@@KiwiHehe. I didn't know that Filoni said that. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
My ONE disappointment with The Disney + season of Clone Wars (yes, I said ONE, I'm like the one person who didn't completely hate that middle arc) is that the Cad Bane versus Boba arc didn't make it in. I so wanted to see that arc get made.
That being said, I've been jonesing for some more Cad Bane since the last time we saw him in Clone Wars but didn't even think of the possibility of him showing up in Mando. That would totally work. Especially since he's a Duros so it would be the easiest thing in the to just have Corey Burton dubb in the voice.

  • @hydreigon2709
    @hydreigon2709 4 ปีที่แล้ว +99

The dent in his helmet has been there for ever, since the clone wars. Young Boba had a stand off with another bounty hunter called Cad Bane, the duel ended with Bane getting two shots to the chest, while Bane gave Boba the iconic dent in the helmet. So no, Boba doesnt have amnesia.

Personally, while Jeremy take on it was amusing, I was really surprised that the Tuscans would team up with anyone. I've never seen Tuscans react to anyone in anyway other than open hostility. Is that a thing in the books and comics, or is that new material?

I do agree tho that this episode felt more like an homage to KotOR. There you have to talk with and earn the trust of the Tuskens to go through their territory, and they task you with hunting a krayt dragon which is sleeping in a cave. You lure the dragon out with a bantha and blow up explosives underneath it to kill it. You can then decide I think if you want to use the krayt pearl in your lightsaber or give it to the Tuskens.

His voice is indeed iconic. Love that guy.
I'm a little torn however. I love Morrison's voice, but I lowkey want Boba to have his oldschool original Empire Strikes Back voice. It makes him more unique to me, basically "is" Boba Fett, but again I'm torn because being Jango's clone he'd obviously have a similar if not the same voice, as seen in the updated original trilogy. What are the odds Temeura can do a classic Boba impression? Perhaps channel the two voices together? haha.
Either way, he's great and I'm glad he's back too.

On the Boba's helmet having a dent in it:
Originally, before the Clone Wars was cancelled, there was a planned episode/arc that would include an Boba Fett going on adventures with and being trained by Cad Bane. By the end of the arc, Bane and Fett would have a stand off resulting in Bane's death and Fett's armor becoming scathed. While it's currently not canon, it definitely was PLANNED to be. You can even watch the unfinished clip is on TH-cam!

I loved this episode, and I want to see more Cobb. I've always liked Mr Olyphant's usual mix of charm, menace, and creepy, but here the creepy isn't coming through much at all, and the menace is more subtle. And it really works. I also liked the Sand People getting the humanizing touch. I've killed so many of them in various star wars video games, but now I might actually feel a little bad about it.

Someone else on TH-cam compared this episode to Cowboys and Indians coming together which I never thought of until then.
The side quest was totally Knights of the Old Republic. It’s been years since I played that game but funny once I connected it.
Also the blaster hit on his helmet confirmed it was his Armor. Even the crest on the chest plate was perfect to detail. Filoni and Favreau know exactly what they’re doing to the fans. I’m hoping there is fan service but more subtle kind. I was more canon expansion through more story building. Like Dantooine, that gets a name drop but we’ve never seen it on screen other than the Clone Wars.

KOTOR & the Pearl. Lots of memberberries. They should be careful, not everything needs to hark back to the movies. Great episode! Loved the humanization of the Tusken Raiders. Felt bad for the banthas. I loved that fans could tell it wasn't Boba Fett despite having the armor on. Great episode! The formula is starting to show: Mando needs something. Town/Group has a need/problem. Mando has to fix the problem. It's the same story in Chapters 2, 4, 5, 6 and 9 but in different areas and characters. It only deviates when dealing with the child. But I'm still enjoying it immensely.

Honestly, the Member berries in this Episode wasn't the wrong kind of Nostialgia. It takes a keen eye to really notice it. I mean The Boba armor was very much in our face. But we've known for a while that Boba would show up at some point. Ever since Season one when we got that tease in Episode 4 or 5? Can't remember... But it was a given that Boba would return. So they where having some fun with us this episode. But Anakin's Pod engine being Not Boba's speeder was a deep cut. I fealt like i should know it when i was looking at it. I fealt like it was a Pod racer engine and it might even be THE one. But i wasn't sure. So these deep cut easter eggs. It would be a different story if they where in our face just pulling a Arny where he keeps yelling ''I'll be back'' in every film he is in... That is a in your face Member berrie. And that's what Member berries are. They are flashing a refferance in our face and being all like ''You member this, you memeber? Member? look? You member? I memeber...''. That's what South Park was really doing with that plotline. Distracting with Nostalgia to not really out effort into it. And here, most wouldn't even relise anything other then Boba's armor and maybe Boba himself. The rest would be too deep for even most STAR WARS fans. So it's not there to distract from a lack of quality or writng. It's simply there to be a reminded that this is still the same Planet and Galaxy that Luke once had to fight his father to save him from the Dark Side. But this Episode was nothing short of FUCKING Amazing! It started out a bit standard. I was hoping that by the end we would get a tease or just something cool. But the final act of the Episode, they went all out. That was Cinematic! It was Grand! It was Epic! They even used the Chris Nolan trick where they went full screen for the Action shots! I kinda hope they keep doing that. Because honestly, that part on my BRAND NEW LG CX TV was so mindblowing to look at! It made my eyes have a fucking Orgasm! Wide Screen has that Cinematic flare to it. But when a film of high quality true 4K just goes FULL SCREEN it's just so GRAND! And The Mandalorian it's a beautiful show. Every frame looks Amazing! It's been a short while since a pice of entertainment has had me jumping in my seat like i did with this episode! If i was to rate thos Episode i would read it a SOLID FUCK YEAH! So pumped for the rest of this season. I hope Boba is reunited with his Armor. And i hope he can stay on the show for a bit without dying again. Let's face it... Boba doesn't have a good track reccord. But he is still cool. And right now Mando is just the coolest fucking guy everywhere. Would be nice to have his Coolnes challanged a bit. Mando is like the young guy who's just been great at everything. But he still has a bit to learn... Wich Boba could teach him. Even tough Boba isn't really a true Mandalorian. Or, his Dad wasn't... But i guess we could learn that Boba was accepted into the Creed at some point. But Jango wasn't anything more then a normal dude who stole a Mandalorian armor. Think they kinda just blow him off in Rebels or The Clone Wars... Can't remember where. But Jango was not the real deal. But Boba could have been accepted into the Creed i guess. HYPE!

Have to say this series is doing everything right for me starting with the A1 practical effects which trumps CGI every day of the week, to them not using bobas armour as a cheap nostalgia for die hard fans but intriguing the wider fan base to want to learn more about the cool character that was only in a few scenes and even them having Temuera Morrison on cast opens up so much more possibilities for interesting characters such as captain Rex

The bullet ding on Boba Fett's helmet has always been there, since the original movies. It's one of the core design elements of the armor. They even go to the effort of drawing it for the animated cartoon in the holiday special. So amnesia isn't very likely. At least not recent amnesia.
The shot of the helmet being put on the table in this episode felt like a very intentional "See, here's the bullet ding, this is the real deal" kinda shot.

I suppose my comment is slightly missleading, as aside from what I have personally read and heard, I don't know for a fact if "A lot" of people think he's a douche. He's a celebrity, so they'll always get some hate.
But I would assume most people who set out to watch him in interviews, watch them because they like him and not the other way around. Likewise TH-cam comment dislike system works by pushing down disliked comments, so most likely anyone who has negative things to say, are not seen until you scroll really far down.
Edit: Just did so, and my theory was indeed correct.

I love how Timothy Olyphant as Mickey in Scream 2 talks about Star Wars. Even in an episode of Justified Boba Fett comes up comes up. Funny how things work out

I just rewatched a few episodes of season 1, primarily the tattooine episode where they go on a mission to kill the rogue Empire sniper lady. If you remember the end, there’s a mysterious cloaked guy that’s observing mando when he leaves the planet.
So they technically had a mini teaser for Boba back in season 1

06:13 I thought the dent in the helmet was from Boba Fett's skirmish with Darth Vader in that Lengends comic book (is it now Cannon?)

The dent in boba’s helmet was there during the original trilogy. The story around the dent was going to be explored in an unfinished clone wars arc, but you can still find the unfinished scene if you look up “cad bane vs boba fett”

What I loved most about this episode is that it totally could've over saturated us in Baby Yoda. He's one of the most beloved characters in pop-culture at the moment and the writers, directors, producers; all could've drawn away from the actual story of The Mandalorian and just given us the Baby Yoda show for an hour but they didn't. This episode may just be my favorite of the series thus far.

The ding in boba fett’s helmet was caused by a fight between him and cad bane which was cut from the clone wars. Whether it’s still considered canon is up for debate.
