Hi everyone! Let me know how you're using loop cuts in the comments below! :)

Curiously when I do loop cuts, it is creating double vertices? I can delete the loop, and there is another loop underneath. Do you know why this is?

      Hi there,
At 7:55, you talked about placing a loop on top of another loop and sliding it down in order to put a loop an exact distance from some other reference point. That works if you have a polygon with two pairs of parallel sides. But in my case, I'm trying to do a vertical loop cut with a building with a slanted roof. If I slide it afterwards, the loop's z-axis doesn't want to increase/decrease with the slant of the roof. Yes, I know that I can type g g to grab and slide along, but that that would get me some imprecise distance away like 1.023646 ft instead of the 1.0000 ft that I want. This seems like a really simple thing and I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure it out.
      Could someone please help?

Great loop cut tutorial. A real life saver!
A few comments: Please always mention the Blender VERSION used in your video, so you are not blamed in a year when your directions do not work in Blender 5.3 🙂. Also, mention the MODE: Ctrl-R works only in Edit mode, and it works the same whether you edit faces, edges, or vertices. And, finally, you must hover your mouse over an EDGE, not over a face!

Thanks for the tips. I was not aware of the smoothness option. Thanks a lot. But what helped me the most was the E key while creating a loop cut of angled object: a great Life saver! You are a fantastic teacher.

☝You can create two cuts on BOTH ENDS of a cube - to model a sofa for example:
    CTRL+R (Loop Cut) > Wheel up (2 Cuts) > LMB (move cuts) > S (scale/resize) > MMB > Move > LMB.
    or
    CTRL+R > LMB > RMB (perfect middle) > SHFT+CTRL+R (offset edge loop) > Move > LMB.
    or
    Use the Mirror-Option

I use a pen. Does Blender have a keyboard key that would work as a scroll during loop cut or a way to do that same thing? thx

Is it possible to add a loop cut and then slide it later? I was using the move tool but that seems to be creating some overlapping.
Also, I cannot figure out how you selected the loop at 8:03. You just very quickly did something and it worked, lol. It's exactly what I needed to know. I guess and also how you are moving it because mine doesn't look like that and when I use the move tool it's also doing overlapping.

As you slide the loop, you can toggle between ends of the loop by pressing the F key.

i was looking for a way to create loop cuts with an exact distance from the edge, you're the only one that I found (google first, then youtube). Great video, you helped me out a lot. Just subbed (i was surprised you had like 451 views so I got lucky today!)

Question : I have an uneven object and if I loop cut the lines follow the outline of the object but I want to have a straight even cut, I read that you can type: CTRL + R ; S + Z + 0 (to cut in the shapes' Z axis) but it does not work for me. It deforms the object. What keys do I have to press? I am using a Laptop keyboard, so no Numpad is available.

Great! What about a loopcut through a cube with an opening made with the bridge tool. The loopcut is only outside , but not inside?

May I ask, how do I get the scroll wheel to work again on the loopcut tool? Because my scroll wheel can't add lines in blender. Even though it could be used before.

    Newbie question….
I am currently modeling a Boeing 767 jet.
Ready to start painting but need the paint pattern to go a certain way.
    See photos below.
The first photo is my current model.
The second photo is what I am trying to achieve…..a crisp, clear, CURVED line between the dark grey and white areas.
Found a video on how to make a candy cane on TH-cam…which I intend to use, BUT my question is…
Can a loop cut be curved/shaped AND angled to get the results of the second photo?
Tried to paste in a copy of photos. Do you have an email that I can shoot these to?

    • @aarondavis8943

I've wondered the same thing. I think the cut is always affected by the loops to either end of the adjacent faces. So you'll have to use knife.

Damn. I wanted to know how to change the spacing of the loop cuts. If I have a cube and wanted to make 2 loop cuts they will automatically center those on the cube but I wanted the two loops to be closer to the edges of the cube..how do I go about doing that? I've seen it in videos but they never explained it.
