  • This is a quick video showing the progress for the week. I designed some parts and 3D printed them. The parts create the pan and tilt mechanism used to control the FPV (first person view) camera. This is controlled by the left stick on the remote. I show you the live feed using an android phone as a monitor. It's proof that it works. Next I will come up with a way to mount the gear and house the electronics. I want to house them separate from the mower in a plastic enclosure on the top tube. This will allow me to see what the mower sees and mow as if I'm riding on it.

I am happy to share. I appreciate the sub too! I want to get comfortable with how it moves this spring and then I will load the FPV gear back on. Thanks again for commenting and showing interest.

Im building mine at the moment. Ive been flying FPV before you could go out and buy it, quadcopters too. We were making tricopters out of wood. Needless to say ive got loads of transmitters and camera and such kicking around for the mower. You will thank yourself if you get or make some better antenna than what you are using. The cloverleaf designs are what you want for all the yard obstructions like trees and bushes. Keeping the camera as low to the upper frame you have would reduce vibration. Between the mower shaking and the ground im expecting plenty and I would not be surprised to find a solid mount for the camera without any dampening might be the way to go. Ive got a set of fatsharks but my goal is to sit my ass in my chair in the living room and cut the lawn on the big screen connecting a 5.8ghz receiver to the TV via RGA cables. That way i can leave it hooked up on one input and not need to mess with it in order to mow.

We will see how sturdy the camera looks once everything is running. The "monitor" in the test has a cloverleaf on it... It's also an android phone.... From there all I have to do in is cast the screenshot to my android tv. Boom! No cables. Mowing on the big screen! I can't wait. Thank you for you suggestions and good luck with you project. Thanks for watching.

Good job. Dose the camera have stabling abilities?

No image stabilization. Hopefully it's usable. That's why I feel the pan and tilt mount needs to be as stable as possible. Thank you for watching.

where is the video on how you mounted your motors to the mower? I know you fabbed out the frame for it, but I wanted to see a more detailed view of the work.

I think part 2 is where you will see it best... I used 4 out of the six bolts.... I had to cut a 1" or so hole for the casting lug to set in. I hope this helps. I think you've watched this already... But that's as close as I think we can get for now. Thank you for watching.

I also want to mention.... I used cap screws to mount the motors as they just barely fit inside the tubing used.

What 6s batteries are you using? Do you have them wired in parallel?

Immersion r/c 5.8 ghz. I plan to use my TV as the monitor...the receiver (can't remember who makes it.) I'm using connects through an android phone. I will screencast from the android phone to the tv. Please keep watching. Vibrations may be an issue... We will find out together. Thank you for watching.
