Thanks to this video, I've added Patti Austin, Forrest, Chris de Burgh, W.A.S.P. and Y&T to my 1984 playlist on Spotify, never head those songs before so thanks for introducing me to them Francis. My favourites from August 1984 being "Dr Beat," "2 Minutes to Midnight" & "Talking in Your Sleep". Such a shame that some artists (e.g. Evelyn Thomas and Junior)are being let down by their record companies by their music not being available on Spotify.
My birth year and the best year musically! Thank you for this upload. There's many a good a song here and even the lower ranker entries are of a high standard. It's almost a perfect list even! 'I'll Fly For You' is my absolute favourite. One of Spandau Ballet's underrated songs (my favourite of theirs) and it's a great ballad that shows Tony's voice off to it's strengths and a wonderful video. Should have been #1. The Stevie Wonder song is the song that cursed my parents marriage (they were married in this month....Careless Whisper probably more appropriate) 😂 Good song though if a bit cheesy but it's romantic. 'Two Minutes to Midnight' my second favourite. One of Iron Maiden's best and sadly appropriate with the current world events. 'Dr Beat' my third fave. Infectious song and Gloria Estefan's voice and charisma enhances it more. Proper floorfiller. Good slice of 80s disco soul-funk in here too. 'Ghostbusters' thats just a cool song and movie! 'She Bop' should have been a top hit at the time too here. Never understood why Forrest never had a successful career. He had the voice and sound, yet only had two decent size hits. Shame really. That Roger Taylor song could be a forgotten Queen album track. I can imagine Freddie's voice over it. That '17' song sounds dodgy now. Van Halen were never really that popular here, yet in the US they were like Gods.
IMO and regularly supported in various music polls,1984 is the greatest year of pop chart music. Seen as most identified 80s year. And the year has most top 10 best selling 80s hits. Many of the most enduring 80s songs are from 84. And Summer of 84 probably the pinnacle
My curiosity has been piqued by this song "5 Live" by The Truth. It's strange that it can't be found on TH-cam. What was the song like? Fast, slow, rock, pop? I'm from the U.S. and it's fun for me to hear songs I've never heard before!
I see now, "Five Live" was the name of an EP not a single. I looked up four of The Truth's songs on TH-cam, and they sound really good! One song, "The Edge of Town," was featured prominently in a Miami Vice episode.

Aux USA, ces groupes se rattrapaient surtout grâce aux ventes d'albums. Sinon, l'année 1984 était quand même beaucoup plus fun que ce qui était décrit dans le livre de George Orwell.

And then maybe start on rest of the years from the 80's(all entires 1980-89) from: Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria.Norway, Finland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Brazil.......etc

1983 is slightly better IMO. But 1984 is definitely one of the best years ever for pop music.
