Was only 12 then, but remember the vast majority of these very fondly. Some hidden gems in this impressive list. Everything from pop, ballads, dance, hip-hop, rock and R&B coexisted. Partizan had a more superior song at the end of 1997 called 'Keep Your Love Away From Me' with soap actress Natalie Robb who plays Moira in 'Emmerdale'. Much better than their entry here. What was with the Elastica re-releases? OTT was a short-lived Irish boyband. Guessing cute guys getting their bodies out was the way to sell an average song. Newton's song sounds like a Eurovision reject 🤣 (I know it's a cover). Alibi were one of those acts who got promoted in teenager mags but never got the hits. My favourite is the divine 'Don't Speak' by No Doubt. 26 years on this still sounds fresh and very emotional. Gwen Stefani is a great vocalist and performer. Silver goes to into this toughie list 'Encore une fois'. Sash is one of the best dance DJs ever. Should have been first. Bronze is a tie between Republica (the parody on Smack The Pony is hilarious 😂), Corona, The Bee Gees (who made a great comeback that year), Chaka Khan, Dru Hill, Nuricyon Soul, Michelle Gayle and many more 👍
