Just to clarify the story which was edited due to time constraints, there were 4 incidents. On the day BEFORE the bus stop change was scheduled (on paper) she was taken to the NEW stop and told to get out of the bus..we had not even moved in. Day of bus change.. bus arrives 35 minutes late after one bus stops and says they will “radio to another bus” to stop for her. Same day on return home I receive call from my daughter that she was taken to the OLD stop, the driver did not make her get out, but now has no idea where the new stop is.... so I have to tell the driver the intersection. Third morning my daughter calls me at work in NAPLES and says it’s 6 minutes till school starts and the bus didn’t come ( 45 minutes at stop). When I call the school they tell me that’s they can’t even reach the transportation dept. and she should just go home and they would give her an excused absence. I said she can’t miss another math class, but she could only say she would keep trying. My daughter walked home after almost an hour at the stop. In 5 stops they screwed up 4 of them. Not good. One time..or even 2 “mistakes” sure..new stop, I understand. FOUR times in a row? No. I needed help and FOX 4 was who I called.

I can handle the cold because in my state we get some pretty bad winters, yet i got home and i was crying because my hands hurt to hold anything because it was 17° F outside and there was no sunlight. In 4th grade i was stuck at the bus stop for 2 hours and i went home cold and i got sick from the 30° F weather because no one informed students of a 3 hour bus delay. School districts need better communication in all ways, busses, classes, teachers, principals, and literally everything else. People wonder why we hate school so much.

Some walked or were dropped off by parents or buses. About a half hour after class was suppose to start, we were told, "Due to the unexpected extra 2 ft of snow that is coming our way, school is cancelled only for today" and were told to go home. Buses were told only after it was announced to NOT go out and that parents would get them. Parents were never notified and cell phones weren't as mainstream as they are now. Maybe 6 students had one. Some of us lived a few blocks away and stayed there. Some even had to stay the night because parents couldn't safely get them and a notice was posted to not drive and stay inside. While other schools were shut down, ours told us to come back, only to be told to go home as it was cancelled again. After 2 days, we were officially told that school was closed that week. The school came up with some BS excuse about school safety and that student would destroy the school if staff wasn't there and only a few teachers had keys to unlock the doors.

Mechanical issues All of these reasons caused me to miss 1st period Advisory and show up late to 2nd period science in 7th grade And in 8th grade I was late heading home because of: 1. Bus being late arriving to school to take us home(school ended at 2:10 PM, the bus finally arrived at 2:45 PM)(busses were supposed to depart from school at 2:15 PM and get me home by 2:50 PM) 2. Small accident in the continuation high school parking lot(but I got a ride on another bus all by myself to get home) 3. Telling them to hold the bus because I was changing in the locker room after a color battle day 4. Having to transfer other kids to other busses And now I don’t have to deal with any of those issues because I got my drivers license on June 10, 2019 and I started driving myself to and from school beginning in the 2019-2020 school year (sophomore), and I will continue to do that once schools reopen for the 2021-2022 school year (senior). In the meantime, I’ve been driving myself to athletic conditioning, that’s the only reason I’ve been on campus at all so far. I’ve been doing that since October 5, 2020

In elementary I had a bus drive who always came 30 mins late and We get to school with 2-5 mins to get to class. Then I get to middle school and thankfully the guy was always on the dot,sometimes 1-2 mins rarely late.

This is normal in my state. As a bus driver I would get in trouble for dropping off kids close to where they live. The routes were bad wrong. Sometimes stops were miles from streets where 20 kids lived. Answer: too much colleges and not enough common sense

It shouldn't have happened in the first place. What if that student had been abducted? It's common knowledge that once you drop your student off at a bus stop, the school system is legally liable for that student's pickup, dropoff and ensuring that the student is safe. The statement by the school district is just that, an excuse. It shouldn't have happened in the first place. Not only should the substitute driver be fired but so should the permanent driver as well.
