    Honda doesn’t cover Carburetor warranty 👎🏼

      Correct, they don’t fail the carburetor they fail the carburetor due to contaminated gas. To be fair we do the same thing at my dealership. Customers have every right to be upset. True story a few years back we had 3 Lexus guests come to the service drive all on the same day stating “no start”, we failed all 3 cars for contaminated fuel, we asked the same question for all 3 guest, “where did you fill up last?” They all replied with the same local gas station… they all 3 went back to the gas station and presented the service invoice repair bill and were reimbursed for the repairs. Turns out the gas stations storage tank had a crack in it and due to recent heavy rainfall the gas had become Contaminated.

    Your video is very useful; thank you for posting it! I'm going ahead and using two old chopsticks in place of the metal studs for carburetor installation purposes. This saves time and money.

    This video is so helpful. I took my carburetor off and all the gaskets / parts fell down and I couldn't be sure of the right order of parts.

    Outstanding lesson on the assembly of the carb. I bought two M6 X100 mm bolts at the hardware store for $1.39 each and cut the heads off to use as stud guides.

    My GCV170 is having the same rev up / rev down issue so I'm gonna give this a go and hope it's 90% accurate. :)

    Going to add an inline fuel filter to mine after stripping it down and cleaning it again. Should prevent future tear downs 🎉

    Very Good Video. As a small engine mechanic and owner of my own business, North Valley Repair and Small Engine Services I have found that these GCV engines are the hardest to work on.
    My recommendation is alway use SEAFOAM or a real good fuel conditioner and stabilizer and run the machine with fuel off to keep the carburetor.

    @dad's workshop... can you look at this and tell me how to remove the #1 screw that is to the right of where you worked? You remove two of the three in the video...but I want to understand what that other screw is and how to remove, clean, and replace it...Thank you for a great video..with wonderful music.

    Thank you for the video!! My idle when the blades weren’t engaged surged and surged. Took about twenty minutes to get the carb off, cleaned, and back on with your help. Mower runs like new again!! 🤙🏼

    You need a jis (Japanese industry standard) screw driver to remove that screw. easily found online. Funny most Japanese cars like my Toyota have many of these screws which look like plain old Philip screws. I'm sure many people stripped many of these not knowing this.

    I stripped my pilot screw on my HRN mower. Is it the entire carburetor completely shot and need replacement? It was not budging when I try to screw it off

    Just another FYI comment. Honda will be discontinuing the HRR , HRC and probably all other Gas Lawn mowers by the end of this year and next year.
    They , as well as many other manufacturers, are going cordless electric.

      Thanks for your support, Mark! Yes, I have heard the rumors about Honda going all battery powered as well. I'm currently away from my dealership and getting trained on our first and all new fully electric Lexus RZ and quickly learning that EVERYTHING effects battery range. If the driver request "eco mode" the first thing the vehicle dose is cut off and or reduces the A/C! so, this should be fun dealing with customers. thanks again for watching Mark.

    what to do if I forgot to count the throttle stop screw threads?

      Refer to 4:00 mark in video. Move throttle control handle to slow “turtle” then adjust throttle stop screw to 1700 (+/-100) RPM or if you don’t have access to the proper tools and or tachometer you can fully re-insert the throttle stop screw clockwise till set, then turn the screw counter clockwise 2-1/2 complete rotations and fine tune by ear for your final adjustment, that being said this this is not the preferred method if you’re not familiar with small engine repair but this will get you in the ballpark. The goal when setting or adjusting the throttle stop screw is to make the engine run smoothly at low RPM without making the engine stall.

      3.5‘’ or 4” long or 83mm. It’s been a min since I had to use them but you can make your own if you like. I found Menards a good place to go for DIY studs but I shared a link below for the O.E.M. part and price. Thanks for your support.

    The only problem with HONDA is that not all GCV engines were the same for carburetors...
    The GCV160s and 190s on pressure washers are totally different than on lawn mowers

      The cleaner is dissolving any debris/corrosion build up that’s restricting any fuel from fully pass through

    Great video. Whoever designed this carb mount though must have been on LSD. I had many problems with it and had one big problem. I ordered the studs from Amazon and I didn't notice it right away but there is a ridge on them close to the thread that threads into the crankcase where there is a larger circumference that extends for about 3/8 on an inch. I assume this must be for a retainer of some sort. But the ridge jammed in the rubber carburetor flange and would not come out. I had to completely disassemble it and grind the ridges from the studs so they would go through the holes in the rubber flange. After that I was able to use the studs to reassemble it. But I would not have been able to do it properly without the video. Thanks.
