You NEED to listen to their arrangement of “how great thou art.” I’m not a religious person, but listening to their version of the song is a spiritual awakening
Now that you've discovered "Home Free" (fans are called Home Fries), you should really check out Ring of Fire (featuring Avi) and as a change of pace do End of the Road. Also, just for pure ear candy, have listen to Do You Hear What I Hear (earphones are a must for this one). Great reaction, thanks!!!!
I really like how she explains what she's hearing and her facial expressions to match. She's able to Express the emotions within the song very well. She also a very beautiful woman. That does help.
Dang I love this women so much and have been patiently waiting for her to get to this. From way back I could have listed a great number of things I figured she would get all giddy over but left it to everyone else. ...and everyone else did not disappoint as she has slowly made her way through many of them. This however, I just figured she'd be like a kid reacting to the ice cream truck stopping in the neighborhood. ...Especially after learning about her enjoying arranging and working on acca music. Yup just as expected, her infectious excitement even more adorable than usual. 👍
Your joyful exuberance, your giggles, the way you light up on certain parts is SO infectious! I can't help but be in a good mood after watching one of your reactions. Thank you so much for, well, just being you! It's so fun to watch your passion just ignite and blaze across the internet.
In home free they dont have a fixed lead , the guys change after who the song fits best and their beatboxer is a 2 times worldchampion with a fun and fitting nickname -- FREAK OF NATURE , people say he must have swallowed a drumkit
To be honest, i kinda "hate" that song. Peter is just ruins it for me, his voice is way tooo high/light for me to that song. But Tim.. Ohh, i wish i could hear a version where Tim singing it all along.
the first higher voice is austin from Georgia, the 2nd and the one singing dumdumdoo in overalls is Rob from Minnesota, The what you call beat boxer is Adam from Minnesota, The number 1 bass is Tim from Texas, the one doing jaw harp and if you listen very closely you hear a 2nd more smooth bass singing this is Chase in the back with vest and hat he is from Alabama
Can't wait to see this. I was one of the many recommending reacting to Home Free. They have so many brilliant tracks, many of them with surprises in singing different voices than their usual "roles". I went to one of their concerts (or parties, as they call them), here in Denmark, and got to shake their hands before they had to break off their European Tour, because of Covid-19. They are brilliant ... and even more impressive that they perform equally well live, where they add lots of fun and entertainment. Big thanks from Denmark, for reacting to this, Elizabeth :)
IF you REALLY want to hear how good this group is together, I second this one! It's probably the perfect version of How Great Thou Art...and that video!
You nailed this analysis not many people can even understand what the first sounds are but you nailed the throat singing part Adam Rupp the beatboxer confirmed that.
Tim: I have been known to blow out a couple speakers too and I make the venue shake. (Texas) Bass, 5+ octave range, I help Avi and Geoff with their bass Adam: I'm the beat boxer and "freak of nature" (Minnesota) Can be a tenor when he wants too Chance: That's not Mongolian or overtone, that's a Jaw Harp (Alabama) Bass Baritone Austin: Listen to my "voice of butter" - Shawn Stockman when they were on the Sing Off (Georgia) High Tenor Rob: I'm a cuddly teddy bear with amazing whistling and a voice (Minnesota) Tenor
Hi Elizabeth, my favourite songs are "Ring of Fire" and Elvira by Home Free, I also love Voice Play, especially their Oogie Boogie song and Moana Mix. Check them out both Home Free and Voice Play have published new songs during the crazy Covid-19 time as well. ENJOY!!!
I'd also like to second what Elaine said and point out that and point out that it was Geoff from Voiceplay that did the arrangement for Home Frees version of Elvira. Voiceplay also does a less than serious version of Elvira in their live show, where the Bass & Tenor fight over the 'Oom pa pa maw maw' part. Finally if you want to see these 2 groups together, their 'Survivor' video is great fun. Yes, they both have better songs out there, but it's fun to watch the zombies (Voiceplay) fight the hillbillies (Home Free!) Wish we could get Avi, Tim and Geoff together for a sub-woofer shattering contest...
DEAR, YOU HAVE NO IDEAL HOW GOOD THESE GUYS ARE. IF YOU REALLY LIKE THE BASS SINGER, TIM, CHECK OUT THEM DOING RING OF FIRE. THE BASS WILL BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF. HELPLESS HOPING IS A WORK OF ART.
@@hancock1475 How annoyed anyone gets is on them. What you should care about, is most people won't even read a post that is in all caps. It's the internet version of shouting in someones ear. It's considered rude.
@Jasper Van Nieuwkerke WHAT IF HIS CAPS LOCK IS STUCK! EVEN IF IT'S NOT THEN MAYBE HE JUST LIKES USING ALL CAPS! WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL THAT YOU HAVE TO COMMENT WHEN YOU COULD JUST KEEP SCROLLING!?
I only recently discovered these reactions videos and they're great. But I'm surprised that no one yet has pointed out the chorus of BULLFROGS that sound constantly throughout this super awesome video. With the popping noise he imitates another frog and various other animals exclusive to the swamps. If one has never been in the swamps they would not catch it. But this group has mastered these sounds and so perfectly use them.
When the "Home Free" fans find out you are reviewing their songs, you will see a big boost in your views. As a long time "Homefry" (Home Free fan) may I suggest that you find their performances in the "Sing Off" competition to learn their history, who the singers are and SOME of their capabilities. It would even be good to review/react to these performances. They are taped live.
THIS.... and yes I agree, please familiarize yourself with the guys and their voices before you watch MAYDAY. If you think this was awesome, Mayday will blow your mind.
Thank you for introducing me to Home Free. I always enjoy your reactions and analysis of all the groups you do. My music listening life has changed because of Home Free! Thanks
Holy moly I love your reactions. So refreshing to hear someone really break down what's happening, especially how you show how much the vocal arrangements make the performance cool. Not just people singing, but how it's blended. Finally, love how you express your enjoyment throughout. Hey, I was thinking you would do more Vocave by now. Hope they are in line and we get to see another awesome reaction soon! :D
I will be honest I am not a huge Home Free fan (my wife is), but your analysis makes me reconsider! You drew out so much I didn't notice, and made me appreciate the song so much more. Also your enthusiasm is definitely catching!
The bass was Tim Foust. I believe he has a 5 octave range. I've even seen some people say a 6 octave range, idk. If you want to check out his high end Mayday is the song you should listen to. The lead singer in the middle is Austin Brown, the guy on the left that did the fill at the end is Rob Lundquist, the beatboxer is Adam Rupp (I believe he's a 2 time world beatboxing champion) and the guy doing the "mouth harp" is Adam Chance. Most just call him Chance so as not to get the two Adams confused. Chance also covers the bass when Tim is singing lead.
You should listen to the live version of "Your Man" to get an idea of Tim's range and the live version "Honey I'm good" to hear some bass. Oh, and the live version of this song will let you hear two "harmonicas" harmonizing.
What I love about Tim is his amazing range, 5 octaves! Incredible. Video out there of him singing I can't help falling in love with you solo, sooo good!
The guy being called the "beatboxer" is doing what I know as "eefing". It's a century old musical technique, from a time and place where there was a lot of music but few instruments, so people made due
@@ringding1000 Bluegrass or "Old Time"? I suspect it predates Bill Monroe. That's one of the fun things about traditional/folk music. My thought is, it started at a time and place where instruments were scarce and the need for music was strong. It certainly worked for Bluegrass but I'm guessing it is older
The "Home Fries" have already come out in force judging by the comments so far, and I'm not going to be any different 😀 If you want to start to experience the group I recommend "Ring of fire" (featuring Avi), "End of the road", "Helplessly hoping" and "Can't stop the feeling" (oh, and the "Butts remix" is always a great intro into their funnier side)
I love watching her facial expressions and eyes!!! It's obvious she is passionate about all genres of music. I really loved her analysis of the Scorpions Still Loving You!!!
I started listening to this song randomly and I was like “wait, maybe SHE has reacted to this song” and by god you have 😂❤ yessss! Let’s finish this banger 🥰🤘🏼
Dan Kaminiski with Alison Krauss' band does a great version of this as well. She has the voice of an angel - clear as a bell, and smooth as silk. Just wonderful, this selection.
I love watching your reaction videos. Your not only spot on with your vocal analogies. You have the cutest expressions and a Great smile. You believe you will become a HomeFree HomeFry before you know it! 😝✌️
I like how you keep saying this is a deep south sound this was from the "o brother where art thou" soundtrack which was set in the south the original was a bluegrass song. By the way I recommend anyone to watch this movie is freaking hilarious.
And the movie is full of incredible bluegrass and white church choir gospel, which is based on Celtic harmonies with simpler vocals but overlaps with the better known black gospel a bit, ie some songs are sung in both traditions.
From an arrangement perspective, Home Free has a genre-defying discography that spans everything from gospel/blues to country to even some pop (not to mention, they have original pieces as well!). For some suggestions to get into their superb musicianship: - Their rendition of "How Great Thou Art" is a masterwork of four- and five-part harmonies. Seriously. If you only listen to one other song they've done, this is the one to take in. - "Helplessly Hoping" is short (too short!), but the minimalist styling shows of their layering very well - "Go Rest High On That Mountain" (the official video version, not the Church Sessions) for more of that bass foundation you like... from unexpected places - "Mayday" shows off Tim's range, but like most Home Fries I think you should hold off on that one until you're better-familiar with each members' range/talents. - "Ring of Fire" is their most popular video, and for good reason. Aside from the Tim/Avi matchup, it is also the song they sang on "The Sing Off" that really set them apart for the first time. There is SO MUCH to take in with Home Free that it's impossible to really give a summarized list of songs you "must" check out. You'll find something that tickles your ear in every song, whether its an inverted chord, or an unexpected key/time signature change, or a goosebump-inducing chord resolution after several bars of dissonance build!
I like Home Free's inventiveness - and this is the best of all their material I've heard. I actually learn so much from you!!! Your musical knowledge is encyclopedic. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to hear you sing!

Going to see these guys next month. So excited
You NEED to listen to their arrangement of “how great thou art.” I’m not a religious person, but listening to their version of the song is a spiritual awakening
I swear i can hear an organ at the end.
Love Home Free! You'll be happily hooked if you go down that rabbit hole!
Yes! I just said the same thing about Do You Hear What I Hear. Sweet mother of pearl, I could listen to that song every day.
I really like how she explains what she's hearing and her facial expressions to match. She's able to Express the emotions within the song very well. She also a very beautiful woman. That does help.
She is my favorite "voice coach reactors" on TH-cam.
Tim Foust is the bass and he has at least a 5-octave range. He's awesome!
I love listening to people talk about what they’re passionate about. You make me appreciate music on another level.
Ditto!!😁
Your joyful exuberance, your giggles, the way you light up on certain parts is SO infectious! I can't help but be in a good mood after watching one of your reactions. Thank you so much for, well, just being you! It's so fun to watch your passion just ignite and blaze across the internet.
In home free they dont have a fixed lead , the guys change after who the song fits best and their beatboxer is a 2 times worldchampion with a fun and fitting nickname -- FREAK OF NATURE , people say he must have swallowed a drumkit
She should also react to misty mountains with peter Hollens featuring Tim. That would be amazing!!
I came to the comments to suggest this
@@emilyleasure8683 Same
Yup. So many good songs they’ve covered with absolute aplomb
I wanted to say this too! Hope she does!
To be honest, i kinda "hate" that song. Peter is just ruins it for me, his voice is way tooo high/light for me to that song. But Tim.. Ohh, i wish i could hear a version where Tim singing it all along.
Tim Foust and Peter Holland’s duet of misty mountains Tim goes full dragon breath
And then their collaboration on the cover of Bridge Over Trouble Waters, the high tenors will blow your mind.
came here to say that 3 ys later. Peter Hollens omg he’s mind blowing. Deserves some reactions I think 💜
Love this
the first higher voice is austin from Georgia, the 2nd and the one singing dumdumdoo in overalls is Rob from Minnesota, The what you call beat boxer is Adam from Minnesota, The number 1 bass is Tim from Texas, the one doing jaw harp and if you listen very closely you hear a 2nd more smooth bass singing this is Chase in the back with vest and hat he is from Alabama
they all can sing tenor and beatbox Tim has a 5-octave range and can hit subharmonic notes chance is the baritone
It's funny to see her with the same reaction we all have the first time we hear these guys ... our mouth hangs open.
For some truly amazing harmonies, check Home Free's How Great Thou Art
IF you REALLY want to hear how good this group is together, I second this one! It's probably the perfect version of How Great Thou Art...and that video!
You nailed this analysis not many people can even understand what the first sounds are but you nailed the throat singing part Adam Rupp the beatboxer confirmed that.
Home Free is the best group I've heard in a long time. Your reaction to hearing them was amazing! It made listening to them even better!
Tim: I have been known to blow out a couple speakers too and I make the venue shake. (Texas) Bass, 5+ octave range, I help Avi and Geoff with their bass
Adam: I'm the beat boxer and "freak of nature" (Minnesota) Can be a tenor when he wants too
Chance: That's not Mongolian or overtone, that's a Jaw Harp (Alabama) Bass Baritone
Austin: Listen to my "voice of butter" - Shawn Stockman when they were on the Sing Off (Georgia) High Tenor
Rob: I'm a cuddly teddy bear with amazing whistling and a voice (Minnesota) Tenor
Adorable descriptions of each of these guys LoL
Hi Elizabeth, my favourite songs are "Ring of Fire" and Elvira by Home Free, I also love Voice Play, especially their Oogie Boogie song and Moana Mix. Check them out both Home Free and Voice Play have published new songs during the crazy Covid-19 time as well. ENJOY!!!
I definitely second all these suggestions.
The new version of All About the Bass is hilarious.
I've heard thst song 10000 times, in 100 different ways...and these folks are still SO Original! sorrow, yes....
"He has SUCH a low voice!" Now go listen to their cover of Mayday and have your mind blown.
I think people need to listen to a few songs first then Mayday is really mind blowing
@@Amanda-uc5jq Agree completely! Mayday is going to be SO much more impressive once she learns their names and is familiar with the voices.
Is that where Adam does a drum solo? It's freaking wild
@@alicerobertson15 No. But I won't explain more because . . . spoilers.
Agreed. But in MAYDAY, Chance is the Bass. Tim shows his High Notes in that video.
Oh YESSS! Gotta love Home Free, please do more of them, there's so much more good stuff they've done worth checking!
This is great, but you should hear them with The Oak Ridge Boys singing "Elvira" is you like the bass section. They nail it!!!
3 years later and this is still the best react video of this song I have seen! I usually watch this whenever I want to hear the song again.
I seriously love how excited you get. Im glad I found you as a reactor.
DEAR, YOU HAVE NO IDEAL HOW GOOD THESE GUYS ARE. IF YOU REALLY LIKE THE BASS SINGER, TIM, CHECK OUT THEM DOING RING OF FIRE. THE BASS WILL BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF. HELPLESS HOPING IS A WORK OF ART.
Yes Helplessly Hoping is ear candy!
I like to tell people to watch the video for Mayday after all the ones that you have listed.
Well you have a small catalogue of home free ones to see they're incredible...
I'm glad that I stayed to listen to this song. Wonderful Acapella. They harmonize well together and each has his own voice or instrument as you said.
This reaction is rly honest. i feel every laugh and the enjoyment for music she has. pair that with the smile and it makes me smile instandly.
God, her excitement and passion is so cute.
Woooooowwwww thank you girl!!!This channel is now reacting to my two favorite things in TH-cam Dimash and Homefree
P.S. Pleeease dont listen to -- Mayday , untill you know their names and have a basic feel for each members voice
I second that
Agreed
Elizabeth, it will blow your mind after you've become acquainted with "who does what" in Home Free. Mayday, has two "WTH" moments. Stay tuned. haha.
@@oneknight55 truth...
THIS.... and yes I agree, please familiarize yourself with the guys and their voices before you watch MAYDAY. If you think this was awesome, Mayday will blow your mind.
Check out Home Free "End of the Road" and "Can't Stop The Feeling"
Oh, she's not READY for end of the road..... And she needs to avoid "Mayday" at least until she can process Tim's NORMAL bass range. 😉
Thank you Gray Wade. I really enjoyed making this reaction video!
I will be honest I am not a huge Home Free fan (my wife is), but your analysis makes me reconsider! You drew out so much I didn't notice, and made me appreciate the song so much more. Also your enthusiasm is definitely catching!
“Their rhythm section, who is a person and not a rhythm section”
But also a rhythm section...
Being a true bass, Tim Foust is a MASSIVE idol. His lows are absolutely ground-shaking!
When he goes realy low you can feel the vibrations in you chest.
Actually he also can sing high!
First time listeners are the best, when it comes to Home Free, the "Holy Shit" face is priceless. No instruments were harmed during this recording😆
Watching her reaction is as satisfying when I have a cup of Costa Rican coffee in the early morning summer mist.
I love your reaction when Tim hit the lower notes after his solo section. Yes, he does have such a low voice!
Listen to the "Far over the Misty Mountains Cold" song for some true low notes by Tim Foust & Peter Hollens. Enjoy!
This. Tim Foust is Home Frees base and he really let's it rumble in this song
Yes a cool choice.
Peter Hollens is one of my favorite artists!
This. Tim's final note destroys.
Also the "Oogie Boogie Song" by VoicePlay for some subharmonics by Geoff Castellucci.
The guy being called the "beatboxer" is doing what I know as "eefing". It's a century old musical technique, from a time and place where there was a lot of music but few instruments, so people made due
Neat. Never heard of that. I'll have to look up how to do that.
Just an FYI, the phrase is "make do."
@@whiterabbit75 Good to know. And to think, I've been making do, with "making due" all these years. Thanks
@@datcolsol You're welcome. XD
Eefin' and ahhin' is a legit Bluegrass technique for sure.
"He has such a low voice" I really want you to hear Misty Mountains with Peter Hollens and Tim Foust.
THISSSSSSS
Yess
You'll be really happy she made a video about that a few days ago :P
@@Goscalyon I saw it. It was great
Tim Foust is the guy in home free
"Blue Ain't Your Color" is a very nice arrangement by Home Free.
I love watching her facial expressions and eyes!!! It's obvious she is passionate about all genres of music.
I really loved her analysis of the Scorpions Still Loving You!!!
"he's just hanging around below the music staff for fun"
I started listening to this song randomly and I was like “wait, maybe SHE has reacted to this song” and by god you have 😂❤ yessss! Let’s finish this banger 🥰🤘🏼
Her facial reactions when she's in profile remind me of a Disney Princess.
“That guy has such a low voice”
Heh, you have no idea. And that’s not even his final form 😎
Just tell her O Brother Where Art Thou stars George Clooney!
That bass voice is like warm honey in my ears....
Like dark chocolate.
The bass singer is Tim Faust, and he has a mind blowing 6 octave vocal range. He also helped Avi with his low range skills.
his ability to make it sound like a harmonica is cool
From an arrangement perspective, Home Free has a genre-defying discography that spans everything from gospel/blues to country to even some pop (not to mention, they have original pieces as well!). For some suggestions to get into their superb musicianship:
- Their rendition of "How Great Thou Art" is a masterwork of four- and five-part harmonies. Seriously. If you only listen to one other song they've done, this is the one to take in.
- "Helplessly Hoping" is short (too short!), but the minimalist styling shows of their layering very well
- "Go Rest High On That Mountain" (the official video version, not the Church Sessions) for more of that bass foundation you like... from unexpected places
- "Mayday" shows off Tim's range, but like most Home Fries I think you should hold off on that one until you're better-familiar with each members' range/talents.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I like Home Free's inventiveness - and this is the best of all their material I've heard. I actually learn so much from you!!! Your musical knowledge is encyclopedic. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to hear you sing!
Home Free, Voice Play, Voctive, Pentatonix and Straight No Chaser...all great acapella groups
Voice Play also has a phenomenal basso Goeff Castalucci.
100%...Straight No Chaser needs to get more love on TH-cam !
@@miamidolphinsfan One Christmas season, she should look at their (hilarious) "12 Days of Christmas!"
The cover of “End of the Road” is a great “crossover” song. Their covers of “Mayday” and “In the Blood” are also great! Bon apetit!
Glad you're checking them out their bass singer is just a subwoofer just give their cover of ring of fire ft.Avi Kaplan a listen. you should also checkout voiceplay , try daddy sang bass, boyband in 5 minutes or oogie boogie man.
oooh!! yes to all of these!
