I can't express how glad I am that I retired after 35+ yrs. as a Honda tech. It was a decent living when I started on Hondas in '81, the warranty repairs were greatly offset by decent flat rate pay and times. Over the years the techs were pick pocketed by lower flat rate times and extended warranty coverage. It's no wonder there is a shortage of capable techs these days! How can people afford to stay in the business these days working for peanuts?
Going through this now. Waiting to hear back from the dealer. I can't imagine that replacing the rod bearings will fix the issue on its own. What about all the material from the failing bearings that went throght the motor?
My 2017 with only 80k miles the rod bearings went out. It’s a known issue and there’s a recall on 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020. Not the 2017. I will never buy another Honda again they are trash!!! This is proof!!
I had a revised short block installed onto my 2019 TLX back in Jan.. guess what? metal in my engine oil... its failing again.
Very informative video. For future videos, just check your sound levels on your mic, 🎤 a bit distorted.
You’re absolutely right my friend…will do

Preaching to the choir my friend….I couldn’t say it any better. You’re absolutely right
The J35 is a rock solid motor and has been so for well over 20 years. What the heck did they manage to revise on it to create such carnage as this.
At the beginning of the video he said it was a 2007 Pilot. But, then he said 2019 Pilot. Were there two with the same issue?
When u do all of that work as a consumer should I replace the starter, water pump and trimming belt?
Yes absolutely…not the starter though unless you really want to
@@Gasdieselgarage how can I tell if I have that issue. I own a 2019 Honda pilot
New gaskets?
Yes everything from the short block on up gets new gaskets
Great in depth video
Does the odometer go back to 0?
No unfortunately
Great video GDG
Great video big dog

Others are saying it's not the bearings, its the crankshaft journals that are causing the problems.
What symptoms was the customer having when they came back 2 days later?
Ground control I can’t understand you with the Audio
Sounds like a lawsuit 😂
The assembly line must have been smoking crack.
Damn dude I feel for you

Did you run out of oil? & Did they replace the engine for you?
My 2015 MDX has the same issue waiting on Honda SMH!
Was this engine American built or Japan built? 😂
The guy who built the engine wasn’t the issue.
That looks like a pain in the but
