    This was for sure helpful as I'll be working on a Volvo 850 with similar issues of oxidation. The paint I'm dealing with is quite a bit better, with only slight oxidation but the customer wants to protect from future damage so I'll be ceramic coating it after correction. Should be fun!

    Always fun with you get a good result like that from really faded paint. Reminded me of my work on a "pink" (faded paint) classic Barracuda that turned fire engine red after doing something similar to that paint. Great video.

    OK, I do not see above. I am a 77 y.o. retiree and unfamiliar with a lot of things...and no, I was never a detailer, but did my own mechanic/painting. My 72 PU is painted with metallic enamel about 4 years ago and the oxidation is pretty heavy. I never waxed it, or put polish on it during this time. My question is: you reference spraying the pad with PAD Conditioner?? Or Spray? What is it? I do not see it in your list of items used above.......

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kenneth! Pad Conditioner lubricates the polishing pads to reduce wear and tear as well as reduce excess heat and friction which can dry out compound/polish before it has properly broken down. Check out this link.

    Was some of the paint being transferred onto the orange and white pad,because of the paint job it had?

    • @holnugget
      @holnugget 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is very worrisome. When you see that much paint come out on the white pad, that means the clear coat is non-existent. You are just cutting off and thinning out the paint. Before long, you will be down to metal. I would measure the thickness of the paint and re-clear if there is enough left.

    How do you remove clear coat that is peeling off and to reapply clear coat

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lee! When the clear coat is peeling the only way to remove it is by wet sanding and then respray the clear coat.

      Hey there! Due to the condition of the paintwork and being a single stage it is normal for paint to transfer to the pad.

    You sure that pain job is Matt because the clear is oxidized or it is just adding gloss to Matt paint with no clear on it

    It actually looks like you sand the paint before polishing, did you? It looks very even, not shiny at all but very even...

      Hey Fernando! Nope, this Nissan rolled into the Detail Garage after many years of neglect. UV rays oxidized the metallic green paintwork but after polishing we were able to revive some of the life in this little car. - Happy detailing!

  • @BillyT531
    @BillyT531 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice result, but curious why you didn't go to a V34 or V32 product? If you had wanted to spend the time, wet sanding it first seems like it would have made a bigger difference.

    • @AdventuresGaming
      @AdventuresGaming 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wet sanding will just be an aggressive approach and cause that to remove the clear coat off the car which will cause damage to the car unless you apply the clear coat back

      Hey Bryan! In a pinch, you can use your favorite quick detail spray to moisten the pad but this should be a temporary solution.
