As a bass-baritone, I always love seeing that voice part get a solo. We're often overlooked and Stan Rogers, famously a baritone, wrote Barrett's Privateers specifically because he never got to sing lead on any shanties.

@@billydagoat9714 Heeey, try going to a vocal coach, hitting growl notes and sustaining head voice notes can be really stressful on your vocal chords and singers have been known to shred or even tear them, so if you wanna keep them around for a long time, and sing low even with a baritone voice, go see a vocal coach, you won't regret it, if it's a passion for you.
@@notnull5878 i will surely do that at some point. I was mostly just looking for tips that i could do at home to improve my bass vocals. But thank so much!
@@billydagoat9714 I agree with APHlubo by going to a vocal coach. There are many exercises to strengthen your muscles in your throat and face that can help you sustain a wide vocal range. It is stressful on your vocal cords when singing really low like Tim Foust. If you feel your voice cracking on the lower end of the range, your vocal cords aren't open enough. Try making gurgling sounds like you're drinking water. Try that exercise for a bit, and that should help open things up.

I'm not usually a big country fan, but I love these guys. Both their country and other recordings. Love how the best aca groups each seem to have their style.
Bob Smoot that’s because they fill the complete range of sound Whereas with women even a bass singer is still not as low as a man bass which makes the female tenor so high the sound is thin compared to a male quartet Having said this there are some women groups who do have low basses which gives the group a fuller sound
I agree with what Greg said. But the occasional female voices factored in with an amazing group like Home Free would be really neat. I love the way the male voices cover the ranges and would love to hear the harmonies with ladies. The human voice is the best instrument out there! I forget who said that but these guys are proof of that. 👌

Ok, time for a comment. I am only now, months later, able to verbalise my thoughts and emotions on this without sounding like I have the IQ of an underdone turnip, because that's what your performances do to me. Austin and Rob, fantastically fluid and clear voices. Austin, I love the little growls peppered throughout, very nice! Adam, holly Hell, are you even human?! Somebody take that man to the hospital, he's swallowed a mouth organ! 2:10 - 2:37 Gods alive, Tim! My table and floor vibrated! The harmonies were gorgeous as was the entire song from whichever angle you want to look at it! I loved the crackling vinyl effect at the beginning and the end. The video was also beautiful with you guys in period clothes and standing in the rain (Which, fyi, is really wicked of you. Standing there, half-wet, looking like that while singing like that... I like to think of myself as a nice person, but it's moments like these where it gets really hard not to envy your significant others. I very much hope they know how lucky they all are!) All in all, yet another masterpiece, guys!

Damnit that bass has one hell of a voice
He just might give Richard Sterban a run
His name is Tim Foust. Isn't he fantastic?!
fool i can easily reach that note
@@alexdivinetz8644 reaching a note does not make you a good bass. Lots of baritone can sing nearly as low as some of the lower basses. But basses have clear bright pitch, and can sound their most powerful in that register, fool.
he is pretty damn good looking too. Avi Kaplan did a video with them Ring of Fire. loved it.
That bass voice came out of nowhere and went straight to my core! Amazing cover!
Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust tend to do that
You should hear him live. He will literally vibrate your soul, if he doesn't bring the building down from his seismic notes.

Ladies, you have wonderful voices too; but there is just something wonderful and powerful and thrilling about a group of men singing together!
Bob Smoot that’s because they fill the complete range of sound
Whereas with women even a bass singer is still not as low as a man bass which makes the female tenor so high the sound is thin compared to a male quartet
Having said this there are some women groups who do have low basses which gives the group a fuller sound
I agree with what Greg said. But the occasional female voices factored in with an amazing group like Home Free would be really neat. I love the way the male voices cover the ranges and would love to hear the harmonies with ladies. The human voice is the best instrument out there! I forget who said that but these guys are proof of that. 👌

What a wonderful group! Am 74 and their sounds reach into my heart
2:35 the bass goes one octive lower, i-n-s-a-n-e.
Tim Foust is insane.
It's just baffeling to me how many of the "react to .." videos i've seen where they dont even notice that drop after his solo section.
@@ArrakOfNorway Cuz they're just making videos lul. A few have. Kevin Lavigne and the Charismatic voice.
Yeah....
I think I'm pregnant.
@@shawnthompson2303 I hate when that happens 😂
I never thought I would hear a better version of this great song, but this is a killer version probably my favorite right now!!

“THOSE” from Israel wrote your jesus story, the story of the Fallen, and “THEY” have DECEIVED THE WORLD. PLEASE, go back and read what I shared
What a wonderful, lyrical rendition this is. Great individual voices and superb harmonies.
Tim has an unearthly vocal range that seems to cover bass thru tenor. Quite an amazing gift.
The bass man the one that. An hot those real low notes yep he got real impressive range I never seen anyone that could hit low notes like that an go from tennis high notes straight to super low notes. Johnny cash randy Travis singers known for real deap voices an bass notes can't hit those high notes. But this guy has no problem doing just that. One second he singing high notes to shortly singing super low like what
This is the song that turned me into a Home Fry. I LOVE this so much more than the original. In fact, you guys have taken just about every original & moved it to a whole different level. A real testament to your God-given talents and passion. Ya'll are an inspiration and an example of how artists should hold themselves. God Bless!
Absolutely the best version of this song I have EVER HEARD.
I agree!!!!!!

Debatable but a very close call
They are good but I don't buy their words, they dont sound like they've ever been in constant sorrow. Dan Tyminski blows this out of the water.
Indubitably.
Oh my...my..my myyyy.
This song..these voices reach into my very soul.
I cry, smile and am just amazed by these men. True talent.
I can't stop replaying this.
OMG blew my.mind. the voices are so crisp and fall in place. The sound and engineering of that song is top class. Raw talent. Shebang!!!!!!!
Hello Marta how are you doing
@@michaelspencer436 how are you doing today?
I sang this repeatedly as a young girl. I thought I’ll bet my Mom is sick of it but you’ve made this completely different and your own. First I thought I’ll get her this for Christmas and I will but also for me and I sure won’t wait until then. This is beautiful. You’re getting happy tears from me. Thank you.
Hello Heather 👋 How are you doing today?

I'm 72, soon to be 73 and I agree as well!
After listening to a lot of Home Free's wonderful songs, I am dubbing this song as their masterpiece. What a feast for the ears! And the DJ scratch at the end is like a cherry on top. Way to go guys!
