She's level 100, but I made her focus more on collecting ribbons from contests and winning in battle towers as well as rare ribbons that you pretty much have to buy from Pokemon Diamond. My favorite part of this is that Pokemon Home stated that Colossus the Tyranitar came from "a distant land", which I believe is a unique catch location name exclusive to the Gamecube Pokemon games.
what it means when a pokemon is from a distant land is that it can't show where it's from, the reason it says that for pokemon sun and moon is because a pokemon got traded from pokemon ultra sun and ultra moon that got caught in a location that does not exist in pokemon sun and moon. the reason it says that for him, i can only speculate it got lost somewhere along the long journey as i believe pokemon home can show any location
I still have my first starter and every team I've had since 2006. That's crazy. My first starter is 14 years old and is still compatible with the newest game. I gotta commend gamefreak for making it possible over all these gens.
meowmasterL346 paywall? Like Pokémon home? It’s not a new thing, it’s just presented differently. Sure; you have to pay for Pokémon home and bank, but back in the day you also had to pay to link cables and sometimes multiple gameboys or DSs if you didn’t have a friend you could borrow theirs from. Game freak has always been finding creative ways to make money, whether through having 2 main games per Gen with game exclusives, then a 3rd game (yellow, platinum, emerald, crystal), then remakes (fire red/leaf green, heart gold/soul silver, omega ruby/alpha sapphire), and then sequels (black and white two, ultra sun/moon), and now the dlc (armour isle). It’s nothing new and Pokémon fans eat it uo

@@xionkuriyama5697 Homebrewed 3DS all the way every day. The biggest issue by far is HGSS, since you need 2 DSes to transfer Pokemon up to BW. Everyone but HGSS can be do with a single homebrewed 3DS, only requiring BW or BW2 (obvious non-homebrewed is preferred, but BW and BW2 carts are insane). Everything but HGSS and BW2 means you can run it on any lebit 3DS + Switch combo at MSRP due to the eshops
I think the Pal Park limit is gone in HGSS. With DPPt there is a 24 hour "cooldown" for every 6 Pokemon you transfer, and will also not let you transfer if the clock is not synchronized until 24 hours later. With HGSS, I think the Kanto Safari Zone is used as the Pal Park in those games if I remember correctly, and you have unlimited number of transfers as long as you always transfer 6 Pokemon every time.
You're correct, HGSS has no such limit to Pal Park. When I was evacuating my older games in preparation for Bank's eventual shutdown (still hasn't happened yet, but we got no clue how much longer we actually got), I used HeartGold to move stuff up from Gen 3 for exactly this reason.
Idk I liked the Pal Park and that while they're both a pain it was an entertaining way to get them especially back as a bored kid lol. It took like 10 min compared to all the new games but the mini games were fun.
Even when I only want to transfer 1 Pokémon from Gen 4 to Gen 5, I still have to temporarily fill up all six spots, just to transfer the 1 that I want to transfer.
As a guy who recently transferred almost 4 Boxes of pokemon from Leaf green I WAY prefer 4-5 over 3-4 because it’s fast and in gauging while 3-4 took me a long day (with breaks because it’s boring).

@@TheRibottoStudios When the 3DS online services go offline, it will take everything like that with it. But I am sure they might make a special exception for Pokemon allowing Bank to be the only online thing that works on the 3DS. So it doesn't cut off years worth of games. Of course they could have a future console with backwards compatibility with 3DS/DS games (either built in or with some kind of adapter) allowing you to trade old Pokemon up to 3DS games then using HOME on that newer system to take them from the 3DS/DS carts to HOME. (or they could just have eShop virtual console versions, would require buying all the games again so probably not) But I think they will work out something to keep it going. The switch isn't a 3DS successor it's their current home console that can be portable. If they ever return to their portable line and make the next one that could indeed work with DS/3DS. If not Switch 2 could work with them if they wanted. They would probably be handheld mode only for touchscreen (though even docked 3DS/DS games could work, since you would use the control stick to move a pointer around the touch panel or use buttons)
@@06dogb if they made a switch that could play ds/3ds games I would want them to have an option to use a phone as the bottom screen just so you could record both screens without console modding

I still have the Espeon and Umbreon you get from Coliseum and a bunch of Pokemon from Ruby / Fire Red. I hope they keep transferring alive as the series progresses because they just mean so much to me.
It's still crazy to me how I can bring over a pokemon that I used years ago when I was was like 4 years old. Its weird that I have such a strong connection with a digital creature and I actually might cry tears of joy from all the nostalgia lol.
I know this is an old comment and all, but I recently transferred my first EV trained team back from HGSS and I found an old, old Arcanine I named after a dog that's no longer of this world.
I have that same connection that you speak of with my Toys R Us Arceus, which I got from a friend who managed to get one on five separate copies of the game and gave one to me and 3 of my other friends who also played pokemon. I was devastated when I action replayed my copy of Pokemon Black to a hell state where it would lock up when trying to load a new route, trapping my dear Fence Llama in that cart forever. I then found out at the tail end of Gen 7 that I could open the menu before the game locked up, and from there, I used fly to go to Opelucid and put in every mon I had in my party, including my Arceus, into box 1 to be sent to poke transporter. Now it lives in Pokemon Home, where because of Dexit, I can't fucking use it until Ninty adds Pokemon home support to BDSP, where I'm gonna use it to take down the elite 4 and beat the game. I've done everything up until the final rival fight, but I refuse to go a single step further without my Arceus by my side.

The only thing that stops pokemon from original red and blue to sword and shield are incompatible attacks, You trade from red/blue all the way up to Emerald (which is one of the reasons why it costs so much on a cart), with Emerald in the bottom slot of a DS/DS Lite you "Migrate" from Emerald to Diamond and Pearl, then from D&P to B&W then B&W to X&Y, X&Y to Sun & Moon then you drop them into Pokemon Home and transfer them to S&S. And if you made it that far, Congratulations! If not, your Pokemon has a Defunct Move in it's attacks list that it's not supposed to know in Sword & Shield or any of the games across the timeline. also, this is all Forward transferring, you cannot put your pokemon from Red & Blue alllllll the way back to those cartridges. Defunct Move Example: Yellow pikachu cannot go farther than Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald if it knows Fly or Surf because pikachu CANNOT and IS NOT coded to learn those moves from a TM.
...first off, it's not possible to move stuff from Gens 1 or 2 into 3. Not legitimately, anyway. Second, that's not why your Flying, Surfing Pikachu isn't being let through. It's not being let through because those are HM moves and Pal Park forbids Pokémon that know those, regardless of whether they actually came from an HM or not.
@@MoStLy1aWaKE Then they should change that. They have so many good opportunities to expand the lore of the Pokemon world with these ideas and instead they get put on the chopping block and the pokemon just become novelties. Makes sense. Larvitar are stated to eat an entire mountain before evolving so that's gotta commonly translate to Tyranitar moms losing their favorite rock piles to children looking for snacks.
Another cool colosseum/XD ribbon note! Pokemon that complete 100 battles in a row on Mt. Battle are awarded the Earth Ribbon. In gen 8 games, this gives them the title “the Living Legend”!
Actually, it gives the title "the 100x Victorious". "the Living Legend" comes from the Ribbon your team gets when you beat Red in HGSS. Both are still awesome! Actually have both RIbbons on my Wynaut and my Swampert. :)

@@yobobby9 You can technically still get them with the 'distribution cartridges' that you can buy online. They are supposedly the cartridges that were used by Gamestop/GAME employees at the events to distribute the Pokemon. Whether you feel it's legitimate is up to you.
Truly the most impressive part is the fact that you still have every adapter and system needed. I have all the games needed for this process, but no old DS or GameCube/GBA adapter
I did this with every single Pokémon I purified in my old Colosseum and XD games from years ago. It took a while. And now I've wonder traded most of them away on Gen VII... I hope people appreciate how far they came.
This is fun and nostalgic! I remember doing this a few years back to transfer that Pokémon Colosseum Jirachi as well as some other pokemon into X and Y (the most recent games at the time.) It's hilarious the kind of hoops they used to make you go through to transfer pokemon!
The oldest Pokémon that I have transferred up through the ages are the legendary dogs from the zoroark movie giveaway. They're not really unique or anything, but it's crazy to think how far they've traveled.
@@aetherbolt94 Colosseum takes place sometime before XD Gale of Darkness so it kinda gives you more info about the lore of Team Snagem, the Cipher Syndicate, and the Snag Machine.

I love this. I did this with my shiny legendary birds and Mewtwo that I shiny hunted years prior from Fire Red and Leaf Green. Plus a shiny Gengar, Dragonite and Scyther.
I'm still watching this despite knowing how this works and having Pokemon from Colosseum on Sword. My Tyranitar that I use on my comp team is from XD, with the OT being DUKING.
Fun fact about the bonus disc jirachi: Just like in the actual games, there is a small chance that the gift jirachi came show up as a shiny! Unfortunately, when pokemon bank came out, there was a glitch that didnt allow you to transfer it into the bank because the app will think that it's illegitimate. I'm not sure if the bug has been long fixed but it was too late for my jirachi.....
thats because the bonus disc jirachi was supposed to be shiny locked but they fucked it up and because of that any shinies are deemed illegitimate despite being legit
Gamefreak eventually released some event download shiny Jirachi for xyoras which I believe made it possible to transfer gen 3 shiny Jirachi when they released it. Since they stopped flagging shiny Jirachi as illegal.
The "The Triumphant" ribbon thing was one of the coolest things ever! I love it that Game Freak lets your Pokemon to keep your ribbons from older games!
I genuinely had no idea that the effectiveness of purification techniques changed based on the nature of a pokemon in Col/XD. this has blown my mind this night.
That's pretty awesome. I lost my original Gen 3 copies long ago to unknown events. Sapphire was my first game. Wish I could get my Blaziken back. Lost the most important Pokemon to me and I can never get it back. Can only make imitations nicknamed in honor of him. :/ I'm planning on starting each generation of Pokemon from the beginning, choosing Pokemon to catch, what abilities I want them to have and then keeping them forever. Even if I can't or won't transfer them forward. I think I should also train a seventh on the side and use them for a runner-up match against the champion of each region and bring *those* forward, though. They can be a piece of every game I can take forward and build into a new team for each generation to beat every regional champion.
Michael, I hope you keep doing what you doing!! You are my favorite Pokétuber ever, and whenever you make new content, I'm always excited to watch it, and always enjoy it!! Keep doing what you do, because you're the best at it!! Let's get you to 10 mil!!
It would be interesting to try getting as many ribbons and Unique/unlearnable moves from past games onto a Pokemon as posible before it gets to Sword/Shield
With Nintendo's 'reputation' with getting games to talk to eachother (and anything that isn't shared-screen multiplayer), the fact that this method actually works at all is nothing short of miraculous
its because game freak never wants anyone to lose all their pokemon permanently. Even with home, if your payments lapse, you still have your pokemon, and can take them out, you just can't put anymore than 30 in or transfer up through the generations. Only exception is bank because bank is purely server based while home is partially server partially local.
I actually just traded that Jirachi to SwSh. It was a great feeling to take my little buddy that I've had forever and make him into a competitive beast. Also back in the day I was a Jirachi dealer in school sold them for 5 dollars a pop. It was a good time that's for sure.
You could also transfer Jirachi from Pokémon Channel which, honestly, is such an underappreciated gem. IIRC it's the same travel distance since Channel also was a Gamecube title.

XD. I did the same. I transferred a shiny absol I caught in Pokémon coliseum. All the way up . Only weird thing is Pokémon home considers it an event. So It’s trade locked 😅.
Wait, wait, wait, you have a Legitimate Shiny Shadow Pokemon from Colosseum? You know how Ridiculously Rare that is right? Like that thing legitimately is One Of The Hardest To Obtain Pokemon In The Entire Series. (Side Note a Shiny Absol in Ruby Version was my First Caught Shiny Ever and I'm planning to transfer it through the Generations as well)
Pokémon obtained in Colosseum & XD can be traded via wireless trading they just can't be traded on the GTS or through Wonder Trades I got rid of a load of Females from those games by trading people using the PSS on ORAS.
@@gregorymirabella1423 if you find a Shiny in a battle it is the rarest because it will Reroll the Shiny Chance once caught, if you just catch regular Pokemon and it ends up Rolling into a Shiny then yeah it's fairly average. But for someone to Transfer it to the Current Games they'd need Several Games and Consoles to do so, I'd consider that one of the hardest to get overall.
I find this soooo satisfying to watch! Honestly, I want to do this too just to fill up my skipped Pokémon Journey. Thanks for the idea. :) Added: Now I want a Gamecube. Hahaha!
I can’t wait for them to add the old Legendaries to SwSh so I can transfer my Purified Shadow Lugia all the way to them. I have to wonder if they’ll remember to program Psycho Boost into the game...
poisson multi-taches I know he’s just a normal Lugia. But he knows Psycho Boost, a move normally only learned by Deoxys. That’s what makes him special and proves he is a purified Shadow Lugia.
My one big problem with this is, at least the last time I checked, Pokemon Bank has a monthly fee. So the ability to transfer to the newer games is stuck behind a paywall, meaning there are people who can't afford to do something that had been free.
@@sirk603 The sad part though is that pokémon bank is probably gonna close some time soon, and then it probably won’t be possible to transfer old pokémon to the newer games.
Michael, I really like your video! It's cool to see them move all the way from Colosseum and XD to the Nintendo Switch games, isn't it? There are actually two - and only two - Pokémon that can have an even longer journey. These are the Celebi and Pikachu from the Colosseum Bonus Disc (specifically, the Celebi sent to Colosseum and not the Generation III games). These Pokémon are generated on a separate Gamecube game, and then sent into the main file for Colosseum, so there's one extra step! I suppose that makes them - especially Pikachu, since it can't go directly to the Game Boy Advance games - the absolute holders for the title of 'traveled the longest to get to the present day.' Of course, they're extremely rare, but that only adds to the amazement!
Got nostalgic the other day, so I got all my old Pokémon games back out and surprisingly I still had the styli for both my DS and 3DS, even though I could have sworn I'd lost at least one of them.
The Triumphant is a ribbon is the pokemon software architect from 2003's way of saying "don't act like you're not impressed". Ok not really, but it's extremely cool that a chunk of data in a game can migrate so many systems with so much data intact.
It’s not perfect, but you can get gen 1 Pokémon into sword and shield, it just breaks a few rules. It’s possible to rip save files off gen 1 cartridges, and if you then buy that game on the virtual console for the DS it’s also possible to inject your ripped save file onto the DS.

meowmasterL346 paywall?
@@ConnorVide You didn't pay anything for transferring Gen 3 to 4. And Gamefreak would never see any profits from link cables/gameboys/DS's sold because they don't manufacture them. Your point...?
Me too.. i have all my teams since sphire, ruby and coliseum.. my umbreon and espion.. and my first blasiken.. i bring all teams (sphire, smerlad, coliseum, diamon, platinum, black, y, sun, ultra moon) to pkmn home
Sorry my inglish
I’ve wanted to do something like this for some time now, but instead my goal would be getting (almost) every champion badge from every region. Even tho there’s no real gain, you gotta admit wouldn’t that be badass?!
Then you'd only need HGSS -> Platinum -> BW2 -> (Bank: XY, ORAS, SM) -> (Home: SwSh, LGPE)
man, now i wanna try this too. legit copies are expensive as hell, though, and i have no clue how emulating would go
@@xionkuriyama5697 Homebrewed 3DS all the way every day.
The way to transfer from gen 4 to gen 5 is still so horrible lol
JustAGlitch it’s at least quicker than pal park

Yeah me to kid.
