I remember transfering my Red Gyarados from Soul Silver all the way to Sword and it had a Legend Ribbon since i used it to defeat Red. So seeing "Go! Gyarados The Living Legend!" was just so awesome. Had it on a Charizard, Raikou and some other Pokémon as well.
That sounds freaking amazing, at least the Ribbons are serving a purpose now.

I defeated Red on my first playthrough with a Crobat, Typhlosion, Gengar, Dragonite, Lapras, Kingdra (Since it can learn Flash Cannon).

OP is a liar, you can't bring pokemon from GB/GBC to GBA, so there's no way he could still have his original Blastoise unless he means to say he's still carrying around a Gameboy with a gen 1 or gen 2 game in it.

I remember someone commenting how they had their teams from Blue, and everyone was calling them some nasty names, but it is possible to transfer gen 1&2 Pokemon to Gen 3, albeit a lengthy and difficult process that requires some 3rd party hardware, emulators, and a few other things. In Gen 4, it'll say faraway place in the Pokémon's info. A document titled, "Converting Gen 1 &2 Pokemon to Gen 3 and Beyond" explains in full detail on how to do it.
The VC versions of the games make it much easier, gen four and five are a little more problematic unless you have an older ds or ds lite

The "Pikachu" symbol kind of looks like both pokemon. It looks like the symbol could either be Pikachu or Eevee, it just depends on how you look at it.

I was thinking the same thing.
I've been playing Pokemon since Red and Blue came out so yeah, I'm old. Imagine if that watch battery inside the cartridge still had enough juice in it after 20 years and making the transfer voyage to gen. 8 to have the same team you've beaten the Elite Four of Kanto with when you were a child back in 1999 - 2000. That very team that was once 8 bit on a monochrome screen now in full 3D. I can't even comprehend it.
Still got a working copy of Pokemon Yellow I played from over 20 years ago. I guess I didn't wear it down so much because it still works. It would be nice if they had a method of getting the data off those cartridges and putting it into another game or what have you.
I still have my original copy of Pokemon blue yellow & crystal I've been playing since the beginning I'm 33 Now I like when a franchise grows with you I was 10 when Pokemon came out it's the good memories we all cherish as Pokemon trainers I'll most likely play until the franchise ends as I get old there's nothing quite like a new generation a new region to explore making new friends along the way finding shinnies battling champions the elite four and gym leaders oh & hatching eggs too!
You can transfer Pokemon from old gen 1 and 2 carts into gen 7 if you have:
•A device that lets you convert GB save data into a file on your computer (like the GBxCart RW)
•A homebrewed 3ds with save data backup software (like Checkpoint)
•Virtual Console copies of the old games on the homebrewed 3ds.
Using this, you can back up the save file of the original game, put that file on an SD card and into your 3ds, and use the save backup software to insert the old save into the VC version of that game. Then, you can transfer the Pokemon into gen 7 with the Pokebank. Tama Hero has a video detailing all of this.

They removed a lot of features and I can say with confidence that they basically nerfed it in favor of dynamax which really isn't all that compared to Mega Evolution and Z-moves

Sadly, MissingNo turns into an actual Pokemon when you trade up from Red/Blue to Gold/Silver. I'm not 100% sure if it varies, but for me, it turned into a Remoraid.

I feel like a lot of these things missing, point towards a slightly rushed development. If I was a betting man, either a big bug or something late in development caused them to never get around to putting in these finishing touches.
I wish they’d add some of these features/special dialogue boxes via dlc. As of right now, even the professor and ppl who give you the Pokédex react like you’re talking to them for the first time, when you show them a complete dex. Very underwhelming.
Why? You still will buy their trash just like all nintendies do. They know it.

But you're from x and y forward the games have been very rushed and half Hazzardly put together with gen 7 and 8 being obvious examples.

@@lairddominoes9624 Probably because they wanted to get rid of some moves actually. Hidden Power and Pursuit were removed for competitive reasons. Others seem to have been removed because they have identical counterparts, like Bubble was just made Water Gun but better in Gen 6. Some removals still surprise me though.
Annd 1 year later, Nintendo - and GAMEFREAK have done nothing but be lazy, complacent, and ruin their games more. Legends Arceus looks like a crappy add on for sword / shield. Pokemon stopped trying. Pokemon stadium for n64 looks dramatically better. Pokemon XD gale of darkness too. That was when they still cared. They stopped caring completely after Pokemon Battle Revolution. RIP Pokemon.
I’m bummed about the moves being removed. Even if they couldn’t be bred with it. I liked the thought of our Pokémon being even more unique. Or even just as a perk of being a long time player. 🤷♀️
Hidden Power and Pursuit would be too OP to be exclusive. And Game Freak is minimizing useful event moves and exclusive moves anyway to make competitive more accessible.
I wish they still had mega evolution.
Z moves make sense to be removed, because you need Alola`s Z-power to use them. Mega evos though, not so much....
Dynamax probably wont return either because you need dynamax energy and a power spot.
Unless you release Eternatus in another region other then galar,then Dynamax will be possible
Amanda Pappas I kinda want them to keep that as a perma feature but tweak it for legendary encounters at least for mythical Pokemon when they are released through events, earn them in a group battle and catch them through a raid battle but like pogo have at least 10 people and remove the stupid function oh 4 get kicked out shit.
I do want mega evolution to reappear. Or perhaps they could make more games in the non mega evolution timeline. That would be interesting. A dynamaxed mega sounds terrifying.

As a programmer I can say pretty confidently that the data of the moves are there just to prevent bugs and that was probably the easiest way to do it. Especially nowadays that is not necessary to optimise memory as much anymore.
I also think that they removed them so not to have to make proper animations for those movements.
Could also be that they don't have data set aside for each move prior to the Pokemon reaching sword and shield, but rather worked a way in to read in the data from the old game, and add any necessary information to round it off.
That actually sounds pretty lazy for Game Freak to do that while not innovating all that much from the last game

@@Moutopher pretty much everything in games that seems like laziness is about a deadline or something else (like funding) limiting manhours. The people actually doing the work not caring is actually a lot harder to pick out.
They probably added the deleted move data in so the game wouldn’t break when players inevitably try to transfer Pokemon with deleted moves into SWSH.

From my understanding every game has all previous games data, they just make things unobtainable.

I suspect they have large libraries of all moves/items that they just don't remove things from because it's unnecessary to do so.

If they were already in Pokemon Bank it should still be possible to get them. There is an option to transfer Pokemon from Bank to Home without having your 3DS.

I want to add something regarding AZ'S Floette:
While you can't move it into Sword and Shield, there's something interesting about how HOME interprets it.
HOME on the switch does not display any artwork for Eternal Flower Floette, displaying a greyed out pokeball icon instead, but HOME on the mobile app does have a 3D model for it, and it uses yellow Floette icon art
Yeah, something similar happened with Spike Earred Pichu. You couldn't transfer it any farther forward than maybe one gen?

You can transfer them to HeartGold or SoulSilver and there is a man who can rename your Pokémon

I wonder - if you Dynamax'd the Goomy, would it still let you use the Water-equivalent move? In theory, it should, but it really doesn't like the move Bubble.

Edit : From the pokemon wiki :
"If a Pokémon is forced to use Struggle, it will not be able to Dynamax on the same turn. If a Dynamax Pokémon is forced to use Struggle, it will not turn into a Max Move."

It would have been neat if when you transfer Pikachu from Yellow Version into Sword and Shield you get Ash's iconic Indigo League hat for your character to wear with the item description reading "This cap seems to mean an awful lot to Pikachu."

One thing he didn't clarify directly: There are literally hundreds of species of Pokemon that you can transfer INTO Home, but not out of it!!
Once Pokemon are in Home, they can't go to any game except Sword/Shield -- they can't even return to the game they came from. The problem is that not all Pokemon are coded into Sword/Shield, so any of the Pokemon that aren't, CANNOT be transferred into Sword/Shield, and are just stuck in Home.
The DLC will add about 200 more, but there will still be over 200 species of Pokemon that cannot be transferred anywhere *even after the DLC release*.

I was able to send Pokemon back to Let's Go Eevee from Home. Not sure if it only locks them out once they've been sent to Sword/Shield.

That's weird my blastoise I carried over from Lets Go had Bubble and it let me use it. It did crap damage so I replaced it with hydro pump so you're not really missing much
Might be possible that some moves were removed due to maybe a bit to OP in fights. maybe just left in, cause at some point it might come back in future

I think the thing with unusable moves is just a matter of animations , the data for the move is there technically but the game wouldn't know what to play if you used it
What happened to the move "Magnitude" that geodude gets in old gen games? Can a geodude be transfered with that move onto the switch? Or would it lose its move or it's not transferable at all?

Imagine if you could transfer totem Pokémon to sword and shield and when they dynamaxed they would be bigger than regular dynamax
keep in mind im a hardware guy not a software guy, but i know a thing or 2,i have many theorys on how this may happen but heres an interesting one. maybe for the move transfer and having it not work in game is maybe because when you trade a pokemon the attack move files are attached to the pokemons files and tranfered to the new device. Then the game may have a formula for figuring out how to identify and use a move in the game(knowing pokemon as a company this is probably an old format they been using for years at this point), now for how the new game sees the old moves but can use them, since the games uses the formula, it finds an answer and that answer may have an a format for creating lettering vs having tons of preset moves and descriptions saved in the game as 100s of letter taking up drive space, ntm the programmers time saving that much typing time. now you see the moves lettering, but you never see it animation, that is what i believe that causes there error in the game and when the game finds a file that doesnt have an animation that stored in said game it gives you a message saying "hey you cant use this move". Keep in mind this is possibly pure fodder as for i never looked in to see how pokemon programming works, i typed this one out for some food for thought and maybe digging up to find the right answer. it is an interesting theory, now im going back to the show XD

Gen 3, 4, and 5 probably don't have icons because you probably can't transfer pokemon from those games straight to pokemon bank.

When on the stat screen press x and it will show the ev of the Pokémon. You should look at that to make sure it didn’t transfer because they did change ev between versions.

I think the moves data transfers with the Pokémon which, in my head, means that you can see what the move was, what its type was, the moves power, accuracy, type, other type(ranged or melee) and pp. So the move is deleted in game but not for the Pokémon
Bubble is actually unique. 40 power special water-type move that has a secondary effect and can hit multiple targets.

The removal of hidden power and return actually screwed with my main team. My Null had to get Crush Claw instead of return and I cant find a proper replacement for Hidden Power on my Sylveon

@@poissonmulti-taches2742 no, as of right now you can only transfer pokemon from go by putting them into lets go first (so basically only gen 1 pokemon can go from Go into Lets Go and then into Home)

When you transfer sword and shield Pokémon into Home, even if they go straight back to their original game you lose the friendship values you had. Idk if you mention or are aware of it, I have seen both your other Home videos talking about the process and I don’t think it was mentioned, just thought I’d let you know
I don't think you can transfer pokemon from pokemon home to the old games. Only from the old games to home and then to sword/shield
Pedro Xavier I meant when it goes from sword and shield, into home, and then back into sword and shield. So I transferred a pokemon I had full hearts with from sword into home, then back into the same sword game and it lost all its hearts and didn’t know me or the other Pokémon it used to

personally i think there should be a ribbon that totem pokemon get that makes their name (name here) the totem (pokemon species here) that when applied would make them appear slightly bigger

I actually got a Shiny White Kyurem! It costed me my lvl 100 fully hyper trained Melmetal and some Apriballs, but it was worth it! I even got Pokerus as a bonus!

If you have all the right equipment to transfer Pokemon you can transfer infinite shiny pokemon from using the clone glitch in Pokemon emerald and then transfer it to sheild
