    I watched Terry Farmer’s TH-cam video that pointed folks to your videos. I did a little research and then went to Discount Tire today and they price matched the Discounted Wheel Warehouse price ($107/tire when in my cart... thanks for that tip too! $125 when not in the cart and $125 at Discount Tire) on the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail 225/60R17. You saved me ~$76 today. Thanks!!

    Going to swap out the stocks for the Falkens as soon as I get my new Forester. Bought them for $355 plus tax and shipping at wheel warehouse compared to $580 at Discount Tire. Doesn't look like discount wheel warehouse has the discounted price on these anymore so I'm happy that I got them while they were on sale! All thanks to you my friend!

    I got this tires about a week ago on my '17 Toyota Sienna AWD they are very light compared to the Run Flat Tires that are factory and didn't last long. I am very happy and pleased so far didn't need a lift only 1cm. spacer not totally required but just in case went from 235/55/18 to 235/60/18. The van rides better stops faster compared to the extremely heavy useless RFT.

    Thanks so much for great share and videos! I have an 16 Forester I got a few months ago, with 41k Miles; looking for new tires soon... so had Geolanders last year on Caravan, after monster snow year.. they were great, but pricey. Now with Subee AWD; all 4 need to match, so thanks again for all your research, and information! All the best to you and all in the New Year! Cheers from the PNW :)

      Thanks, yes it went down and varies with how much city acceleration is done. I'd say around 3-5 mpgs. But keep in mind I came from a very light eco tire, the a heavy all terrain.

    • @Pelletgagecom

    $152 for 225/55/18. I’ll stick to buying them at my local shop since it’s about the same price they’ll have them for. So much for a “discount” but thank you for the heads up nonetheless.

    • @MTsubfly
      @MTsubfly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, yea unfortunately tires with a larger rim diameter usually cost more to manufacture. In my videos I am adressing stock tire size for my vehicle 225/60R17, and I just checked again on DWW today, at $107.76 per tire plus shipping. Not near as low as they were at the time I purchased. I would suspect there is a high demand for these tires now, driving prices up. I think you will NOT regret your purchase though, I'm still ours! good to support local -always! Cheers!

    I had the very same accident ($7K in damage in my case) during a sudden Winter storm catching me out & about in a hilly residential area. It was my right-front tire though hitting the curb! I was in Subaru Crosstrek XV (2014) BUT it had the OEM All-Season tires on it.
    Goes to show no matter how good the AWD/4x4 system is, if you have "inappropriate" tires on it can't save you.
    Right now my Honda Pilot AWD (2016) has Continental TerrainContact AT tires on it. When I get my 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 in March, it comes with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs. After they wear out will decide if I want to stay with them or go with another brand AT (and 3-Peak) rated tire.
    The Falken Wildpeak will be one of the tires on my Short List. Probably something General makes also.
    I usually use Discount Tire...but of course will try to get the best deal on new tires no matter where I get them.

    • @MTsubfly
      @MTsubfly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's sucks! Definitely unexpected loss of traction.
      For your Colorado, consider the Cooper AT34S, I put them on my truck, lots of snow driving, and snowflake rated, 65k mile warranty, good price, made in USA. I have a video review on my channel on them on my truck, one of my earlier videos, but I really recommend them.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTsubfly Okay...will add the Coopers to my Short List...even though it will be a few years before I'll need to replace the DuraTracs, and who knows what tires will be out then...and which are top-rated.

    I've been buying my tires at Discount Tire for over a dozen years they buy the cheapest tires I can get in for around $90 I get a warranty free tire rotation and if I get a flat tire they fix it it's all part of it 90 bucks of Tire including tax

  • @tigerbalm666
    @tigerbalm666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    90% people looking for tires don't shop around. They jsut go with what is available and convenient (while gettting other services) when they need them!

    • @MTsubfly
      @MTsubfly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's pretty much what I did at Costco when I bought the Ecopias. Of course their spiel was how good they are, on sale, we sell a lot of them.... BUT now I know from research there are far better all-season tires for the money. But where I live, I have found having the Falken AT a tremendous value, and they have been performing great. Only drawback is some MPG's lost.

  • @nhanquach4388
    @nhanquach4388 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review, heads up though usually when you get noise intermittently when you turn/load up or down on a corner in my experience had been a suspension bushing(s) whereas a wheel bearing will get loud constantly with speed. Lmk if that helps good luck.

    • @MTsubfly
      @MTsubfly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nhan Quach, it sounds like a dull, wha wha wha, when loaded up in a corner, not a continuous sound. My thought was only a few rollers were dinged in the impact, making it a pulsing sound. Its stayed the same for 500 miles.
      The lower control arm assembly was replaced (ball joint/associated bushings) no sign of damage to strut. What else could it be? Are there more bushings? Hmmmm.

    • @nhanquach4388
      @nhanquach4388 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MT There could possibly be more bushings, only way is to take the tire off and look at the bushings for rips, cracks and tears. Some cars have an upper assembly also.

    Just wanted to check something - sometimes when tire resellers price tires so low (often at walmart and costco), they're buying from a lower quality batch of tires. I almost purchased my Toyo OC AT3's through a site similar to this, but after reading up on the tire reviews, many people who paid the discounted rates had tires that shed tread or wore unevenly. Do you think this could be the case for these Wildpeaks through discounted wheel warehouse?

    • @MTsubfly

    • @MTsubfly
      @MTsubfly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They might. There are other guys that have clearance issues without a lift. It's your risk. In my opinion there is no real need to go to a larger tire, you are going to be straining your engine/drivetrain more, and get even worse fuel economy. If stock All-terrains on a Subaru wont get you where you need to go, you need a different vehicle, or you are looking for a certain "look". Check out Terry Farmer's video, I think he went up a size and almost had a little rubbing. Goodluck!
