While I agree with you, I find it strange that you try to disassociate Alison and the band. Here's some history on _Union Station_ "Union Station is an American bluegrass and country band associated with singer Alison Krauss. The act established in 1987 as a backup band for Krauss is usually referred to as Alison Krauss and Union Station and was initially composed of Krauss, Jeff White, Mike Harman and John Pennell. " Krauss and the 'band' are one and the same.
Alison Krauss doesn't need a boost from anyone. The song has been around for over 100 years abd coverd by nearly everyone that is someone and then a few more. Hell, even Bob Dylan did it
Well you may not have heard their music but Allison Krauss has won 27 Grammies, 13 Country Music Awards, 14 IMBA awards and 106 Nominations for all of them. She has more than ANYONE even Quincy Jones. So a few of us knew about their music.
Alison playing in Urbana, IL bar, she was so incredible knew we couldn't keep her with us. She needed to find the next level. Union Station was answer to our prayers for her. She is even better than we could imagine!
Having met these players a couple of times, I can tell you that they are as genuine as can be. Miss Alison is about the sweetest person I have ever met. When she sings it's as if the words just come out so effortlessly, like she is just talking to someone normally. That's the true mark of a professional. Can't wait to see them again.
What a great group of musicians that is. The groove is so good, and without a drummer. Impressive playing and singing. Krauss's solo is worth the price of admission by itself. Good to her just playing fiddle once in while.
true bluegrass never has a drummer! it destroys the whole genre of the music. if you use drums in bluegrass, weather you like it or not, you just became country!
Their rhythm is so super TIGHT. And yes, they shouldn't have a drummer, but what's so impressive is how steady and locked together they are without one. I've seen them a few times live, and seen plenty of really good rock bands in my life. AKUS is the best-playing live band I have ever seen, regardless of genre.
Bluegrass usually has the bass keeping time along with another instrument mandolin/Dobro/violin. The bass plucks a note and the other instrument follows with a 'chop'. You get a 'boom-chick-boom-chick' rhythm that is similar to a bass drum with snare drum or hi-hat in music that has a drum set
"Keeping Tempo" - well said Simon ... and the way they seamlessly take over the back beat from each other when soloing! No timing glitch, or velocity change - WoW! ... absolutely WOW!! Monstrous musicianship 🙏
i got to meet Jerry Douglas when my mother was dating his brother Blaine. Both of them were such good dudes, now nearly 15 years later i can say they influenced my perceptions and appreciation for music and life itself. They'll probably never read this, but I just wanted to say thanks
@0:25 Alison doesn't smile much when she performs, but she's grinning ear-to-ear at Dan's funny start to this song, perhaps some kind of inside joke. What joy these people experience performing together. Glad we get to join them!
I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life and seen some incredible musicians and seeing Allison with this group of super talented musicians was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Jerry Douglas, on the dobro is not only the best dobro player in the world, he's one of the greatest musicians of all time! I can't get enough of Union Station. "I'm a Dapper Dan man"

You don't really have to just hold the lyrics up for your nose and then turn around backwards in your bathroom mirror baby it make sense have fun and be cool
I love watching great musicians play....and It's soooo much better when they are just hummin' along like this.....firing on all cylinders.....lightin' it up! Fantastic rendition! Thanks!
As I saw the movie the first time I instantly fell in love. And a big role played the music, especially this song. And has anybody but me realised that: All Lefthanders here! Amazing!
I love this, when I was a kid living down near Lake Cumberland, everyone carried their instruments in their car! All my Family Played guitars or Banjo's and fiddles! People would stop by, always had music in my life!
Uh sir, I'm Jordan Rivers, and these here are the Soggy Bottom Boys outta Cottonouille, Mississippi. Songs of salvation to salve the soul. Uh, we hear that you pay good money to sing into a can.
Brandi... boys.... strings. This was phenomenal 👏 I feel like I had an out of body experience. I just loved this❤❤ Absolutely beautiful and amazing 👏 😍 ❤
Saw these guys around the time of the movie in the Florida Theater and it was like getting three shows for the price of one, there was so much talent on that stage ...
I call this storytelling, and reminiscent of generations behind us. Please we can’t lose sight of how important this is for future generations. We need to take several steps back to more forward.take care.
Caught this AKUS concert with Allison Krauss and Union Station on TV many years ago and made sure to put it on VHS. I never listened to them before, though I did like bluegrass music for some time. These people are just amazing musicians and it seemed every song they performed was perfect. Gunna go check to see if there is more of this concert on TH-cam.
Who else is here listening to this 20 years after O Brother, Where Art Thou?
I am
Me. I'm the go****ned mater familias!
Me. It's me.
Aye. Me too

Never saw so many talented left handed people in one group so talented.
Of course, video is reversed, as they often are on TH-cam. I guess it's to prevent the algorithm from catching it. I take your comment as sarcastic.
Reversing Alison didn't make her any less pretty.
@@jeffandsherriefranzwa8970 She is an angel on earth. With a fiddle...
Well, everybody could be a left-handed player when they reverse the video
😅😂😅
Loved that quirky movie and love the music!
As an African American, I fell in love with Bluegrass music after seeing “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou”.
It’s the music of the Angels.
Welcome and love you brother. Check out billy strings.
Me too! The movie got me into bluegrass
Sorry, mate, most of it's called "Old Time". :((
I am as well Anthony.
That’s cool. It’s great music!
These songs from the film are my husband' s favourite.

Ms Allison is one talented lady… melts this cowboy’s heart
No autotune, no bullshit, just talent. Damn!
Boy, you got that right!!
O Brother Where Art Thou was a huge boon for these guys. People that would otherwise never hear their music loved this song.
Alison Krauss doesn't need a boost from anyone. The song has been around for over 100 years abd coverd by nearly everyone that is someone and then a few more. Hell, even Bob Dylan did it

Oh my, Country Music performers are so dang talented.!!! Love them Country Folks, how sweet it is‼️😘
The chemistry between these guys at the top of their game is timeless. I can never get enough of it.
My Dad's favorite song. He passed almost four years ago and when I listen to this it brings back great memories and that I miss him so much.
Never tire of hear this song.
I too am Man of Constant Sorrow- it's called clinical depression. Most people not feeling it are not paying attention to present reality.
One can not witness these artists play this song and not get goosebumps IMMEDIATELY

we may not agree but this will be the best blue grass song for at least a generation!!!
How many people noticed the vid was flipped and everyone was playing left handed?
I just thought it was a coincidence that they were all left-handed?? Dumb me!

Sure they do! Check out Daily and Vincent. And Rhonda Vincent! All terrific bluegrass groups.
Such a talented band they can even play their instruments opposite way around
I was wondering how they could all be left handed
What a legendary combination of talent.

Don’t need a drummer with Bluegrass...just the way it should be...

A friend roadied for his Russian tour
Unbelievable organized talent, Steve Martin would have been an additional talent but a perfect ensemble!

Does it get any better than this?! Alison’s violin gives me the chills😮🥰
I have been seriously addicted to not only this song, but many of the songs from the movie O' Brother where art Thou!!!!
The way she rocks that fiddle!

What a wonderful performance by Alison and her band. I'd love to see them live, but unfortunately living in the UK there's absolutely no chance.😀❤
Pure talent....and it’s obvious they are having fun together
Makes my heart happy to hear this band. I listen to them everyday.
This one of those videos that you watch and wishes it never ends.
Allison Krause And The Union Station is one of my all time fav
Dan Tyminski what a player n voice.
Masterpiece! Love his voice! Great band!
Some of the smoothest bluegrass harmonies you will ever hear.
Such a beautiful example of Americana music. Can't say enough good things about Dan and this line up.
Love the harmony, they blend so well! Love it!
Just loving the perfection.
allison amazes me with her chuffing...short sounds from her bow either going into or out of a phase......loved it....
