That sucks but life happens to the unlucky few.
Two things I'd immediately install in this car is VCM muzzler and idlestopper (or keep turning it off before you drive). Both technologies are asinine.
As for warranty voidance, I'd never take to the dealer, their fees are exorbitant; plenty of competent shops can service it for half the cost.

I would only go to the dealer for warranty work. Otherwise, avoid the dealers like the plague.

You get wat you pay for at some shops doe. And not always use “oem” quality parts. Not saying straight from honda but same quality. I work at a honda dealer and always get vehicles that come from other mom and pop shops in not so good shape. But im sure their is some good shops just make sure you do the research. Good luck.
Also i do own a 23 pilot and haven’t had any issues 🙏🏻. Im one of the lucky ones i guess lol

oh no, I bought a 2023 Pilot Trailsport last May 2023, only 5k miles on it so far, I'm really hoping I don't these same issues.

My Pilot Trailsport starter and relay had to be replaced at 1200 miles. Vehicle died in middle of the road. All issues point to the idle start/stop. It’s horrible and i always drive with it off in Normal drive mold.

I just got a brand new 2024 Touring a month ago, only have 800miles now, while no engine problems have already experienced a few glitches like no sound out of the stereo one day, powering off and on the radio didn’t help, had to pull over turn the car off, waited about 20-30sec then restarted and stereo was working again. Another instance, the car wouldn’t open even though I had the key fob in my hand. Car wouldn’t unlock even hitting button on the fob or putting my hand and trying to open the driver handle. After several attempts and pressing various buttons on the key fob it was working again. Those two incidents only happened once each and has not happened again since. Other thing that does annoy me is when you start driving and engine and everything is still cold, seems like the transmission shifts weird until it warms up, seems like it shifts through 4-5 gears even before I get to 25mph, but then once it’s warmed up it shifts normally. I don’t know if everyone experiences that or not, but that happens every time unless I’ve remote started it and let it warm up already. So far those are the only things I’ve experienced so far in the one month I’ve had it with only 800mi. 😮

Transmission oil needs to heat up to be efficient. I experience that sometimes in winter in my Toyota

I'm getting my 2023 pilot Sport in a couple weeks, this is my only worry with this vehicle since it's a new engine. I know Honda is really good with engines hopefully it was just a defect and you have no issues down the line.

Same thing happened to my wife. At that point I realized that there was no coming back from that and the car will never run the same. I disconnected the battery for 24 hours which reset the computer. I then traded the car in Immediately.

Sorry about this. Horrible. I put a deposit down on a new pilot - I will be getting an odyssey with the old vtech sohc instead.

Odyssey has VCM also. It’s just an unfortunate situation that hopefully none of us J35 owners will experience.

Sad but expected from incredibly reliable cars now built in America...not so reliable anymore...how in God's name do you make a car that has NO part availability???? makes no sense but then again, you see where it's made..they are scrambling and calling NOT japan but china and Mexico for cheap parts to fix your car..that's a bad sign.. 2 months and sorry no parts...They better give you a free car to drive...I hope they resolved your issue and not just put a bandaid on it and shucked over to you...Japan is laughing all the way to the bank with the billions USA pays them to carry that reliable name...Then again Japan must be thinking they are also destroying our reliable name, is it worth giving these imbeciles our technology, blueprints, and allowing them to produce our cars with all Chinese and Mexican parts to make a profit 📈...
same shit happened with my 2008 tundra ...thank Goodness this year wasn't so bad and I was able to fix the water pump issue myself.. The dealership couldn't even do it...26k my water pump failed??? I took it to toyota under warranty and 5k miles after it failed again???? So I took it apart and found the issue myself...cheap knock off aisin water pump made in China. NOT JAPAN!!!! with a paper thin plastic gasket instead of rubber...I used honda bond and they told me I voided my warranty...I said I Don't need a warranty from idiots who claim I should never change trans fluid or oil changes every 10k or 20k miles...be aware Honda and Toyotas are no longer Japanese reliability cars...still better than the alternatives but not even close to before...you must do your homework..

I’ve been trolled before for criticizing the VCM system in the Honda V6’s. Honda just needs to get rid of it! Good luck on your next vehicle search.

You can get a vcmtuner for 100 bucks to disable it.

  • @YourLocalFireAlarmTech

this makes me worried because I want to get a Pilot rather soon.. and I chose it because of a NA V6 which is usually a reliable option, especially being a Honda, for longevity over turbo 4 Cylinders that Toyota is going for... Oh man. Not cool. They should've kept the Vtec Engine. But also Cylinder deactivation?? Those have to be horrible for engines. Uneven ware and tear for an engine and more parts and software to worry about. I'd probably find a way to deactivate that feature for good. Also might find one with a matching vin to say it was made in Japan.

@@Mee35746 I'll let you know right now, I got the Pilot Trailsport. Absolutely love it man. NA 3.5 V6, nice shaped Boxy style SUV, great interior, and all the safety features you could want. So far I got 3K on it within a month, no complaints from me. Super smooth ride and drive train. Take a test drive in both and see which one you like!

we are waiting till the end of the year to start looking for a deal on a 2024 EXL. first thing to do is vcm muzzler and idlestopper. it's a shame you have to modify a brand new car.

Things happen and I don't doubt the OP, but remember that the small percentage of people who unfortunately experience issues get the loudest voice on social media. Many more thousands of people are happily driving their new gen Pilots without any problems and not taking time out of their day to post about that.
As for VCM, I do have some concerns but we never had a single issue on our 2015 Pilot that we traded in at 130K for the new '24 model. No oil consumption or failed engine mounts as was wildly warned about on the interwebs. I'd prefer no VCM system, but on the other hand I'm not losing any sleep over it either.

So whats the problem? You bought a NEW vehicle, and it has bugs, its to be expected with a newly engineered vehicle. At least you have something to put wear and tear on while they figure out whats wrong with your vehicle that is literally not getting more miles on.

    • @MrRjsnowden
      @MrRjsnowden ปีที่แล้ว +4

I don't get comments Ike this. It's expected to have bugs in a new vehicle??? It's comments like this that give cover to these car companies. I mean how much is really that different in this car the engine is from an MDX. The 10 speed has been in the Odessy since 2017. The safety tech and infotainment are all tested in other cars??? 40 +K for car there should be some expectation of quality especially from Honda....
