    Recently found an OG 1983 German edition of Scotland Yard in the used section of my FLGS for $12. Haven’t gotten it to the table yet but want to soon. Glad you played and enjoyed it, Father Gregg 👍

    Thanks for the gaming round-up. I look forward to playing “Scotland Yard” some day to try out a hidden movement game. “It’s a Wonderful World” is amazing how much it “ ramps up” quickly.

    Cyclades, Maracaibo, Lockup, Carpe Diem, Endless Winter, Hadrian's Wall, Raiders of Scythia, Gugong, Roll Player, Juicy Fruits, Castles of Burgundy - May was awesome (tho I say that every month)
    Never heard of some of the games you mentioned! Is Scotland Yard anything like Mr. Jack? My husband and I have so much fun playing Mr. Jack. We're horrible about lying & tricking each other, so the whole game we're laughing. We get the giggles playing Cockroach Poker too.
    Anyway, you guys are awesome! Can't wait to hear about your June games!!

      May WAS an awesome month for you 😃 Very interested in Lock Up and Carpe Diem.
      I still need to get my copy of Endless Winter played.
      I (Daniel) haven’t played Scotland Yard yet myself. I imagine it would have the same giggly effect though haha

    Sounds like you packed in a lot of plays for the month of May!
    Firenze and Navagador are two I really would like to give a try....Vasco de Gamma probably as well.
    It's so funny, my husband just asked me last night if we had It's a Wonderful World. And, here it is Daniel's second favorite of all time. Well, I am more interested in it now! 😊

      Those are all worth trying! Definitely one of my favourite genres in the hobby (old school euro).
      O yeah! It’s a Wonderful World should be in your collection. Do you like 7 wonders and Splendor? It’s a little bit like if those two games had a baby :)

    I really liked Flamecraft, but I agree that it’s not necessarily anything special or ground breaking. But the art is so cute and I love that it’s basically the opposite of punishing. It’s always rewarding you.
    I think my faves this month were Mystic Vale. Picked that up and taught it to my husband. We’re loving it. And we started a campaign of LotR: Journeys in Middle Earth with our 8 and 9 year old. That’s been really fun.

    • @PunchboardParty
      @PunchboardParty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flamecraft being the opposite of punishing is a great observation :) It’s worth having a game like that around for sure!
      Journey’s in middle earth with your kids sounds like a super fun time!

    Splendor, Bad Company & Maquis got the most plays from me in May. Splendor is my wife's pick 80% of the time, so that nearly always sits at the top (it was plays 199-204!).
    Other games this month: Dorfromantik, It's a Wonderful World (plays 30 & 31), Marvel United (38th play), Cascadia (25th play), Goblin Vaults, Arboretum, Quacks of Quedlinburg, and Rush Out!.

    • @PunchboardParty
      @PunchboardParty  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! 204 plays of Splendor! That’s awesome! I don’t keep track of my plays, but I doubt I will play any game that many times haha
      You had a fun month too :)

    I love Enchanted Plumes! It feels a bit like Lost Cities for more than 2. I do agree that the end game is abrupt. Maybe a house rule is in order. Lost Cities ends abruptly too but at least you can see it coming. Some good stuff got played this month for y'all! I found Myrmes at my second hand book store and am hoping to get out more than one ant my first go around.

    • @PunchboardParty
      @PunchboardParty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great observation about enchanted plumes! It is totally multiplayer lost cities!
      Haha good luck with Myrmes!

    I love Legacy of Yu. We had a very busy May, so that was pretty much the only game we played for May and most of June. My wife managed to go 7-4 on her first playthrough. With some luck, I managed to go 7-0 (although I playtested it a lot, so went in already quite experienced). We've also been playing Hadrian's Wall lately working our way through the solo campaign. We're currently stuck on Fort 11 which is proving to be very difficult. Hadrian's Wall is now in alpha on BGA, so I've been playing it a bit on there as well. I hope they implement the solo campaign on there, as it makes the game a lot more interesting by forcing you to explore strategies you might not otherwise.
    I have a lot of fond memories playing Scotland Yard as a kid, but haven't played in ages.
    Search for Planet X is my favourite deduction game. I'm excited to try the sequel Search for Lost Species.
    I don't know what is about It's a Wonderful World - it seems like something I should like, but I don't enjoy it at all.
    Boon Lake - in spite of the variable game length, this is one I'd like to try. I'm not completely opposed to variable game lengths. I prefer fixed rounds, but if variable, I prefer if you can have a good idea fairly early if it will be a short or long game so that you can plan accordingly.

      Too bad about “It’s a Wonderful World”! I’ve heard others say something similar recently though. So there must be something to it.
      I was just thinking about Hadrians wall yesterday and how I want to get it played!

    Of the FG mentioned games: Alhambra, Spice Road, Lost Cities, (briefly mentioned Concordia & Clans of Caledonia) - man, those are up my alley! So I'm gonna look into Legacy of Yu & Boonlake.
    I played a lot of Final Girl in May, So Daniel - how would you rate It's a Wonderful World at solo?

    • @PunchboardParty
      @PunchboardParty  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      O yeah! Fr. Greg’s taste’s are mega reliable! I too am very interested in those two games :)
      I have not played It’s a Wonderful World solo, that is also Fr. Greg’s expertise. But he loves It’s a Wonderful World solo 😊

    Did you guys film in front of a mirror? You're totally messing with my brain! Love hearing what you played and enjoyed. Best of the month for me was either Power Grid, Brass Birmingham, Rococo, or Cuba Libre. All first plays at HeavyCon.

      @larryjex215 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PunchboardParty Yes it was the deluxe version and it was beautiful. Plus it's a solid mid weight euro. I could see myself buying it from Eagle-Gryphon games in the near future.
