Its possible with Swampert it learns surf, muddy water which can defeat solrock and lunatone in ruby, saphire and OR AS in emerald cladol with surf and muddy water and xatu with ice beam!
How about you enter the battle with Swarmpert and Castform, then have Swampert use Surf to damage the opponents and kill Castform at the same time? In this case Castform technically does not battle. Edit: I just realized you can only do the above in ORAS since Surf did not hit allies in Gen 3

My boy Swampert can beat up any gym strategy and team with pure brute force, cuz there's only one gym pokemon that is strong against it, and it's a bad pokemon that is rekt by ice. It can even hold his own against the elite 4 and champion because he's the best
Technically the Mudkip line cannot solo Ruby or Sapphire because when you try to fight Tate and Liza, you won't be able to unless you have a second pokemon. The reason for this is the fact that Tate and Liza are the double battle gym leaders, and will refuse to fight you unless you have at least two pokemon. Therefore, you are unable to truly beat Ruby/Sapphire with only Mudkip. God, that felt like I was writing a school assignment.

I thought about Gen 4 (10:04). Can you technically do it with Goldeen, because it learns Waterfall by level up? I don't remember when you need waterfall, and I don't remember if waterfall can be deleted in this case since it is a level up move.
@@tayeb7031 it seems like you dont understand what i meant, i meant for beating their own games, feraligatr is the absolute best compared to chikorita and cyndaqil, its no comparison, same goes for swampert. same goes for blastoise. same goes for primarina, emboar is actually so bad that its not even used in speedruns, in bw and bw2 all of the starters are bad. and in gen4 i think you can do fine with all of the starters since they are all solid.
Honestly, I kind of miss HMs in a weird way. HMs, I feel helps with character-building for your character and even the npcs. With HMs, yes even though there exists a best hm user/combo, the method you use to traverse that world is YOURs. You were able to continue because you figured out a way to continue and not because you passed a trial and now someone gives you a method. You use a bibarel for rock smash but another person might have used a geodude and a third person could have used a machop. The same obstacle but different methods of getting across it. It makes your adventure feel more personalized. In sun and moon/ USUM, the world doesn't feel as special, and traveling through it doesn't feel unique at all. Everyone that you see get past a certain point, npc or not, you just assume they have a Tauros to smash the rocks in the way as well or something. It's just THE way to travel which makes the gen 7 games feel even more linear. Yes, hms are annoying with requiring pokemon to be in your party but sword and shield introduced an easy solution/ addon to that. Since you can access the PC anywhere in sword and shield. A simple addon that gamefreak can have is if you have the necessary move to deal with the obstacle in front of you, have the player character automatically call out the pokemon from the box, deal with the obstacle and then return to the box. This way, your adventure still feels personal while not being an annoyance. The worst thing you have to do is find a pokemon that can learn the move, forcing interaction with new pokemon, which isn't a bad thing. Edit: Just to clear something up real quick, I love and am totally fine with where pokemon is right now on HM like features. Having to go back to the PC is the most annoying thing in pokemon. I just felt that there are small positive aspects of HMs that could be kept around. It can show that npcs have their unique journeys as well. As someone who loves a good story in-game, this feels like a missed opportunity for smaller stories.
I personally disagree with the HMs making it any more personal than games without HMs. After all, you don’t really "figure out" how to travel by getting a HM Pokémon, no more than you figure out how to use Ride Pokémon. Not to mention you can use hundreds of different team combinations and cool Pokémon that you like. Your playthrough will absolutely be different from someone else's because of the Pokémon you caught and how you trained and used them. Catching a Bidoof just for Rock Smash doesn’t make it feel personal, it just makes it feel like a checklist I need to tick before I’m allowed to play the game how I want to play it. It’s actually part of the reason I personally love the Alola games so much. I can choose whatever Pokémon I want to play with and not be punished. It doesn’t matter what team I want to use. I can have fun with the Pokémon I want to use, and I don’t need to stop playing the game to go back to the PC just so I can confirm I have enough progress to continue playing.
8:35 when i played this game for the first time, i thought infernape learned rock smash naturally, so i grinded until he did, i didnt know the actual exit was on the left, so my chimchar evolved into a monferno and then i realized it didnt, so i searched the actual place, and continued with my op monferno

Alternate title: is it possible to beat a Pokémon game with a water starter cause it’s the only one that can learn the water HM’s most of the time unless it’s Pokémon black and white
well that's the anime, they do things very weirdly and for some reason the anime has pokemon learning moves that they are actually unable to learn such as Ash's Litten knowing Slash which is actually a move that cat is unable to learn
10:19 Ash's snorlax that can learn 6 moves at once: *Imma stop you right there* I know snorlax can't learn all the HM's btw, so please don't point that out.
I wonder why Flash ever was a HM in the first place. I can understand the others so you can't accidentally forget them and be stuck somewhere. But once you used Flash the area will stay bright - and even if it didn't, you still wouldn't be completely stuck. It would just be a pain to get out of the cave again.
That is literally the reason I never finished my play through of Silver on virtual console. I got all the way to the end and the damn feraligator couldn't learn waterfall. I was so confused and angry I stopped playing it 😂
Swampert is the strongest starter I've ever had... I still remember by big boi remaining on 2 HP after taking a crit Return from Anabel's Entei (Battle Tower-Silver Symbol)...
In Pokemon Blue, Red, Leaf Green and Fire Red, i just got an idea about (maybe) a possibility for Blastoise to Solo Run without Cut: Simply skip the 3rd gym until you beat Koga and backtrack manually since you cannot use Fly outside of battle due to the fact that you didn't fought Serge yet. Then once back in Vermillon City, use Surf to reach the small portion with the gym. Once Serge defeated, use Surf again to get out and proceed with the game. There you go, Blastoise CAN now Solo Run the whole thing.
You can't actually beat the Hoen region ( pokemon ruby, sapphire, emerald ) with only one pokemon, because you can't fight the psychic gym in double battle. You need two pokemons.

Also Blastoise having two huge powerful water cannons could theoretically cut with super high water pressure.
Thank you very much for continuing to do youtube and posting so many interesting videos.
I only found your channel a week ago, but I just honestly got some terrifying news and your videos are helping me get through the night without ending it. Thank you very much
I know that you won’t see this comment, but if you do, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for helping me get through this time
Alternate title: is it possible to beat a Pokémon game with a water starter cause it’s the only one that can learn the water HM’s most of the time unless it’s Pokémon black and white
“A pokemon can only learn 4 moves!” Ash his snorlax🙄
well that's the anime, they do things very weirdly and for some reason the anime has pokemon learning moves that they are actually unable to learn such as Ash's Litten knowing Slash which is actually a move that cat is unable to learn
@@bulborb8756 Well it is quite literally an Alternate Universe.
@@Heartrose7 or plot armor.
@@mastahrage9931 It's probably both in all honesty.
@@Heartrose7 that seems logical

Ash's snorlax that can learn 6 moves at once: *Imma stop you right there*
I know snorlax can't learn all the HM's btw, so please don't point that out.
I wonder why Flash ever was a HM in the first place. I can understand the others so you can't accidentally forget them and be stuck somewhere. But once you used Flash the area will stay bright - and even if it didn't, you still wouldn't be completely stuck. It would just be a pain to get out of the cave again.
I remember how amazed i was when i played through black with as few tms as i could and learned you only needed cut
That is literally the reason I never finished my play through of Silver on virtual console. I got all the way to the end and the damn feraligator couldn't learn waterfall. I was so confused and angry I stopped playing it 😂
Me, a Swampert fanboy: "That's a good thumbnail."
me too
"Sceptile is my favorite starter, but i can respect Swampert"
Swampert gang: "That is... Acceptable"
@@realmario979 swampert is the most underrated starter in hoenn
Swampert is the strongest starter I've ever had... I still remember by big boi remaining on 2 HP after taking a crit Return from Anabel's Entei (Battle Tower-Silver Symbol)...
@@elenicesantos4929 And he's the only one of the hoenn starters in OU.
In Pokemon Blue, Red, Leaf Green and Fire Red, i just got an idea about (maybe) a possibility for Blastoise to Solo Run without Cut:
Simply skip the 3rd gym until you beat Koga and backtrack manually since you cannot use Fly outside of battle due to the fact that you didn't fought Serge yet.
Then once back in Vermillon City, use Surf to reach the small portion with the gym.
Once Serge defeated, use Surf again to get out and proceed with the game.
There you go, Blastoise CAN now Solo Run the whole thing.
Sorry to burst your bubble but how do you even cut the tree blocking Rock Tunnel? The Squirtle line cannot learn Cut.
The solution for being late that I have come up with is to constantly have my iPad with me during online school
Even if you got all required HM's on your starter in BW2 there are trainers at Drayden's gym that are REQUIRED rotation battles with three pokemon.
"HOW CAN LICKITUNG LEARN CUT?!"
Me: LMAO, imagine if it smacks the tree with it's tongue. 😆
LOL Ted thats what i was thinking
Edit* tongue
@@aaroncallahan119 Fixed.
Marx Galactic Ambition Diglett can learn scratch
@@tedscheett9420 Also *its
Micheal: I respect sceptile and swampert.
Me: *Angry in Blaziken.*
You can't actually beat the Hoen region ( pokemon ruby, sapphire, emerald ) with only one pokemon, because you can't fight the psychic gym in double battle. You need two pokemons.
That also includes Black and White because of the mandatory twin double battle after the 1st gym fight
@@CrimsonTy they don't battle you if you don't have a second pokemon
*Hoenn
You get a gift Castform in emerald so you can beat Tate and Liza, you just never actually have to use it
@@PK_Ghostin You have to use it in T&L battle and that counts.
