MT, Thanks for the cool video of the Opal Springs area; it has been closed for the last 2 years for construction of the fish ladder, it is good to see folks getting back down there. I also appreciated that you voiced calling the DVWD or at least checking in when you are down there; after all it is an active hydro electric site. The Fish hatchery down there is run by ODFW, and they are in fact steelhead! It helps supplement numbers until enough fish start spawning naturally up the Crooked. For some cool fish ladder building videos and general information check out the Crooked River Watershed Councils video series on Opal Springs Fish ladder. th-cam.com/video/0TDp3YRSpO4/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/UlppCFC-8C4/w-d-xo.html The third Video will be released this week which will show time laps of the entire construction as well as more actual building of the ladder information. To date there are 23 steelhead over the ladder and into the upper reaches of the Crooked, hopefully they will spawn!! Again, thanks for your time taking footage and narrative; feel free to check out the Crooked River Watershed Council website fore general info on the project (as we partnered with the Deschutes Valley Water District to put the ladder in) , fish counts and other useful info. Cheers!! www.crwc.info/

Thank you! And thanks for this great info! It's a beautiful area down there, and a rich history, so few know about. I'm excited for the fishery over the next several years and seeing how it goes. Much appreciated as a fisher/Oregonian.

Thanks for the video. I’ve lived in central Oregon my entire life and have never seen this.

Nice video. I spent two years down there putting all the iron in that new fish passage. Headed to round butte dam soon.

New project at round butte? That must have been a pretty cool job getting to work on that project in that location. So cool, good job!
