Looks like fun guys!! Thank you for more great content. How hard is it to rewire the engine, and get everything to work properly. The electrical is the intimidating part of all of these builds.
That's why a lot of the time we go ahead and just replace the entire harness. We'll make sure to show y'all how we plan on tackling that part of this build!

There are so many trucks we could buy without running motors that we can drop an LS in. This thing has the 454 stickers on the bed, so we wanted to keep that 454 under the hood!
Cool build. The static compression ratio is more like 8:1...Im already making excuses for the next dyno pull. lol. I like that you took the heads off the smart way and left all the rockers you could tight so the valve springs will lift the heads off for you.
Good call on pulling the engine. You were 80% of the way there anyway. I've used a lot of Edelbrock components over the years for daily drivers. Always been impressed with what they have. My only advice for you guys, please do something with that rear diff. They have a tendency to dismantle themselves. That should make a good shop truck. Can't wait to see what kind of numbers you get on the dyno. Very good guys.

youre supposed to tighten the rocker arm down slowly as you rotate the pushrod and stop when you begin to feel resistance on the pushrod. and do it to ever cylinder 90 degrees from tdc for that piston
That is a great project for the shop truck! I’m putting a QA-1 front suspension on the 68’ charger I’m rebuilding currently. Can’t wait to see the finished deal. Taking the front clip off is the way to go, the amount of time it takes more than makes up for being able to do all this work error free with the room to do it. 👍 What’s your guess on the HP add? 93k miles is nothing for that lower end.
We're pretty excited about the QA1 set up we got for this truck! We're pretty hopeful we'll get close to the projected numbers. 550 crank should make around 450 wheel roughly! We'll see though!

A quick question I'm not too familiar with that specific OBS but I know a decent amount about OBS trucks and have one myself. Just don’t know too much about that model do those rims cub stock with it or no they just look nice and I’m curious.
A lot of the stuff was either lubed or coated with sealant off camera! We try to balance the work aspect and the filming aspect as much as possible, and sometimes that means not every step gets shown!
I always forget just how bad things were with engines being strangled in the 80s and 90s until you see 454 cubes not even making 200 at the wheel. A K&N, a cat-back and a little tweak to the ECU and I'm putting down 200 at the wheel from a Civic Si.
You shouldve put that motor and trans on a pallet.A little crazy taking it down that far and not doing the shortblock to handle 500horse.Just some thoughts from eyes outside on the sidewalk. 🙂
not an experience engine builder by all means, but I am confused about how you are getting 9.5:1CR. I just finished my 85 block 454. stock deck(.020 below deck), true flat top pistons(looks like those had a little center dish. and a metal .020 compressed head gasket. 115cc combustion chamber. that calculation only gets me to 8.6:1. mild cam, engine runs great, fun and reliable feeling. would like to dyno it, but we will see.
