That makes total sense actually now that you mention it. They really did exhaust all options before giving the kill order

Watched this today. My 17 year old daughter was in the room for most. We loved the lore behind the different vampire factions. This was such an ambitious game. So much could have been, but we'll never know. You did an amazing job reviewing this. Love the details you bring out and enjoyed the crossover with @cultofthecyberskull. Now I'm off to check out his channel.

great video! been playing this a few years after watching the Sseth video, and it was well-worth the money for the replayability alone. Clan Quest, and Final Nights are worth a try, to any newbies watching for totally different playthroughs. easily a top ten game, and I'm old

Fun fact, in VtM lore, some dude accidently got onto Schreknet, the vampire internet. He leaked it, and then like, the militaries were like, "Oh shit." and teamed up with the Vatican to from the Second Inquisition

Im glad that they made it possible to skip the sewers, but have they done anything about the broken end game sections where if you havent invested in firearms, you're gonna have a bad time?
3/4 of VTMB is one of the best rpgs ever made, but Chinatown is rough as far as i remember.
y'know what's messed up is I hated the sewers until I played TFN a few times and practiced the pump room a bit. forgot you could hit the switch without the computer terminal, then it's like 'damn it's easy dafuk'
I miss when RPGs has unvoiced protagonists and let you choose responses.
I never played Temple of Elemental Evil, but the fact that Troika put out two certified hood classics during their 7 years of lifetime is absolutely mind-boggling to me

As someone who edited the game, and actually erased dicerolls for gunshot, aswell as allowed all guns to be "perfectly aimed" ... so the only difference for "better guns" and "better firearm skills" was how fast you achieve this perfect aim state, and how much it will untune if you move either character or your aim ... (and dmg, ofc.)

Lovely retrospective. I also appreciate that you pronounce "Lacroix" in the correct way, which the game... just doesn't. Oh well, looks like it's time for another reinstall *giggles like a child*

The definitive way to play Bloodlines is the true patch, not the unoffical "patch" which is actaully a bloody mod.
I haven't played the true patch but I'm actually somewhat in agreement in that even the basic version of the Unofficial patch has questionable additions (restoring things probably cut for reason and not time, changing a lot of things that don't need changing like fat larry's position and music choices, etc.). But I wouldn't go nearly as far as you, most of what the basic version does is still a patch and not a mod. Also you shouldn't "actually" about things in the first place, this comment could use rephrasing.
I am glad to hear (presumably) there's a better patch available I'll check it out before my next playthrough.
Heh, that Noclip crash! Happens when you activate the console ingame. Hit esc to go to the menu before activating the console and it won't happen.

Hey, hey people, Mark here with another banger. I'm really looking forward to playing my first as a nosferatu, I think I played 2 hours total a couple of months ago. Malkavian? Don't remember. And I don't mind the dice roll ranged combat that much. But I think I'll go melee. Happy holidays and congratulations for sticking with making the videos. One thing about the graphics is that I am very surprised it didn't age as horribly as most early 3D games pre 2010 do.
The newest version of the unofficial patch literally was just released five hours ago.

Amazing retrospective, thoroughly enjoyable and I didn't even feel the time fly by, actually felt a lot shorter than an hour would. Absolutely love the game for all its flaws, one of my all time favourites. Still bitter about the hype I got when they announced VtMB 2 and how that went. What a complete fucking shitshow, even worse development hell than the first one, which convinced me that game is compromised and unsalvageable, especially after they booted Mitsoda off the project. Fucking shame that this will never get the proper sequel it deserves. At this point, I'd be happy if they cancel that one and actually properly remaster this one. Ironic that this franchise is so cursed. Also. How can you mention the voice acting, but not include Jack's beginning sequence in there, man? :))))
Thanks man! I decided against including his dialogue because the bar where Jack’s located has a licensed song playing in the background. I could’ve included some lines from the tutorial which are YT-safe, but eh, they’re not as good as the ones from the bar. Funny thing, my video got copyright claimed for the Asylum theme, so I had to remove the video and re-edit, re-render and republish it anyway lmao
@@thesummerofmark ah fair enough, that totally makes sense.
I only played this for the first time last year. The combat is really clunky , especially melee, and isn't that fun. If someone was to try the game now I would suggest avoiding clans like brujah and going for gangrel or another blood magic clan. makes combat lots more fun. Visuals are also a weak point and i highly recommend using reshade if playing the game now, but avoid all those "realistic" presets floating around that attempt to make the game look modern. they work in some areas but overall the game looks worse. I used my own preset that used the likes of comic shaders that gave the game a cel-shaded borderlands aesthetic which was awesome. The writing is fantastic though.
I want more cel-shaded. The only one that scratched that it to the fullest for me was XIII
