thank you sir, you are a life-saver i was messing around in the bios and my msi gf66 screen went black entirely, while still running hot, took me a few hours and countless troubleshooting attempts. I removed the cmos and plugged it back in after a few minutes and it worked for me.
Hey, I have the same laptop but mine completely shut down when doing a Windows update. Now the laptops power button blinks but does not power on. I've tried everything including reseating the ram and everything the video has to say but there's no life in it. Maybe it overheated as it was always thermal throttling but I can not check that. In a few days I'm going to be sending it back to be repaired but thanks for the video. Additionally, I tried the cmos trick and that did not help. Its always the msi laptops that have these problems.

Great viideo.. Thank you. Didn't fix my issue but gave me something to try. My 15 C7VFK is just out of warranty and won't boot. Keyboard lights up, no screen, no fans then after about 15 seconds the power light goes red. This has happened a few times but I have fixed it by simply holding the power button for 30 seconds then plugging the power pack back in. No luck this time tho sadly. I simply restarted after an update and boom.. dead. Have tried everything I can think of... time to take it somewhere for repairs. I have owned many PC's and a few laptops and never had this much trouble. These things are a piece of junk and I will never buy MSI again.
@@PC_Monkey Hi, Cheers for the reply. Have tried everything except taking the motherboard out. Am a little scared to do that but will give it a go when I have time. Thanks again 😀
@PC_Monkey Unplugged the battery... nothing. Removed the memory then unplugged/replugged battery again and playing with those two things got it turned on. I was going to use sleep/hibernate for a power switch, but after entering hibernate mode, I was unable to get out of it with the power switch basically leaving me with nothing. I'll open it again, and try unplugging the battery to get it back on track, and If anyone can think of a way to turn the hibernate/sleep off, or come up with another way to fake an off/on switch, please let me know. I tried the mouse and every key on the keyboard to wake it but nothing. Very helpful video and a whole lot easier than loading this thing up and trying to find an honest repair person.
@@PC_Monkey I could be wrong, but my last post seems to indicate my power button is bad. I think that because not only will it not start the laptop, but it will not turn it off, nor will it bring the PC out of hibernate or sleep and the power button is set up to wake it. Not asking for any guaranteed correct answers. 1) Do the symptoms tend to lead you to believe the power button is bad? 2) I'm needing to know if my MSI GL66 Pulse 11UGK-001 has a way of assigning another key for power in the bios? 3) Since it's very tricky to get this started I need to know the exact key if possible to tap up the bios. Best I can gather is it's the delete key, is that correct? 4) For any other work around you can think of, I would be greatful. Thanks and again, just want your best guess, as it will be a lot better than mine...right or wrong, no harm no foul.
Although I am on the verge of just getting a new laptop, the old one is still here for last tries, Here is what happened with my 11 year old MSI GT70 0ND. A year ago I made the upgrade of old and gone gpu GTX 675MX to 970M and flashed bios/EC for it, an upgrade the user Svet knew how to do as he created it and I followed it. It gave another 1.5 years of life to the laptop. Last I used screen cast for my phone and put it in sleep. I long ago deleted hyberfil.sys file as I do not use Hybernate. The laptop would just power ON but : Black screen, no boot. no bios nor windows. When it boots to windows the fans would be loud as a result of the new BIOS/EC but this told me it would not even reach to boot. I was reseating RAMs and HDD and that led to the laptop - to not power on at all. I bought a new motherboard (exact same MS 17621 Ver 1.0). And put everything correctly in place to the new board including the CMOS battery. I was able to power it on a few times for 30 couple of seconds then it shut down - but - like on old board - the Trackpad has no working LEDs, black screen, no logo- no boot. Also to power on is rare. I noticed the cables it uses CNJS E308724 80C 60V 16 pins - are really folded - on one of them the fold feels soft, it is like the cables could be gone? I see no such cables are sold. The foil covered trackpad to motherboard and power button&quick buttons panel to motherboard flat cables are not in good condition.
I have MSI GP76 Vector 12UGS, and the reason why it is not turning on is because of charging the laptop too much. At that time when it was not turning on, neither there was liquid spilled, nor CPU or GPU reached beyond the maximum temperature, but it was still overheating. I was using CoolerBoost with auto fan enabled. Any solution?
Just so you know, over heating situations can be hard to troubleshoot just one issue as multiple different components and boards including the motherboard itself, could all be faulty. An overheating computer can be damaging multiple different components if not resolved. First, make sure that the fan and vents are clean and clear. If you need help accessing the fan, let me know what brand and model computer you have and I can help you get inside it. If that does not fix the overheating issue, then try replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and if needed, the GPU as seen here; th-cam.com/video/K_j4GPjpawk/w-d-xo.html. If that fails too, replace the CPU

If after trying the steps seen here in this video multiple times without anything changing, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. It’s illegal for a company to void your warranty because you broke a sticker. But, if it’s still under warranty, why would you bother trying to fix it yourself? Let the factory fix it.
@@PC_Monkey well i have an MSI vector gp66 and the thing doesn't start up anymore... All i get is an orange light while it's blowing out hot air... I've tried all the things to restart it. I cannot open it up bc i'd lose my warranty. I bought it 2 months ago.
Some things could most likely be saved, other things may be lost. If the computer was very wet, I would first take it apart as much as possible to dry a day or two. Then I would clean all the boards with a tooth brush and a alcohol mixture with a tooth brush. After that, I would try to reassemble and turn on.
I was kinda confused when u said to disconnect the wires thingy of the battery and to hold power button for 1 min then if it turns on which it did to plug in charger i did it with no case on sideways and then i plugged the wire battery thingy back to the charger thingy and i had the computer suspended up on my bed but like not in the air on the bed and it was confusing will it still work if I plugged in the batterry wires while it was pluged in to charger

Hey so I have a MSI Raider GE76 and the power button doesn't work because I accidentally somehow disconnected my keyboard which for some reason is also connected to the power button. I know the laptop itself works but is there another way I could power it on?
Did you reconnect the keyboard after? If so, simply unplugging and replugging in a keyboard should not damage anything connected to it. Is there another reason why you feel the power button is damaged? Are you able to try the steps seen here in this video?
I think I found my cmos battery :o did not know laptops have it , going to try this method , and disconect my screen , touchpad etc , I just need to know if my motherbord is short circuited !
Just replaced the keyboard on an MSI_GL75. and now the unit won't boot. So far i've tried everything in your list with no progress. Currently when I press the power button it turns on. Goes to the orange light for 18 seconds before shutting off and recycling.
If the computer turns on and works well before I perform a repair but does not turn on after, my first assumption is that something was made loose or damaged when I was in there. Can you double check the connections of all components near where you were working? Was the battery removed and the computer unplugged during the repair?
@@PC_Monkey I was, however, the issue continued afterwards. No spills, no new updates, and no overheating; I keep my computer on a cooling pad. I rarely need to use cooler boost. The fans weren't overworking and the keyboard body was cool before shutting off with the blinking light. It's resolved, now, but the cause still alludes me. I followed the steps in this video and another video that had my exact model. I cleaned everything (fans, cooling rods, crevices between the RAM, etc.) and left it to charge for 24 hours. After the 24, testing, same issue. After removing powercord, and trying again after 10 minutes, it turned back on as if nothing happened. Still running diagnostic.
spray 3M adhesive remover on a small microfiber cloth and kep it on the sticker for a minute. Then it will just slide off so nothing is broken. offcourse this info is only for educational purposes and I dont recommend anyone doing it !!!

Yes, if the fan is damaged, that may stop many computers from turning on as its a very important part to the heat assembly and the computer may not want to risk the damage that comes from not having a working fan. I would open the computer up and make sure the fan is ok and does not need to be replaced.
I tried every option but nothing will make the laptop show any signs of life. There's no water damage or any other physical damage from what I can tell. Any ideas?

1. Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here? 2. Just so you know, liquid spill situations can be hard to troubleshoot just one issue as multiple different components and boards including the motherboard itself, could all be faulty. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days.

Hi
I have an MSI sword 15 11 gen laptop.
The light for the battery is always on even though I shut down my laptop. It turned off only when I disconnected the laptop battery. What could be the issue? Please advise
Hey, wondering where the starter pins are on these msi laptops. Like how a tower has those pins you plug the power button into that you can jump with a metal object. Where are those and how do I start them without the power button?
hi, i just want to ask a question. My hp laptop suddenly shut down when i tried to charge something on my laptop, then i tried to turn on the laptop again but it doesn't turn on. also when i'm trying to charge it, the laptop doesn't response on the charger. what do you think might the problem in my laptop?

Were you able to try the other steps seen here? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
Happy to help :) Always here if needed !!
Thank you!! Worked!

Thanks alot for this!

I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. It’s illegal for a company to void your warranty because you broke a sticker. But, if it’s still under warranty, why would you bother trying to fix it yourself? Let the factory fix it.
No, its not illegal for a company to void your warranty if you do something that breaks the warranty.

Is there a chance to recover the MSI GS66 Stealth laptop after a complete flood?
Some things could most likely be saved, other things may be lost. If the computer was very wet, I would first take it apart as much as possible to dry a day or two. Then I would clean all the boards with a tooth brush and a alcohol mixture with a tooth brush. After that, I would try to reassemble and turn on.

If the computer turns on and works well before I perform a repair but does not turn on after, my first assumption is that something was made loose or damaged when I was in there. Yes, if the fan is damaged, that may stop many computers from turning on as its a very important part to the heat assembly and the computer may not want to risk the damage that comes from not having a working fan. I would open the computer up and make sure the fan is ok and does not need to be replaced.

What can i do if my laptop turns on, withe led light on power button as usually, fans work normal, but no logo display, and after 50 60 seconds laptop turns off, and then if i try to start again, it just go off instantly, i've try everything, you sugest, nothing work.(MSI GF65 Thin 9SEXR is the model)
Can you hook up to an external monitor and see if anything appears on the screen during that 50 seconds? Also, try the power drain several times.

Sounds like an issue with the battery. Is it generic or a brand name battery?
Hello, I have a MSI GF65 the fans are turning on and the keyboard RGB is turning on but I’m not getting a display.
It’s getting power but it just won’t turn on. It tries to turn on but then it turns off after about 45 seconds. With or without the battery. I replaced the CMOSS battery because I had it serviced and the technician said it was volting well below 1.0v. And still nothing.
I’ve tried reseating the ram, removing and plugging in the battery again, reseating the cmoss battery and the display as well. And nothing I would appreciate some help.
Did you try the power discharge procedure as seen here? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey yes I’ve tried the power discharge method and no I don’t believe it overheated and there wasn’t any windows update that I know of and I keep away from moisture
Hey sir! I need some help! I have a MSI GE76 RAIDER. My youngest kiddo spilled juice on my keyboard. I was right there so made sure to get as much liquid off within the second it spilled. It started that night turned it off cleaned it up the next day and it ran all day un plugged it and put it up for two days upside down and now the charger indicator says its charging but the power button won't turn it on my key board still has some sticky keys and now im not even sure what to google.
1. Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?
2. Just so you know, liquid spill situations can be hard to troubleshoot just one issue as multiple different components and boards including the motherboard itself, could all be faulty.
After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days.

Are there any signs of life? Lights, sounds, etc? Also, did anything happen before this? Liquid spill, overheating, update?
@@PC_Monkeywhat if there are no signs of life
I love you
Thanks !! Glad this video was helpful :):)
My gf76 died, when updating the bios it turned off and now it doesn't show any signs of life, I'm going to try to remove the CMOS battery, but I believe that only by rewriting the chip will it be able to come back to life, do you have any suggestions?
Have you tried removing the CMOS battery for a couple minutes to reset BIOS?
@@PC_Monkey I reset the CMOS battery and the notebook turned on again, now I have to reinstall Windows.. thank you!!
