The Payne of Existence | Max Payne Full Series Retrospective & Analysis
Gothic's controls do become somewhat intuitive after getting used to them, but I never used that as a argument to try and convince people it's good, just that it's not as bad as it initially feels :)
Hadn't played in almost 20 years, proceeded to bing the game over the course of the day 100%ing missions on hard. Had such a blast . No, I wasn't not able to 100% Bathhouse on my first run, but boy I gave it a good effort for not knowing what I was up against. I'm gonna do it lol. I needed Redding's Recommendation for those extra smokes! Thanks for the good video, TH-cam let's me indulge my hyper fixations so thoroughly. Get a feel for some of what The People think. Thanks for contributing 👍
The Batman Arkham series serves of a sort of remake of this game. They're the same developers, Murky foot= Rocksteady
Bonanno was kind of forced out of the mob life and even did tv segment(s) [like 60 minutes]. No surprise his son did this.
There’s no map and no fast travel. The combat sucks. Wanted to play still
I never knew the name-signing is mentioned later on. In what context? By who? I always signed my name. it's so cool. A boyle sister vanishes without a trace and, in the process of investigating, the grand guard checks the ledger and sees "Corvo Attano" signed in beautiful cursive. I imagine this being reported to Burrows, him struggling to sleep that night, horrified by the thought that corvo might make HIM disappear, too
24:46 was so random, I love the little climb he did there 😂😂
Good review gonna replay it 😭
One of the best games I've ever played
Not enough games like this on the ps1….. it was a few years ahead of its time.
Also, there are quite a few force powers that work against the final boss's gimmick- not just two, like you claimed- and you should have at least one by that point. Disable/Destroy Droid, Force Lightning/Storm, Choke/Kill, (Advanced) Trow Lightsaber, Force Breach, and Drain Life/Death Field are all the powers that work.
About the Manaan trial- the datapad only applies if you accepted the children dissapearance quest and found it in the area that the quest opens up. Otherwise, you have to properly defend yourself, facing the risk of execution if you are too honest and/or stupid.
F
I played splinter cell 1, POT, DA, Conviction & Blacklist ( in that order) chaos theory was the only one I didn’t get to play. I finally got to play/beat it last month and sheesh! This was the best one in the series hands down! it’s sad that Ubisoft like the idiots they are didn’t take this series to next level. Chaos theory set a crazy bar all they had to do for the sequels was just turn it up a notch awhile still keeping it the same. Add a few mechanics like the swimming mechanic they added in DA and the smoothness/cover system of conviction. Instead they fucked it all up by having an identity crisis. That’s what happens when you try to rush development and add new people to make your IP instead of keeping the original ones that made it.
I just installed the demo on ps5. I wish it were fully released on console already
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sith
WOW - excellent analysis and tidbit on music!!! My favorite childhood game Im 27 now and my heart and mind always come back to this at times. So so so good. Subbed
A Mafia 2 precursor: the vet voiced by Rick Pasqualone retrospects how did he end up as a mafia hitman
does dusk reference this game?
I played the first game in it's original version when it first came out. Pretty grindingly difficult from the perspective of ammo scarcity and toughness of enemies.
Great video. I can't believe i just got the two remastered games plus the Gold Edition of the newest one, all three games, for $9!
the tom scream at 43:05 gets me everytime
I had a friend back when this came out, yes I’m ancient I know, who showed this game to me and my brother and we were instantly hooked. OG Xbox days and this game was pretty much unknown at the time because halo and the upcoming halo 2 were all the rage and, for some, you could play online with friends. Kotor and Kotor 2 were very underrated and they hold up extremely well today. I still love to play them on my switch and series X today.
You want piss physics? play Postal 2
Loving this game so far, only on the 2nd level, loving it, big fan of minimi games so this is my kind of game, hope they can make more like this
this game is like playing an existential novel. its harrowing and fascinating
here from your dishonored 2 video- never seen a game review for this game before but it was a childhood classic
Its not open world.
It is a semi-open world game with some fully linear levels. There are tons of immersive elements and realism combined with a solid story and characters.
Picked this game up for half off last night. The dlc was announced, and if I didn't have to work today, it would be what I'd be playing. I got to play maybe 15 minutes, and I already love the atmosphere and the inventory management. The voice acting is also so very good. I'm suprised to have not seen more about this game. Usually New Blood games are on my radar. It's a great suprise.
Eurojank is a reductive term usually describing some obscure niche thing. Gothic 1 and 2 are objectively one of the best action/rpgs ever made.
subscribing bc of the little chuckle at 15:57 and the high school reunion mlm tangent. love this vibe
its too short
It was interesting watch and i agree with most of your points here, but i disagree that gothic controls scheme is bad. If you think about it it makes perfect sense, its just unusual, the ctrl button is intent and arrow keys is the action and direction also makes perfect sense. It just sad that game doesnt explain it at all, i assume its in physical instruction manual, but they should have at least included the basics inside the game menu. At first it was weird, but after some time i quickly accustomed to them to the point i actually like it. The thing that i personally not a big fan of is the combat system, i get that some people like it, but to me its a bit finicky and janky as fighting multiple monsters becomes frustrating, some enemies is hard to read or they are to quick so you end up basically guessing their movement.
The phantom menace and attack of the clones were good movies ☹️
i wonder is there any other game among Half Life 2 from which people are still making 1h videos 20 years later.
Honestly? I kinda liked 2033's stealth, sure it wasnt as good as Light's, but i found i could often sneak more times than others say. I will agree it is finicky though, i just wanted to say that it atleast has an audience :D Though, brilliant review <3
Mass Effect, the first one, remains my favorite of the three games in the trilogy. As much of an improvement the other two games made upon ME1, the way the story turned in Mass Effect 2 with the absolutely absurd ending and the terrible (in my opinion) decision to soft-reboot the whole cast makes me loathe it. Yeah the writing is good, and the characters are great, but everything we did in ME1 was just blown to oblivion for no good reason at all. ME1 reigns supreme for me, and in one reality of our world, I'm sure ME2 and ME3 truly built off of ME1 and it's DLC cliff-hangers.
