This set the jedi back quite a bit and helped palpatine along. It was not only against the code and needlessly impulsive but it made their job much harder and the sith lords conspiracy much smoother. Windu wasn't jealous of an angsty boy with anger issues, he was mad that he fucked things up. And it wasn't solely his decision either. Yoda could've said otherwise or obi wan. Idk about knowing about the secret love part of it because in RotS Obi-Wan does say "Anakin's the father isn't he?" to Padme implying that this is the first time he knew, without a doubt, that they were lovers. At most, maybe he thought that Anakin and Padme's relationship was like his and Satine's where they have feelings for each other but didn't actually do anything about it because of a sense of duty, honor, and...professionalism?

  • @VIO__

    The ending scene was perfection. Vader coming to the crash site and finding Ahsoka’s lightsaber was truly the death of Anakin Skywalker before Luke brought him back at the end Jedi. When he looked to the sky, you could see Anakin’s eyes under the mask, not the red Sith eyes of Vader as he looked at the bird circling overhead that represented the Daughter who had revived Ahsoka on Mortis.
    I think at that point if he had known Ahsoka was still alive, there would still be a chance that Anakin could have returned and beaten Vader. Thinking she is dead is what killed the last shreds of him.

    • @zusfrankenstein8561
      @zusfrankenstein8561 4 ปีที่แล้ว +75

      That makes that scene so much more impactful and really explains why Vader was so pissed at Ashoka in Rebels. She was alive this entire time but didn't reach out to him, that's what he believes in his perspective.

    • @VIO__
      @VIO__ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      Zus Frankenstein and the tragedy also was that Ahsoka thought he was dead that entire time until Rebels. Despite Maul’s warning that Sidious wanted Anakin and then her feeing something horribly wrong happen with him just before Order 66, she still had so much love and faith in who Anakin was that she never could realize that Darth Vader was him until years later.
      Her line “I won’t leave you! Not this time.” in Rebels has become so much more heartbreaking

    • @ribottostudio
      @ribottostudio 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@zusfrankenstein8561 The finale also makes you understand Ahsoka's righteous anger too. "I am no Jedi." was said with such venom I couldn't quite understand why. But when she's talking with the council (fuck you mace) she said "I did my duty as a citizen." yoda replies "but not as a jedi." she says "no....not yet." AND she tells Obi-Wan to tell Anakin something, she asks the council to speak with Anakin, I think she wanted to tell HIM personally, that she was thinking about coming back. But Vader and Palpatine ensured she'd never be able to......imagine that kind of pain. Damn.

      @Lego What a load of nonsense. ESB was intentionally darker than the other two, and that was Lucas' decision. He didn't want the hassle of directing or producing ESB, but he wrote the treatment and rewrote the script several times before Kasdan came on board. He intended it to end in a personal battle. Kurtz fucked up the production, because he wasn't bothered about being on budget, and Lucas had to borrow more money and directly get involved in fixing the movie. The rough cut didn't work at all. It was Lucas' decisions that saved it.
      Perhaps you don't really understand what SW is supposed to be. It's a silent movie. It's a visual story. The dialogue is there for sound effects and motifs, and characterisation isn't the focus of the movie. Lucas has even said that directly. The prequels were intended to be a broader story that leads into the specific end of the saga, about a father and son and redemption.
      What Lucas was doing was giving a basic story for children, and an experimental film simultaneously. The prequels just pushed that concept to the extreme, for example the lightsaber fights are an even more extreme example of abstract colour and light.

    I only started binging The Clone wars when I got Disney plus, and it made Anakin my favorite character in all of Star Wars and introduced me to Ahsoka, another favorite character! But I have tried to get my friends into it and they won't give it a chance because they're casual fans and it's a kid's show.
    The Mandalore arc was one of the best Star Wars I've seen! It did what the movies couldn't and I was pretty upset and sad after the finale. It was so good! Anakin's fall was so much more tragic because you fall in love with this awesome guy and it really hits you even when you know what's gonna happen. I do agree that it feels like Ahsoka means way more to him than Padme ever did. I don't think their relationship was ever fleshed out enough for anyone to care, not even on the show. Farewell to a great show, one of the best endings I've seen in a while. *Cough cough* game of thrones *cough cough*

    Those last two episodes, as others have already said, are genuinely haunting. Largely because of the music and pacing (and that last scene of course, but I'm going to focus on the music and pacing). In the lead up to Order 66, you hear this Blade Runner-esque atmospheric synthesizer style music, and you totally go "Oh shit, I know what what's going to happen, and it's gonna be terrible" and the characters have no idea.
    It was like that one scene from RotS that a lot of people liked, with Anakin and Padme looking through the windows while music plays, but moreso.
    Whoever decided to play these episodes that way (I'd guess Filoni) is very inspired, because that shit was great.

      I wasn't fussed because the only times she's been shot before (that I recall), was when she was protecting Padme and when she was trying to lift Steela. She's done this from her first day as Anakin's Padawan and is so good at shot blocking, we've seen her redirect fire from two shots, with one saber swipe, back into both shooters on Zygerria.
      She's an ex-Jedi, she's always been fast, she's got two blades, was alerted by Rex, and she's a Togruta, so she knows where everyone in that room is and what they're doing, even without the Force. I didn't find it particularly unbelievable, especially as she started taking damage and slowing down; then they managed to tag her at least five times throughout her escape.
      I appreciated that they actually managed to hurt her and if the ship wasn't crashing, they'd have had her I think.

      Ok, I'll give arguing with you on it a go. To me the Finale felt wasted a 24 minute episode in which 20 of those minutes are completely focused on Ahsoka and Rex trying to escape the star destroyer, and nothing else. The the remaining 4 minutes are the burial scene and the Vader scene, which is easily the most perfect way to end the show. However I can't get over the fact that not much happend in the final episode for the most part. We know that they both survive order 66 because of Rebels. So WHY have nearly the entire episode be about them trying to escape a ship that they already started trying to escape halfway in to the previous episode. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE Clone Wars, and as I say the final two scenes are so full of emotion that it is insane. THE REASON why Ahsoka got through Order 66, while Ki Ad-Mundi was overwhelmed is simple. Ahsoka had a lot of experience with clones turning on her! In the Genosis arc, the clones--infected with mind-controlling worms--tried to kill Ahsoka and Barriss. Again in Season 5, Ahsoka was framed as a traitor for bombing the Jedi temple, and the clones were hunting her down.

      So there are actually nuances to Ahsoka's style of lightsaber combat (based on the extended lore) that can provide an in-universe explanation to her combat performance in these scenes. That being said, I do think it is still *bad visual storytelling*, because (like Jeremy said) it looks like she should be a fish in a barrel, and most viewers aren't going to have the extended lore knowledge to recognize the in-universe nuances that explains these scenes. And of course, XXIVVIXCIII is right to point out that she had to make it to Rebels, and The Mandalorian.

    I find the thing I loved most about this season is the subtle parallels in how Ahsoka and Maul are the perfect embodiment of an angel and demon in Star Wars. Their actions alone hint this throughout their seperate journeys and how they eventually become one as they're forced to survive a nightmare caused by their respective masters.
    The most profound thing for me though was when Ahsoka was playing hop scotch off ships while leading her men to 'liberate' Mandalore. On its own it was badass but the more I thought about it the more I felt it played into the whole 'Guardian Angel' vibe Ahsoka had during these last few episodes. She wanted to protect everyone no matter what yet she was ultimately a fallen angel in the end as heaven itself rejected her while her chariot of victory, the Venator, fell to its doom and with it everything she fought for was meaningless.

    I grew up seeing her on Christophsis for the first time and from then on up to Season 3 I thought she's just a Padawan for Anakin but as Season 4 and Season 5 came along and then Season 7 I knew she would be destined for something greater.

    Clone Wars validates the Prequels by fleshing out themes that were established but that George didn't have time to really drive home. A show attempting to validate the Sequels would have to literally establish and flesh out all aspects.

      The thing is, these episodes were (mostly) voiced and pre-visualised (check those unfinished episodes of The Bad Batch and Crystal Crisis on Utapau) when Disney pulled the plug originally, is what I understood from past Star Wars Celebrations. The Siege of Mandalore is probably the only part of the season which had the most new work done on. It's kind of weird they didn't also finish Crystal Crisis on Utapau, as it's basically ready to go, it just needs rendering.
      Regarding Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple, I think they didn't touch those because the former has been adapted into the last remaining canon Dark Horse Star Wars comic and the latter was adapted into a novel. While we are good with Maul's short "you guys got me out of prison" line regarding Son of Dathomir, Dark Disciple would have been nice if they could have done that, as it finishes Asajj Ventres's story.

    The 1st arc embodies the “action adventure” episodes, which are fun on their own but don’t add anything special as a whole.
    The 2nd arc embodies the “weak cheesy” episodes, which are often stereotypical, forgettable & only viewed once.
    The 3rd arc embodies the “masterpiece” episodes, & these are the ones that redefine how we view the prequels and it’s characters, completely changing the experience.
