    I just bought the Hot Metals. I’m a high handicap. I played a round today. And what a confidence booster these clubs are. I was able to make good contact and actually get the ball into the air. Great job Mizuno.

    I’ve been playing with Mizuno JPX 800 HD for more than 10 years. During the Beginning of the Pandemic when work was slow to none, I’ve been playing a lot of golf starting with 18 handicap to now 4.5. Just bought a used set 4-PW with stiff graphite and played about 3 rounds with them. First look was a bit intimidating but when you hit flush, man nothing feels like a mizuno!! Love my JPX 919 Tour.

    Great video. I just purchased the JPX 919 hot metal irons. As someone coming back into the game due to injury, it was worth chasing forgiveness. The ease that I could hit these irons, with a very rusty swing, was amazing. What I didn't expect was that within just 2 weeks of using them and with one lesson with my local pro, my swing recovered and have more confidence than ever. I agreed with your evaluation, and the logic applies even for a high handicapper, hoping to get back to their old handicap.

    @stiffler140 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've gotta say, the tours and forged look fantastic. After seeing the results though, pretty tough to not seriously consider the hot metal irons even if you're a low to mid handicapper. Extra forgiveness and feel, faster ball speeds, increased spin, and comparable launch angle to the others. Seems like there's a lot to love there for a so called "game improvement iron" for a few hundred dollars less. Great video Rick!

    Great combo review Rick! Really like having all 3 in just one easily digestible video. I’m a huge fan of Mizuno and they’ve done another great job on the 919 range. Technology/help combined with looks & great feel...what’s not to love? The JPX Tours are insanely good looking. I tested the 900 Tours (just for fun) and actually found them to be slightly less forgiving than even the MP-18 Blades.

    I have a combo set of the first two models, long irons are a little big in the back but they fly terrific! These are the best irons iv'e ever played, they got more distance.. I hit my 7 iron as far as a 6 and it's launched up in the air with velocity like a 9 iron. Great clubs

    I'm a high handicapper (picked up golf during covid and weekend warrior) with average shoot off of about 103 - i recently purchased the Tours after having Wilson V6's and i mostly hit these well. The forgiveness was good even for me and when you hit that sweet spot you get great feedback! So that being said, im not sure if the tours vs forged vs hotmetal makes that much of a difference but i havent used the others but thats just my experience.

    Just bought a second hand set of Hot Metal (stiff flex) from American Golf last week - £399 for 4-PW. Was hitting the 7 iron 180 yards using according to their software, when my old cr@ppy Donnay 7 iron was going 140-150. Proof will be when I take them out on the course - but definitely felt so much better than my 17 year old clubs!

    Opinions:
    JPX919s or P790s or i500s.
    As far as looks go, all are just amazing looking irons, simply beautiful. I like the direction iron designs are going, theyre almost timeless in the shape and design. Now I just have to figure out which set I would buy and if my bank account can take such a beautiful hit lol

    I have the forged iron set. I love them. Range does kind’ve fall off a bit from 7-5 for me but the forgiveness in them as opposed to the hot metals or tours are worth losing an extra 10-15 yards for, for my game at least. Definitely recommend.

    Wish they’d make the lofts of the Forged the same as the Tour.
    I contemplated getting a mixed set when I bought my JPX 900 Tours, but I wanted standard lofts and the Forged fudges their lofts and has no 3 iron because of it.
    I’m fine with a complete set of Tours, but it would have been nice to have had the option of sticking a more cavity back Forged iron in my bag for the 3 and 4 iron.

    Got fitted today and tried a number of different models (Cobra F8, Talyor Made, Mizuno, Calaway, and PXG). Loved how the Mizuno PXG 919 Forged felt and the way it delivered. It really did look really nice. Even the miss hits really did carry and flew very nicely. I liked them so much that I decided to order the new irons (5-PW). The Cobra Fly-Z's that I bought off the shelf didn't stand a chance.

    Chromoly is just another type of steel alloy that contains molybdenum - and it tends to be quite tough especially in terms of machining and structure. For instance if you were turning a billet of mild steel on a metal lathe versus a billet of chromoly, the chromoly is much harder and tougher to machine. So in terms of using that type of alloy in golf clubs it would certainly add considerable durability compared to 1018/mild steel - but i wonder if you would feel that when using a club made from 1018 mild steel versus a 4140 or other chromoly alloy

    I play last season version of the hotmetal. I've had blades until putting these in my bag and they have definately helped with my distance. The 919 here though look a lot more chunky than last season version 990. I also like the blue ribbon on my version as well. But as always Mizuno makes the best irons of all time --- many tour pros without contract (Brooks) play this brand.

    Look fantastic. The previous JPX-900 range was great. I have the JPX-900 Hot Metals with SR graphite shafts - perfect. 23 degrees 5 iron is a bit aggressive but at least the 45 degrees PW is not offensive - can still manage with 3 other wedges. With TaylorMade and Callaway now you may need two Gap wedges.

    @munnjean 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, very nice review, I'm going to add my two cents worth and I feel what I'm going to mention is very important. I'm a senior golfer, I've played this great game for the better part of fifty years. I'm a member of a very nice golf club in British Columbia and I play off a nine handicap. About a year ago I spent some excellent time with a professional golf fitter at GolfTec. I wanted new irons but I wanted the best of the best fitted for me and only me.I had already decided that I would go with Mizuno so now we had to decide on which model. My fitter's biggest concern was not as much the model as to the correct shaft and how right he was. Of course the head design / material etc. is important but matching those elements to the best properly fitted shaft is of primary importance. The shaft we came up with was the UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 the two irons that we tested was the JPX forged and the JPX " Hot Metal ". I hit about fifty balls with each iron both fitted with the above mentioned shaft and I honestly couldn't distinguish one from the other.In any event we felt the Hot Metal model would be a bit more forgiving and that's what I went with ( 5 iron to gap wedge ). I put them into play in March ,,, they are in all my years the best feeling iron I have ever played ,,, absolutely solid. Easily a good club longer than my Ping i3's, any of you out there contemplating new irons for the 2019 season the Mizuno irons are as good as it gets but remember how all important a good quality shaft is.

    Good review, they look great, will give the forged a try. There does seem to be a lot of overlap with the MP18 range. Forged > MMC & Tour > SC. A direct comparison between these clubs to help us understand the differences would be a great follow on for you to do. It is a little confusing to understand what the differences are. Thanks.

    Just got 4-PW Hot Metal yesterday, can't wait to test them out today! Your video convinced me to buy them as I just started playing golf half a year ago and was looking for some decent irons for higher handicaps :)

    Great review Rick and I agree, the clubs look great. How about a comparison between the MIZUNO JPX919 Forged and the Ping i210?

    The 4140 stamp is the type of metal the head is made of. The chromoly is probably added during the heat treating process to make the metal a bit harder.

    Love the review. I’m currently gaming the JPX 900 Hot Metal that are by far the longest, most forgiving and best feeling Game Improvement Irons I’ve ever hit and I’ve hit them all. Don’t know what I’m going to do lol. Keep up the good work Rick!

    What I don't like about these is that the lofts are different. The cool thing about the 900s was that between forged and hot metal the lofts were the same so you could blend sets, which I did... But they do look nice...

    Personally I would try to blend the hot metal pros in the higher clubs with the forged inn the scoring clubs. I reckon it would make a good set of nice looking clubs. Anyone done this?? Great review by the way Rick

    Hi Rick, the chromoly term is the actual steel they use. The steel is alloyed with chromium and molybdenum which makes the steel harder and more durable.
