you buy a product. Or go with the more expensive OEM option if that suites your needs. Don't whine about it.

    Today, I had an experience at Safelite. Two small cracks in my windshield. They asked me to sign a release acknowledging they could crack the windshield completely when trying to repair....and that is exactly what happened. The clerk said "oh, you now need a new windshield which will run you about $700. Do you want to submit to your insurance"? I left and went to Delaware Auto Glass. New windshield $300.00. Why were they trying to charge me double? I won't recommend them to anyone.

    Thanks for wasting 15 minutes of my life over a stupid rain sensor that appeared to be working fine. And as for the glass quality differences between Fuyao and Pilkington there isn't a significant difference. Both are usually fine. Pilkington doesn't have better quality control from my experiences with exception of glass for certain Honda models that have a forward facing camera. Pilkington seems to be the best brand for those models for calibrating the camera after install.

    I work for a Safelite shop and I hate this company, looking for a new job ASAP. Pretty much everything you say about them being scam artists is true, and they love to overwork and underpay their employees, as well as intentionally disorient and confuse new customers so that they just pay us and move on. NEVER put your credit card on file for the job unless it’s completed and satisfactory. 15% of the time the chip will crack out during repair, and Safelite executives are so pushy about invoicing, you’ll likely get charged by accident, with 30 days to refund you. It’s awful. But also from a customer service stand point, you are the worst kind of customer we get. Fortunately our management hates working with people like you so much, they’ll do a warranty for OEM right away. I cant believe you broke your windshield changing the wipers, that is too fucking funny. This video is two years ago, hope you are a wiser person now.

      Interesting, I had a similar experience working there. I remember when they wanted me to install a single piece gasket set windshield on a Volvo BY MYSELF AT A CUSTOMERS HOUSE. I really should've called OSHA on their asses over that. Fuck Alex Abrejo (the 'manager' in the ABQ market). Dude is a straight psychopath and gives zero fucks. I watched so many people get injured there over the unrealistic expectations. Myrna (HR) was also a POS who acted like she cared but would throw you under the bus to your managers. Not to mention the company was scamming insurance companies with the whole ADAS shit. Which they found out about. Most people would take a picture in front of the stand and not do the calibration. Even after they 'resolved' that they still sent me out to the airport rental agency to do the 'calibration' on ground which was unlevel.

    They will put in 1st available parts. Now if you want OEM is closest to it, it will cost more. Either out of pocket or insurance. Insurance will not provide OEM in your vehicle is 2 years old or older. You would have to pay the difference. Also if the glass is not available aftermarket then OEM will have to do but again it will cost. Aftermarket are not bad as long it's not way aftermarket. Keep in mind if you traveling in an area where the city always has construction 🚧 going on, 🛣 upgrades, building etc. And you already had your windshield replacement once already just get aftermarket. Big plus advice. Check the ratings, and reviews for that company your planning on using Or was told to use. Big name brand company doesn't always have to be the one. Smaller companies might be able to get what you need sooner. Another thing it's not always the glass you need to worry about. It's the workmanship. As long as the job is done right per specs. You do have your own choice to pick the glass company it doesn't not have to be what your told. You can choose, do your rating and review research. The higher the rating the better service you will get.

    I install glass, but not for Safelite. A huge percentage of Safelite employees are inexperienced and young and they have a high turnover rate. But some of them are good technicians. Issues like the one's you're experiencing are not indicative of poor workmanship and you seem to have gotten lucky with the workmanship from Safelite. The reason you're getting backlash in the comments is you paid bottom dollar prices expecting top tier work and did nominal, extremely surface level research into an industry and only accepted leads that supported a confirmation bias. Fuyao is THE aftermarket glass used in the industry. Pilkington is good but sometimes has availability issues. There's far worse parts like XYG, custom glass solutions or saiscam that get used all the time. This whole video reeks of an under informed man with entitlement issues complaining that the cheapest install wasn't 1000 percent to his standards and is going to make everyone's life miserable because of this. For everyone who disagrees with my appraisal of this situation, know that rain sensors are stupid and rarely perform as advertised even on new vehicles. Turn them off and manually turn on your wipers like a responsible adult. And also sometimes wet glass and rubber squeak when rubbed against each other, get over it. Next time pay for the best parts to be used and let the company know you're very particular about your car. I hate that I agree with Safelite in this instance, because they have so much to actually criticize.

      Cheap is fine but quality of workmanship is extremely important. Keeps you safe in your vehicle in case of an accident. As long as it's done right. Clean everything, prime where needed, extremely important and it doesn't have to cost a lot to do the job right. Don't go too cheap. That will effect the quality of the technician.

    • @wadestanion4617
      @wadestanion4617 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had cheap windshields and they are significantly weaker from rock chips, also they spider out within instantly. They also have optical imperfections. I used to get these semi regularly. Then one time, the last time, I got OEM and it is MUCH more resistant to chips and cracks and thus lasts longer. It also sealed WAY better and was a quieter windshield keeping more outside noise out. So.... I mean, yes you are correct, you may need to buy windshields no matter what, but you get what you pay for, and if I pay 2 times the price for OEM and it generally lasts 3 to 4 times as long as a cheap POS windshield with the added benefits of not leaking, and quieter..... Well hands down, I am choosing the more expensive better quality made window Every time. It's like getting a cheap power tool from Harbor Freight VS a good quality Bosch or whatever.... I still have all my Bosch stuff and works like new. The harbor freight shit already broke and is in a landfill somewhere. So.....

    Lmao... let me give you my background I am a diesel mechanic and previous dealership auto tech. I assume you think the dealership part was better... lmao. The department of transportation regulates how windshields be manufactured in the United States in order for them to be street legal. That includes manufacturing process, materials used, specifications and testing process. The reason they install aftermarket parts is because that's all insurance companies will cover(OEM parts DO COST WAY MORE!) and the only difference in the two parts is copywritten logos. There is no one at a dealership that is glass certified when a dealership "installs" a windshield they call a glass shop(usually safelite) to perform the installation. Safelite is not a franchise they are a chain hence "national" warranty. The reason why the dealership will say the windshield is "bad" is because newsflash THEY ARE SALES PEOPLE THEY WILL SAY ANYTHING TO SELL YOU THEIR PRODUCT!!! Dealership sales people's are the lowest of the low they have no soul. The reason why you hear a difference in the sound of the windshield vs the door glass is because the windshield is a laminated glass and the door glass is a tempered glass(break it and see the difference I dare you). And the reason why your wiper and rain sensor never functioned properly IS BECAUSE YOU DAMAGED THE WIPER ARM WHEN YOU DROPPED IT ON YOUR WINDSHIELD LIKE A WEAK GIRLY MAN AND THE DAMN THING WASNT HOLDING THE BLADES ON THE WINDSHIELD AT THE RIGHT ANGLE AFTERWARDS!!! You know what else might have fixed the problem? Buying premium wiper blades that don't squeak... you sound like a huge entitled whiny Karen... I would tell you where the bolts are to make adjustments on your wiper arms but seeing as how you can't even install a windshield wiper blade properly I doubt you can do that without breaking something... if you ever get a flat tire and AAA isn't available I imagine you would just sit on the side of the road until you die of exposure... you sir fail at life and manhood.

    This guy is a joke. Your insurance company only pays for oem glass unless the car is two years or newer or you pay the difference of oem glass. Fuyao makes glass for major car companies also. Pilkington is also an after market glass manufacturer that also makes windshields for major car companies. That noise could of also been from water repellent chemical installed onto windshield 🤷‍♂️
