    I’ve seen factory paint jobs on new cars with more ‘orangepeel’ then your rustoleum job. Fantastic work!!

      Thank you. Are you getting any work done on the s10 this weekend? I just welded closed the holes in the s10 cab floor and started the sound deading. Next up gotta weld new exhaust pieces to meet up with the new headers. It will be nice backing this out of the garage without going deaf. Good times😁

      @@thisoldhooptie yes I am. I have to travel sometimes for work and the next few weeks I am on the road so I only get the weekends to work. Slow progress. I am currently cleaning frame and getting it ready for paint. I hope to get a video out next weekend. I am catching up on your videos….man you got a lot of good content! Keep it coming!!

    Gotta say that im impressed with how much paint that thing spits out! Looks like you had almost complete coverage in the first coat!

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just about. If I shrunk the fan and did tighter passes i would have nailed it in one coat. Didn't want to go to thick though. My mix is on the thicker side to start with.

    Wetting down the floor prior to spraying helps mitigate dust as well.

    What is the ratio of hardener? You can't just add 2 oz to any amount of paint and thinner..

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, thats the amount I needed for my mix. The ratio on the bottle calls for 1 can or 8oz of the catalyst per gallon of paint.

    Im confused... Im trying to follow the progress on the purple sparkle over black rustoleum truck, and Im getting lost. Is this the same truck? If so, what happened to the purple flake?

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a mistake when painting only half the truck with the flake. Needed to be done together so it matched. I could not get it to match since I did not properly measure the amount of flake. The down side of learning as you go. I wanted it all one color for a bit so redid the black base and will be re painting the truck as a whole with the purple flake as soon as the s10 is out of my garage. It will be completed this year.

    Came out good dude. I thought about buying the fuji semi pro 2 but went the compressor and paint gun route. Hope i dont regret that decision. The fuji seems like it would have been a better choice for a hobbyist like me.

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks bro. Compressors do have a lot to offer. I will need one too at some point. I want a plasma cutter, and some other air only tools. The low over spray and not dealing with water in the lines for paint work is a huge plus on the turbine side. Everything has some positive and some negative. 👍

    Hey man I think the truck looks a amazing, just got a quick question. Not sure if you would know but would the rust oleum be able to be sprayed on over duplicolor lacquer primer? Thanks!

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 👍
      Simple answer is Yes it should stick fine. You may want to spray a small test piece to get your dry times down so it doesn't crackle up. You can also let completely cure then sand and spray. I sprayed duplicolor black then rustolium color shift on my dash then cleared it. Looks like the day I painted it a couple years ago. The dash is in my truck playlist.

    Are you measuring your parts in cups or ounces? What is the unit of measurement for the parts.

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a standard paint mix cup which has the lines on the side for cups and oz. They can be picked up from amazon, any paint store, lowes, or home depot. You use cups for the paint and oz for the catalyst. The exact measurements I used are in the videos and the descriptions. Good luck with your project 👍

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the description of the video i have all the 3m pps 2.0 system parts needed. Its the adaptor up top, then you need the version 2.0 cups i got one large and one small. The large can fit a large or medium liner. Also get a ser of check valves you will need to swap that a some point.
