The story with Lorincz was wild because you just know she was going to shoot that ten year old boy. She stole from him, threw the stolen iPad at him, THREW A ROLLER SKATE AT HIM for what appears to be no reason, then hit him with an umbrella when he knocks on her door to confront her.

We had one Karen who hadn’t ridden our company bus in over a month. She was used to the adjusted route for the construction of one block by Union Station that will be ongoing for two years. The shuttle company found the new route was ineffective (the route which went to her station first) and swapped to one where her’s was last. She steps on, announces proudly her station to the driver and sits down smugly, thinking she’d be dropped off first. He takes the new route, and she started panicking demanding to know why she isn’t being dropped off first, to which he tells her about the route. She threw a tantrum and demanded to be let off at the next light so she could walk to her station. He complied and proudly announced “good riddance” after she stepped off and the doors were shut. Several of us had cheeky grins the entire time.

Well, lets be honest here. Bus companies that changes their route like this without renaming the bus's route number, are a huge hassle for customers who may not know about the change. These changes need to be announced at least 6 months in advance before changing them to let customers adjust and fine a new route if necessary.

This is a private shuttle company who has five stops, three being stations and two offices next to each other (to help any handicapped riders). Also as part of their initial notice of route adjustments was that it is volatile and subject to change, with updates of the current route being sent out in advance. She had ignored the messages.

@@TetraSky it's pretty bad when they don't tell the drivers about the route changes until the new ones start
we had a company take over from the old one here who pulled that. They also refused to negotiate with the drivers' union resulting in a mass walk-off, so not only did they have brand new unfamiliar routes, but a bunch of rookie drivers who didn't know their a** from their ears.
I had one who tried to drop me and 10 other people off at a blank cliff-face on a blind corner with no footpath, and had to be yelled at to round the corner to the footpath and crossing
for extra fun they thought that basing all the new routes on data from only Jan and Feb as a fantastic idea... meaning that they used the two quiet months and ones where most people aren't going to school. They only had 1 bus to the university per hour for the first week... that did NOT go well for them.

There were a number of such people who enjoyed that sense of “superiority” it gave them because even if all 20 or so other riders were going to the other two stations, we’d go to theirs first for one person. Also no, her expression was definitely smug with that expression she had. Even had the guy next to me mention it.

The teenagers in the parking lot post reminds me of the first time my big brother threw a party. Me and my parents were away for the weekend to go camping. When they returned Sunday, the woman from across the street came knocking on our door. My mother opened, and the woman said: "I just wanna inform you that I counted 14 bikes in your driveway last night." She really went over there and counted the amount of bikes in for a teenage party. The peanut thing I can understand. I went to a school that tried to ban everything and anything peanut-related thanks to a Karen-mom who wanted the teachers to give a PSA to every student about her peanut-allergy son. It was a high school that was all downtown, and not even in official school buildings, but buildings (yes, plural. Three in total, spaced out by 20-min walks across downtown) rented out from the city. This also meant we did not have a lunch room, however, and most students would either eat lunch outside somewhere (the large set of steps a block down, the park across the street, near a city fountain by one building, in an actual restaurant, etc) or go sit in their next class for the whole lunch period and eat their lunch there. They tried to apply this peanut ban everywhere, regardless of where you were downtown as long as it ws between school hours.
One of our school buildings in particular was also literally next door to an Indian restaurant where their most popular lunch special was peanut sauce over jasmine rice. You had to literally walk past the restaurant to get to the building. And the outside just smelled like peanuts, too. A lot of students ordered that for lunch bc it was convenient, but it was generally just a popular lunch dish ordered by the locals anyway, so the restaurant made a lot of that peanut sauce because it was their most popular menu item. If the fragrance of peanut set the kid off at all, we never heard about an issue. We had a very small school, so there ws hardly anything you didn't know about someone in the school. Hearing about an allergy flare-up would have been hot news the same day, not only for gossip, but also because the students cared a lot about one another (it's just how we were as a tight-knit student body).
Now, if I know a kid has a peanut allergy, I have enough common sense to not offer them a peanut product. I also will avoid eating peanut-products while nearby the kid our of respect.
But look, you're not gonna stop me from eating my peanut product entirely, ESPECIALLY when I'm not even in the same building as the kid 99% of the time, or if the kid's in the building 20 minutes away or I'm just sitting outside somewhere nowhere near the school building. If I'm outside the building eating a peanut butter cup or a pb&j, your stupid rule isn't stopping me. 😒

My older son and daughter are in 2 different schools, and both are "peanut free zones". My son is autistic, and for a while peanut butter sandwiches, an apple and a muesli bar were the only thing he ever wanted for lunch. In truth it did take him a little time to adapt, but I explained to him that if there are peanuts around kids who are allergic they could get sick or die, so he understands he HAS to. So, until his lunch choice adjusted, he only ate an apple and 2 muesli bars, and had a peanut butter sandwich when he came home from school each afternoon. He still has that routine today, even though he's not as rigid with PB as he was.

The cashier often packs them as they're scanned. It's quick and efficient, but not always done as some customers desire. Those customers can ask to pack their own, but are never as fast. Sometimes the cashier even has assistance from another employee. We do have stores where this isn't a thing at all, like Aldi's.

@@mavadeloDepends on the store really. Big chain grocery stores have companywide policies to follow when it comes to how an employee is paid: usually by the hour rather than per customer. But the smaller stores? The ones with independent owners? Well, they decide if it's by the hour or by the customer.
Rule of thumb is to simply let the employees do the packing unless you're at a self-check-out, which by then means you *are* going to pack your own groceries. Sure, you can call for some assistance, but in general, that help button means something is wrong with the machine, not because you want someone to pack your groceries for you.

I work at Target, I took an extra shift and ended up being the only person on checkout that day (we have mostly self checkout stations that are card only and a guest service desk that takes cash and card, but they also do other things so the line gets long quickly). I was in line during my 15 minute break to pick up something at guest services and this girl who saw me on checkout yelled at me, unprompted, for not being at my post. I almost cried. It sucked. I hope that girl learns a lesson in respect or never goes shopping again.

What if they just forgot or didn't know that thing had peanuts?
