Ever since Thaumaturge was announced, it couldn't make more sense to me that a game set in mythical/supernatural alt-history Poland with a detective-like protagonist is led by an ex-Witcher dev.
Crafting a complex RPG with a relatively small team was quite a rewarding challenge so I'm really happy you enjoyed The Thaumaturge! Thanks for the in-depth review! 🤍
Thank you for the kind words, both here and on Twitter! Nothing makes me happier than seeing the people who worked so freaking hard to make a piece of art enjoying my coverage 🦝🦝🦝
Another really interesting video TSOM. Especially appreciated the historical context at the start. I'll also provide one bit of feedback though: I thought the narrator switch, while funny, took far too long to be clarified as such. It had me lost for a good amount of time, wondering what was going on. I feel like the same joke could have been cut down to 10-15 seconds, which would have made the whole thing much clearer, as well as funnier imo :)
Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the feedback! I’m always looking for ways to improve this aspect because I really enjoy collabing with peers
The interruption of switching narrators was an interesting choice, but kind of jarring. I was really immersed until that abrupt gimmick. Edit: I love how you addressed this at 19:00
I love your channel. Keep at it! I liked this game a lot but didn’t finish it because it was very dialogue heavy and most of the dialogue was very lost in translation. Like they translated Polish (?) directly to English. Slang included. Wonder why they didn’t spend the money to get a native speaker to translate correctly.
Thank you for the kind words! Huh. Interesting. I actually noticed that some lines felt off in the way you describe so it turns out I wasn’t hallucinating after all lmao
Funny to see people being actually interested in Polish folklore, however is that connection of the word "upiór" with "vampire" an actual thing though? Or just a bit? Also seeing a "marzanna" portrayed as a demon was kinda unintentionally hilarious to me, but probably accurate in the context of the wider slavic mythology. Overall this vid kinda made me want to play this, good job mate. PS: I'm still salty there is no polish dub option though.
The actual etymology of the word vampire is something of a mess to be honest but Upir could have been one of numerous words that contributed to the one we currently have in English. There's a lot of others that may or may not have contributed though, for example the Turkish Uber meaning Witch..
27:57 when I do buy the game, I for one will very much look forward to seeing Upyr's *angy* cane-smashing and stabby animations, many, many times
Oh man, wait until you see all the salutor animations, they’re a treat. Glad my video convinced you to buy the game! 😊

Wishlisted, great video! SP
Hey thanks man! SP
Loved the game, I am well over 30 hours and just in the second act!
Word. It’s GOTY contender for me and it’s only April
I just installed the demo on ps5. I wish it were fully released on console already
Great video, appreciate the history catchup to help with framing
Glad you enjoyed it! That section was very close to being cut so I’m happy people like it

You’d have to ask Arkham about that

Good shit man 🤘
Hahaha, the human-shaped snails bit was a good metaphor and certainly not something I will now look up on rule34

Much appreciated!
Ayy arkham666 cinematic universe
This is a pseudo-hybrid of Arcanum and somewhat of Planescape: Torment.
Man I HAVE TO cover Arcanum someday
*Engagement*
Loved the video man!
Thank you Melon!
Would you say this is the penny dreadful Disco Elysium?
Oh man I wish I had thought of this line when writing the script
No we don't. Game is made by Fool's Theory which is woke ASF company.
