About 25 years ago a good friend, who was a huge John Denver fan, died from melanoma from exposure in the Marine Corps. Back last year when you had folks video them doing your walk to this music....my 80 year old Ma did it, we were going to send it in, but she passed away less than 3 weeks later. She LOVED you guys and your music, she really liked it towards the end, we even played the albums over and over for her. She went to meet her maker with your music accompanying her. Absolutely love this song. Just the bloke using his cello as a base guitar is awesome, but the understated overall badassery of the lyrics, the switching between singer with such different styles and the fact that these guys seem to have so much pure fun with the music just brings it home.

Banjo & bass? 2 years after you wrote this, now all you hear is BnB, everywhere. Well, they still play trap, too. That's been around for 25 years and counting. I'm alarmed at the popularity of banjo, though. The bagpipers will want to be next. They're already discussing hybrid bagpipaccordions. Like a musette that sounds like bagpipes. Then when you bring in the banjo, they hardly even notice. That's why I'm surprised this song started with the bass and then BOOM - banjo. But it works, even though the costumes and band name seem to straddle the line between homage and parody. It's a hella catchy song, irregardless

Just saw them yesterday in Harmony, Maine. Tiny show, but the best I've ever been to. The energy was phenomenal. Afterwards, they joined us at the fire and jammed with the fans. Just amazing. Nothing but love

I had a cockatiel that one time the Andy Griffith show came on and the bird whistled along with it perfectly. Must have heard it before. It did it again when the show was ending and it was back to back shows and the bird whistled along again at the start. Never could get the bird to whistle it again. Played it several times and it didn't react at all.
