    I'm curious to know if the fairing came painted, or did you have that done? I may have missed that in the video. This is a much simpler fairing to install as opposed to the FXR style ones, a lot less expensive too.

      I'm waiting for brackets to arrive to relocate the turn signals to the forks. Others have installed mirrors with built-in turn signals. With tall risers/bars they come up over the fairing and the OEM signals still work. Lots of options.

    Real nice job and I'm about to start a very similar build in the next 2 weeks. Did you layout the post spacing to be 10x20 or is it 10x20 to outside of girts? Not that it matters, was just curious. Most pole barn suppliers size the building to the girts. Thanks!

    To anyone trying to install this kit on low rider st..... I struggled with it untill I realized the notch needs to point UP, instead of down which is mentioned accordingly to the instruction manual in this video. No where in the instructions is this mentioned and I have not found any source of confirmation, its just a tip and it worked for me.

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If I stated that the instructions said to put the notch down, I'm confident that That is exactly what the instructions said. If they have since modified the instructions, so be it, but I have not had any problems with my axle covers since installation. 5,000+ miles.

      @adam0893 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal sorry used the wrong words. What I mean is that it does say so in the instruction. You are absolutely right about that. It just is the opposite for the Low rider st, which is not writen in the manual.

  • @danman5857
    @danman5857 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    So question here. Rather than gambling on an expensive aftermarket seat, wouldn't it be better to find an excellent local upholsterer who can modify the stock seat, measure, cut, add, shape, add gel inserts, etc, and get a seat tailored to your touchie?

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you have the time and desire to go that direction, I'm sure you could do it. Doubtful that you would save any money. Because you're using the stock seat frame a back rest would not be an option.

    One thing to try to eliminate buffeting is to add a vent in your windshield. This allows just enough air through to eliminate the air pocket behind the windshield and therefore gets rid of that air effect. For break-in, its not just about the engine, but the transmission also. Smooth upshifts and down shifts, no jack rabbit starts and stops, and no high rev running for extended periods. another thing is, short rides to heat and cool down the engine. multiple heat cycles during break-in is good for getting everything seated. I have always used engine hours, in the past, not mileage. but riding conservatively for the first 10 hours or so, goes a long way to having a long lasting engine, that has well seated rings with no blow by, and gets all the excess material from building, out of the engine and transmission for first oil change.

    Silicone hex cushions are what you need, something from purple or vivamint

    Todd, great project my fellow Michigander. Now I know what to expect. It looks natural on the bike. Doug🏍️👍🤓

    im no camper builder. But 5 minute mud aka hot mud has an epoxy like material in it to make it dry faster. Also you could use a 2 part epoxy just on the seams. Im not sure what the price difference would be for a whole camper using 2 part epoxy instead of wood glue. I do know you can get it pretty cheap if you buy chinese brands in bulk. edit: is there anything stopping you from doing it with titebond and paint and then later on down the road when you have money coating the whole thing in epoxy and sanding to a smooth finish?

      Its really a time, cost, and finished product combination that lead me to skin my camper with plywood. Thanks for the input...

      @@ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal didn't know what you did and wasn't criticizing it. Was more asking a question of do you think epoxy would work on the seams. And couldn't you later on just epoxy over the pmf if you weren't satisfied with the finish a year or two down the road

    I thought the lower brackets attached to the upper bolts of the triple clamp. Are the instructions different for a 2023 KLX300?

      I've ridden over 1,000 miles with the windshield on and everything is exactly the way it was when I installed it. No issues at all...

    You could try some split wire loom tubing to protect your brake line.

      As it turned out the brake line was not an issue. As soon as you sit on the bike your weight compresses the suspension and the issue goes away. Thanks for the comment.

    You should get a front wheel chock, it makes more easier to jack the bike up when the bike is upright straight instead of side standing

  • @mike7197
    @mike7197 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The problem with this jack is that there's no way to strap the frame of your bike to it, if you're just going to raise it up to 'look' at it fine, just don't plan on turning a wrench on it, your bike will slip right off this jack when you're least expecting it and crash onto the floor. Don't use without a front wheel chock or strapping to some overhead rafters.

      I've never had an issue. I have a front wheel chock that I use if I'm going to do any real work on the bike. I use this lift every day as a center stand and it is rock solid when you're not lifting both wheels off the ground. Thanks for the input...
