My laptop suddenly would only show the mouse pointer but not open properly. Holding down the start key for a minute fixed the issue. Immensely grateful, thank you.

I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown when my laptop wouldn't charge and turn on but I had completely forgotten about checking for static build up and it's back to normal! Just would like to say a huge Thank You. My lap top was not powering up. I changed the battery and there was still no power. Tried your tip and removed the battery and the power lead. Held the power button down for 60 seconds and the power lights came on. Wow! My laptop is now working. What can I say. You're a life saver. Trust me. Thanks again..

also hi, can you help me? didn't work on mine because it had a different issue. i don't know what this means but whenever i plug in my laptop, it turns on, then shut down immediately after 3 seconds, but these 3 icons at the top still has their lights on and the middle one blinks for a while and then stay lit icons are all in padlocks, the left one has a nine inside it, the middle one (the one that blinks for a while) has an A in it, and the right one has an arrow pointing down in it

Unlike a lot of others, I was not about to cry. But, I was definitely mad thinking I would have to replace my laptop and never recover my stuff. THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! I only need a new charger.
Did all steps you mentioned. 1. Battery removed 2.Charger removed 3.Reset BIOS Laptop turns on but then turns right back off. It did turn on a while back and it worked okay for some time, but then anytime you turn it off, good luck. Now it will not stay on at all.

If, after trying all these steps multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; th-cam.com/video/YBhsVHideGE/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/HpabvrNaodU/w-d-xo.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.
holyyy. The moment I heard u say "static buildup" I immediately plugged the power cord without plugging it to an outlet. And it just instantly turned on. Try it if you guys are still unable to boot ur Laptops
I'm going to add to what everyone else has said, you just saved me a thumping. One quick test proved I had a faulty charger on a Lenovo T540P...and $11.00 fix from Amazon. You folks are rockstars.....seriously, rockstars.

Awesome! TYSM! I was panicking, did not have money for laptop repair. You saved me. (Well, the computer. So my work.) It was just static buildup. The power button held down 1 minute fixed me. (After I watched all the videos! Then went back to step 1 as you suggested.) ❤❤

Thank you so much Sir. The laptop suddenly turned off and wouldnt turn on. It belonged to my parent's and I had online classes the next day so was kinda freaking out. Haha so relieved rn. Have a nice!
I have an hp elitebook, it ran into a cycle of turning on, fan runs, cap lock button glows and then resets. I followed all your steps but I took another advice. First try I had the cmos battery ( 15 mins) disconnected , laptop battery disconnected and internal power discharged via power button it didn't fix the issue. In the 2nd try, I followed another advice, kept all these things disconnected and even disconnected my laptop keyboard. I started the laptop connecting everything back up without the keyboard and it worked. (on start up I did get an alarm saying cmos reset white screen) And it worked.!! Cleaned up the pins of the keyboard and now everything is back to normal. Thanks for the advice saved me completely now I can submit some overdue office work.!
Thank you. I didn't try and take my battery out because I was concerned it might void the warranty. But I did disconnect the charger and hold the start key down for just a tad over a minute and BINGO! the laptop went into it's start window with a message that the battery was low. It told me to plug in the charger and I'm waiting for it to charge. I have a feeling that the battery is shot (still under warranty) so if leaving it on charge doesn't work I'll be calling the warranty people. The laptop is an el-cheapo Everis E2037 that only cost me less than $200, but it's nice to have a backup and thank you for getting it to boot up.

Allah saved my life by you!! To be honest, my laptop didn't have a black screen, the sceen was lightened and on but it wasn't responding and i couldn't see my apps. my laptop doesn't have any attached battery to be openned. But i unplugged the charger and pressed the power button(just as you said) until the video was at 4:00 and voila!! The laptop turned on and i screamed!

also hi, can you help me? didn't work on mine because it had a different issue. i don't know what this means but whenever i plug in my laptop, it turns on, then shut down immediately after 3 seconds, but these 3 icons at the top still has their lights on and the middle one blinks for a while and then stay lit
icons are all in padlocks, the left one has a nine inside it, the middle one (the one that blinks for a while) has an A in it, and the right one has an arrow pointing down in it

Ayooo 4 years and is still working!!!! Did all steps you mentioned.
1. Battery removed
2.Charger removed
3.Reset BIOS
Laptop turns on but then turns right back off. It did turn on a while back and it worked okay for some time, but then anytime you turn it off, good luck. Now it will not stay on at all.

If, after trying all these steps multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; th-cam.com/video/YBhsVHideGE/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/HpabvrNaodU/w-d-xo.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.
holyyy. The moment I heard u say "static buildup" I immediately plugged the power cord without plugging it to an outlet. And it just instantly turned on.
Try it if you guys are still unable to boot ur Laptops

I'm going to add to what everyone else has said, you just saved me a thumping. One quick test proved I had a faulty charger on a Lenovo T540P...and $11.00 fix from Amazon. You folks are rockstars.....seriously, rockstars.

Awesome! TYSM! I was panicking, did not have money for laptop repair. You saved me. (Well, the computer. So my work.) It was just static buildup. The power button held down 1 minute fixed me. (After I watched all the videos! Then went back to step 1 as you suggested.) ❤❤

My laptop hadn't turned on for nearly 3 days. Finally looked up to see what was wrong and came across your video. Removed the battery, held down the power button for a minute, plugged it in and it turned on right away. I'm really glad I can across your video, if this didn't work I'd have been really worried. 😅

I have an hp elitebook, it ran into a cycle of turning on, fan runs, cap lock button glows and then resets. I followed all your steps but I took another advice. First try I had the cmos battery ( 15 mins) disconnected , laptop battery disconnected and internal power discharged via power button it didn't fix the issue.
In the 2nd try, I followed another advice, kept all these things disconnected and even disconnected my laptop keyboard. I started the laptop connecting everything back up without the keyboard and it worked. (on start up I did get an alarm saying cmos reset white screen) And it worked.!!
Cleaned up the pins of the keyboard and now everything is back to normal.
Thanks for the advice saved me completely now I can submit some overdue office work.!

Thank you. I didn't try and take my battery out because I was concerned it might void the warranty. But I did disconnect the charger and hold the start key down for just a tad over a minute and BINGO! the laptop went into it's start window with a message that the battery was low. It told me to plug in the charger and I'm waiting for it to charge. I have a feeling that the battery is shot (still under warranty) so if leaving it on charge doesn't work I'll be calling the warranty people. The laptop is an el-cheapo Everis E2037 that only cost me less than $200, but it's nice to have a backup and thank you for getting it to boot up.
Glad your all set !! Yes, if your computer is still under warranty, I would recommend a warranty repair. DIY is great but not as good as having them do it for you hehehe

Allah saved my life by you!! To be honest, my laptop didn't have a black screen, the sceen was lightened and on but it wasn't responding and i couldn't see my apps. my laptop doesn't have any attached battery to be openned. But i unplugged the charger and pressed the power button(just as you said) until the video was at 4:00 and voila!! The laptop turned on and i screamed!
