Milwaukee Heated Hoodie gear review M12 M18 302-21
มุมมอง 257ปีที่แล้ว
This is a review video of the Milwaukee M12 Heated hoodie. I have worn this hoodie for a bit now, enough to give it a fair review. This is a nice colder weather zip up sweatshirt with integrated adjustable heat. It runs off Milwaukee M12 batteries. I recommend using with 2.0 batteries for the best runtime. Additional runtime can be added using a M18 adapter sold separately.
Milwaukee M18 5.0 XC Battery Deals - when to buy 48-59-1852B Holiday Home Depot

I this video I explain why I buy batteries in combo kits. I used a current black friday deal at Home Depot to score some new 5.0 XC battery packs. After looking online there are a lot of different ways to buy. This is a great deal as you end up with 15 Ah of batteries with a charger for $199. Sure beats buying single batteries. Milwaukee 2460-20 M12 Rotary Tool Review Thumbs Down
มุมมอง 3.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I explain why the Milwaukee M12 2460-20 gets the thumbs down from me. I like the idea of a cordless rotary tool but this vibrates way too much. I also think it's under powered. This tool has been out for a bit and I think it's time Milwaukee gives us a "Fuel" BRUSHLESS version with a metal nose housing. I do not recommend this tool.

    Any trick to transfer motors mounting screw holes to the mounting plate and that little round stub sticking out of the notor casing by the screws??

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cardboard templates might help you get a decent layout? Make the big stub hole first in a piece of cardboard more than large enough to trace the whole mounting surface. It wasn't very easy, lol. I measured my holes and laid them out carefully after. If that makes sense? Mine were not perfect in the end but they worked. Enjoy your build! Thanks for commenting and watching.

    Not sure if you reading this, I like the project but cant find aby sensible ways to attatch the motors making the service ready if needed. This would be my secon RC mower but i still have lots to learn. I want to make frame sort of universal si I could attatch any (most popular) 21" mower to it with minimal mods.

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB หลายเดือนก่อน

      Serviceability would be nice. However, I can tell you these motors don't seem to really need any service though. I know of lots of them with tons and tons of hours that just run and run. Brushes are the only thing I could see needing to maintain. The mounting on my motors isn't the best and is not great for service... But they work just fine. Brushes can be replaced. Just consider how necessary it is for you. You may require something different. Thanks for watching. Have fun on your second go round.

    The part that gets me jumping ship is that you expect to pay a premium for a quality item that will last. You expect parts to be available for that item. I won’t support another company that has seemingly gone out of the way to contribute to the huge filthy waste piles of consumer trash. Keep building things to throw away Milwaukee! A simple fix……..

  • @jesssic476
    @jesssic476 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not water resistant at all. Tore down failed unit to find that the pcb had failed from corrosion. Parts are not available. Not through Milwaukee, not the web, no where’s. I even tried contacting some pcb “repair” sites with no luck. Just a simple little pcb that is plug and play, easily replaceable, (about ten minutes to teardown and repair) and none available to buy. Not a bad way to throw away $150. This info is true for the m12 radio/charger. No parts available. Aftermarket speakers can be used with some solder work but Milwaukee doesn’t offer any info for replacement speakers. At the price point of team red, yellow or whatever speakers, it’s not worth it. Not when there are so many better, less expensive offerings. I officially quit team red.

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a bummer to hear from a bunch of different angles. I agree, there are great alternatives if you are not clinging to the M18 battery system. I still enjoy my radio. I can say that I've had mine for a few years with no real issues to speak of. I also can say I've never got mine wet. Unfortunately for us...Anything electronic these days is built to be disposed of. Vote with your money. I looked at their new ear buds recently, they are (in my opinion)also an example of team red over charging for something everyone sells. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your experience. I appreciate your view. Enjoy your tools, whether red, yellow or green....

    Is there a conversion kit or guidance to convert 85 atc 250r rear brakes to the 86?

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not that I am aware of. You can't just change the brakes. Things to note... The swingarm, bearing carrier, brake stay and I believe axle are different. When sourcing any of those parts just ensure you are getting all 85 or all 86. I do recommend going 86 if you have a choice. There is a reason they changed them over. The actual calipers are the same except for color and their mounting bracket. Enjoy your build. These machines are wonderful. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      It isn't "just rattling around"... It's mounted using the supplied hardware as suggested in the manual. Mounted to a full metal chassis which acts as a heatsink. Very nice. In a different type of fastener remover have you ever tried the rocket sockets? They've saved me a few times on an extremely Rusty 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis I live in Cape cod so between the winters and the salt on the roads and then the salt from the ocean the guy that I got it from 14 years half a block from the ocean with no trees or anything protecting the wind from blowing the salt are in riding out the entire frame. And everything else that's metal underneath. The body looks great until you look at it underneath you like ooh boy not good. It's so bad I don't dare take it to an inspection station anymore because I know they're going to probably quarantine it and say you cannot drive this vehicle anymore and I'm not in the market for a new one yet. So rocket sockets it is however I'm looking at some coke and sockets and wrenches that look pretty similar to these. When I'm really blown away is with the back drag of my newest two ratchets which are Koken 1/4 and 3/8. They really put to shame my third newest ratchet which is a small set from Bacho. You can put these things out at a 90° angle and they stay there unless you start bouncing it in your hand. Where is the Koken you can't even move and have it to go up at all it just stays straight down when you try to twist it it's incredible. I am definitely looking for a set of wrenches and might consider getting these snap-on thanks to you for costing me all this money😂😂. Thanks for your informative video

    • @MTRFAB

      Thanks for watching! I'll look into those rocket sockets for sure. I have never seen them. In my opinion....You can never go wrong spending money on tools! I live a little north....In NH. We might not have the sea salt but they sure put it down on the roads, HEAVY. I know the rusty feeling. Lol. I have a pretty rotten 2012 Honda accord I'm saving now. Hopefully will have some great videos for you guys soon. The snap-on wrenches are wonderful. I'm sure there are cheaper comparable tools at this point. Everyone likes a snap-on... Just their price is sometimes hard to digest. Thanks again for giving the vid a watch. Stay well. Happy DIY.

    I have those old original 2010-2013 3.0 and even the 4.0 xc batterys. And I have newer 5.0, HO6.0 and HO12.0. I only have the old single m18 charger not even the one with the m12 like you have there. And these batteries all work great. The older 3.0 and 4.0 ones I got were from my dads work where they were abused day in and day out going through 2-3 charge cycles or more in a day. They are still working great. Fully charging running them down on my grinder from time to time. These old chargers are the way to go. And I agree. Less heat and slower lower amp charging the better. Those old packs were built better too! That’s why they aren’t around anymore. The newer ones are planned obsolescence so they go bad sooner when the chip board tells it to. I’ve had the old 3.0 batteries there are two versions of with the casing. Outlast newer 5.0s.

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I def don't recommend buying their fast chargers. Even with their new Forge batteries I won't. My suggestion to anyone who thinks they need to fast charge... Buy more batteries. Simple solution. Heat kills. Personally I have so many batteries and I believe anyone who is a serious tool user will have more than enough batteries to never need fast charge. Some of those high capacity batts do take forever to charge. Plan for it... buy a second battery at least. The batteries and your wallet will thank you long term. I have some seriously old 3.0 batts too. They don't make anything better as time passes.... Most of the time... Just cheaper. Thanks for watching and commenting. Our experiences seem similar for sure.

    A family friend gave us a Dutchwest 2462 which is very similar to this model and we used it for a whole winter without knowing anything about how to manage it. I didn't even know it had a catalytic system in the top! But thanks to you, I understand exactly how to use it and maintain it in future- once I replace the air distributor, combustor and seal which were all trashed! I wonder if we melted the air distributor through our misuse, or by running the stove too hot. ( I was making biochar in a small pot on top of my fires, so I would really get it blasting to bring the materials up to temperature to burn off by pyrolysis). Any ideas?

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We enjoy these stoves. The first one we had was the next size down. We over fired that since it wasn't exactly big enough to effectively heat our home. Most of the interior plates got consumed. This model has fared much better as it's sized correctly. This one has been used on the catalyst as primary heat since I made the video. All the bits inside are still good. Luckily, I believe Vermont Castings still sells the bits and pieces. Thanks for commenting and watching. Enjoy your stove.

    Thank you for the video. I have been searching for it seems forever trying to find any how to videos on this type of stove. I have had the 2460 model for about 15 years that I bought used. I have had to replace back grate once and the catalytic combustor and refractory. I'm not sure how, but at some point last season, my damper stopped working. When I took the top off to investigate the problem, I noticed the damper was split in two and the inner top is cracked. By chance do you know how to change the inner top? You can add 2 servos to the reciever, one for throttle assigned to the knob and the another for the safety cutoff assigned to the toggle on the remote, nice build.

These are both things I should have started with...lol. Safety last! Thanks for the suggestions and the comment! I appreciate your view.

    Hi was there any play on the side bolts bushings? Was it easy enough to get strut back into position on your own whilst pushing down on the breaker bar?

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Been a bit since I did this... Everything fit pretty snug and it did require a bit of coordination to wrestle things together. Keep in mind... Doing it on flat concrete would be a good step in making it easier. Be safe with the wrestling match and def bigger the bar, the better. Lol. Good luck. Enjoy saving some bucks! With the wheel still off and a jack under the lower ball joint to create loaded tension could you then tighten up everything to torque then?

    • @MTRFAB

      @@bronniesboy Yes. You just want the bushings to be at ride height or pretty close to it before you torque them down.

    I'm building a similar Rover project using 2-12volts Jazzy Wheelchair motors. Is it possible to use 24 volts power tool battery?, has anyone tried this? Great design on your frame. Great job!

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I have not tried that myself. Your runtime may be low and you may have power issues running power tool packs. They usually have built in protection circuits that may inhibit their use in this type of application. I'm not an expert, just a guess. Thanks for commenting and watching. The lipos packs I'm using are on the small end but they have no built in safety circuits. Enjoy your build!

      Thanks for your input. I like that idea and I've kinda toyed with other plans for alternate mowers and or different accessories to hang from the frame. I'd like to make a two blade wide deck someday. I've got to keep using it and find all the quirks. Next mod will be... Putting the FPV gear back on it, once I'm comfortable with how it handles. Thanks again for your comments.

      This is exactly my idea makeong my secon RC mower ( not for sale ). My first was serving well for 7 years but mower motor is acting and showing its age so the next one Im planing to do exactly as you said universal fram so you can drop in any 21" mower in it. As far as I see most mowers are pretty much the same in sizes . Electric mowers have same long way to go as electric cars, Its no no for me for near future.

  • @kljunatic8157
    @kljunatic8157 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have gone through this with mine and you don't have enough power. The motors pull too much and the sabertooth browns out and resets. Trust me you need bigger batteries. Also the capacitor that is laying down on the new sabertooth will vibrate and de solder over time. Get a hot glue gun and run a line of glue between all three capacitors. Also look into adding an alternator. I have had my r/c mower for 7 years only need to charge the batteries if it sits too long.

    • @MTRFAB
      @MTRFAB 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dimension said I should have more battery too. It did run with no issues and I intend to keep using it the way it is until I encounter another issue. I appreciate your insight. We both know those batts costs bucks. I def could see how those caps could become an issue... I'm actually surprised that they don't rtv them down. I like the alternator setups. Did you use a 24v alternator or are you running a 12v system? Thanks for the watch and tips.

      @@MTRFAB First I am running two invacare 4 pole motors and at 12 volts the unit runs like a snail. I have two 17Ah batteries running 24 volts. can get up to 8mph lol. Yes the alternator is 24 volt running off the self drive pulley on the mower. I had issues with mine, ran perfect one day next day the glitches would hit and I would have to reset the mower(Turn off and on the r/c unit). Talked to a really smart woman at Demensions and concluded that the system was pulling too much juice and causing the system to reset screwing up the remotes zero points. These motors can pull a lot of power when track steering or changing direction. Anyways great job also where did you get the rear wheels. I'm still running the wheels from the wheelchair and the tread is gone.
