Wouldn't it make sense to replace the pick up screen while in there doing all this work? I've always done that.

Ok i have a question - has anyone tried, or would it even work - tried spraying the pink stuff with some glue then use that extra thick home food foil on it, both sides?, it appears to come wide enough for the wall sheets and now you would have 2 sided foil sheets before putting the wood walls back up? Of course shiny side out… or is this just not going to work at all?

I’m looking at a 2015 outback wagon never had a flush as far as I know when the transmission warms up it has what they call micro slips where it hesitates for a brief second I’m wondering if flushing the transmission would fix

Saving a large amount of $. Do not own and will never purchase a CVT. POS transmission unless they get it right. Good luck with that.

Have you ever done a coolant flush on your Subaru forester?

Thanks, I was able to replace my 2015 Forester XT wheel hub with help from this video. One thing to mention to anyone else who may be attempting this with only hand tools, you'll need to remove the axle nut before removing the break caliper. Breaking the axle nut can be a real mfer, a buddy pressing the breaks still wasn't enough force to stop the rotor from spinning while breaking the nut loose. My solution was to jam a strong flat head screw driver in the grates of the rotor and spin until the screw driver is pressing against the caliper preventing the rotor from spinning. Then using 3 ft breaker bar with 4 ft steel helper rod for leverage and about a 1/2 can of PB blaster it finally came free.

my cvt equipped 2017 legacy calls for extra mt gear oil in the front diff. this fluid is unavailable in quantities less than 5 gal. what commercially available gear oil is compatible. Subaru wants $200 for a service comprising essentially just over 1 qt of fluid and 3 o-rings. what a rip!

One thing I'm wondering is why some are saying there needs to be a relearn for the transmission after flushing/refilling. Is that really needed? You did not mention it and I suspect you did not perform the relearn.

if you cut expanded polystyrene with a razor sharp filet knife always pulling on the cut, it will cut as smooth as the stock edge with no fluffy beads flying all over.

just did front and rear today..thank you very helpful.only need to remove two bolts on the plastic cover.kinda works like a funnel for the drain plug couldnt have done it without your video however.hadtokeep watching while I did it.just subscribed..

So glad I watched this as this has been bothering me on my purchase, as the dealer wants $700 plus to do full flush, as I can figure the oil runs about @22 a quart, so after the oil cost that means they are charging like $500 labor, well that's too fuc'n much, so thanks, I've seen several of these trans. service videos and they just drain once and refill, so thanks for going the extra mile to show us how easy it is...Javi G.

This is an excellent video! I just went through the disassembly process before I watched this video, and found that I took loose a couple of parts that I didn't need to. Shame on the factory service manual for leading me astray. I was also unable to determine which part was actually the filter until I watched you and your post mortem that you did on the filter. I have it figured out now and have the right part ordered. Thanks for that part number, too.

When I bought my Torque wrench when I was 78, I thought I would not get to use it for other than my tire rotations and brake jobs. But it looks like I may have to do wheel bearings at sometime, I have 116,000 miles on the sube. The prices for work at the dealers shops is off the wall, And I even got prices from a good local garage for $680 for just the rear set. Thanks to videos like this I may end up making sure I use stainless steel screws in my coffin! Mienike had a game going on with free tire rotation, but then when you went back the next time they said 4 studs were cross threaded and wanted $40 a pop to replace them, said Subaru uses cheap metal studs. So they lost a loyal customer!

Good information. What about a vapor barrier or moisture barrier? Should we be placing anything between the exterior wall of the trailer and the insulation, such as plastic sheeting and also should it be placed between the insulation and the interior wall?
