    Wish I had seen this back in April when I caught a bunch of these and just called them Sunfish. This guy at the fishing pier was really adamant that they were Bluegill not Sunfish. I didn’t care enough to challenge him, but I’m finding it funny that ALL bluegills are Sunfish but not all Sunfish are Bluegills. So I was definitely correct while he might’ve also been correct or incorrect based on what type of Sunfish they actually were.

  • @Mustang_Dan
    @Mustang_Dan 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    No idea why I watched this as I’ve always just referred to any sunfish as a sunfish or a bluegill and tossed it back. But I did find it interesting actually.

Wheres the due diligence these days??? Also, anyone who has a coffe cup in their hand for a video and never drinks it is a moron, who thinks that props make content

    I catch Pumpkinseed Sunfish regularly in North Alabama in waters of The Tennessee River Valley. They've been here thirty five years I know of. In Spring it's easy to find them on beds in sandy or gravel areas in the shallows. They'll hit top water as well as subsurface same as any other Sunfish. Of course the deeper down they are you have to go subsurface.

  • @lynnglidewell7367
    @lynnglidewell7367 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I've caught hundreds of Green Sunfish in sluggish waters of creeks, streams, even drainage ditches. 1/4 inch top water popping bugs no bigger round then a paper straw are ideal for landing them in Spring time. Usually close to banks in slow waters. I would often catch them while wadding a stream with Fly Rod. I've caught many a pounder or more. In my early 70s now wadding isn't allowable anymore as balance issues prevent it so my opportunities for nabbing them isn't what it once was in my 30s and 40s. Fun fish to catch, especially those meaty ones!

    Bett’s 1/32 and 1/50 split tail spinners. The 1/50 has a tendency to kick out at faster retrieves. Looking for a better connection than tying directly to loop on lure because of knot failure.

    Why use a drop shot when you can use a bobber instead??? Plus you can adjust the depth as needed, can't do that with a drop shot. Drop shot rig is OK but don't be fooled by this, have fun and use common sense and have fun just fishing and enjoy yourself like you did as a kid, it's just fishing.

    • @bent5434
      @bent5434 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Argument for the drop shot is that it won’t move away from the fish since it’s on the bottom and it adjusts to any depth. Wind can move your bobber out of the strike zone
