Chaos Theory taught me to _see the things everyone else ignores._ 17 years later... Politics, News, War...Information warfare. This game was very prophetic. Between good story telling and Michael Ironsides deep humor this game held wisdom. An aura.

There have been a few good indie games but aside from the new MGS remastered collection there's not much else. Splinter Cell is apparently getting a reboot but I don't have high hopes for that.

Still the best (not just one of the best, simply the best) stealth game in existence
The animations, the detail, the ways you can tackle objectives and navigate around the maps, how you can choose to go full assault or full stealth (did a ghost playthrough, it's HARD af but fun af), and most importantly, the CAMERA
The camera is SO good in this game it's a wonder it's not used as a template more often
The way it subtly moves around Sam to either have him in the focus or depending on the situation, how it changes focus without you really noticing. If you're in a tight hallway it moves to the left or right of Sam depending on Sam's distance to the wall. If you're in the vicinity of an enemy it will focus on that enemy so it's easier to gauge distance. If you're near a corner it will automatically move so you can peek around that corner without having to press a button.
It's so fucking good and most of all: it just works. In my 18 years of playing this game I've NEVER had issues with the camera. Not with clipping, not with being too close to Sam (because if it's too close it simply moves up so you can still see everything).
And of course, lastly, Sam is just an absolute amazing character

    • @thesummerofmark

The one thing about the PC version that makes me prefer playing it on the Series S, is that using the mouse wheel is a bit cheap since you can just set Sam's speed to an ideal stealthy one and not think about it much. On a controller you have to be aware of how fast you're moving him which really adds to the tension of creeping around guards.

i've never actually played any of the tom clancy games outside of ghost recon just because i wasn't really interested growing up, but this video definitely peaked my interest in chaos theory. it looks like a game that has a lot more heart than what's on the surface, from dialogue, to the sound design, even the small details of the plot sound thorough. gonna have to figure out how to get started since i'd be going in blind, but i'm genuinely interested in giving it a shot thanks to you. keep up the good work!!

I played splinter cell 1, POT, DA, Conviction & Blacklist ( in that order) chaos theory was the only one I didn’t get to play. I finally got to play/beat it last month and sheesh! This was the best one in the series hands down! it’s sad that Ubisoft like the idiots they are didn’t take this series to next level. Chaos theory set a crazy bar all they had to do for the sequels was just turn it up a notch awhile still keeping it the same. Add a few mechanics like the swimming mechanic they added in DA and the smoothness/cover system of conviction. Instead they fucked it all up by having an identity crisis. That’s what happens when you try to rush development and add new people to make your IP instead of keeping the original ones that made it.

No less than a masterpiece and the greatest stealth game ever made. Says a lot that MGS3 came out a few months before and Chaos Theory thoroughly outclasses it.
As for Pandora Tomorrow, tbh, I still play these games on an Xbox. Just a modern one. Getting some old games to run on PC is a hassle sometimes and the Splinter Cell series is no exception. So just booting them up on an Xbox One or Series console is just incredibly convenient for me. Sure, it's not 60fps but these are slow paced games to begin with, so it's not exactly a deal breaker. Also, when you get to Double Agent, I highly recommend playing the OG Xbox version of it as it is the best version and the PC port is the 360 version of DA.
Can't wait for your video on Blacklist though. It doesn't have Ironside as Sam Fisher but it's still the second best game in the series. Extremely underrated.

I played double agent pc version and it was a beautiful realistic experience and I played this game on my modded ps2 with high hopes…
The first mission was on a cave type area I wanted to skip it bad cause it felt kinda boring after some minutes in, unable to find the ways…
But I still wanted to proceed to the next mission hoping to see better places with less confusion then comes the second mission
It was on a ship with lots of rooms and stairs but I still played more than an hour trying to complete it and I did complete the part where you put a tracker inside 6-8 boxes hidden on the ship then the other part was to eliminate a particular target but on the ship I already cleared all the enemies 😂 and I knocked out some enemies without killing them too, and now I have to go search all over the ship once again to find the knocked enemies and kill the target. Lol
That sucked and that’s when I quit trust me this game is garbage, I’m not dum or something 💀 I tried so hard to search the entire ship carefully lots of doors and doors and stairs after stairs and doors confusing I started sweating and got motion sickness with the urge to puke 😂

Yes, because not only is it still the best Splinter Cell game, it's one of the greatest in the genre. And that only makes the fact that Ubisoft dropped the ball even worse. How do you have such proof of what makes a game so memorable and great only to blow it all?
Rhetorical question, to be honest. We all know it has to do with money.

I don’t think we’ll ever see a classic Splinter Cell game. Not from this Ubisoft

In the era of remakes - how the feck have the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia games but been given a respectable do-over? Ubisoft are too busy rehashing the same shitty Assassin's Creed game to do it.

As sad as it is, I think we should all come to terms with the fact that the Ubisoft of today is a fundamentally different Ubisoft than the one from the 2000s 😭 They were so great once upon a time

Splinter cell and kotor was the height of gaming.
