    Good emphasis/mention of the faster swing speed with the 921. Thoughtful and thorough, and definitely swinging better than your initial review. Good stuff. Keep it coming.

    Great review and comparison. I think I will be upgrading this winter from my Titleist AP1 714s into these JPX921 Forged after all the consistent reviews of dispersion, feel, and looks. I don't buy clubs often (as evident with my 714s) so I want them to last me awhile.

    having viewed all of these mizuno 921 forged reviews over the past week, it is quite remarkable how every single tester has shown very tight dispersion with the new irons, in some cases crazy good consistency that has even taken the player by surprise... mine are on order so i am glad they are being so well received.

    I’ve had MP20 HMB for just over a year now and been mostly happy, KBS Tour 100 shaft. 921 wasn’t available when I purchased. Hit a bucket with JPX921 7 iron with 3 different shafts a week ago (PX LZ 5.5 / KBS Tour V 90 / Modus 105 S) and it felt good with a slightly stronger ball flight than my HMB.
    Went to Mizuno Demo day yesterday, warmed up, took some measurements with my HMB 7 iron. Hit a couple with the Mizuno Bluetooth shaft optimiser / selector, put the shaft I thought would be for me based on last week (ie. Modus 120 S) straight away. Step up absolutely flushed the first 4 shots, about 1-2 mtrs of dispersion, gained 5 Mph Ball Speed approx. 8 Mtrs carry. Ball flight was in a much better and stronger window.
    I’m not playing down the 1 degree less loft, or the shaft, but combo of the new head technology and the shaft well happy days.......only issue now is I have to wait 8 weeks and sell my HMBs.

    I sure like my 919 Forged clubs. I was fit into them and quite intimidated at first coming from high forgiveness, game improvement Ping G400's. I have found the 919's to be very forgiving, yet they communicate strike quality and shape well (given my skill limitations). I do very much prefer the Mat finish. What I like most about the clubs is the consistency of distance. For me my 8 iron is 150 yds and each club is almost exactly 10 yards difference..... so 7 iron is 160 and 9 iron is 140 and so on. I love that consistency. Combine that with the variety of the Mizuno stock shaft offerings, the amazingly soft feel on good strikes and the surprisingly accurate "3 swing fitting" device they have and I have become a big Mizuno fan.

    I’m still playing the 850 Forged and love them. I feel the 850 has a slimmer profile than the 900/919 and am looking to finally upgrade as my swing has evolved quite a bit. I tested out the MP20 MMC last week and really loved them, but am waiting until I can take a look at the 921 Tour and Forged first. I’d love to see a comparison of the 921 Tour to the MP 20 MMC. The fitting I did with the MMCs was with nspro modus3 tour 105 x-stiff (slightly better control for me than the Project X LZ 6.5). Will also be exploring graphite i.e. SteelFiber FC115 X (stock option), Accra iCWT 95, Fujikura Pro 95 X and would love to see that in a comparison

    I received a demo set via GlobalGolf’s U-Try program (JPX 921 Forged w/ Project X LZ Blackout shafts). I started paying attention to Mizuno after watching another yt channel and then this review video.
    My old set is TM Rocketbladez that are showing their age.
    I agree with everything in your review. They’re beautiful and have a clean, minimalist appearance. Ball flight is excellent. The sound and feel are equally amazing.
    I took them to the range early this morning and hit a small bucket with the 7 iron. I figured if I didn’t like them, I could return the set having used only one club, and if I did like them I’d use them in my round later that morning. The 7 felt great on the range, so off to the course. As the round went, I was more sure that I was going to keep the set. Then on 18, par 5, I hit a 205 yd shot onto the green with the 5 iron that felt better than any shot I’ve ever hit. I can’t describe the feeling when you hit these clubs flush. It’s pure joy. That shot sold the set. I immediately said “Oh yeah I’m keeping these.”

    Hi Michael, any chance you could do a JPX900F vs JPX921F - They are the same lofts across the sets so would be easy to see if the chromoly and new head is making any difference. I hit the MP20 MMC yesterday along with the new JPX 921 HMP. the HMP felt great and was very tight-not as much dispersion as the MMC. But yeah, the 921 was crazy long with less spin. My good strikes on the MMC were low 180's and best was 189. On the 921, I was striking mid 180s at worst, and my longest strike was 201 at 129mph ball speed. For a freaking 7 iron.

      David I replaced my Callaway CBs with the I210s, and I love them. If you have i210 you probably aren't chasing extra distance, spin and control are way more important. 200 yard 7 iron spinning 5200 isn't what I want at all. Also, 200 yard 7 iron (mine goes 178 as it is) just means another wedge, and bigger gaps. What's the point? They are beautiful though!

    The Standard Deviation of the 921 is smaller across the board compared to the 919. The 921 is a much more consistent club.

    I’m torn between the 921 tour and the 921 forged. I love the looks of the tour but I know the forged would be better for my game aha. Trying to drop into a 5 handicap next year. What’s your opinion?

      @edgamblejr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a mixed set: tours in the short irons; forged in the long irons. That is, create a set for yourself. Maybe use the SEL set as an example!

    • @jackiechow860
      @jackiechow860 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ed Gamble I wish it would come with a 6 iron in the forged as well. Looking at my Arccos data my weakest part of my game is my approach game from 200 to 150 yards in terms of coming short (currently play MP60s)
      Will get a good fitting in and give the SEL a try!

    • @edgamblejr
      @edgamblejr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can create any mixed set you want! 4-6 as ‘forged’; 7-GW as ‘tour’. The SEL set is pre-packed for lefties with 4-5 in ‘forged’ and with custom (traditional) lofts!

      I am a average iron player at BEST and I use the Tour 6-PW, and forged 4/5. My miss is always thin or heavy so no club can fix that. I actually prefer the smaller tour head, it makes me focus more. The forged is a little more forgiving but if you’re a decent player you should be able to combo easily. As long as you don’t hit the toe and heel constantly you should be fine

      @@jackiechow860 I play of scratch using ping i25 irons and went for a fitting for new clubs. I hit 50 balls with the 919forged and 50 shots with the 919tour.... My ego said tour but the number were ridiculously overwhelming in favour of the forged...the decision was so clear in the end. I even tossed up getting a hot metal pro 4 iron as the forged only come 4-pw..... in the end I went with the 19clk hybrid and have never looked back... st200ts for the 3 wood was the club of choice even though I desperately wanted the taylormade sim but the Mizuno won in the end. Driver, tried the sim, maverick and Titleist but nothing compared to my existing Ping g400 so I kept my driver...hope that helps...

    As an owner of the 919 Hot Metal Pros, who has bent most of my clubs 2 degrees weaker (7 iron stock was 30, now play at 32 degrees), I would say that looking at the 921 Forged, they have brought everything I like about the HM Pro (the stability frame), to the 921 Forged - and thus it is now the club for everyone. My issue is the ridiculous 31-degree standard 7 iron loft? WTF? You now have a 7 iron with a 6 iron loft that with 'tech' flies like a 4 iron - and your clubhead speed was 'only' 88mph

  • @paultaylor4614
    @paultaylor4614 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    1 degree of loft is not going to mean an entire club difference....you swing fast and it looked like your center contact was much more square but 1 degree of loft isnt going to give u 5mph of ball speed

    197 yards for a 7 iron? I’m not a bad player and I’m pretty long for an amateur. But you need to recalculate that machine. Your dreaming mate. That swing is not the swing of a 197 yard 7 iron. Even pros only average 165 to 175. The really big hitters maybe 180. Bryson can hit 200+ but he smashes the ball you can see the effort. Even Tiger can’t hit a 7 iron that far.
